Ok, so I did some quick analysis to see what would have happened if the Browns would have just selected the best Buckeye available from 2014 to 2017.

Note: I used the original draft order posted for that year on NFL.com. I did not factor in trades. For example, the Browns stay put at #2 overall last year and draft Joey Bosa instead of making the Carson Wentz trade with Philadelphia.

Here we go:

2017

Round 1, Pick 1 (1) – Marshon Lattimore instead of Myles Garrett

Round 1, Pick 12 (12) – Malik Hooker instead of trading back

Round 2, Pick 1 (33) – Curtis Samuel instead of trading

Round 2, Pick 20 (52) – Raekwon McMillan instead of Deshone Kizer

Round 3, Pick 1 (65) – Pat Elflein instead of Larry Ogunjobi

Round 6, Pick 4 (188) – Noah Brown instead of trading

2016

Round 1, Pick 2 (2) – Joey Bosa instead of trading  (the Carson Wentz trade)

Round 2, Pick 1 (32) – Michael Thomas instead of Emmanuel Ogbah

Round 3, Pick 2 (65) – Adolphus Washington instead of Carl Nassib

Round 4, Pick 1 (99) – Josh Perry instead of Joe Schobert

Round 4, Pick 40 (138) – Cardale Jones instead of Seth DeValve

2015

Round 1, Pick 19 (19) – Devin Smith instead of Cameron Irving

Round 3, Pick 13 (77) – Jeff Heuerman instead of Duke Johnson

Round 4, Pick 12 (111) – Doran Grant instead of trading

Round 5, Pick 11 (157) – Michael Bennett instead of trading

2014

Round 1, Pick 4 (4) – Ryan Shazier instead of trading (the Sammy Watkins trade that ended with the Browns picking Justin Gilbert and Johnny Football)

Round 1, Pick 26 (26) – Bradley Roby instead of trading

Round 2, Pick 3 (35) – Carlos Hyde or Jack Mewhort instead of Joel Bitonio

Round 5, Pick 5 (145) – Corey Linsley instead of trading

Round 7, Pick 3 (218) – Christian Bryant instead of trading
