The part about this whole thing that gets me is that people outside the state of Ohio only see Dr. Gee as Orville Redenbacher. Even more, they only connect him with Ohio State sports, like that is supposed to be his primary job. Gee was running one of the nations largest research institutions better than any of his predecessors and arguably better than any of his peers at other schools around the country. Why should a university president have to watch what he says when he talks about sports. They're just games... Forget about the millions upon millions upon millions of dollars in fundraising Gee has pulled in to help do things like cure cancer and finance the arts and sciences. Forget the fact that Dr. Gee made it a point to get out into the student body and actually show his appreciation for his students. Forget that Dr. Gee always toppled the status quo and forced Ohio State into innovating for the futre. All America seems to care about in a university president is that he doesn't embarrass the football program, and that is really, really messed up.
