You're absolutely correct about the hypocrisy of rooting for people who otherwise I wouldn't care much for. I've been thinking the same thing for a while now and wrestled with what following my beliefs would mean. This, by the way has nothing to do with race. Not directly anyway. It's about what is happening to our society. That hypocrisy of our leaders bending to the will of the mob. And yes, the same kids I rooted for every fall are supporting the criminals masquerading as protesters. After 51 years of living and dying with this team on Saturdays it's time to call it quits rather than be guilty of the very hypocrisy you point out. Never been downvoted to grey, but may as well go out with my first one. You folks all take care. Let the downvotes commence.
Granted that one year is not a lot to go on even if that one year was as great as it was. But I do think his three game stint as interim head coach says as much or more about coach Day. Remember the misery we all felt as the Zach Smith nightmare unfolded just as fall practice was beginning and though the team did a great job of projecting resolve you know they were hurting even more than us fans. Ryan Day did an amazing job of keeping the whole thing from falling apart and he did it on short notice. 2019 was a great year but what he'd did in 2018 was even more impressive in my opinion.
I wouldn't count on that, the interim HC is Tress's nephew and the Tressel guys know a thing or two about beating ttun.
I think it took until the B1G championship game for our opponents to find the weakness in our defense. Two quarterbacks that will never be confused with Braxton Miller gashes the defense. I have to think this will dictate some changes. It's less a result of coach Coombs coming back and more a challenge he inherits.
It's also literally Ken Anderson and Boomer Esiason.
And again the embarrassment that is the nouveau riche. They simply do not have the time at the top to grasp how easily you fall from that height. If they can stay elite long enough they will learn. Our fangs has decades of success and failure to have learned from.
And it is a mistake to discount them against that LSU defense.
For me it's a win-win. Like you I have zero love for either team. Bama rolls and ttun loses is a win. Ttun gets a win and the sec flagship program ends with 3 losses making the mythical nature of sec superiority even more obvious and that's a win.
The embarrassment that is the nouveau riche
The 6 team model always loses me at the word bye. If 7 and 8 are getting smoked anyway let them 5ake their shot. Giving 1 and 2 a bye week is really making certain the field is not level.
Really it isn't so silly. If you lived through those years you saw the front office pressure to force those first rounders into starters way too fast. This is, and always has been, a weakness of this franchise particularly where quarterbacks are concerned.
Historically speaking the Bengals should avoid a qb in the first, think Akili Smith and Klingler. The have found infinitely better talent in the second and third rounds, Ken Anderson, Boomer and Dalton. And unless Joe really wants to play for a Ohio team he should pray the Bengals miss on him.
Thank you for giving me the logical argument I need. I spend about 35 weeks saying ttun needs to win occasionally to better preserve the rivalry. Now I can let go of that philosophical bullshit. Back to no quarter 52 weeks per year.
Why do I suspect Rex Ryan drew up that defensive play?
I'll go with my girlfriends take this year. She is from Alabama and is actually relieved that Bama is eliminated from the cfp because she didn't care to live through our kicking their ass again.
I want two sec teams in. One each for us and Clemson to eliminate in the first round. Can't imagine a better way to start destroying the mythical sec superiority.
I think he probably was including the seven that was taken off the board by Fields fumbling in the endzone. So yeah in reality it was a 17-point swing.
Many of you aren't old enough to remember the Penn State was an independent that we played once in a while. As I was growing up PSU was just a team in the AP and UPI polls that had precious little to do with my Buckeyes yet ttun was always there at the end of November, always.
This rivalry is about much more than wins or losses. Did Woody ever refuse to buy gas in Pa? Did one of our coaches leave to take the helm of Penn State and then start a 10 year war with our beloved coach and team? Did a PSU player ever take a Heisman stance in our end zone then go on to a career as an idiot in front of tv cameras? I know there was a Toledo War but can't find anything on a Pittsburgh War that might have involved brave Ohio patriots.
Penn State has no resume as a rival. They just have a football team.
The backside OLB on that play was White actually.
Not sure if it was his football knowledge as much as it was his FOOT knowledge.
Absolutely. We definitely took the bullet. Thankfully it was quickly removed and the surgery was successful.
I was at that Bengals game. Wyche was magnificent!
Difference being Tress was really, really good at it.
Just because he stopped eating them on camera doesn't mean he has stopped.
I live in South Bend and once again Shelley shows her wisdom. Nastiest little shit town I have ever had the bad fortune to be in.
