Agree completely. Especially because Fields’s younger sister Jaiden signed to play softball for the Bulldogs after the Sasser incident took place which indicates that the family doesn’t consider the campus a bad environment. Or why would they allow her to play out of the same clubhouse as Sasser?
He's also a big fan of Coach K at Duke and has said previously he hoped his son was coached by him. You're right, it will be interesting where he goes and true indicator of his thoughts on Howard as a coach. (Although his son isn't a big, as he's listed as 5' 10" Guard.)
Normally, I'd agree, but he seems recruiting-wise to have lots of respect as a coach with numerous NBA players, (and their kids). Worried it may be a similar situation to Penny Hardaway.
Also, he has 2 sons currently playing on same team with one of our highest rated 2020 prospects and I am watching for a shift and how that turns out.
Actually, we would do well with him as an assistant if he gets cut loose. He's purported to be a defensive wizard. Totally changed tsun after he got there. Heard Texas is already trying to poach him.
Where have you been? You are looking at this so yesterday. TSUN is a basketball school !
Sounds like my worst nightmare of a season. Don't tell me, "Justin Fields is ruled ineligible" also.
What are you talking about?! ttun is a basketball school !
Didn't work that way for Haskins either
Dude, that is half the problem!! Everyone worried about paths to CFP. This isn't about any damn championship! This is about beating tsun and winning THE GAME !!!
This is the greatest game and rivalry in college football! This isn't about being Clemsoned, what happens in Morgantown or how unstoppable bama is , this is THE GAME !!! Doesn't matter which side you are on, both sides feel it as passionately. Nothing else matters!
Forget about nattys and anything else.
Urbs put it best " This is the greatest rivalry in all of sport. Not college football, ALL of sport.”
There's another similar one in the New York Times. “The story is that Ohio State’s aspiration is to be Michigan.” What gives? With Ramzy quoted.
The bad part is 3 of the 4 of them have the 3 highest accuracy % of the season.
Just to add the caveat "... as long as that legacy isn't in another uniform."
Hate to say it but this could be a very real possibility. I have heard the same on numerous levels. He's a very class individual and if he's made his decision would be just the type to show the coaching staff the respect and inform them in person. Especially, since he lives in vicinity.
I think if we don't hear a commitment right afterward, that ship may have sailed.
Think we already know who his replacement would be at least initially, Ryan Day, coach-in-waiting
RIGHT!! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!
Barkley did carry that team. Sure they had some good receivers which produced other options, but everything worked because opposing teams had to constantly concern themselves with Barkley. And the moment they didn't he burned them.
There is a reason the NFL was salivating over him and drafted #2 overall.
Franklin would be silly to stay if he gets offered the USC job. He's just not the coach Meyer or tsun has. He almost lost his job a few years back but luckily landed an overlooked superstar. He'll do no better than 3-4 in the B1G-East if he stays.
Sad to say, I agree we will be losing Meyer, just too much writing on the wall.
He did refer to the team itself using the wolverines, and sometimes the "wolverine coach" but never the school, only using "That School up North"
That's why I love when they have a good team, with something to really lose in this game. (2006 repeat!)
When we win and knock over their little apple cart, it's so much sweeter watching them skulk home with their little tails between their legs!!
The thought of that is rather funny, given the historical scheme of both teams. Couldn't you just see Woody and Bo rolling over in the graves with a Oklahoma/Big12 -like 55-50 final score in The Game . (Eclipsing the 42-39 score in 2006,)
Though he may roll, he'd still be grinning as long as we were victorious.
Ask Temple how that turned out.
Don't know if I believe the "fair" as they have still not played any serious strong contenders yet,... however I can see it happening with this CFP committee.
I agree. I think this is a good hire for both sides. Miles wants to coach again for say next 5-6 years and from Kansas viewpoint he's still got a big name and some cred, am sure still has some recruiting contacts in SEC areas and should get them to a bowl game, maybe fighting for middle half of conference. It is Kansas afterall, so doubt he'd become a national contender, but could put some teeth with an upset or two fear in the top couple Big 12 teams.
Agree. What kind of coaching does it take to take almost all Top 150 or higher recruits over the last 4 years and turn them into this mess we have in the defensive backfield. I think you need to include his name in the "Coaches for Replacement" and look at almost an entire defensive coaching staff replacement.
