I enjoy going back and re-watching that win, except I wish I could mute any of Dan Fouts comments during the game.
I was at OSU during that blizzard too. Baker Commons ran out of all beverages except fruit punch (which nobody drank anyway), but six of us piled in a car and slid (literally) our way to some beer distributor (I can't remember which one) and loaded up for the weekend. I can remember class was canceled on a Friday at noon after I had walked from South Campus to chemistry lab that morning. It was awful!
Still crazy in my mind that Urban can go 82-9 at OSU, win 3 B1G titles and 1 National Championship and never win a B1G COY
Wilmington, NC (via Beaver,OH and Cincinnati)
Joe Klatt posted the best analysis I've seen regarding the committee process this year
I have the picture of the scoreboard framed in my Buckeye room as a gift from my daughter-in-law. My son, a Buckeye class of 2004 married an App State cheerleader who was cheering on the Mountaineers at the Big House!
My son and I live in NC now, and got tickets to watch the game at Cameron Indoor, so that was a great experience. btw, we weren't harassed by any Dukies and mostly (aside from the loss) enjoyed ourselves. I was told the place was small, but I didnt realize the place was also old and really hot during the games ( I was told by a Duke alum that coach K turns off the A/C during the games...don't know if thats true or an urban legend).
It seemed that in the 2nd half, Craft's inability to score allowed Duke to blanket DT. they basically left Craft open to shoot. Tough place to play for sure, and I agree that in the 2nd half, we looked a bit rattled. Amir needs to play stronger inside (sure missed Sullly in this one). OVerall though, I was proud we played them tough in their snakepit gym and nearly came away with a win.
Dont envy you Orlando...I live in NC and my first day on my new job, we had a social event on the beach and I wore an OSU tee. Three guys wearing U of F gear walked over to give me crap about OSU (this was in 2008). My best response has been "you realize I sign your paychecks".
I would have recommended the wearing of maize shirts to the practice "loafers" if you want to go that way. That should get under the skin of any Buckeye. Recently I wanted to buy a pair of Asics Revolution 3 shoes for tennis but the only color was yellow and I couldn't bear the thought of wearing them on the court.
I agree with German...my dislike of Bielema and Whisky is approaching Hoke/scUM proportions!
With regards to the OH - IO on the street, I'd agree that yelling it on the street is a bit over the top. However, having moved from Ohio to SEC country, its nice to hear an OH from another Buckeye on occasion.
Benzinger caught the final out in foul territory. Jose Rijo had an awesome series, too
I agree with BUCKSFANXC. Every time we'd make a run and get a lead, we seemed to relax and let the Illini back in the game. You can't continually do that on the road and win. We should have built on the 11 pt lead early in the 2nd half and put them away on the road. I was at the SC game, and it nearly happened there as well. I am really disappointed that late in close games, Craft and Buford have made key turnovers. On the other hand, Paul's performance was ridiculous. I knew we were doomed when Weber called a time-out with 4 sec on shot clock and then Paul made a fall away 3 with Craft in his shorts on the in bound play.
I can take some comfort that llike last year, it requires somebody like a Jordan Taylor or Moore from Purdue to have a career day on us to beat us.
