No way! I didn't realize Brendon White was William White's son!!! They were talking about William White on the video board all day against Nebraska! His son did him proud!

Also, ALS is as bad as cancer and they can get killed!

ALS is worse than cancer, there is no cure, and it is always fatal. I would say ALS along with Alzheimer's are the two diseases that are worse than cancer, (depending on the cancer type and stage of course), but cancer can be beaten, ALS can not. It sucks. I hope Brendon uses this motivation to go out and play his heart out every game for his father.

so... kicking, screaming, avoiding, and denying - death comes to us all.

Can we escape?  Sherlock Holmes' famous deduction a 'clue'?  When we keep trying every other way of salvation and none work, the one that's left, no matter how much we don't like it, must be True.

I marvel at William White's efforts [and others] to face and understand this reality...compared to all the usual suspects.  What a person chooses to embrace on his 'mission impossible' ... can be a tremendous testimony to a certain, unearthly 'love', 'joy'...'peace'... not at all of our making.

Is it 'terminal' ... or the Way home?  It is written every person... has been given that choice... in every breath.  That's a lot of choices., the number of which do not matter at all.

Blessings, William White and family.

William White is as good of a person and parent as he was a football player-and that is saying something. His son's story is something to remember when people throw shade on offering in-state kids.

“If I knew I would have got this, I would have still played the game, because I loved it, and smacking people in the mouth was fun to me.

“I’m not allowed to say that now,” White said with a laugh, “but hey, that’s why God made sure I was born in ‘66 instead of ‘86.”

Godspeed, William. Buckeye for life!

Pick up your feet, turn your corners square! And DRIVE DRIVE DRIVE!!!

growing up my dream was to run out of that tunnel ….  just one time

in my early 20's sitting in the stands I often thought  … it'd be great to see my son run out of that tunnel one day

William has done both..  no doubt watching Brendon gives him more joy

Life long fan of... The!

I must have been cutting onions or something because I'm teary-eyed.

William's courage and calmness, along with the sincere compassion of those involved in the program reminds us of what it means to be a Buckeye for life.

Keep fighting, William. You know our love is with you.

Brendon, smack some people around for your Dad.

Great story. William White has raised a great young man. Praying for the Family.

Fortune favors the bold.

I know that Dwight Clark died from ALS, which is highly associated with head trauma.  Between ALS, dementia and CTE, that's a horrible decision to have to make if you have a child who's a great football player.

HIgh school football, some possibility

College football, higher possibility

NFL, probability

Always loved William White.  One of Earle Bruce's best.  Damn hard hitter.

Barney Fife lives, and he lives amongst us.

That was incredible. I can't tell you how motivating and inspiring William is to me right now. Just keeps it real and stays positive.  That is great.  I think we all became bigger Brendon White fans after seeing and reading this than even last weeks game could have made us. Go Bucks!!!!

Late this afternoon, I donated $50 to the fund.  Their goal is $50,000 and at the time of my donation, the goal was a little over 10% reached.

Please match or exceed my donation, 11 Warriors.  This is a very worthy cause.

My favorite team? Whoever is playing TTUN.

At a time when we Buckeye fans are spending so much time lamenting the performance of a linebacker or offensive lineman on the field and treating what is ultimately a game played for fun as though it's the most important thing in the world, this is the type of thing we all need to see to put things in perspective. Rooting hard for William, Brendon, and the rest of the White family, as well as anyone else afflicted with this absolutely horrendous illness. Fuck ALS.

I donate to the walk every year. After losing my best friend in our twenties to this, it rips your heart out hearing about anyone dealing with it. I'll never forget telling him he had to smart and beautiful kids, and he mustered up a smile and barely said, "I'm happy." RIP Maggzy. Now my eyes itch.

Worthwhile cause, whichever charity you decide to give to.

Ignorance isn't bliss for the rest of us.

One of Lima's finest, William White. Will never forget as a kid watching the Super Bowl in '98 and seeing him pick off John Elway. Brendon was a helluva HS player, and I'm pumped he's finally getting his shot. He had legit chances to also play LB here at OSU, and even WR! He's that talented. Part of the delay of getting him on the field is because the coaching staff have struggled to find which unit they wanted him on.

Thank you for publishing this, and getting the word out there about the organization and ways to help. Often times, even heroes need support.

Brendon White is an example of growing up immersed in the Scarlet and Grey and understanding what it means to the state and the people.  He came out and showed what it means to be a Ohio guy.

That disease got one of my brothers 6 years ago. It's an awful thing. He was only 54, it's just not right. Live your life WW
