I’m showing my ignorance, I know, but can someone explain what it means when a school “pulls a scholarship?” I understand that there are conditions for every scholarship (both academic and athletic). However, if those conditions are met (GPA, discipline, etc), how is it possible for a school to withdraw the scholarship? Is the scholarship only year to year? Or, for athletic scholarships, can scholarships be pulled merely because a player has been unable to contribute on the field? Or is it that scholarships aren’t really withdrawn, but players are pressured to “move on”? (I asked these same questions via a comment on the Friday Skull Session, but I'm posting it here because this is the article that prompted my questions.). Can anyone help me out?

In covering recruiting, I'm sure you hear plenty of rumors about cash payments or other illegal enticements to athletes. Without giving away details, have you heard stories like these from the recruits you've covered? How prevalent is it? Anything you can share?

This is too bad for everyone. But I wonder whether someone can put up a GoFundMe page or similar page for 11Warriors to donate to DownSyndrome Achieves. We'll miss the fun this year, but at least the purpose of the event can be kept front and center.

Come on, let's keep it real. This forum would be full of comments like those if Bama Billy Bob wrote on 11W those same things about a Buckeye commitment. And justifiably, I think.

Best days behind him? Well, he IS getting older. But how come writers like this focus so much on points and shooting efficiency and discount the qualities it takes to mold and lead an inexperienced team into a playoff contender? In those departments, LeBron is light years ahead of where he was a couple years ago.
