He had mediocre or worse teams at Ball State before he even got here. It was a terrible hire from the start. As the JP said, we’re not looking for national titles, but 90s level success where the program was in the hunt for conference titles every year and made the super regional 4 times seems reasonable
My brother was a student at OSU in 06, and he lived in a party house frequented regularly by football players. He tells It like it’s a fact, not a rumor. Divided the entire locker room apparently
I watched that same UF need a missed 40 yard field goal to beat 6 loss South Carolina at home in 06, and thinking they weren’t very good at all... 8 out of 10 is stretching it big time..playing in the regular season without a 51 day layoff would have made the result different, I can almost promise you that
Imagine a situation where a guy was from OH, played at OSU, and coached there 7 seasons, we would all assume he’d come here because there’s no better job, no better $, as well as the personal connection. That’s the exact situation Alabama will be in, and I can almost guarantee their fans and trustees will not accept anybody other than him when it comes to that.
Much like the ND/UM/OSU clause in Urban’s contract at Florida. I’d be curious if he has an Alabama clause. Alabama would absolutely pay an 80 million buyout and him 15 mil a year if it came to that after Saban retires.
Clemson getting 5 star recruits is a scary thing. Gotta respect what Dabo has built there with recruiting classes mostly outside the top 10. I just cannot fathom how they retain assistant coaches like they do. The fact the Scott/Elliot and especially Venables are still there and they’ve had essentially no turnover after 4 straight playoffs and 2 nattys is just astounding to me. That said, what they’re doing wouldn’t be possible without FSU’s demise and the ACC being so pathetic
They played the greatest 3rd period in the history of the franchise
Tampa seems unbeatable and they certainly destroyed us each time we played this year. But if Bob can show up for once in the playoffs, the CBJ will probably never have the scoring death they currently have ever again (7 guys with 20 plus goals), so I think they have shot for an upset. The 8 beating a president’s cup winner has happened plenty of times before in the NHL.
I actually hung on to a lot of my GI JOES, and when I was in high school, sold a couple in decent condition to a dude down the street for 50$ A piece. He told me years later that his collection had been appraised for 250,000$. There’s gonna be some serious to be had as the 80’s/90’s babies keep aging and getting richer. Have you’ve seen that show “sloppy’s world” on Netflix? Seemed real dumb at first, but I couldn’t stop watching. Dude makes an absolute fortune selling items from that era
The Bengals ARE NOT drafting Haskins. People mocking him there have no idea the nature of Mike Brown. Even if people think he’s soured on his ability to be a franchise QB (which he hasn’t because he’s an idiot), they pay Andy 14 MIL a year, which is pennies on the dollar for serviceable NFL QB. He is and always will be a cheap skate, except when it comes to giving big deals out to guys and overpaying them past their prime so they end their careers as Bengals like he did with Dunlap and Atkins. I wouldn’t put it past him doing the same with Andy.
NFL coaches and scouts are some of the worst kind of narcissists. They believe because Jones was coached by Cutcliffe at Duke, he’s the 3rd manning brother.
That quote right there pretty much describes every single TTUN fan I’ve meant in my entire life
On paper at least, Shea in year two, with Collins, Black and DPJ seems like a potential very formidable passing attack with a competent play caller.
People always bring this up, but I was at that game, and MSU started stuffing him in the 4th quarter and we wore down
Watch the 13’ and 15’ MSU games and you might see the point. We got physically beat up by teams that wanted it more and half their starters were from OH that we didn’t offer.
And on Laveon Bell, Luke Kuecley, Jake Ryan, Javon Ringer, Jake Butt, Taco Charlton, Derek Wolf, Mitch Trubisky....and on and on. You could make a very long list
Just get rid of the Urban strategy of slow playing in state guys. This has hurt us bad not only with recruits, but with the HS coaches
You second paragraph is so wrong on so many levels. The reason Zeke had so many yards is because Cardale’s ability to sling it vertically made their D’s never bring the a S to the line of scrimmage and also force them to drop an LB in coverage and/or play nickel most of the game.
Unfortunately you are right
I disagree whole heartedly with 8-10 win seasons. The BIG’s ascension towards better football didn’t fully occur until the 15/16 seasons. Which was caused by a much higher emphasis on national recruiting, which was caused by Urban. So if Urban never came, I’d say it would have been business as usual for Tress. Winning the BIG and getting creamed on the national stage. Remember how bad the 2012 team was? They went undefeated because the BIG was absolutely dreadful
I like alternative uniforms because it seems to be good for recruiting. Not during the game though, and I wish the would stop that. This year was refreshing
Carved out a decent career in the league at different position also. Gotta at least respect that
That game truthfully was one of the worst performances I’ve ever seen in Big game by a buckeyes QB. Haskins starts that game and we would have won by 6 touchdowns and been in the playoff.
Tebow is successfully climbing all levels of the minor leagues and he went 10 years without playing baseball, so I disagree with notion of “zero chance” of being successful in baseball after a couple years of not playing.
I agree with you 100%, I’m simply stating the fact that if the BIG had only 8 conference games, those two games (cross divisional teams) would have never happened, and what a different world we would be in if that were the case.
