You can't call out anyone while failing to write sentences with proper punctuation. Passes don't stop the clock if you hit them. We have a few guys - KJ Hill, Chris Olave, you might've heard of them - who have a knack for getting open and moving the chains.

Hi Josh, love to see you on BTN!

How does it feel as a space defender (linebacker or defensive back) to be mixing coverages and personnel packages constantly? I believe under Urban we played predominantly man coverage, putting our athletes on an island, but I've heard Mattison/Hafley are adding amorphous looks and multiple personnel packages to confuse the offense.  Is this a heavy mental burden on the players, or can switching between different looks and responsibilities feel refreshing for these guys?

Godspeed, Coach. Riding off into the sunset with a national championship and 7-0 over TTUN. It's funny how time has a way of blending together, but when I think back, it's crazy how continuing excellence has become such a norm under Coach's leadership. Every Saturday the enemy would give us their very best shot, and usually it would end up not mattering. That's how you know a true winner.

Thanks, for everything.

Interesting to see the SI WMD about the basketball court above the Supreme Court chamber.  I'm a law student living in DC, and when I visited the Supreme Court the Clerk of Court (a very high position) told us that the basketball court was a myth.  Not sure why they would lie about that.  Either they were lying, or SI's story is completely wrong.  Neither makes sense to me.

Why is this guy always spouting legal opinions that are just flat out wrong (which is to say nothing about his other opinions)?  Stop with the stupid hot take stuff man.  As someone who will actually be a certified lawyer very soon, I'll tell you that you can fire an at-will employee for no reason whatsoever.  And even if he's not a classic at-will employee (he's under contract), I'm sure there are such clauses written into his contract.  He would still be paid the duration of his contract, sure, but he can't sue Ohio State simply for being fired.

DJ - as many have said, thank you for all you have done with the Skull Session.  Your unique humor and writing style ensured that I often went into work/school in a good mood, which I believe makes a world of difference.  No matter where life takes you, never give up writing - you really do have a talent.

Best of luck in the fight ahead.  From the Waffle House to the White House, we'll always be behind you.

Speaking for myself, as someone who grew up in Ohio but wasn't an Ohio State fan until I enrolled in 2012, I am most interested in the rivalry with Michigan because of that history.  Even in my casual fandom of the Buckeyes growing up (born in 93) I hardly remember any Michigan success, as I started watching when Tressel came in.  While yes MSU has taken much more from the Buckeyes since I've been a serious fan, it doesn't have the cultural relevance of The Game, and to me that will remain the difference, regardless of wins and losses.  Though as you are arguing, 7-10 more years of this and my opinion might be different.

Very sad - one of my standbys when I was a student there (2012-16). I really dislike the bureaucracy of this university.  The last thing they need is more offices, I promise you. There's entire buildings on campus of "Student Development of Off-Campus Leadership blah blah blah offices that are never used or relied-upon by anybody.  It's just about more jobs for the administrators.  They've gotta do something with all that tuition money, I guess, but still, don't wipe out campus staples for more useless office space.

"And one national pundit believes Penn State's apotheosis under James Franklin worthy of the No. 2 ranking."

Impressive. Surprised your editors (cats) allowed that one. Careful, lest this football blog turn into avant garde sports poetry. Or maybe it already has. Just a matter of time until ESPN comes calling, if their blogger scouting is all it's cracked up to be.

Seriously though, the Ringer for basketball and the Skull Session are how sports writing is meant to be. Hot take, but true.

From a purely legal perspective, we could see this coming when Zeke won at the District Court and the NFL, being the loser, appealed to the 5th Circuit - the most conservative circuit court in the country. And let's not forget that it's not a coincidence that the NFL leveled the suspension right before the season.  Had they given him more time, he could have re-filed, fought it in another circuit court, and likely won an injunction at least for this season.  This is just a bad situation for Zeke, I don't think he can get this case re-filed and appealed up in time to save the Cowboys' season.

Exactly what I've felt and yet had trouble articulating in the face of the absolute maelstrom of Barrett criticism since last Saturday.  Thank you Ramzy for being a guiding light to the (unfortunately large) element of this fanbase who have been conditioned to expect success without adversity, possibly as a result of the ridiculous amount of success that BARRETT HIMSELF has had a significant hand in producing these past 5 years.

"While I'll undoubtedly predict an execution as soon as the first drop of FourLoko blitzes into my blood stream on game day, I will withhold objective prognostication until I see if Meyer shaved or not. If he still looks like a debonair transient, there will be blood on the field."

Another tour de force from football's greatest blogger.  Bravo on the offseason excellence DJ, and particular props to your cats for their editing and management.

As stated, this is going to completely depend on the O line.  They have all the weapons otherwise.  I really want to say 10-6 because the schedule is so damn easy, but this is the Bengals.  So, 9-7. Which frankly would be a disappointment considering the talent on this team, but the line looks to be SO bad.

Confident about the "X" position and somewhat confident about the "H", but if the "Z" isn't any good, those guys will just be double covered and shut down.  Obviously we haven't seen McLaurin or Dixon dominate on a consistent basis, but both have flashed skill.  I would be inclined to give Dixon the first shot based on the limited view we've had of him recently in the spring game.  If healthy, I think he could really live up to his billing and be valuable to the offense.  Could really take pressure off of Victor and Mack

Johnny beat me to it.  You had something going with the rugby argument, which I thought about reading the article, but then it just turned into some rant about ignoring science and logic because "let people have fun".  I love football as much as anyone else, but let's not be willfully ignorant here.  A long term brain injury will have infinitely more impact on your life (or lack thereof) than a broken bone, muscle tear, etc.

Thanks for everything Tim!  Major respect working for so long in what we know is volatile and often difficult industry.  We've all been beneficiaries of your hard work and dedication.

Congrats on the new gig!

Yeah, only thing I think I've ever strongly disagreed about in his videos is the "low quality sacks" thing. That doesn't make a lot of sense because every 3 down defensive end will get coverage sacks and the like, and as you say he only played 12 games.  And being as powerful as he is, he's definitely above average against the run.  Not at all fair or relevant to compare his pass rushing to Mack or Vonn Miller, imo.
