It's the PRICE of tickets. The OSU Men's basketball team, up until the past few weeks, has not been worth the price of admission for years! I can drive up 71 North 2 hours and see the best basketball player in the world in LeBron James for the same price it costs me to go watch subpar college basketball (again, up until the past few weeks as this team has come around). It's been a no-brainer. Couple the exorbitant price for the level of product the Schott is selling with the fact that the venue itself is stuffy and cavernous and ill-suited to collegiate athletics and you have a recipe for low attendance. Cut the prices by 33 percent and they might sell out the place.
Funny article man! I made the habit of asking my server "Could you please let me know the beer and food on your menu that had to be shipped the furthest, I really don't like to support local!" This is always met with a look of disgust or a laugh because of this "local" everything movement. Local is not a new concept, it is just eating was grows in your area seasonally and is as old as time before transportation made eating pineapples in Ohio from Costa Rica a thing. Hipsters probably think they "invented" the concept of local though.
I am as unhappy as anyone save the players for not getting that 4 spot. I also ask myself who would I take in a head to head with Bama on a neutral field and if my life depended on it I’m betting Bama even if my heart says Buckeyes. I still think we and Bama are top 4 teams though. I think we are better than Georgia for sure.
Bernie's was the crusty heart of the dive bar circulatory system. When Bernie's went down last year I fear that all dive bars went on life support. Stay strong dive bars!
Please go and post this on the MGoBlog! They are doing nothing but blaming the spot for the loss
Sorry, but the sideline official, from 40 yards away, I think his name is uh, Harbaugh, could clearly see that JT was at least a foot short. He has X-ray vision you see, and could see where the ball was in JT's extended hand through Alexander's back!
Master of the Universe
The Schott was built when the coffers were full and before the bubble burst on the tech-economy boom of the early and mid 90s. What a poorly designed stadium. It's too big when your basketball team is crappy, and the bucks were crappy this year. It was hard to get bball tickets in the Oden era but now for a tourney like the NIT the crowds are pathetic.
Plus, tickets are overpriced. I'm sorry but I should not have to pay 20 bucks to watch an average to crappy basetball team that is not a pro team. I can go watch LeBron for less up in the rafters at Cleveland and feel like I got my money's worth.
I am a huge LeBron fan. That being said, even I have to admit that Steph has taken the crown as best basketball player currently alive and playing. His defense is okay, but he is so superior on offense to every other player there isn't even a close second. And he may be the best shooter, ever, period. It's hard to argue that this season hasn't been the most amazing shooting year for a player, ever. He is shooting 11-22 from beyond 30 feet for crying out loud.
If he would stop chewing his stupid mouth gaurd, which is very annoying, I could like him more.
I hate the Patriots but their offense is tailor-made for a player like Braxton. Just picture him catching a bunch of those quick slants and getting first downs. He will take he fair share of hits though, just ask Welker and Amendola.
Michael Redd is a no-brainer. Had he stayed for his senior season he would have shattered many OSU records.
Sorry, but if you only play one season here you are not deserving to be in the rafters in my humble opinion.
I don't believe it has been mentioned but in all likelihood we were placed against ND because the committee knows that that is a HUGE ratings game. I am more excited about the Fiesta Bowl than I am watching Clemson's underwhelming ,defense play against Oklahoma, a team who didn't have to test its mettle in a conference title game.
These bowl deci$ions, after the 4 team playoff is squared away are based a lot on ratings and money considerations and it is no surprise that Ohio State v ND is what they came up with. Watch the ratings of the OSU v. ND game against the Stanford vs Iowa game, it will be very telling.
6 team playoff with a bye for 1 and 2 is the fairest way to go: ensures that all major conferences are in and the wildcard and you shouldn't be an undefeated #1 having an extra hurdle in place by being forced to play a likely 2 loss 8 seed. Been wanting this since the beginning @Input4u
I didn't feel as if an apology was necessary, but it is fully accepted! I feel like the coaching staff owes Zeke an apology for the most mind-boggling, terrible gameplan I have ever seen in a big game with a ton on the line.
Zeke had the cojones to say what everyone was thinking, albeit he did chose a poor forum to do so. If the worst thing he ever did here was speak the truth out of turn then he's a one helluva guy.
Go get em Zeke and rush for 200 plus yards against the enemy, that's how you get back at em. And hopefully the coaching staff will give you the 20 plus touches you deserve being the best player on the field nearly every time you step out there!
Yep that decimal point placement is the difference between buzzed and whiskey for blood instead of blood
My initial reaction was to say "what an idiot!" Then I remembered me at 20. I am not excusing his very poor judgment, as he had much more to lose than me at 20yrs old, however he barely blew over 0.8. I know he is underage, but he only had a couple beers to blow that low. Before people on their high horses chime in, you too have driven over the limit if you drink 2 IPAs in an hour at the bar and then drove home. This was very poor judgment to even be driving, but this was a message from the universe to JT: you are in a privileged position, it's way bigger than you, who doesn't like to enjoy some beers on the weekend but it's not worth it JT! God Bless him, he is a good kid and made the very poor choice. I forgive him already and I am more dissappointed for him than anything because every game you start for the Buckeyes is a precious gift and JT worked his ass off to get his leg okay for this season. Keep your head up Number 16, own your mistake and be a better man for it going forward
If your set on moving up to NW ohio, don't have much advice for you but you can a lot more house for your dollar up there. I just bought a farm house in Delaware county. Delaware, much like Columbus is exploding in population with new builds everywhere, schools are excellent and you are 30 mins from downtown Cbus if you are in southern Delaware county. Land is very valuable and if you are doing a new build you will have to pony up a lot of cash to Delco before you even put a shovel in the ground, but Indy opinion it is worth it. Still has a country feel and close proximity to shopping and Columbus. Look in the Hoover resovoir area in the 43082 zip code. I don't know your price range but whatever you buy or build there will only be increasing in value for the next 25 years as census data projects Delaware county to continue or be the fastest growing county in Ohio (percentage wise) until 2045.
I know the philosophy of the perspective of loving it when Tttun sucks years after year as they have for over a decade now, but I am in the camp of loving a real rivalry and I welcome the opportunity to shatter the false hopes of 100K plus Tttun fans at the big House in November. I hope they continue to roll so that kicking their ass is that much sweeter on the way to having a shot at a 2nd title in a row. I hope we both run the table and it's us No. 1 and ttun top 5 the day of The Game. It is exciting to have the chance to shatter their dreams. Ttun has nothing to lose this year and are playing like it. We have elevated the Big Ten to being a powerhouse again and the trolls from up north can thank us for that before we roll them on the road. I love that we haven't scratched the surface of our offensive potential yet and by Nov. I am confident we will have our system figured out. I have a healthy fear of Ttun and I like having that feeling again. It will make it that much sweeter when we win 31 21
I swear I just posted my post without even reading yours...LOL, too funny
ESPN could no longer justify paying a moron 7 figures to troll a single school. It's unfortunate, but even ESPN realizes that OSU is the favorite this year, there is no more denying the greatness of Urban Meyer and the players we have, to do so makes you look like an uninformed, pathetic, truth-denying troll.
RIP career of Mark May, I hear they are casting for a "Family Matters" reunion, you could play Steve Urkel's long lost uncle or something.....
Here's my solution: just ignore all posts and post what you want. That's what I do half the time, and I am not trying to read through 300 dumb opinions anyway (our own opinions are NEVER dumb, ARE THEY!!??)
If you have to ask the question......then, probably, YES, you are doing it wrong.
Cardale will go number one overall if he plays his cards right: if we run the table and win out to take a second title, and he continues his intermediate throwing development (nobody has a better long ball) and shows scouts that he can throw five yard outs through a small window, he will go number one. He has the size, strength and athleticism to be an incredible QB in the NFL.
His arm would be one of the strongest in the league from Day 1. I believe he has enough upstairs to to do it too. Don't be fooled by his goofy demeanor, he is a smart guy.
Cardale, show the world why you are the best football player in America this year.
I appreciate the added perspective, tragic indeed, any troubled life cut short......
I know I am going to anger some people with this, but I have never understood why someone is a hero for taking his own life and leaving grieving family and friends to pick up the pieces of the destruction in the wake of that act.
Kurt Cobain was a talented young musician. He was not a genius nor to me was he particularly incredible at playing guitar, singing or song writing. If I want to read about someone's teenage angst, I will read a 16 yr old's diary, you don't have to sing it me in a grovelly voice over guitar riffs.
Now, David Grohl was the best thing to come out of Nirvana.
