Not an elite interview, Coach Franklin.

I thought it was great, just not elite ^

But this IS an elite comment.

I'm actually going to take Franklin's side this time.

The original question was dumb. No coach is going to discuss their job status in a teleconference with some random person during the regular season. The questioner kept at it, which was even dumber.

What you said would've been a much better answer on Franklin's part. "I'm not going to discuss my job status today, I'm here to talk about football." He could've just straight said that. If the questioner persists after that, the follow-up answer is "Next question."

Thats not what it is. His name has been mentioned for the USC gig if Clay is gone.

HS
CowCat's picture

Did not hear that, but it makes some sense.

USC is in the south division of the PAC 12, and all of the other teams in that division are weak. UW, WSU and OR are all in the north division. It sure beats having to play OSU, UM and MSU every year.

Chris ash sounds like he feels pretty secure in his job. Obviously wish no ill on him but I would love to have him back at the helm of the defense

Urban Meyer left an incredible legacy. 12/4/18 Ryan Day begins his.

HS
LB U's picture

YIKES, I'd say Franklin probably could have handled those USC questions a little better... Honestly though, if USC comes knocking on his door, is he really going to turn that down for the 3rd best job in the division?

HS
Qb Spy's picture

I would say Penn State would be dumb to let Franklin go. However, USC would lure many coaches. Good comment.

Has anyone followed Xichigan this season (I have not) and know if their O-line has improved a lot?  Curious how well Warriner is doing up there.  Obviously they're 10-1, but I didn't know if anyone out there really followed close enough to notice their O-line.  That was one of their big weaknesses in previous years.

HS
GoBuckeyes1020's picture

Their oline play is much better under Warinner......or maybe it was the departure of Kyle Kalis........not sure

HS
blu.fan's picture

It's Warinner. Kalis has been gone a while. Bye, Felicia.

HS
GoBlue91's picture

Looks like Warinner played a big part. A bunch of players we were really concerned about have taken big steps forward, and he's done a great job adjusting to their strengths and limitations.

HS
GoBuckeyes1020's picture

Should have used the sarcasm font.......great oline coach with top recruits. They had been underachieving far too long. Couldn't resist a jab at ol' blood on the field Kalis

Not to mention, Ed's knowledge of Urban's coaching style on offense may really help them Saturday. It sure won't hurt TTUN's chances with Ed on their sidelines and coaching up a pretry physical OL. #50 Ownew is a monster...so is their center.

It is time!!!!!

HS
CowCat's picture

Not to mention, Ed's knowledge of Urban's coaching style on offense

Ed never worked with Ryan Day or Kevin Wilson, and he didn't coach Haskins. Our offense is different now.

But he is doing a good job with TTUN's OL.

One of the things that stands out most is how he can adjust to something that's happening on the field in real time

No questions for Dantoni. Long way from Howard Griffith and Gerry Dinardo predicting Sparty to win the Big Ten mainly because of the skill and leadership of Lewerke. He got yanked mid season. How'd that work out?

The speculation about Franklin is crazy.  He is a born and bred PA guy....in his dream job.   He ain't going anywhere.  Honestly, I wouldn't care if he did.  In the past 5 years, his teams have played us as tough or tougher than anyone else in the conference.

Chris Ash seems optimistic, but it's his 3rd season and Rutgers is still getting pummeled. There's not much reason to believe they're going to improve, especially when they are beaten by their division rivals in getting the top players from NJ/NY.

On Karan Higdon's confidence and his guarantee: "I didn't think much of the way the interviewer was interviewing him. What Karan was saying that he's confident, he believes in his team, and he believes in his teammates and his coaches. I thought the reporter was pretty silly."

Oh shit!  Harbaugh, you better hope the reporter interviewing him wasn't Brett McMurphy.  Insulting him by calling him silly will cause him to go after you and your program.
