Former Ohio State cornerback Doran Grant was promoted from the Pittsburgh Steelers' practice squad to the active roster, the team announced Wednesday.
Grant was a fourth-round pick in the 2015 NFL Draft. He was released prior to the start of the season, but signed to Pittsburgh's practice squad. The Steelers, who currently sit at 4-4, opted to promote Grant on Wednesday.
Grant was a two-year starter at cornerback for the Buckeyes and was the top defensive back on last year's national championship team. He made 49 tackles last season as a senior and was second on the team with five interceptions.
Overall, Grant made 30 career starts at Ohio State and had nine career interceptions. He was a two-time All-Big Ten selection.
