Its a w.

Who'd a thought a 10-1 team would be so horrible.
The ugly truth is often downvoted
the "team" is not horrible... Only the defense is horrible, the offense is pretty good
Urban Meyer >Jim Harbaugh for ever and ever, Amen. 0
Damn straight tiger. 688 ain’t ugly or lucky.
We'll see if the offense is really good or not against Michigan. Their defense is better at every level than Maryland's. And Penn State's for that matter where we struggled, and the other teams where we couldn't run the ball or pick up short yardage.
Tiger I should have clarified. This defense sux so bad it brings the other units down.
I'm getting too old for this shit.
It’s college, and it’s damn entertaining
“Save yourself and relax during every game. I recommend a fine bourbon.”
Yeah, and I do prefer my football on Saturday opposed to Sunday.
I didn't expect Ohio State to blow Maryland's doors off today, but I didn't expect this close a game either.
I'll say it - Maryland deserved to win. They played their hearts out and left it all on the field.
That said, hats off to them.
And that also said, I'm very disappointed in Ohio State football. The execution, the effort isn't there...and I can't make any sense of it.
I think is finally clear to me, when you hire a defensive coordinator out of the PAC-12 expect to get a defense modeled out of the PAC-12. Giving up 50 points per game is the new norm I guess.
I'm looking at coaches and players both.
I am actually looking forward to the offseason.
Oh no Hove not u too.
You’re the voice of reason around here.
You’re like the message board dad.
Not giving up on the program, I've been through enough turmoil to cash out now.
I'm ready for change is what I'm saying.
Come on now Hove, its basketball season now ;-)
Schiano is out of the PAC-12?
You are entitled to you own opinion, not your own facts.
Know them by their fruits and they certainly arent proving you otherwise. When they hired him I wondered if he was a good fit for this program
Effort is there, execution is not (at least consistently). My two cents...
There is nothing entertaining about kicked in your old man low hanging balls.
Do you find yourself grabbing your chest, yelling "this is the big one, Elizabeth!" ? (I have been close to cardiac arrest a few times this season)
Varys: I've always hated the bells. They ring for horror, a dead king, a city under siege.
Tyrion: A wedding.
Both teams may have been looking ahead... Both not playing great to close out Nov. Indiana has attitude and gave UM fits in the first half but their game is about over too
"I don't apologize for anything. When I make a mistake, I take the blame and go on from there." - Woody Hayes
These are problems we've seen all year. The "looking ahead" narrative doesn't make sense, this game was not out of character for us.
It's TTUN week. 10-1 with a chance to go 11-1 and rip their hearts out in the process. Let's do it.
Revenge for Woody from back in ti.e when TTUN ruined it for OSU.
and the entire 90's
"The future is bright at Ohio State." - Urban Meyer 1/1/15
preach it, brother
Man, it bugs me that so many of the perplexing defensive outings we’ve ever had have been on Schiano’s watch.
Still, like TTH said it’s better than a loss.
We can be grateful that DH had a good day. The "D" was simply terrible and has shown little to no improvement all season long. I am sure we will enter next weeks game as the underdog and will most likely lose unless the "D" shows up which it has not seriously done so far this year.
the D has started slow all season and that has put the team on its back more than necessary, resulting in horrible optics and eventually, the loss at Purdue.
maybe a simple solution is to play containment defense in the first 3-4 series and let the team learn how the other side plays, as opposed to going all out and play hero ball defense every single play, even though the personnel (LBs and safeties) or the execution aren't quite there. At the very least, this may minimize the big plays that the team has given up.
just a thought.
They only won by five points two weeks ago against Nebraska, who is just 4-7 this season.
Nebraska has won 4 of 5, with that single loss being to the Scarlet and Gray. Their next loss is not next week. They will take over the west next season. Speaking of ugly, they found a way to win a field goal fest with Michigan State.
That was the best big 12 game I've seen all season.
Not sure why you got the DV but +1, that was funny
You could say Maryland found a way to lose , it's more accurate .
"If you take it to em and you keep takin it to em , hell there's no question whose gonna win" W.W.H
Not really, both teams had blown opportunities.
"Because I couldn't go for three"
The 2PC call is what i'm referring to, they should've run the ball it worked for them all day , and the WR was wide open . I am happy we won but feel very undeserving .
Underseving? OSU crawled back from a 14-point decicit twice.
That was Maryland , a 5 loss team who our defense couldn't stop all day, a frosh RB ran for 298 yards, scored 51 pts on our D , a walk on CB pick 6 , and we can't get 1 yard on 4th down and so many things . Beating them 45-3 was the normal score , not this.
They repeatedly stuck themselves in that 14 point due to ill-discipline, poor-tackling, blown coverage, fumbles, an interception and overall just pathetic play. At best we sucked, although that is probably to kind.
Was at the game and it was far worse than what I've seen on the highlights so far.
Sure would have loved to see Nick Bosa lacing it up for the Bucks next week.
If their Wow-ovich is out, & our Little Bear. It sure helps level the D's. At this point we need any +.
level the defenses? ttun fields actual linebackers while we are fielding a hobbled mlb and an undersized safety at will. We have some liabilities playing corner too in sheffield and arnette. luckily, ttun isnt exactly frightening when passing
Sweat...meant leveling the two star ballers, not the entire D. But it would be sweet if it had a positive trickle effect for this whatever D ?
Do you say anything positive ever?
1st take in this thread: "It's a w."
Why do you get so many DV'S in almost every thread ? Is this why:
Silver Sniper 11/14/18 4:23 AM
Nut, you say the same stupid stuff on here over and over again. Why don’t you ever produce an original opinion instead of always criticizing others? You come off whinier than anyone else on here. Remember, YOU are the bottom 15%.
Here's a positive just for you, a stat we had MORE than them:
Bucks: 3 turnovers.
Quote from fear_the_nut:
"...let that wash over you."
This season it seems some the dubbers on 11W have become a "mgoblow jr." Just puked a little in my mouth. (See 1944 take below here)
C'mon 70, 44 & TTH this is supposed to be Hammer #ichigan week. Not each other, and twenty year old kidz. (Now I gotta go practice this preach'n).
o.k. Barf & buckeyepastor need a combo gif/minister pearl of wisdom. Not.
Just beat skunk weasels.
To Hell with that fucking quitter.
sure would've been nice to have leadership that the rest of the team look up to....someone who has the credentials to say, follow me to war!
well....that guy quit.
As I said on a previous post, the team doesn't have credible leaders this season....someone who's a genuine superstar amongst all the 4-5 star recruits. Like a JT Barrett (who's been here, done it), and Nick Bosa (who's a genuine superstar). One graduated, and the other guy....
Hopefully, next year, the inexperience of this year will turn into a dominant force.
Haskins really impressed me today. Besides the couple turnovers, he laid it all on the line. That's all you can ask for from your QB/Leader. I'll be very happy if this version of Dwayne decides to come back next year.
Haskins is the most overrated quarterback in college football. He generally hit the easy passes, but even on these, he was often behind the receiver forcing them to shift back to catch the ball. He's no where near as accurate as claimed. Overall a good, but sure as Hell, not great QB.
He had his best running in a game ever, but even then made a couple awkward cuts that made no sense, and came close as Hell to a fumble near the endzone. However, when pressured, he makes poor decisions and gets in bad situations that usually end up in sacks.
Now to all the Haskins' sycophants - give me your best shot. Tell me all the great stats against 2nd rate teams, and other than Penn State that's all we've played.
This is just a really really bad take.
Second down vote ever, an avowed Burrows fan, yet your comments about our QB, when he played with the heart many of us have been hoping for, is simply a piece of shit move!
I would rather be on hand with 10 men then elsewhere with 10,000 - Timur Lenk
All time OSU single season yardage and touchdowns leader in his first season as a sophomore. What a rummy.
Sychophants? You mean fans? Bet your kids can never please you. Nice.
Barney Fife lives, and he lives amongst us.
I too was very impressed with Haskins’ gutsy running. It’s a big change from that slide against Nebraska which was loudly booed by the home crowd. Haskins running was pleasant surprise and a major positive in this game.
On the bright side, OSU can now run and throw. They still can't tackle and they seem to lack any semblance of instincts in the back seven. I'll say this for them: They keep Saturdays interesting, that's for sure.
I survived Cooper, and I hate Tai Streets.
Makes sense, they lost 6 players to early to the NFL from the back seven in the last 2 years. All 6 currently start & 2 appear to be consistent Pro Bowlers for years to come.
That is a load of crap. Alabama feeds the nfl , and then they develop the next group. Our guys get no development.
Infiana was by far a better D against ttun than the shit show our staff puts out there every week “after a great week of practice”.
Hear me - I am jealous of Indiana’s defense. That’s how far this team has slid. Sad for the players
Show me a single time Bama lost three 1st round players from a single secondary including a DROTY? Don’t worry I’ll wait. Then followed that with another Top 5 pick from the secondary. Keep in mind all of these players were FIRST year starters. OSU literally broke records with how many players they’ve sent to the draft early & at the same time they’ve also lost a position coach & coordinator at least once during Urban’s tenure. More importantly what Bama has done is UNPRECEDENTED, stop using them as an example.
Thank you. JCam this is quality content this site lacks. Everyone wants to compare us to Alabama and Alabama this. Well there is only 1 team that can say that. When you look Jerome Baker, Raekwon McMillan, G.Conley, M.Lattimore, Eli Apple, Von Bell, M.Hooker, D.Ward nobody has lost back 7 like that early nobody. The amount of talent we lost early the last few years early could make one of the best NFL teams.
RB. Eze Elliot
WR: Noah Brown, Curtis Samuel
DE: Nick Bosa, Joey Bosa, Sam Hubbard
LB: Raekwon McMillian, Jerome Baker, D.Lee
CB/S Vonn Bell, Eli Apple, M.Lattimore, G.Conley, D.Ward, M.Hooker
just look at that. That is just people who left early thats insane.
Where 10 and 1. I dont think we win it all this year. I don't think we could beat bama. Any other team though I think we could take or hang with. I think there is a few reason for this.
Lb play is been the worst I've ever scene. The amount of 4-5 stars back there tells me its coaching.
The secondary I think its best players our to the young guys and players like Arnette and Sheffield arn't who we hoped they be. I think if we didn't get hit so hard from people leaving early some of the young guys and developed behind some stars.
OL is one of the places we havn't been hit hard from people leaving early. I think some of the Oline guys we hit on where duds or not as good as we thought (Burrell, Knox etc.) also feel like we lack a true leader. No Eiflen, T.Decker, B.Price type leader on the unit. Cant have a player like I.Prince be your captain and have such a weak mentality.
You are proving my point. This staff took all that nfl talent and
2015. Didnt make the playoff because they didn’t run the starter for the Dallas cowboys
2016 made the playoff and was thoroughly embarrassed
2017 thoroughly embarrassed against Iowa so didnt make the playoffs
Tell me you don’t hold your breath each week expecting this team to be unprepared and out coached.
How about this , after purdue fakes s FG, would you EVER fall prey to s fake kick ? We did today -
Yea man, there are literally 100s of examples of teams that fall for a second fake FG/punt in a season. *gasp*
Don’t forget 2014 when the offense couldn’t figure out how to run a crossing route against VT.
It’s one thing to lose to a team that may have more talent than you. It’s another to lose (or be blown out) by a team with inferior talent and a superior game plan. The lattter seems to be happening more frequently.
I wonder if it even dawned on you that you had to go back to 2014 and a championship year to come up with another example. 80-9, let that wash over you.
You apparently missed the three examples above my post that I was responding to. 80-9 is great but I was taught to never be satisfied and always strive to be better at whatever you do. No matter how good a team is it’s frustrating to see an easy way to be better that is being ignored.
How the hell can Meyer and Grinch and Schiano watch game tape and keep starting the players that just suck.
Werner and Borland are the 2 worst LBs in 30 years. Sheffield cant cover anyone.
Cooper basically does nothing.
Yet after giving up 51 pts they will send out these same players that cant play.
Let’s just assume that they have their reasons given their reputation & the fact that they see these guys every day on level we will never.
The stat sheet from this game said Borland and Werner were our top two tacklers today.
That's some kind of sucking.
North until you smell it, west until you step in it
borland, werner and sheffield will be named champions by the staff this week... just watch. i have no idea wtf theyre watching but its not the game film. I honestly think that they must be watching practice film when grading
You assume the guys on the bench would do better. While that is possible there is no reason think think they would beyond wishful thinking.
Most fans have 2 go to cards-put in the back up and fire somebody. It never changes. Where it gets embarrassing is when your team is 10-1.
To think fans are are pissed that OSU is still 10-1 given the amount of talent it’s lost on both the roster & staff & losing its best player is hilarious.
The average player rating in the '13 recruiting class was 89.5. They won a Natty as sophs in '14.
The average player rating of the '17 class was 93.8. They should have lost to 5-5 Maryland today.
The only committee that would even consider sending this team, regardless of scUM or B1G champs game outcomes, would be one consisting of player's parents.
I am with you. Except for Bama fans, OSU fans are the most spoiled in CFB. I honestly wish those fans would just go root for Bama and get it over with.
Werner and Borland are liabilities. Need more rotation of Jones, Mitchell, pope and esp Browning if healthy.
His absence has been very noticeable, which is weird in a way.
Fortunate to get a win but we are 10-1 with all goals still in tact! Have to play a lot better but anything can happen in the Game. Thanks to Okie st our playoff chances look a little bit better if we win out!
UCF would get in before 12-1 OSU.
Offense has come around. Defense has not. Disappointing to hear defensive leaders sounding happy for the win. They should be ashamed of themselves. They should be mad as hell. Mindset of this team is what is keeping us from being champions.
That said, it’s ichigan week. Confident that we get after it and give them the fight of their lives.
"Woody would have wanted it that way"
EsicPN minutes ago already smoking the hype pipe:
"No. 4 Michigan tops Indiana 31-20, aims for No. 8 Ohio State"
I'm sure they are not happy with how they got run over, but these young men should be happy coming out with a win. They sure have a lot to shore up though.
You Got Barbecue Back There!?!?!?!
A pastor thinking young men playing their hearts out in a collegiate sports game should be ashamed. WOW!
Just as hard on your parishioners when they don't do well in their bowling league?
I live in Arizona and recently met a fellow Buckeye transplant. Both of us Buckeye fans. We didn’t discuss much about the team but spent quite a bit of time talking about how other fans behave. That’s what I’m ashamed of being a Buckeye fan is the other fans, not the team, coaches, or players.
Man this is so much my thing. The bottom 15% of this base is a complete embarrassment. Wish I could upvote this 1000x
How wonderful to be such an example for others. You should consider writing a manual for “true” Buckeye fans.
Exactly what is your definition of a “true” Buckeye fan?
Bucks trying to be new Browns
Kardiak Kidz version.
The Browns can only DREAM of winning 10 games.
Hopefully Brohm get hired by Louisville, and Purdue hires Schiano
Successful people do what they have to, whether they feel like it or not
Bet the Mountaineers wish they had squeaked one out against a 5-5 opponent. Alas, they failed. Gotta love 10-1 vs 8-2.
So much this...
We're not the Mountaineers.
We're not. But a 1 loss team ranked higher than us went into a road matchup vs a conference 5-5 team and came out with a loss. I'm happy we didn't do the same.
I am too, but higher expectations than that are not unreasonable, at all. The level of play of our defense, and of facets of our offense at times, isn't just below expectations it's unacceptable.
“Is (this team) where we need to be? It’s not,”
Well that’s about as honest as Urban’s been at his pressers in years.
Bull. You want another coach?
Choose Sunday as the day you stop sniffing glue.
I’ll take a W any way I can get it.
Round on the ends and "HI" in the middle. O-HI-O.
Why does it take till halftime to make adjustments?
I agree Beagle.
But this time the adjustments didn't hold.
Worst defense I have ever seen at Ohio State and I have been watching for 45 years. Inexcusable. What is worse, they commit the same mistakes over and over and over...and there is no sign of getting better after 11 games.
It might be time to accept the defensive talent just might not be that great. Just because players are highly rated in recruiting doesn’t mean it always translate. Ask Texas and USC the last few years.
Scheme, development, and gameplanning are on the coaches.
The talent is clearly there, though often outschemed or out of position.
If you think Werner and Borland have talent you are on drugs. Borland is slower than the OLineman and Werner weaker than the kicker.
The frustrating thing is it is relatively simple things that can be seen. MD was putting their WR in motion pulling the DB to the middle and then running where the DB left from and the OLB/DE continually got caught inside. If we mixed some zone with man on occasion and also stressed outside man HAS to keep outside contain that would have fixed most of our problems today. Outside of that we have our LB's play so close to the line that it makes it harder to read and react to plays developing. I would rather give up a 3 yard run then shoot for losses and end up leaving gaps.
Strange to say this but I think our defense will do pretty well against TTUN. They have a more basic offense and shouldn’t give us fits all game like Purdue, Indy, Maryland, etc. I just think we match up better with TTUN’s offense.
Fields of Dreams
If giving up 30-40 points is doing well then you are right. This defense cant play. Period.
Only a pathetic Sparty offense was worse than OSU putrid defense. Oh Sparty scored 6 against Nebraska today.
I wish I was that optimistic. But they can run, pass, and have a mobile QB that will pull it down and take off or run the read option which they have never done prior to this season. I think there is just as much to defend and with better talent.
Shoot. I hope you're right. I think they smell blood, and we can expect a real fight. Michigan has a middling chance to lose the playoff. I just hope there are no injuries.
320 yards given up in 5 big plays. Too much gambling going on with the defense, this isn't the Pac12/Big12. Play base, let the athleticism win the game - And somebody please spend a few minutes with Sheffield on locating the ball, just look up Kendall. Go Bucks, Beat Michigan..
"When you're part of a team, you stand up for your teammates. Your loyalty is to them. You protect them through good and bad, because they'd do the same for you." Yogi Berra
Gambling? It more like being slow as mud. The LBs and safeties have no pursuit speed at all.
Go back and watch the Linebackers, and the safeties, constantly out of position after the play has started. It is very bad coaching. The LB's line up directly behind the gaps in the 4 man DLine, and they almost without fail hit the hole whether someone is coming through or not. The safeties do the same thing when they are up there. Hey, I understand gap integrity, and I understand plugging the hole. It is not that, this is gambling someone is coming through that hole and multiple people in your back 7 can make a big stop. It is basically playing run blitz on every single play, without really doing it, a gamble. Watch the Linebackers, the safeties they never adjusted in the 1st half. This is very bad coaching, not slow linebackers or safeties. In the 3rd qtr, it appears they made the adjustments, but in the 4th, maryland started passing more, buckeyes didn't adjust to the pass, and same old story when they did run. I don't care if your back 7 are composed of Ussain Bolt and his track team, if they are out of position, they will look slow coming from behind. Check out Harrison at the top, and Brandon and Werner both hitting the same hole, leaving the edge open, and I have no idea what Arnette is doing, bad angle again. I hope you look at things differently now, especially with Schiano not making the necessary adjustments until the 2nd half, and then not making necessary adjustments to the pass in the 4th qtr. Schiano would be best served in the booth, and make adjustments as he sees them unfold, not just at halftime.
"Schiano would be best served in the booth,"
DOING COLOR COMMENTARY FOR RADIO.
otherwise a great comment.
Sheffield did knock the ball out on the TD, unfortunately, it tumbled back into the receiver's hands.
Linebackers need replaced except Harrison, and DB coaches need canned for teaching that horrific face guarding technique to the DB's.
In other words, we have no back seven and I suspect that is on the coaches.
Saban on a cart eating cold pizza
Quit being Nancy-boys! It's HATE week. If you aren't going to get behind this team, get off the damned bus! In case you didn't realize it, we won today...and it was fun! ( pay no attention to the heart palpitations...that's perfectly normal)
"If worms had machine guns, then birds wouldn't be afraid of them" good talk Jim
Good news.... None of this will matter in 7 days.
This game was insane, it had a little bit of everything-so entertaining but so frustrating. Glad to win but certainly doesn’t instill confidence going forward.
Beating scUM is all that matters now anything beyond is a bonus
How many times have we heard hiw well they practices this week? Something is very wrong if we are practicing well and not playing well in game day! Please someone tell me what is wrong if we have a great practice week? I personally thought teh distractions of the Smith issue did not help! That decision by Meyer to have him on his staff is li!e a raah that won't go away! What the hell is wrong!!!
Hector m Rivera
Schiano and the Defense dodged a bullet. Not offense.
Borland is decent between the tackles anything east or west you can forget.
Noon games suck
I am disappointed in the staff in the area of fixing the problems of our deffense. You would think after the Oregon State game that the staff would recognize the positioning and tweak the D to be more effective. Iam not a coach at Ohio State or one to think I should be. I can read what previous players are saying. I can read what the media is saying. I can see it with my own eyes as well. What I do not read or see is the solution to the problems. That is what concerns me and everybody else. It is the least effective scheme I have seen in a long time. Its not only the scheme but at times its the "want". I think its a combination of internal, scheme and the desire. You can rely on talent all you want but, this is what you get. On the bright side we have only lost one. The negative we are playing the team up north this week. The negative is even if we win out we are not one of the best 4 teams. We have the talent to be but, we are not.
I am very happy we won. Going into the week I thought we were going to have problems. I didnt think we fixed ourselves on defense, we just played a terrible offense. I was very impressed with Dwayne. I'm not sure if it was playing in front of his family, or being irritated that he was losing plays to Tate, but he actually showed some toughness on some of his runs.
The main concern (obviously) is the defense. And not so much the players, tho there were a lot of missed tackles and bad angles...still...in our 11th game...but the alignment of the defense every single time it seemed like. It looked like we were showing all out blitz every time. And whether or not they actually blitzed the linebackers, it didnt matter. They were out of position and the offense already had a play going right at where they should have been, because we run the same defense every time. I dont get it. It's not "disguising" if you do the same thing every time. You can line up with your linebackers at normal depth and still blitz them. Maybe then it wouldn't be just one bad tackle attempt and then 80 yards or one bad angle. Maybe we might have a linebacker who could have been there to try to help. Who knows if they actually would tho..but still. Shiano was great with Lattimore and Hooker and Ward in the back and then Bosa getting pressure. But those guys arent in the locker room anymore
I was wondering if anyone would get on White, because as was pointed out during the game, White and Arnette failed to stop the outside run!
Pete Werner was usually running into White anyways.
That I admit was really funny, though sad!
