Just because he stopped eating them on camera doesn't mean he has stopped.
I live in South Bend and once again Shelley shows her wisdom. Nastiest little shit town I have ever had the bad fortune to be in.
You say that now but what if Canada actually made an offer? Huh, Canadians can be pretty gullible eh.
Fix that title I choked on my cheesecake. Please never, ever mistype that Urban took a JOB at Michigan...
I think a lot of people have been questioning why we have the NCAA for some time now. I know fans from most programs do. I suspect coaches, players and administrators do albeit not in public. You are correct that the NCAA does nothing with any consistency. Except They do seem to consistently make money for themselves.
Every Saturday until it gets too cold here we move a TV to the back patio around 10AM for pregame. Two tv's occasionally as we have me, my girlfriend from Alabama and neighbors who are mostly Notre Dame. Noon kickoffs = goetta (yeah I'm from Cincy), eggs and bacon about 11. Late lunch is usually burgers and dogs with hot slaw. TV gets drug back inside about midnight usually. So yeah we are full slaters until it gets cold out, then it's Bucks game and movies indoors.
I'm not as sure as you about that. Schiano had proven himself before last year. I'm looking harder at Grinch or possibly it was just the combination not working with the two of them. But I couldn't be happier Grinch is at OK now.
Enough to confirm my family's financial future without me there.
What is this NFL you speak of?
Seems like he wanted to get out regardless of the risk to 2019. Kid must have not been happy.
I hold no ill will towards Nick or any other kid that goes and gets the money. And I agree that it is too much to risk unless the player feels some over the top loyalty. Where I do feel real anger is with the system that makes it work as it does now. The sheer greed of the NCAA along with the NFL seeming to not care about the college game has created the stage for mercenary attitude we see top ranked players taking. Sadly it isn't a thing you can get back in the box so expecting things to change is futile.
The NCAA and their hypocritical stance on "amateur" athletics is the thing that most needs changed. It won't fix everything, but some form of profit sharing could go a long way.
I hate it but agree. Undefeated trumps, should anyway, anything else. Can't ignore that they play an ACC schedule yet avoid a CCG. By the way, we just saw how that would have turned out .
Considering I live like 5 minutes from their shit stadium I would have been overjoyed.
I have no issue with moving G5 teams down to FCS. If they are ineligible for the playoffs that should be the solution. But to deny a team that did everything right a shot isn't fair imo.
My only problem with 6 is there has to be a bye somewhere and that feels like an unfair advantage.
I like your Dad without having ever met him. Any person, particularly a catholic person, that sees through that sign is on my good list.
It felt to me that we were getting some unearned benefit up until Purdue. With something less than a mediocre defense and virtually no reliable running game we entered Purdue still ranked #6. In my opinion that is enough evidence to drop the perception argument. With even a pedestrian defense and any sort of running game we were well in striking range for the playoffs. All that was really working was the passing game and we all saw what happened when that ran a little cold at Purdue. Comparisons to Oklahoma aside, this team never looked championship caliber to me. The homer in me wanted them to make it, of course. But the realist just felt it wasn't our year. Yet still that #6 ranking entering Purdue. Do we get that advantage with Urban not on the sideline? I sort of doubt it. Not until Ryan Day earns that benefit.
To the original subject: I have never, nor will I ever, root for ttun.
This time of year is always full of drama often leading to trauma for me. My Mom is passed and my Dad just celebrated his 90th. I know the thoughts of maybe the last one all too well. As my Dad and I are hundreds of miles apart simple visiting is hard at best. He and I have the same fall Saturday afternoon tradition that many here have. And my Dad and I spend most of those 3 hour blocks of time on the phone during every game. Faced with Christmas or New Years at home this year I am opting for New Years and the Rose Bowl with my Dad. The more important tradition.
Having automatic bids for conference champs is the most effective, and maybe the only, way to neuter the SEC favoritism and the Notre Dame problem. There is no way to determine what teams are the 4 "best" really. Too many factors are involved to know this for sure. And isn't striving to identify the "4 best" what allows the committee to continue this facade? Five P5 champs, 1 group of 5 rep, and 2 bids left for the BS the committee regurgitates annually. So what if a "Cinderella" like Pitt or Northwestern make it in? If they can get past the big dogs in conference they deserve their swing. That is a part of what makes sport so great.
That depends on if it is true that Craig James was wearing womens underwear when he killed the hookers.......
The less money attached to ND is a misnomer. They may bring in less from direct revenues but I'd have to see some proof of that to buy in. However, I work in the imprinted apparel industry and they have traditionally been the highest priced license in college sports. To think ND avoids conference membership at financial cost to themselves is just silly.
So in a mist the whole thing would look like hmmm..... a mirage?
While I agree with you on all you say, ND brings money and that is the final arbiter. So until ND joins the ACC it is what it is and not changing. The only realistic way to neuter ND is auto bids for P5 champs.
No worries. Probably should have been clearer.
Were you replying to me somehow? The simple truth is almost a year ago this board was full of people breathing a sigh of relief that he was staying here. I am not debating TN being justified, or not, in their decision. The general opinion here was how lucky we were that he was staying. Now a bad year and it fire Schiano. No matter 3 of the 4 top DE's were drafted. Ignore 2 new coaches on that side. Just fire Schiano. SMFH
This is the only place I hear the "Fire Schiano" mantra. Of course, this is the place where Tennessee was most ridiculed for not hiring him as a head coach. A year ago everyone loved him. I expect Day will keep him if it's possible.
