So, about last night...

I tried to keep a level head during the close game against Wisconsin, and for the most part I succeeded. Maybe part of that is the fact that I've been writing about Ohio State football for Eleven Warriors for going on six and a half years now, so I'm a little immune to the ups and downs that come with midseason road games.

Part of it also might have to do with the fact that when Urban Meyer is the coach, there's definitely some confidence-related osmosis that goes on (or arrogance, depending on how Michigan-y you're feeling on a particular day). Either way, it's easy to feel untouchable sometimes as an Ohio State fan.

What I experienced last night is that existential feeling of dread where you feel that the universe is conspiring against you, that some unseen hand of fate is guiding you to your inevitable doom and there isn't anything that you can do to stop it, like you're a minor character in a Final Destination movie and it's the end of the first act.

And then Ohio State won anyway. Take that, karmic balance of the universe!

Next week there should be less philosophizing and more butt-stomping at Penn State, but who knows? The witching hour approaches and things might get a little weird. See you next week.
