Hope he finds what he is looking for. Might be best to move on from the whole "Prototype" thing though, yes?
I want a fall Saturday in Ohio Stadium..
Yeah no kidding. The whole status: rebooting thing is cringeworthy!
Is he the Sherminator in American Pie?
I feel bad for these guys - when they're in High School they've got millionaire coaches flying private jets to have dinner at their house and tell them "Come play for me you've got what it takes, I should know I've put 1000 guys in the NFL" then they get dropped from recruiting class when a shinier prospect comes along or the coach they were going to play for gets fired and the new coach or coordinator doesn't run a system that suits their abilities.
Danny Clark regressed in high school. He was dropped because he was viewed as not very good. He got beat out by a true freshman at Kentucky, that should tell you all you need to know.
Successful people do what they have to, whether they feel like it or not
AND if you watched UK play at all this year, you know QB play was pretty awful. What they ran out there was the best they had.
Kentucky’s QB currently is not a true freshman, if I recall. He has made a few transfers himself.
Ohio, the greatest state in the Union!
I think the starter is Terry Wilson JR who enrolled at Kentucky in 2018 and is a true freshman
He enrolled and redshirted at Oregon and played at a Juco. So, def not a true fresh.
Wilson is a RS Sophomore. His true freshman year was 2016 at Oregon. He took a redshirt that year. Transferred to a JUCO for the 2017 season (essentially his RS FR year) then transferred to UK for 2018.
Maybe people should start taking the whole 8th grade phenom thing w/ a grain of salt.
Yep, we all knew them and played with/against them. Usually the kids that mature before the others. Then by the time they are Juniors, all the other kids have caught up.
But it doesn’t fit the Lane Kiffin business model.
So you’re not a martell fan?
Martell is fine-I sure as hell wouldn't have endorsed offering him as an 8th grader.
Matt Baldwin will probably beat him out. We need a passing qb, not a running back. Sorry but after this year, we can't go backwards
Like from Cardale to JTB? Betcha we can.
Braving the long dark of the offseason
I don't mind if they go back to a duel-threat QB as long as they keep the passing game they have now and don't run the QB 20 times in the big games like they did with JT.
Sometimes it be like that.
It doesn't matter whether you're the lion or a gazelle-when the sun comes up, you'd better be running.
What's Fick's QB situation at UC?
I'm not around that much, running exhausted and lost...
Redshirt freshman that threw for 2300 yards and 19 touchdowns and ran for 500 and 5 touchdowns.
So Fick is good, got it.
The backup next year will be a highly thought of red shirt frosh. No room at UC. Miami???????????
Currently looking like former TTUN Alex Malzone will be starter at Miami next year... so yes anything else will work.
Desmond Ridder for Heisman. Kid should be fun to watch for the next few years. September 7th should be a good one.

There's a team up north that's always looking for a few good QBs to transfer in.

Tyrion: A wedding.
That's funny, but in all seriousness we can't wish that kind of misfortune on Danny Clark.
I'd rather be a minute early than an hour early, 'cause I like to procrastinate.
Doesn't he have a Block O tattoo on his arm? That would be sweet up at TTUN!
If I'm not mistaken there was an 11W article about him getting it removed or covered up.
Negativity is a choice.
Michigan State? This guy seems like Dantonio's kind of prospect.

Why not consider Purdue...

Meh. Maybe he's just a Justin Zwick and peaked in high school. If he can't cut it at Kentucky, where can he cut it?
"You're welcome for the house I built."
Could be a number of things besides not cutting it, maybe it wasn't the right fit, maybe he didn't vibe with the OC, maybe he didn't end up liking the program?
Wish him luck, starting over is never an easy pill to swallow.
Maybe his Daddy didn't like how they wanted Danny to earn a starting spot.
High and tight boo boo
peaked in high school
peaked in high school.
This is why I don’t feel so sorry for the kid. He got a full ride scholly for his skills. Most of the rest of us ‘peaked’ in high school and had to find other ways to make it. He’ll land on his feet and get a degree somewhere.
Carpe diem or some shit like that.
At least it won't end up being a Kentucky "degree"
I think people are a little hard on Justin Zwick tbh. He was definitely not great during his first season as the starter but he improved significantly his second year. Troy was just ultimately better than him and offered more play-making upside (which is no knock on Zwick considering how good Troy turned out to be, our QBs Coach at the time did an excellent job developing Troy). If you look back at that Texas game in 2005 think about how the outcome of that game might have changed had Ryan Hamby not dropped that easy TD from Zwick. That likely affects the QB situation going forward the rest of the season as well if we come out of there with a win.
Zwick was supposed to be the second coming. Everyone in the country wanted him and he ultimately lost his job to a 3 star ATH. The only reason JZ was even in that Texas game is because Troy took a hundred dollar handshake during the 2004 season. Fitting that the JZ was the QB the last time OSU lost to Northwestern in 2004.
He wasn't as good as you remember. 57% career completion on 276 attempts, 1700 yards, 7 TDs and 7 INTs total.
Early in 2004 Zwick was not good and downright careless with the ball. A lot of the bad portions of his career statistics you just showed came from early 2004 when he struggled significantly. In 2005 he improved significantly and at the very least became sort of similar to what Krenzel was in 2002 (not that that's the ceiling you want for a player as highly touted as he was). The team could've completely wilted and fallen apart under him during those games when Troy was suspended and they didn't. He at the very least was a very capable backup and I'm frankly surprised he didn't transfer prior to the 2006 season. He was a disappointment in terms of what was expected out of him at OSU (which was a lot, I personally thought he had the talent to be the next Joe Germaine at first) but he still would've started for a lot of other teams around the country had he transferred.
I guess this is a silly debate, but he only played in 7 games in 2005, 4 of those were garbage time after Troy already did damage.
He was only a true starter where he took all the snaps for 1 game that season. Split time games 2 and 3 and it was Troy's team again by game 4.
He only really had 1 good game as a starter against Marshall where Nuge had to bang out a 55 yard FG for the win.
In any event, a much more fruitful career than Danny Clark at this point in time.
Looking at Troy Smith as a 3* ATH is one view. Another is as a Heisman trophy winner, I guess.

Pain of Regret
Take Your Pick
Point being he wasn't much more than that when he beat out a 5 star all world pro style QB.

He's referring to who/what Troy was at the time of his recruitment, not how he finished his collegiate career.
Shandy is not beer
Troy Smith was a 3-star athlete coming in who despite his success needed a lot of development in his early years. Zwick was considered the safer and more polished option coming in which is why he was the more highly touted QB and why he initially won the job. Our QBs Coach at the time, Joe Daniels, did an excellent job developing Troy's passing ability from 2004-2006. Troy was always a dynamic runner but he was also extremely scattershot as a passer in his early years. By 2006 he was the complete package which speaks to how well he was coached up. It's a shame that Pryor wasn't coached up the same way considering he had a higher ceiling than Troy did.

Thank you QB Guru, Nick Siciliano.
Siciliano wasn't in a prominent role with the team at the time. As I stated above Joe Daniels was QBs Coach during Troy's run. Siciliano didn't take that job until 2009. I'd say he was definitely the biggest culprit for why Pryor never developed as a passer.
Blame the coaches, but Pryor “being Pryor” was his biggest problem...
In terms of his off-field decisions I 100% agree with that. Everyone I knew who went to college at OSU at the time that had met Pryor in person had the same thing to say about him. He was kind of a selfish prick.
why in the hell would you pull that bad karma out of the box?
We good. Haskins was 1 TD pass short last week of matching JZ's career TD total. Different dude back there and Lydell Ross isn't on the roster either.
I worked with a guy who's son played against Zwick every year in high school. He thought OSU was making a huge mistake giving Justin a scholarship. This kid was defensive back at Campbell and said Zwick telegraphed whether it was a pass or run, then mostly never took his eye off the receiver.
Hopefully Baldwin doesn't turn into anything remotely similar to Zwick when his time to take the reins comes. That comparison extends to John Brantley as well (who was equally as much of a disappointment at Florida, he just got more opportunities to start than Zwick did).
That tattoo is going to get real weird now
Well he’s still from Ohio so maybe he will always be a fan. I sat next to a guy at the Shoe this weekend, who went to WVU, but said “Ohio State’s always been #1, no matter where I went to school”.
He covered the Block O with a Wildcat though, maybe he'll transfer to Northwestern?
Gotcha, Wasn’t keeping up with him. I’m sure D2 has a few Wildcats as well.
NW has a 5 star transfer, Hunter Johnson, from Clemson waiting in the wings after sitting out this season.
On a side note, I wouldn't sleep on NW going forward.
Could be a spot. Rumor is Khall Tate is transferring
NW is only going to get better
There is a chance they are back in Indy representing the West again. Although their schedule is brutal. Nebraska and Wisky are on the road in back to back weeks. Sparty and Ohio State at home but they get us after a bye in what could be a night game. Never like the sound of that.
And oh, they open on the road against Stanford.
I feel like I heard about another QB transferring from a southern school to a norther school and about how he was supposed to resurrect that program. Anyone else remember that?
Maybe Jacob Eason? He was at Georgia and transfered to Washington.
He covered it with a lion.
Earle for MOD in 16', it'll be the last best thing to ever happen to him.
Is that really it? Wow...that looks terrible...like even for something that is covering something else up...that's bad.
You're too stupid to have a good time. -Dalton
No, that’s not it.
Definitely not the best cover up I've seen:
What in the fuckity fuck is that?
Quit lion'. There's no way that's really it.
Kids, this is why you should never get a tattoo! I shudder to think what I would have saddled myself with if they were a thing back in the day. Back then, only carnies, cons, and WWII-era sailors had them. I looked like crap in college, but nothing that a shave and a decent haircut couldn't fix. There are probably a few picture buried in a box somewhere, but thank god there was no social media back then.
My aim, then, is to whip the Weasels, to humble their pride, to follow them to their inmost recesses, and make them fear and dread us. Fear is the beginning of wisdom. - William Tecumseh Sherman (with apologies)
Is that a Bengal tiger that goes by the name Rick James?
I almost spit my water out when i saw this. LOL
I don't even care if it's not the real tattoo... thank you for the good laugh, sir.
That is a janked up lion...................
Hope that wasn’t expensive. WOW
Must be my long lost twin. I graduated from WVU (in state tuition was significantly cheaper), but Ohio State is #1 and quite frankly I don’t have a #2.
That's the trouble with prototypes. They don't always fit into the existing machinery.
Best of luck to Danny. Hope he finds the right spot for himself.
He's already had his redshirt year, so you assume he's going to want to go somewhere he can play in 2019. Youngstown State, maybe?
The most "loud mouth, disrespect" poster on 11W.
He's gonna have trouble morphing that tattoo into this:
I wouldn't expect to see him land at a Power-5 school. If he wants to play he'll need to lower his expectations it seems.
Fields of Dreams
Time to lose the whole prototype schtick. Eat your slice of humble pie and start from ground zero wherever you end up.
So weird he's kept that alive.
I know there's a game Saturday, and my ass will be there.
I Believe In Ohio State.
Danny is a good dude I am sure. Hate he didn't have enough to start at UK. wish him the best.
Maybe he should give up on being a QB
He will have enough interested suitors the only question will be if he chooses the right one for him. Good luck to the kid. Nothing wrong with going to a D2/FCS school.
Nope. He should go get the best free education he can.
PG <3 PG
Kid has had a bumpy ride so far; he's due for a break.
BTW, what is BBN?
I'd rather be an hour early than a minute late.
Big Blue Nation
As soon as I typed the question, Big Blue Nation came to mind. But then I thought anything to do with "Blue" must mean Michigan. Thanks!
Years ago when ttun fans saw my OSU gear and said Go Blue - I always responded with some sort of comment about UK. Like, do they really have a football team or Lexington is a nice town
Here's another good one: You see them wearing a blue hat w a gold M on it, just innocently tell them that you used to live down the street from Moeller and that Moeller has a fantastic football program.
Those hats are why I was glad my son chose not to go to Moeller. Though there have been some really good guys pass through Moeller to OSU.
I'd think he needs to drop down to FCS if he wants to play.
LSU will need a QB by the time he's eligible to play, doubt they would turn him down after seeing Burrow play
He can't play next fall? Didn't the rules change so kids don't have to sit out a season anymore? Or is that still Grad Transfers only?
Grad only or a reasonable reason like family issues and such
Or shenanigans from the previous coach, like in Shea Patterson's case
Correct, basically, one heck of a good reason
I don't believe you have to sit out a year if you play at a lower division.
I'd assume he ends up at a group of five, potentially a d2 school? I think he'd be more than good enough to compete at a MAC school?
Urban Meyer left an incredible legacy. 12/4/18 Ryan Day begins his.
Wisconsin sure could use his services at QB. I wish Danny the best and hope he finds his home! I will be rooting for him just like I do Joe Burrow. Until the Bucks play against him of course!
Wisconsin might be a pretty decent fit. Been a while so my memory is foggy but he's supposed to be somewhat like Russell Wilson, right? Pass-first but still pretty mobile and can break a tackle or two?
Wisconsin has a commit who is composite #99 overall and the 4th ranked Pro-Style passer in the 2019 in Graham Mertz.
Between goals and achievement is discipline and consistency. That fire you have inside to do whatever you love is placed there by God. Now go claim it. ~ Denzel Washington
You are correct! That would be a tough squeeze. If I were Danny I would take a look at West Virginia. Grier will be gone after this year and that conference plays 0 defense plus for an added bonus you aren't too far from home. He seems like a good kid and I know ill be rooting for him where ever he chooses to play
I think he'll end up at a MAC school. I have no clue what their situation is, but Miami OH isn't too far from Lexington so that might be a good spot for him. if not, you still have Ohio U, Akron and Kent that are all fairly close.
Poor kid is going to have to rework that giant tattoo again. Didn't he already plaster something over the Block O?
With all due respect to Danny I cant ever remember a kid that simply didn't progress after his Freshman year. Almost like he peaked athletically as a 15 year old and that was as good as it was going to get.
Best of luck to him
I see him ending up at a smaller school closer to home like Akron or Miami OH (I have no idea what their QB situations are). Best of luck, kid. You will find your place.

This magazine cover just became more valuable
Good grief... WTF is THAT?
This is what happens when a school gives a half-hearted graphic design effort.
There's always the Youngstown State University Penguins. Last I heard, Bo Pelini and Jim Tressel were still there.
I followed his career at Massillon and Hoban. You think our qb is not quick with his feet Danny Clark is a Kosar clone running the ball. The young man just never improved that much from year to year. I always thought this was a project of Tom Herman more than Urbans recruiting Danny Clark. If you remember some how his running mate was on board too for awhile and he was another that I didn't think was all that for OSU and he went to another school too.
Has Sibley done anything at Pitt? I honestly lost track of him.
Think about this...
It could have been Tristan Wallace, Danny Clark and Emory Jones but instead it ended up being Haskins, Martell and Baldwin.
I think we ended up with the best trio.......
Best of luck Danny.

I feel like Danny is dreaming here.
Maybe just go to a MAC school and try to get on the field? Seriously though. No ill will against the kid, but the NFL dream should come after actually becoming a starting D1 QB.
Dustin Fox was our leading tackler as a corner.... because his guy always caught the ball.

Could've been Clark/Sibley...
Instead we had to settle for Martell/Dobbins
Good luck, Clark. I hope this kid finds and earns some success.
