Good. Let them come in on their arrogant high horse.
"I don't apologize for anything. When I make a mistake, I take the blame and go on from there." - Woody Hayes
PleAse let Winovich say something dumb and motivate our guys. I’d love to see Dtrain come out and chop their heads off with laser ginsu hattori hanzo passes all over the field.
Ohio, the greatest state in the Union!
I don't think motivation will be the issue. I wish somebody would say something to get them lined up right on defense.
"Luck is my middle name. Mind you, my first name is Bad."
Nothin is gonna change the cement in the shoes of the linebackers. Everyone else has shown the ability to excel.
Aside from the secondary, maybe?
We can't stop here; this is bat country...
I hope the Buckeyes use the fact that they are underdogs in their own house to get motivated and stick it to Missagain, but seeing as how they have played thus far this season Im not too surprised that they aren't the favoites
Gentlemen, you can't fight in here, its a war room
Maybe the Coaches will use it as motivation to call plays that have the team running and throwing downfield, instead of East & West. Hope like hell they're forced to do something different to win the game!
I don't especially if it has anything to do with the Linebacker play, cause if it involves the linebackers we are cooked.....
Urban Meyer in the underdog role. That can only mean good things for us...
-3.5 is the number in case anyone was wondering.
Will be around -6.5 or higher by game time IMO.
At this point I’d take Michigan and give the points. I’d probably even give 6.5. I don’t see anyway our D stops Michigan. I surely hope I am wrong.
Even if I believed it, I wouldn't put my money on it.
- OSU ISE -- Fight on, Calpoppy! -+- DJ won a bet -+- Premium Banter -- OH48 80k -
I think they will have one of the lesser O's our D will face this season. I think its better than MSU's but I think MSU and TTun have similar D's. I would take Nebraska, Purdue, PSU with healthy McSorley, and perhaps Wiscy's offense over TTun. I think they are marginally better on O than Ind, Maryland, Iowa, and Northwestern. It'd help if we can force them into poor field position in this one and I do think we have a special teams advantage at home.
If you're talking about 2017 Michigan, I agree. 2018 though...
I'd take them -3.5 all day long.
Unless OSU plays up to their potential and makes the changes necessary at LB. If they do that the line will eventually swing the other way. Honestly though, I like that Michigan is favored against an Urban OSU team. Extra motivation. Let's not forget that there were multiple games this year in which that Michigan offense looked like dog shit.
Urban Meyer 4 Jim Harbaugh 0
The Bucks have been in the same situation a few times like Michigan is now. They were sailing along and everybody was writing and saying that they are just soooooooo good and unbeatable. All their friends were probably just gushing about how great they were and can;t wait to see them get that shot at Alabama or whomever for the championship. Then the whole dream just got blown up. I give you Iowa, Purdue, and especially Michigan State at home in 2015. Keep praising them everybody and let's just watch them come back to reality in 2 weeks! GO BUCKS!
Even if we win no other game, it would make our season to crush theirs.
Agree Knar, just like the Cooper years flipped.
2006 BCS Championship game immediately came to mind. Beforehand, Ohio State looked like a machine. Florida dismantled said machine.
"I say let us give them all they want; not a word of argument, not a sign of let up, no cave in till we are whipped or they are."
-William Tecumseh Sherman
They'll come back to earth in the next few weeks. Crushing a demoralized PSU is what has got them all the love.
Only 3.5 points? I thought it would be higher but i am sure that point spread will change by game time.
I just hope we pull the rug out from under King Khaki and his wolverweenies and send em back to the land up north with a loss.
This is the game that matters the most. Not Bama, not the SEC, not the playoffs !
Just do it Buckeyes.
I'm not trying to win a popularity contest. I'm trying to win football games-- Woody Hayes
Truer words were seldom spoken. They all it took was 3/4 of a season for them to revert to their nromal selves. How many Games has Ohio State won the last two decades?
"The minute we stop expecting greatness, we become Wisconsin."
Only 3.5 points? I thought it would be higher but i am sure that point spread will change by game time.
Home-field is worth 3 points, so it's really closer to 6.5...
Shandy is not beer
Sounds about right, considering Michigan has looked much better and has more quality wins.
I'm glad they'll be favored in this game to be honest. Meyer's teams have always done better in the underdog role.
You bums need to focus on our lil brothers not UM the revenge tour will make its way to you.
Urban Lier LOL
U mispeled lyar lololil
Lifetime vs. UM: L 8-1, C 7-0, T 4-0
Lol urban has owned you scrubs and will continue to do so. Sure Harbaugh might win against him this year, but don’t expect this to be a regular thing. Enjoy your time in the spotlight now. We’ll be back again just as we have under Urban. The man knows how to win Championships. Harbaugh has as many conference/National titles as I do. And It took Harbaugh 4 years to finally win a big game at Michigan. Best case scenario for you guys is you make it to the playoffs and get slaughtered against Bama or Clemson. You don’t have the offense to score on them.
I heard when your team doesn't win shit nearly two decades into the current century and you troll Ohio State fan sites, it often leads to being bitterly disappointed. Plus, your .526 winning percentage in that time span against Michigan State suggests it's you who should focus on your "lil brothers".
Plus, your .526 winning percentage in that time span against Michigan State suggests it's you who should focus on your "lil brothers".
Blows my mind that any Michigan fan would still refer to MSU as "little brother" after the last decade. Dantonio has largely owned Michigan the last several years with largely inferior talent. What idiots.
This is why I don't like all the "Michigan is going to beat us this year" bullshit around here. Might they? Absolutely, just like any other year. And based on the information in this thread, as of this moment it's apparently probable. But, this is why the games are played on the field. And right on queue, here comes the Michigan fans getting all chippy and talking shit... again... As you can see, they will gloat despite achieving nothing. So, it would be cool if there was a little more pride around here and a little less sad panda.
Less than two months ago they wanted to fire their head coach and were angry for scheduling Notre Dame early in the year because it's not fair that they lose those games. Last year it was a B1G conspiracy against them... Now, here we go, a little bit of courage and they're back to strutting around again. Revenge tour my ass. 15-3 Ohio State since 2000. Does a hypothetical win this year constitute revenge for that? I guess whatever they gotta do to find some success to measure.
Do you really have nothing better to do than troll another teams site? I'm growing concerned that Michigan Alums (highly doubt you went there however, considering how you spelled "Lier") are getting laid off, and don't have much to do.
Because what you’ve got in you, we’re gonna find out, ok? I’m gonna find out. And if there’s a touch of greatness in there, how cool would that be? ~UFM
You guys are always dying to talk smack. You've done it for the past 15 years. Its a yearly right of passage.
Always better at talking than playing. Typical.
"I don't think you necessarily have to get a trophy to be a winner." - Nick Saban 1/2/15.
*ichigan still sucks.
Enjoying daily the 62-39 ttun beatdown.
3.5 seems like a hedge spread. They’re waiting to see if we fall flat on our faces again in East Lansing before they bump it up. I’d have Michigan favored by 8.5 right now and I’d even put money down on us face planting this weekend.
If guys need bulliten board material to get up and play then they ain’t competing. Once that whistle blows all that stuff flies out the window to some degree. If they play harder because someone says something then they shouldn’t being playing at all.
The material they need is game footage of lesser teams punching them in the mouth and not responding. Show the d line not getting off blocks. Show running backs trucking the line backers. Show the defense it’s one of the worst in the nation at stopping big plays and long drives. That should be what motivates you. Not some stupid quotes or ranking. Feel disrespected because of your play not a quote.
Yes Michigan deserves to be favored. They are playing better. Didn’t say they are better. OSU if they put it together is a better team. However 75% of the season is done. People waiting for the almighty pissed off angry focused team, that train has sailed.
I think we match up pretty well with Michigan. I would pump the brakes if I were a doomsday fan.
Not sure how we match up well. They run the ball,OSU can’t stop it. They throw to TE OSU don’t acknowledge them, they play pretty good pass defense, OSU is one dimensional. They have NFL recievers, OSU struggles to stop Mac level passing game. They have gotten better over season, OSU has not. They can be physical and pick up short yardage.OSU good luck.Linebackers are better. Coaching has been better. Their players want to win rivalries as well.If coaches do some things OSU can no doubt win the game. However OSU don’t match well with them.
Things we said going into Mich game in 2014, as well as against Wiscy?
Yeah, I don't think anyone was saying that we were going to struggle with UM before the game in 2014. Remember how that team went into East Lansing and played a STRONG ( won the Cotton Bowl that year) MSU team and ended up dominating. People were saying that we were going to struggle against a 5-6 Brady Hoke led UM team? I don't think so. Yes, of course there were questions about the Wisconsin game, with JTB breaking his leg, but then we perhaps played the most dominant game against a quality opponent in Ohio State history in that one!
We did look good against MSU, but kinda struggled in putting away Indiana. I think Coleman had two 80 yard+ TDs and we knew we had Melvin Gordon coming win or lose against TTuN. So there were some doubts for sure. And we knew 'Zeke was a beast, but no one had any idea of what would happen the next 3 games. I could easily see this team have a light bulb moment and beat Mich. I can easily see us losing too. Just like in '02 and '14 and the other seasons where we couldn't get the job done.
It will be more if we lose to Sparty and Maryland.
"Sherman ran an option play right through the south" - Woody trolling the SEC.
I look for a game pretty much like last year. If both teams are forced to pass it's a big advantage for OSU. Not that they can't but that we do it better.
I am pretty sure that the old Denny Green quote paraphrased works here- "we are how we think we are". After nine games, we are not suddenly going to get that much better in our deficiencies. ichigan will throw to the tight end and run play-action over and over. Now if we change personnel at safety and linebacker, I might feel differently. Of course, I still think I am getting a check from Publisher's Clearinghouse so I am not holding my breath.
Yeah, let the fighting Winovich's come in here smelling their own farts. That will make the W that much sweeter.
Urban Meyer left an incredible legacy. 12/4/18 Ryan Day begins his.
It’s the best thing possible for us mentally. If that doesn’t light a fire under these guys nothing will.
I am shocked that it is only 3.5. Thought it would be closer to 10.
You're out of your mind
Lock of the week: Trending in the wrong direction
Here comes Ol' Pollyanna again: Our back seven looked better during the second half last week, (except for Nebraska's last drive, half of which, I presume, was because of our being in a sort-of prevent mode) and MSU's offense is decidedly not as effective as Big Red's. Gap integrity will be of paramount importance on Saturday, because you know that D'Antonio will have gadget plays dotting the menu. Lastly, if we can avoid too many early second-and-longs, we should be able to move the ball effectively through the air...and why not try a couple of trick plays of our own(?), like bringing Martell into the game, and letting him fling one when the defense is looking for him to run.
It would be nice if blatant offensive pass interference was called.
I really am looking forward to the game this year. I honestly want to see what kind of team Michigan is. TOSU will punch the Wolverines in the mouth. How will Michigan respond? To some degree, I still feel like Michigan hasn't really been tested. Even though they beat Wisconsin, MSU, & PSU, I wasn't all that impressed by the opposition. It seems like a down year for the Big 10. For all of his problems, Meyer is a master motivator. Defending your home turf and keeping the streak alive will give TOSU all the motivation they need. And we know you have the raw talent in a boatload of 4 & 5 star kids.
I have one question, knowing that you are behind your team. How many of you are putting money on OSU this year? To win the game? To beat the spread? That really would reveal how you feel about your team and their chances this year.
good post. at this point in time, I would bet the house on TTUN at -3.5 ... but alas I can't put money on TTUN ever. I'd have to root for them then. Can't do it.
If we wax MSU and dominate UM, I will change my mind on The Game, but right now it does not look good for the home team.
How can you bet the house on one or the other? This game is pretty even at the moment. I give our offense the edge, and their D the edge. So that plays into their hands a bit. Cuz our D is soft. I think the game will be a dog fight. No clear cut favorite.
Because we are no better than PSU (we got totally outplayed and were fortunate to win the PSU game) and I just watched what TTUN did against PSU. Blew them off the field. We have to improve a ton over the next three weeks to be able to compete with TTUN. of course, anything can happen on any given day (see Purdue game), I don't like our chances after what I have seen out of both teams the last 4-5 games.
I don't bet, but I wouldn't touch this game either way. UM looks like a completely different team on the road vs. at home.
If Ohio State is ever an underdog at home, I'm putting money on them, and let the chips fall where they may. I'll be throwing a good bit (for me at least) on Ohio State +3.5 or whatever it may be in three weeks.
I haven't bet on Ohio State in years. For me, it takes the joy away from the game (any Buckeyes game) when I'm shiting tacks over whether or not they'll cover the spread. And I would never bet against them because it just creates a conflict of interest. (Has nothing to do with being a homer. I just don't like being torn over rooting for my team or my money)
With that said, in a hypothetical? Or a friendly bet? Yes, I'm going with Ohio State. I learned a lesson the hard way in Las Vegas years ago when I kept betting against a streak, thinking it had to eventually end, so I was guaranteed to win. I was right at some point (kind of) as I watched the game without any money left in my pocket.
Moral of the story is Ohio State is red hot against Michigan and just because Michigan is once again the October champion (look at my "shocked" face), doesn't change anything for me. Ohio State will eventually lose to Michigan again. It could be this year. Maybe not. But, I'm gonna let it ride on the Buckeyes.
What you said is perfect. I am not a betting man. The real reason is that it takes too much knowledge and work to bet successfully. I just want to enjoy the games. And betting against your own team would be agony for me.
Where I would bet would be friendly wagers with brother-in-laws and the like. Bets for a buck or two or a steak dinner. Things like them having to wear Michigan clothing to work in the Cleveland area, or vice-versa for me at my workplace. And for those bets, I'll gladly wager this year, if the bet would be taken.
You may be a Michigan fan, but I have enjoyed your reasonable takes on 11W. So how about a friendly wager? A six pack of your choice from THE Columbus Brewing Company if Michigan wins vs. a six pack of my choice from Bells if the Buckeyes win. What do you say?
"Outside of a dog, a book is a man's best friend. Inside of a dog it's too dark to read." - Groucho Marx
"The recipient of Oyster's ONLY down vote".
I'll gladly make that wager! Except, if Michigan wins, just donate about the cost of a six to a food pantry we just finished building.
(I'm trying to score a couple tix to the game, having never been to the horseshoe, but am doubtful I'll succeed. However, if I do, we can meet up in Columbus that day.)
You're on. Although there's the possibility that this will be the first time I've ever felt bad about contributing to a food pantry! Let me know if you make it to Columbus.
I know it's a late response (I make a lot of posts lately), but can I get in on that, too, Rev? I'll gladly make a donation to the food pantry. As for my beer that you'll surely owe me, we'll figure something out.
You usually seem like a reasonable guy that posts here responsibly. I don't hate people just for rooting for Michigan. It's close, but you make it difficult when you're rational. But, see, you might be an exception. I've had enough Canadian whiskey, eh grade, that I'm feeling generous, and I've lost track of what thread I'm on, but there's a Michigan jackass somewhere that got downvoted from hell for being a Michigan jackass. Don't get cable, don't be that Michigan jackass. P.S. Go Red Wings, P.S. Go Buckeyes
Also, if you do score those tickets, give me a shout, I forget where you're located or if I even saw it previously, but I'd be happy to show you around a bit if you need. If not, no worries. For all I know, you're quite familiar already.
OSU does not cover spreads in the year 2018. It's the sign of an average team. Nobody should be fooled by 8-1. And sadly for us Buckeye fans, what is an average team is headed in the wrong direction. That said, anything can happen in The Game. Anything.
The Browns are the worst franchise in all of professional sport.
If played last week, Michigan would cover by at least 14. Let’s see if Mr. November can pull out what amounts to a miracle the next three weekends.
I remember a day when the Buckeyes were 4 point underdogs in a conference championship game tough Wisconsin team that had a power running game and an effective/efficient passing game to go along with a tough as nails defense back in 2014. Does anyone else recall that game? No way in hell could the 3rd string QB show up and beat that Wisconsin team
I have 59 reasons why no one should ever count out the Buckeyes before the game is played on the field.
Have some faith...
No such thing as a bad win
Does anyone else recall that game?
IIRC, it ended up looking something like this:
Seriously, the hand-wringing is ridiculous. This team will beat Michigan, why do I think that? Urban Fucking Meyer.
Believe it or not, in our lifetimes Michigan will win again. If any of you remember the Ten Year War, the outcome of those evenly fought matches meant life and death. It was anticipation which you can't even imagine.
During the Cooper years, it change getting our asses beaten so bad. In the Tressel and Meyer years, Michigan was not that much of a threat.
That's changed. But, I will tell you younger fans this: if the series goes back to even competition, even though there are losses, the wins are so sweet you can't even imagine. But, think of a half a bottle of tequila, a big shot of demerol, feathers caressing your genitals, and laying on your back, floating in a hot tub with your favorite hot movie star. That's what it feels like when its really a WAR.
So, don't be crushed if the Bucks lose this year; it only adds to the anticipation and sweetness of next year's game.
"You're welcome for the house I built."
Sweet bastard, that was beautiful. +1
Chic - Beautifully stated, along those same lines is why I root for Michigan to be 11-0 every year heading into The Game. If you say beating Michigan when they are 3-8, is the same as beating them when they are 11-0, you are lying to yourself.
Go Bucks! *uck *ichigan
Truer words have never been spoken. However, I'm NOT EVER,EVER...EVER,EVER,EVER rooting for Hairball and MeatChicken. Not in this lifetime or the next or the one after that.....
You win with people.
X2- I can relate and agree to all of the above-
I have a bad feeling about this game.
You got the bourbon, right? Don't be having bad feelings. Just go to the light.
I would take Michigan and the points all day long. I honestly can't believe it's only 3.5. If Ohio State keeps this one close, I will be surprised.
"In America, anyone can become president. That's the problem." George Carlin
You'd take the favorite and the points? Maybe that's why I don't gamble well.
Yeah, I guess if I take the favorite and the points I can't lose! Thanks for the correction.
It's all good, buddy
I've lived in Georgia since '94 (grew up in Akron), and my 14 year-old son has lived here all his life. You'd never know that kid has never lived in Ohio .. HUGE Bucks fan (I guess I raised him right). Anyhow, for years, he's begged to see an OSU game live .. at the Shoe. His first Bucks game EVER will be Nov 24 .. THE GAME.
Although I'm jacked to see OSU finish strong this season, I'm most looking forward to watching my son experience a real rivalry game that always has national title implications and has literally been celebrated for decades. Not sure he'll ever be the same afterwards!
So go ahead Vegas .. chalk us up as underdogs .. in the best rivalry game of all sports .. at HOME. When we win, I'll get the chance to teach my son the meaning of Schadenfreude.
And if any of you are looking for any last-minute gift ideas for me, I have one. I'd like Chase Winovich, brought from his happy holiday slumber over there on Meat-Chicken Lane with all the other Harbaughnauts and I want him brought right here, with a big ribbon on his head, and I want to look him straight in the eye and I want to tell him what a cheap, lying, no-good, rotten, four-flushing, low-life, snake-licking, dirt-eating, inbred, overstuffed, ignorant, blood-sucking, dog-kissing, brainless, ****less, hopeless, heartless, fat-***, bug-eyed, stiff-legged, spotty-lipped, worm-headed sack of monkey **** he is.
Hallelujah. Holy S**t. Where's the Tylenol?
Let's start with Sparty tho.
GO BUCKS .. Beat Sparty!
"They couldn't beat me with two Michigan coaches. So they had to come down here and take a coach that I trained."
Seeing this made my day. Good for you and your son. I’ll never forgot my first Ohio State game, in 02!
Based on how they have played the last few weeks, both teams, I feel this is appropriate at the moment. If OSU takes care of MSU in a convincing way than the line will not change much.
I am really nervous about OSU's defense in this one. Michigan is going to want to run the ball all day and I am not sure this defense can stop that consistently. Between that and screens and such, it will be rough unless they play their tales off. It would also be a major test for the offense. As it seems like Haskins has not really done well with pressure through most of the year and still seems not to feel it at times. Michigan is too good for that on the defensive side.
Seems to me that OSU will be, or should be, hitting the screen game hard against an aggressive line and linebacker group to take advantage of their aggression and how athletic and powerful their RBs are.
Saying it since I'm shocked no one else has yet:
Pick up your feet, turn your corners square! And DRIVE DRIVE DRIVE!!!
Imag, you've got me fired up enough to get my old bones out there and kick some skunk weasel ass.
I look at it this way... if you look at Purdue and the talent gap vs us compared to their emotion and excitement - now take our team - make us underdogs at home and give Urban a week to motivate this team and we will come out like Purdue did against us and I like our chances - like really like our chances...
hope we get there with everything on the line... to me this is a replay of the ‘74 barn burner just waiting to happen
“And in the night of death, hope sees a star and listening love hears the rustle of a wing.”
This is what it is all about. How many times in the 90's did we compete against Scum as the #1 team in the nation and lose to a lesser team? Too many times. So this is gonna be a fun game and Michigan is licking their chops. Its been a struggle for our Buckeyes, but this game is setting up nicely for Urban to go 7-0 against Michigan and Mr Khaki pants to be 0-4 against THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY. All the pundits will predict Michigan to win after shellacking Indiana and Rutgers and rightfully so. But I suggest you Embrace the current Suck and be ready to enjoy an excellent Saturday in late November! It might be an edge of the seat, significant alcohol drinking, sailor cursing kind of game but given where we are at this season, I am really looking forward to and assuming a tight game where the BUCKEYES shatter the khakis at the end of The Game! How sweet is that gonna be?
"Tough times don't last, tough people do" - Gregory Peck
scUM's little "revenge tour" comes to a screeching halt. Harbaugh is their Cooper and deep down he feels he can't beat tOSU.
Even more absurd is that OSU is favored vs MSU this week (-3.5 last I saw.)
Thank you Urban Meyer and Gene Smith
I found this strange too. Maybe they are trying to get the people who actually haven't watched the Buckeyes in the last 4 weeks? Normally the home team gets 3 points with even teams...
