To the guys who watch a lot of film, any thoughts on how McCord stacks up to Stroud and Miller? I just wonder what the path is to McCord being the starter at Ohio State. Will he have a shot to win the job in 2021? Will he have to redshirt and wait until his redshirt sophomore year in 2023? The narrative has been focused on that the loser of the 2020 QBs will transfer, but I wonder how McCord also factors into all this being that he’s only 1 year behind them. Overall I like the transfer portal and think it will be a net positive for Ohio State, but QB depth is going to be a yearly roller coaster

It’s a beautiful sight to open up the state of Ohio rankings and see the top 5 players all committed to the Bucks already. This class is a perfect storm for us in that Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Michigan all have really strong classes. Our own state is locked down and we have a foothold to land 4-6 more top Midwest players from MI and PA. Makes it so much easier that we’ll probably only have to hit on like 7 or 8 distant national blue chip targets instead of 15-18 like some previous classes

He already does. All the coaches with “no other visits” policies seem to have no issue with hosting recruits committed to other schools

So Edwards has a Michigan alum head coach, some of his best friends and former teammates are current Michigan players, he’s been to Michigan seven times, and hasn’t visited OSU since last June. Despite all that, OSU is considered the leader by national insiders and Sam Webb. Even if we’re being told to temper the optimism, all that just seems like a really good sign

Looking like Texas Tom is gonna miss on a home state 5 star OT (and his 4 star brother) who are third generation Longhorns. Really thought he’d have made Texas more relevant by now

Here is some news by the Fong that does not suck. The new 247 #1 running back Treveyon Henderson (11 on 247 in-house and 27 composite) says he’s being recruited hardest by Ohio State and Oklahoma. Fong says OSU in a great spot for him and Clemson is not the leader that everyone thought they were in the fall

If you look at all time program achievements instead of recency bias, there’s a clear top 8 separated from the rest of the pack. Alabama, USC, Ohio State, Michigan, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas, and Notre Dame

I don’t fully agree. Georgia football underachieves in the sense that the team is typically less than the sum of its parts, but on a player by player basis they are good at developing for the NFL. Not better than Ohio State, but still somewhere in the top 5 for sending guys to the league. I’d recruit against Georgia’s 40 year championship drought more than I would their draft record

Why are people so hard on Saban for losing a total of 2 games after losing his best player on both offense and defense? If Ohio State lost Chase Young before the season and Justin Fields halfway through it, we would have been in real trouble

This is the most disappointed I’ve been in a player moving positions in a long time. Stover was a borderline top 100 defensive recruit which we haven’t gotten a lot of of the past couple cycles with our classes being so offensively heavy, and now he’s moving to an already deep position that we barely even utilize to begin with. I just wonder why he couldn’t find a spot on defense despite coming in as a such a highly regarded recruit

Maryland insider just CB’d 5 star quarterback Caleb Williams to Maryland. Interesting because some of the big dogs like Oklahoma and LSU are after Williams hard

I agree. The endless finger pointing of every fanbase towards other schools every time they miss on a recruit is getting old. Hell, other fan bases call us O$U.

Just noticed that Ryan Watts got his position on 247 changed to safety. Any concern here that while Watts and Cavazos are long, fast, and strong, they may not have the hips and quickness of change in direction to be shutdown corners? I’m cautiously optimistic for both of them, but this is something that will remain in the back of my mind. Part of my concern is because we recruited Tyreke Johnson as a corner when most viewed him as having more of a safety body, and he hasn’t panned out so far

It’s definitely a good thing though. Part of Lawrence’s interception problem early in the year is that they only had tall jump ball receivers and were still figuring out how to replace Renfrow. It’s nice to have a small slot toy receiver to complement the big guys on the outside

The whole “southern girls are hotter” thing smells of unscientific nonsense to me. Like there’s no beauty gene that gets passed along to a person just because they were born in a particular geographic area. If anything Colorado and Montana have the hottest girls because those states have the lowest obesity rate

I’m fine with Day having 1 more year on his current contract because there’s zero chance he’s going anywhere at the moment but if he has another big season and recruiting class, that’s when we open the checkbook

The crazy thing is they actually haven’t recruited all that insanely well until this past cycle. To me they are surpassing Bama as the best program in the country right now. OSU is the closest to the top tier though outside those 2. It’s Clemson and Alabama at the top, then Ohio State, then LSU/Oklahoma/Georgia/Oregon all jumbled together if you look at the overall first six years of results of the playoffs

Just saw a Notre Dame DB signee was arrested for Burglary. Probably too little too late for them and Cam Martinez but I wonder if this will cause them to make one last desperate push
