They had Michigan at only 19 for most of the game with one TD coming off only a quick change and Michigan on the 9. It wasn't until we got up three scores that the defense started having issues but a lot of that was just letting Michigan march up the field instead of giving up big plays
McMurphy is kinda toast anyway though. A lot of people a destroying him for this story because it was so quickly denied and done by everyone from the university president down to actual players. When a story is denied so quickly and the person you're writing about tells you to shove it then you've really fucked up.
Considering that this isn't the CFP poll & the fact that Ohio State got blown out by Purdue, 9th is about where they should be. Plus #1 has to play #5. #4 with play us in two weeks. and #6 & #7 will probably play twice. Ohio State is in contention and will probably get in if the win out. A Notre Dame loss would make it way easier but they're not in a bad spot at all
Screens can be good when facing a blitz. Dobbins had a large gain against Penn State from a screen. The only bad screen was on the 3rd & Long
Justin Zwick was a 5* but didn't do shit with Ohio State & Troy was clearly better. AJ Hawk is on the Mt Rushmore of Ohio State LBs but he was only a 3*. Sometimes guys just don't work out and don't live up to their recruiting rating. Davis has been bad since he got here but Schiano has been very good with Ohio State except this year. This year the secondary is extremely young and inexperienced compared to 2017, 2016, & 2015. People just need to accept that 2018 is a "down" year and most of these players should be better next year.
At this point in the year the defense is what the defense is. Gutting it right before a big Michigan State game basically guarantees that they lose that game & against Michigan. Accept that this year isn't the year and that coaching changes need to happen, mainly Davis being fired & a change in the defensive philosophy to help the young players
Getting rid of Grinch is such an overreaction it's beyond scary. Davis definitely needs to go because the LBs have been a liability both years he's been here but firing a coach after one year is never good unless they are beyond terrible. The team is very young & 2018 just isn't the year.
Based on what Kirby Hocutt said it sounded like they're mind was made up barring a 59-0 blow out
Ohio State in the Arctic Camo
I think Michigan is most likely not getting in the playoff. The committee won't put 2 teams from the same conference when both didn't win their division, especially when 1 of them lost 2 games in November
Question, why are people upset that we're behind Stanford? This poll & the AP poll both have Ohio State right behind Stanford (4 points in Coaches, 18 in AP), & this poll has nothing to do with the preseason poll. Most people based on they poll think Stanford & Ohio State are pretty much equal
If we had played Notre Dame every year from the first meeting in 1935, it would be one of the biggest rivalries in the country. WE've only played 5 times and other than Michigan, Notre Dame is probably the team we hate the most
I think that happened because they were on the field for 40 minutes. In the 1st half they were stopping Michigan State other than that long pass. In the 2nd half the offense would have the ball for 90 seconds then the defense had to stop their offense from even getting pass midfield because we knew the offense wasn't going to score
While this is an opportunity for Cardale to play well I don't he'll be able to win the job back because of where we are in the season. I think Urban's seen through 7 games is Cardale can be great but J.T is better in the areas that will win a B1G championship. If he made a switch 1 week before the Michigan State - Iowa stretch it could hurt the team
The 3 other QBs resumes go as follow:
28-8 Record as a Starter; 2 Silver Footballs
12-1 Record as a Starter; 5th in Heisman Voting
10-0 Record as a Starter; Starter in both CFP Victories
So it's not surprising he hasn't crossed the 2-Deep
Heather Dinich is a moron. "The CFP committee won't let last year saw their decisions this year". I'm calling Bravo Sierra. If FSU was number 2 to start last year then they definitely look at last year when making the rankings
I expect something similar to last year. Minus Carroo Rutgers' skill players aren't much better than last year & their defense is one of the worst in the B1G.
Ohio State 49 - Rutgers 17
Apple & Conley need to learn to turn their head. There have been many times this year when a ball has almost hit them in the back that could've been INTs but they were staring at the receiver to a fault. They've also have received some penalties due this as well.
Tyvis has played well this year but needs to take better angels on plays. The WMU play is a perfect example.
Vonn is an All-American Safety, probably the best since Mike Doss, but needs to not refrain from trash talking to the other team's sideline & getting unsportsmanlike penalties.
Saying all that this might be the best secondary at Ohio State since the late 90s
Well we have 2 stadiums why not a third. The Horseshoe East: Buckeyes coming 10/24/15
Jalin had deep ins because the Safeties would cheat the the numbers which left a void in the middle of the field. Jalin hasn't done a lot of the Devin Smith or Ted Ginn routes where he's just running full speed down field
The vibe I got in the student section was people were waiting for the mistake they thought Cardale was going to make, or when Barkley was going to get 50 on another run play
