I attended the '08 game. The only good thing that happened was afterward, while walking through the bowels of the LA Coliseum, a voice rang out, 'It's 8:35 pm' followed by 50 people in unison 'And Xichigan still sucks'.
It boggles my mind that the ESECPN Graphics dept leaves out FPI and also offensive/defensive rankings on these side by side comparisons.
They would clearly show why OSU is number one. But hey, there's no bias there...
Don't think I've ever bet ATS in The Game and probably never will.
But I think this number goes up to 10 or 10.5 then drops as gametime nears.
Now witness the firepower of this fully ARMED and OPERATIONAL battle station!
I know there's a lot of hate on Gameday lately but please consider this:
Gameday/ESPN has the eyes and ears of the CFP committee. The things said on that show resonate and they'll spend an inordinate amount of time talking about the Buckeyes this Saturday. That will, directly or indirectly influence committee members, CFB media (think AP voters), and will most likely continue into AA next week if the Buckeyes and TTUN win.
I think it's important to recognize this 'PR' aspect of Gameday and am concerned the fanbase isn't seeing it that way.
On the 'Houston' example look at the way the left side of the Oline handled the stunt.
So who am I to believe?
In my twitter timeline I've got Dan Wetzel from Yahoo (they're so bad Pat fricking Forde jumped from that rat infested ship to another in SI) saying it's an agent.
Then I've got Bruce Feldman from The Athletic (whom I also subscribe and wish they had a deep discount for you students reading this) saying that the loan source is NOT an agent.
Personally while I loathe Stewart Mandel he has made some great hires over at The Athletic (Staples, Ari and Bill) and would trust Feldman more than anyone from Yahoo.
IF that's the case CY didn't lie, this thing is much less problematic and we see him back in 2 weeks for Penn State.
THIS JUST IN... the NCAA has announced that, as punishment for receiving improper benefits, Chase Young will be drafted by the
Miami DolphinsCincinnati Bengals in the 2020 draft.
Fixed it for you.
Let me dream...
As of this moment Hollywood Casino Lawrenceburg IN still showing Maryland +43
'Well at least tomorrow will be more interesting than expected' - Mr. Obvious.
Flip side to this: Penn State will fly in on Friday, get to the hotel with a quick turnaround for early Saturday morning. Disrupts their routine.
Buckeyes experience a normal Saturday noon routine.
Personally I'd like the affect it has on the visiting team for a noon start time. If the game is good the crowd will be loud.
It may be blasphemy but Northwestern +28 looks good now.
This game IS an 11AM kickoff...for Wisconsin (body clocks) and their fans back home.
Initial thoughts on this, and I'm fine with the time:
1. Fox's stated strategy has been to 'win' the noon slot with ratings. This definitely will do that for Oct 26.
2. This would have been a perfect choice for Gameday, a noon kickoff will change that and again, a win for Fox.
3. Does Fox's pregame show come onsite for this game? I would think so but who knows. Again, ratings.
It's all about the $$ folks, don't ever forget that.
Having only 2 games of (somewhat vanilla) schemes and plays so far from Ryan Day and Jeff Haley on tape how much of an advantage does OSU have regarding other teams game planning for the Buckeyes? I'd think Indiana will be a telling instance of this bearing itself out. What say you sir?
I was at the UC game last Thursday. UC's right tackle # 51 was a 6 foot 9 inch Freshman. He committed at least 2 false starts and one holding penalty.
OSU's defensive ends will eat well on Saturday.
I was at the UC game on Thursday. That defense is decent and only gave up two big plays which accounted for almost 75% of UCLA's total offense. Ohio State will win by 10 - 13 points.
I'll take the points here at 17 and it probably gets bet down to 13.5 by week's end.
"Former Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer was back at practice on Wednesday, and he spent time chatting with his successor Ryan Day."
Probably asking for Darrion Henry's phone number...
So A, F, A, F, A...I do NOT like the continuation of this trend (not expecting it anyways...)
Wow. First Fields. Then Mattison, now Washington. Tomorrow Coach Day will kill Barzini, Phillip Tattaglia. Moe Green. Stracci. Cuneo.
OG's will get the reference...
Hopefully the real rival will be FC Cincinnati...#hellisreal
Offense looked solid again. Not concerned at all with OLine and slightly concern with the penalties as we've been there before on this issue many times.
My big concern is the the defense and the ability of it to give up the big play (again). LB's out of position, bad angles from the DB's and a lot of missed tackles. This was from the ones in the 1st half.
Tulane didn't have the talent to take advantage. PSU does. #worried.
