Is Urban the fastest coach to win 46 games at a school? ~SFlaBuckeye13
SFlaBuckeye13,
No. Unfortunately, that record belongs to a coach of That Team. It only took Fielding Yost 47 games to reach 46 wins between 1901 and 1905. Yost had a record of 46-0-1 in his first 47 contests. The tie was against Minnesota (6-6) in Minneapolis in 1903.
Gil Dobie won 46 games in 48 games as Washington's head coach between 1908 and 1915. His record was 46-0-2. He coached Washington between 1908 and 1916 and left the school with an undefeated record (58-0-3).
Urban Meyer tied Lance Leipold of Wisconsin-Whitewater by getting to 46 wins in his first 49 games at one school.
Lance Leipold won 46 of his first 49 games at Wisconsin-Whitewater between 2007 and 2010. He went on to become the fastest coach to win 100 games. Leipold reached the 100 win mark after 106 games at Wisconsin-Whitewater.
Urban Meyer reached 100 wins after 118 games coached between Bowling Green, Utah and Florida.

The list above is what I was able to research. I might have forgotten about a coach. If you know of a coach who did it quicker please post in the comments. Appreciate your help.
Thanks for doing this, as always. My question is slightly of topic from the other ones, but who are the top 3 coaches of The Ohio State University Football team in win percentage (basically who are the winningest coaches) and (this one's optional) what was their record vs TTUN. Thanks! ~BHT
BHT,
Thank you for asking your question it was fun to research. Urban Meyer (.939) leads all Ohio State coaches in winning percentage. Second is Carl Widdoes (.889) and John B. Eckstorm (.810) is third. Widdoes only coached 18 games and Eckstrom 29 games.
21 of Ohio State's 24 coaches have a career record at or above .500. On the flip side only five Ohio State coaches have a winning record against That Team. On a brighter note the Buckeyes are 12-2 against That Team since 2001.
If you put a qualifier of 30 games coached the top three changes.
- Urban Meyer (.939)
- Jim Tressel (.828)*
-
Woody Hayes (.762)

Remy, Zeke went house from 50+ last night, something like the 8th time in his career. How many times exactly has he done this, and is this an Ohio State record? ~Knarcisi
Knarcisi,
Elliott has rushed for what I believe is an Ohio State record 8 touchdowns of 50+ yards in his Ohio State career. I could not find stats on all players, but I believe Elliott is number one on the list. Below is a list of his long distance touchdown runs.

Somewhat related to Knarcisi's question, I think Zeke might hold the record with 3 touchdown runs of 80 yards or more. If we scale that back to 75 or more, it goes up to 4. Are those records? ~BUCKEYE3M
BUCKEYE3M,
Ezekiel Elliott is the only Buckeye to rush for multiple touchdowns of 80 or more yards. Elliott's four touchdowns of 75 yards or more is also an Ohio State record.

#First play from scrimmage of the 1981 season
Our schedule looks to come to a crescendo as the season draws to a close. To win the natty, we will likely need to beat 5 straight ranked teams, potentially 5 straight top 15 teams. Has tOSU ever faced such a grueling stretch? What about any previous national champs? ~BuckU
BuckU,
Ohio State has never played five straight ranked teams. Four is the most I could find. The Buckeyes played four consecutive ranked teams in 2003, 1959 and 1958.
During the 1958 season Ohio State played ranked teams between weeks 5 and 8. No. 2 Iowa was the highest ranked opponent and the lowest was No. 13 Wisconsin. The Buckeyes finished that stretch with a 1-1-2 record.
The next season the Buckeyes faced the four ranked teams at the beginning of 1959. From week 2 through week 5 Ohio State faced teams in the Top 20. The Trojans of USC were the highest ranked at No. 11 and Illinois was the lowest at No. 20. Ohio State went 1-3 and finished the season 3-5.
The 2003 season was the closest to what could face this year's team. 8 of the 13 teams Ohio State played in '03 were ranked. That included a gauntlet of four teams ranked better than 15th to finish the season. Had Penn State been ranked the Buckeyes would have finished the season against five straight top 25 opponents.

Urban Meyer has been incredibly successful after bye weeks in his career. How does he compare to Jim Tressel in that regard during their time here? ~82spencer
82spencer,
Jim Tressel was 3-4 in games played after bye weeks. His teams had difficulties on the road after a week off which is confirmed with his 1-4 record. Tressel never won a game as Ohio State's head coach against ranked opponents (0-3) after a bye week.
Urban Meyer is 3-0 after bye weeks. Meyer has yet to play a ranked opponent after a bye week. That streak should continue this season.

If JT continues on his current trajectory who's career records will he surpass if he stays for two more years. ~GoBucks2204
Prognosticating JT Barrett. With 59 td's in 1-1/2 years of playing (41 passing; 18 rushing), how many td's do you project him to account for with 2 1/2 years of playing time remaining. Also, what is the current total td record? Thanks and GO BUCKS!!!! ~Buckeye1
GoBucks2204 and Buckeye1,
Combining these two questions. The career stats I looked up are total yards, touchdowns, passing yards and rushing yards. If Barrett plays in 29 more games (5 this season and 12 in '16 and 12 in '17) he is on track to surpass all of them except rushing yards.
