Im not sure D’Angelo Russell was a true point guard when he came to Ohio state. You may want to check that.
And even DLo was a natural shooting guard when he came to OSU
Holtmann didn’t play much of any of his freshman tonight
Let’s give Gene Smith some credit for this hire, too. Yeah, he’ll be judged mostly on the Ryan Day hire but this should be a big part of his resume, too.
I think he’s still hurt. He wasn’t making shots he normally makes.
Has anyone thought of this? Mathew Baldwin was personally recruited to play here by Ryan Day at Ohio State University. I believe he was a 4-star guy. Maybe...just maybe...he’s pretty damn good.
World of difference between how Joe Burrow handled his situation vs. Martell and gave Buckeye Nation two teams to root for this year. I’m on the “wish him the best” train and won’t begrudge him for wanting to do what’s best for him. But...he could have handled it differently and had two fan bases behind him. As a parent myself, I don’t understand how people can be so cruel to mock a kid for his given name. Shameful.
Wow, downvoted into oblivion for expressing a concern? What has happened to the commentariat on this site? Jeez.
I worry that Ryan Day May be the wrong choice, not because he isn’t an outstanding coach but because he’s not an “Ohio Guy”. I remember the Cooper years all too well. He wasn’t an Ohio guy and couldn’t win against Michigan. And look at the coaches Michigan hired who weren’t Michigan men.
If Urban leaves for health reasons, I wouldn’t be too surprised. Becoming a grandparent really changes your perspective on what’s important. My Dad refused to retire for 5 years after he turned 65. He loved his business as much as he loved anything. Then my son arrived this year and now he’s finally looking to retire and move here to be closer to my son. My guess is that he wants to do everything possible to be around and healthy for his grandkids.
Then don’t watch...
Gene Smith deserves a lot of credit for the Holtmann hire and Holtmann deserves a whole lot of credit for having the guts to schedule this game (and then go win it)!
No one will beat JB Shugarts in that regard for me
Ummm...I doubt FSU is favored over Clemson at all much less 17 points...
I think we can trace a lot of this back to the mess over the summer and Urban’s suspension. Urban just hasn’t seemed himself in interviews and on the side line. Difficult to fire up your team if the coach isn’t as fired up. I think it’s all still weighing on him.
Folks, it’s time for some “Holy Buckeye” magic!
Look, I get all the player personnel related issues. They’re glaring in some spots. However, we need to start talking about how Schiano and company are getting out-coached game after game - starting with the TCU game. Yes, tackling, bad angles etc. are issues but players being out of place and being surprised with what’s being thrown at them can be chalked up to coaching.
I’m old and technologically inept. But someone needs to gif that Urban pie smile. That made my day.
Contrast that with how Urban treated the Haskins/Burrow situation and yet that snake continues to negatively recruit against OSU (and win those recruiting battles).
So we’re calling the week before the Penn State game, Penn State week now? Folks, it’s time to admit it. They are indeed a rival.
No love for Sam Hubbard? He had a fantastic game for the Bengals on Thursday night. A sack, three solo tackles, two assisted tackles and a QB hurry. Oh and he played fullback for a play again. Not bad for a rookie back up DE making the most of his opportunities.
Recently became my favorite position because of its recent evolution to accommodate how offenses are now run. You can’t just be athletic to play S. You have to have a very high football IQ and instincts.
I guess I’m a rare Buckeye and Bengal fan. What these other Cincy fans don’t understand (not surprisingly) is that the O Line was absolutely putrid last year. Basically, with the 12th pick, Cincy got Cordy Glenn (from Buffalo) and Billy Price. Oh, and another thing, Price can play C or G. That type of versatility will give the Bengals some flexibility. I’d say job well done, Mikey Brown.
Dude can rebound, too. Not just jump shots.
Thank you, Buckeyes! Thank you, Coach! This team was fun to watch all year long. It's been a minute since we could say that.
