*ichigan drops two spots after a loss. OSU should not drop even one spot without a loss , not to mention 2-3 and out of the final four.
In Tressels first season , he added an extra OT to block in that *ichigan game.
With the win Sat. we all can at least breath a little easier for the next month. Even so, OSU has serious problems beyond Prince at RT. Contrary to what Meyer says, the O line is not getting better. Contrary to what Meyer says, the receivers are not getting better. Contrary to what Meyer says, JT is regressing to a degree. Contrary again, Special Teams are really regressing. What is the OC's Game Plan, give the ball to the QB 30 times a game ?
What upset me most about Sat was the lack of execution. The fake punt was a great call, Hubbard missed his block. Johnson might have gained 25-30 yards giving OSU the ball near midfield. On the 4th and 1 in OT, Jones was knocked on his butt.
Poor game plan, poor execution of that game plan. Wind conditions had nothing to do with Samuel only getting 8 total touches, poor game plan by the OC's. Wind conditions had nothing to do with giving up two 60 plus yard plays to MSU. *ichigan will load the box and force Barrett to throw, OSU will load the box and force O'Korn to throw. OSU can not let O'Korn throw for 250-300 yards. Like it or not, recruits can be swayed by this game.
I really don't get upset about these games. This week , next week, it is all up to the OSU Football Team. If they want to win they will, if not they won't, simple as that. Neither MSU or UM have more talent.
Makes getting Jackson Carman all that more important !
When Price doesn't get 2-3 silly penalties a game he does play well.
Are there any players on the Huston team rated higher then 3 star ?
OSU is soooooooo young and with the class of 17 possibly being the best of all time many of these young guys are going to bolt simply due to the depth. I especially see this happening with the receivers. Two 5 stars coming in plus the possible return of Gibson. Some of these guys no matter how good will not see the field.
Although Hubbard and Lewis are returners from last season , the D Line is young, even with Holmes at DT, and imo, they were the key.
This is the weekend for both Samuel and Wilson to show how good they are, anything less could result in a loss.
Like mentioned above, kids are fickle. My opinion now is, there are 27 frosh and and sophs on the OSU two deep roster . Could that play a part in a kids decision ?
A St Ed/ Hoban game should have 15,000 or more , probably much more !
This will hurt somewhat on depth, but Burrows has really under preformed since the beginning after coming to OSU highly acclaimed .
I've said this before and I will continue to say, until all these guys actually sign I will not get overly excited. IMO, when it comes to signing 2-4 of these current verbal commits will not sign.
Who is to say that Clark will not be the last man standing. I simply can not see two of the three between Haskins, Martell or Jones being at OSU in two years. These kids want to be three years starters and see playing time asap, Burrow might blow a hole in their plans right from the start.
I have a bruise on my arm . I think I will say Tom Brady did it to me and try to get some $$$$$$$$$$ !
69 loss to Michigan, in Bo's first season.
My preference would be to speed up the plays for an additional 15 snaps per game, maybe more.
Anything can happen, who was favored to repeat as National Champion , and didn't !
Treat him like anyone else.......throw the book at him.
Though a no huddle offense I would hesitate to call OSU uptempo. Many times they don't get the snap off until one or two seconds are on the play clock, sometimes , they don't get the play off. I would want OSU to play like they did against *ichigan and ND, as fast as possible when they had both teams completely confused. If OSU can get the snap in 15 seconds, much like Oregon, do it. More plays also equate into more and different players on the field getting experience.
Nothing wrong with losing, but at least be competitive and give some effort.
Although I like Mitchel, is minutes are valuable and not only helps him, but the team.............was he actually trying to make those free throws !
With no real threat in the post, both offensively or defensively , I see OSU an early out in the NCAA again. When the ball doesn't fall from the outside there is need for an inside game until the shooters get hot. The loss to MSU last week is a great example.
