Why didn't the refs review the elbow thrown toward the end of the game by #13 for Gonzaga? He threw it after he and CJ Jackson struggled for the ball, and Jackson was called for the foul. If the refs had reviewed, and determined it was a Flagrant #1, the Buckeyes would have shot 2 FT's and got the ball. Instead, #13 shot and made 2 FT's. And it was game over.

Regardless, super proud of the Bucks excellent year. Just wish the ref could have reviewed a swung elbow, after reviewing and giving Wesson a Flagrant 1 earlier in the game.

Did anyone catch why the refs didn't review the elbow thrown toward the end of the game by #13 for Gonzaga? Did you guys see the vids of Petit-Frere on ESPN? This kid is a quality dude! Very well spoken, respectful, humble as heck. A far cry from some kids (ahem, Carmen Jackson), who clearly think they already have all the answers. Petit-Frere is EXACTLY the type of recruit Urban Meyer wants in his program. I do hope his "nice" switch can be turned off once on the filed, though ... and the young man comes to mash. Welcome to Columbus, Nicholas!

Ash was well known to Meyer, Beck was not. Ash's D at Wisconsin made things tough for the Buckeye O, and Meyer and Co. took notice. If things didn't work out at Ark, that might have been to the soft D those Ark players were already used to playing. When Ash came to OSU, the Buckeyes were not playing soft, and fell right in line with his style.

So Beck was an unknown (relatively) ... but I'm not sure what Meyer's excuse for Bill Davis would be. Davis was Meyer's "Best Man" and one of his closest friends. Meyer, in the past, has not hired good friends because of this very reason ... it makes it harder to fire your friends ... which is exactly what I wish he'd do with Davis. The Buckeyes used to be "LB U" ... taking that title from Penn State. No way OSU can say we're "LB U" now ... even though Meyer brings in 4 and 5 start talent.

If Buck68 is making you decipher what the heck he's talking about ... then that means he's not communicating well ... and that is not intelligence. IMO, it seems clear Buck68 enjoys hearing himself talk, and has likely had others in his life tell him how smart he is ... which only eggs on his desire to throw more babble. Maybe that's a bit harsh, but the point again remains ... If your reader isn't sure what you're talking about ... then you're only defeating your own message. What is more important and the point of writing? "Sounding" intelligent? Or effectively communicating thought?

This is a big "wait and see" for me. I hope I hope I hope ... Urban Meyer hands the offense over to Wilson and Day. IF that happens ... I have ZERO doubt our offense will be next to unstoppable. The issue of the past few years (including this past year) was Urban's insistence on running the RPO and conservative play-calling. Will he be willing and able to change that mind-set now that JT is gone and he has two of the best offensive minds in college football? ... AND a QB in Haskins with an NFL arm? We will see. But giving the O to Wilson and Day also serves in Meyer's wish to take more stress off his shoulders and enjoy the game more. Hope I hope I hope ... this happens.

Be the best dang recruiter in the country that you are, coach. And let your excellent coaches coach!

JT wasn't the QB when OSU absolutely dominated 3 of the best teams in college ball on the way to the 2015 national title. Cardale Jones was. Haskins is a better passer than Cardale. Let him throw. Kevin Wilson and Ryan Day know how to throw ... better than Urban Meyer knows how to run.

Comment 23 Jan 2018

JCam - Well not exactly. The 2014 team won the national title because of Tom Herman calling down-field passing plays for Cardale Jones. That was not Urban Meyer's RPO offense. Heading into 2015, with Herman now gone and Cardale still at QB, Urban went back to the RPO. Beck and Warinner were clear about what kind of O Meyer wanted to run ... and it didn't work. The RPO used to be inventive. It's taken years for Meyer to realize the rest of college ball has more than caught up ... if he's learned that at all. We'll see.

Does Ryan Day look a little like Harry Connick Jr ... or what?

Glad to have him! Wondering if being the "play-caller" means ... "As long as you call my plays" ... so says Urban Meyer? And does this promotion re-set the 2 year commitment Meyer asks of his assistant coaches? Also, what is Kevin Wilson's role? Dude has a very good and proven track record of producing high-octane offenses.

I hope I hope I hope ... Urban Meyer knows he has two of the best offensive minds in the college game ... and will hand over all (or at least 99%) of offensive play-calling and design duties to these two great coaches!

This O will be unstoppable ... IF Urban Meyer gives the O keys to Kevin Wilson and Ryan Day. Weber and Dobbins will have field days every Saturday, the WR's will confirm why they came back for another year, the TE will play a big role, and Haskins might win the dang Heisman ... just like Kevin Wilson coached Sam Bradford did at OU.

Campbell dropped one ball this year vs OU ... and a few LAST year. Your view of him is tainted from the previous year. Throw it to him more than two times a game and we'll see him flourish. Kevin Wilson needs to have control of the O.

Comment 16 Jan 2018

The ONLY reason these WR's are returning ... is because of Dwayne Haskins being the QB. I just hope Urban Meyer has given these players assurances he will be handing the offense over to Kevin Wilson. The reason ... in reverse ... is why Jalen Marshall and Noah Brown left early ... because of the RPO and the fact they knew they wouldn't be playing in an offense that throws the ball.

Let's hope things change for the '18 Buckeyes and Paris Campbell, Johnny Dixon, Terry McLaurin, Austin Mack and the other WR become house-hold names. The offense MUST change. #Kevin Wilson ... #Dwayne Haskins.

Baker will be missed. Great talent behind him, but very good leadership and skill himself.

He led all LB's in most of their biggest games ... 7 tackles vs OU, 7 vs PSU ... about the only LB to show up vs Iowa with 8 ... and a whopping 16 tackles (7 for loss) vs Wisconsin. He led the team in tackles, and led all LB's in passes broken up.

To say Baker was "their biggest liability easily" ... is just silly. He had 16 tackles vs Wisconsin ... 7 for loss! And led all LB's in most of their biggest games ... 7 vs OU, 7 vs PSU ... and about the only LB to show up vs Iowa ... with 8 tackles. He led the team in tackles. He led all LB's in passes broken up. Not sure what you're talking about in Baker being the "biggest liability". ... http://www.cfbstats.com/2017/player/518/1072199/tackle/gamelog.html

Also ... if he's going pro, then clearly there are people who know the game who think he's pretty darn good.
