It looks like Sevyn Banks and Chatfield are the only 2 of our commits not in the new 247 Rankings. Surprised Banks is not in that list as many analysts raved about him during the Opening. Mitchell is our lowest rank within the 247 rankings at 149. Another notable item is that Carman is no longer a 5 star. Granted 247 only has 14 5 stars in the new rankings.
Per Marc Givler, Houston Griffith is at OSU working out today.
Another 2018 Boom or do we start the 2019 Class off with a Boom soon?
Per Birm, K'Vaughan Pope may be visiting Ohio State Tomorrow and there is a small chance for a commitment.
Getting the two top LB targets on campus in the same week! This will be interesting.
I know the rule has changed where you can only sign a max of 25 players, but isn't there some rule about early enrollees being able to be back-dated to the previous class (So for example: 2018 early enrollees can become part of 2017 class on paper)? Does anyone know if there is some truth to that, and if so does that allow this class to possibly exceed 25 players?
Birm puts in the CB for Teradja Mitchell to OSU!!
Not sure why I can't embed the tweet, but I thought this was interesting as well:
From Coach Zach Smith
This could be a big week for the Silver Bullets... #Sheesh
To add on to this, Wiltfong also said that if the decision wasn't set for White's mother's birthday, that he would have already CB'd him to OSU
Does this mean we are going to take another 5 DBs?
Comitted: Woodbey, Proctor, Banks
Looking to Add: Griffith and Cook
Does this commitment cause any issues with the two others we are hoping to add or others?
Per Bill Kurelic:
- He feels B. Cox was leaning towards OSU going in to the weekend and he has not heard anything that would change his feelings on that yet. We will see if anything pops up in the next 24-48 hours. He also just won the Top DE award at the rivals camp today.
- D. Gant as stated previously on here, he feels and he heard, is now leaning OSU
- If we push for PJ Mustipher, he feels we may be in a good spot to land him. He got a good feeling from him after his last visit here. Could announce soon.
Thanks for the response! Appreciate it!
You recently made some CB's in favor of OSU on a few prospects visiting this weekend in B. Cox, F. Scruggs and A. Burney. Could you elaborate on what made you CB them to OSU. Was it a hunch or has some rumblings come out recently that made you make the prediction. I know Scruggs, at least out of those 3, has been linked to OSU more, but I am curious on the other two. Thanks! Great work as always!
So a possible OL Haul of:
OT- J. Carman and M. Wray
OG- F. Scruggs and V. Brown
C- J. Kradel
I would say that is pretty good!
Farrell has predicted both Wilson and Browning to Oklahoma and Texas respectively; however, Krueger, who is the Texas recruiting analyst feels that Ohio State may be in the driver seat for both. I know Farrell is a highly regarded national recruiting analyst, but I feel someone who has ties to the actual home state, may have a little more news on the situation and their opinion may hold more truth.
Shall be an interesting finish and having all three of them together on an official visit where one (Okudah) continues to state that OSU is the leader and many believe he is already in the class and another (Browning) who will be committing a couple days after the visit, can lead to a possible sweep if Wilson decides to follow suit and play for the team that impressed him the most while he was on an official visit to another school (Oklahoma).
You have to also remember that the Kicker Haubeil will be coming in as a grayshirt (and possibly QB Clark) and so that means we are sitting at 13 (12) right now. If we add Akers, Lindsey, Grimes, Young, Riep, Okudah, Tufele then we are at 20 (19) commits. With that being said, there is room for 1, maybe two more players: Browing, Hines, Harris, Holmes, T. Smith being the group that it comes from or maybe a surprise. Will be an interesting 6 more months to see how this all plays out.
Quick side note: If we are able to somehow bring in all of that talent, we will have 12 players ranked in the top 50. Crazy!
Is it a coincidence that the song chosen for the video is "I'm coming home"? He is originally from the midwest....food for thought.
I may be reading a little too much in to it, but I went and compared the Final School lists for both Tate and Tyjon and noticed something interesting (if they are wanting to play at the same college). Cal is the school that many people believe to be the other top option for Tate from his list of final schools. What I noticed when I looked at Tyjon's final school list is that Cal is not mentioned. The only schools that are consistent between the two lists are The Ohio State and USC. Again, like I said, I may be reading a little too much in to it, but I think it is something interesting to look at and hopefully a good sign for both players in joining this class.
- A few Crystal Balls (A couple Nebraska insiders) recently for Tyjon to Nebraska. Steve Wiltfong would be surprised if it was not OSU that he picks. What are your thoughts? Are the Nebraska insiders just taking a shot in the dark or is there more to their crystal balls that were placed after he announced his decision date?
- Thoughts about Shaun Wade's commitment after this past weekend. His parents seem to have really enjoyed OSU and felt comfortable with him going there, but do you think OSU is where he ultimately ends up?
