There's no points for second place, gentlemen.
I do think it was unrealistic to think we go undefeated.
At least the loss was outside the division even if to a completely average at best team.
We are not a 100% lock if we win out but its much larger than 0% chance. It does make watching the other games more interesting now.
That’s about the only positive thing I can see regarding this loss. It was to a B1G Ten Western Division team so we own all the tiebreakers in the Eastern Division if we win out. However, that’s obviously a very B1G “IF”.
Im really not that upset with a loss here. So long as it changes the focus of this team. My real issue is the manner of losing. Why does urban have to get completely blown out of the water embarrassed every time he loses? Saban almost never gets blown out. He lost to auburn by 12 and Oklahoma by 14 four years ago. Those are his only double digit point losses since i believe 2010. Urbz now has losses of 31, 16, 31, and 29 in the last 23 games.
I think we can get it pulled together in time for the fighting haurbaghs.
Ttun is improving, while Osu regresses in areas. Regrouping before the last game is worth losing that #2 ranking.
I have to return some videotapes
Agreed. I said the same thing after the TD to make it 42-20. Playoffs, Rose Bowl, and even Big Ten Championship be damned. This time, we get to play spoiler to UMich and that game will truly make or break this season.
I actually said that around halftime myself. I said either this half will be fun and we comeback or we really need this loss because my eyes are seeing a team with talent that isn't improving like it should.
It will be interesting to see if the team looks any different for Nebraska in 2 weeks. If there are no personnel or scheme changes then it’ll be that whole definition of insanity thing...
Fields of Dreams
Only 1 of two ways to go from here. Fold the tents or regroup and play angry.
I'm looking forward to watching the same handful of players commit the same penalties and blowing their assignments for the 5th game in a row.
Unfortunately now we would probably match up with Bama first again if we made the playoff.
Beat Nebraska. That’s what the goal should be now.
Nebraska next. Now with a sense of urgency. Hope they respond “loud”
Just hope they can find leadership.
If the leadership hasn't shown up yet I'm not sure it's there. It's part of peoples DNA, it's there or it isn't.
What we can't do in the air we'll do on the ground.
They pay 7 million dollars years for that. Let’s see him take some accountiabilty
Yup. Good thing we have a bye week. Neb looks like they're starting to believe in Frost and his system. Their QB will be a problem for years to come.
More yards in penalties than rushing. What me worry?
Now that is alarming...

I honestly think it will get worse. Theres not a lot to feel good about right now.
We can't stop here; this is bat country...
But you’re always so optimistic!
At least the high expectations go away for a bit. Outside looking in, might light a fire under their ass. Who knows. They shouldn’t worry about playoffs or Heisman for a while. I’ll be tuned in for their next game.
High expectations??? You mean of taking care of business in the B1G? Not sure of the height of those expectations, we should never lose to a 3-3 purdue.
At #2, the focus was playoff matchups and Haskins winning a Heisman. Wherever they drop to in the polls, they won’t worry about either for a bit. They should always expect to win the B1G
True that. At least Purdue isn't God awful. Their 3 losses have come by a combined 8 points, a few plays here and there Purdue would likely be a top 5 team in next weeks poll ha.
Didn’t they lose to eastern Michigan. And they are 3-3 and they are Purdue
Alabama's season has been terrifically boring, but I think I'd prefer that.
The most "loud mouth, disrespect" poster on 11W.
Unfortunately all their best players (on O at least) are freshmen or sophs. Tua may make a run at Archie if he does indeed win the Heisman this year.
Haskins is the best QB tOSU has ever had and maybe for a long time... but I think we'll be better next year and more balanced with Martell and his skill set (plus a bad schedule and 2 bye weeks will help).
I've thought this since b4 the season. As good as Haskins is, he has areas that need real improvement. A good arm only takes you so far. I am still very impressed with him, but can totally see Martell being more effective for us as far as red zone and leadership. Will the team rally around him more? That being said, I want Dwayne to come back and work his game for another season or I fear he will not have as long and successful career as his talent deserves or he would like.
Haskins is the only positive thing right now. Mack looks like he is done.
Stay golden, Ponyboy.
And KJ. Other than that... lots of young and first year starters though. Hopefully they'll be much improved next year.
Him being in there basically takes away our run game, so you'll have to live with that. Results like tonight happen if we can't run the ball.
There’s this position called the runningback, and surprisingly that position is typically expected to run the ball - with the help of a competent offensive line. We lost to Iowa with JT just as badly, this issue is bigger than a quarterback.
I really think they need to look at moving Jordan back to G.
MUST INSERT NEW BLOOD on the Offensive Line!
The attitude, the complacency... It’s not even necessarily their fault, but there’s just no juice! Put 1 youngster in at Gaurd (I don’t care who). Just 1 fresh body who is fired up as hell to be on the field! Don’t worry if he’s not the most technically sound, or “game ready” or whatever BS vernacular Urban’s likes to say to keep his totem poles orderly.
Place 1 new guy up front, tell him his job is to DESTROY the man line up across from him so we can steamroll a run game behind him. See if this triggers a new exuberance in our line.
i truly believe a shakeup on the OL could change the whole mindset & trajectory of the group/team.
People glossed over the Mack is done comment above. If he has a concussion he may seriously be done. That is like his 4th concussion since he has been at OSU.
I thought Mack had his cleat off and was favoring an ankle or foot. Didn't think there was any concussion talk.
Nah, that can't be it. Don't you know! You have to have a running QB in order to have a running game. There has never been a team that has had a running game without a running QB. /s
Bs, B Hoying slings it, and Eddie runs it, thats how you get a great offense...with people upfront mauling the defense. No excuse for not being a balanced offense.
Just. Beat. Michigan.
If getting worse each game is exciting to you, have at it. I'd prefer to see progress, like somewhere.
It’ll be ok. Go Bucks
Now we can play not to lose. Like to see Tate get some read option looks. D needs help. Lots of help.
Tate won’t play another snap this season unless Haskins gets banged up.
Or we get back to blowing out the teams we should, which should be everyone left on the schedule minus UM...
The season isn’t over. The players, however, will have to scrape back into it. That’s about all the incentive they’ll need to play motivated. Exciting stuff. That’s how I choose to look at it
dude i get this but urban dropped the ball again . shouldve taken the 15 point loss instead he was playing to win when it was clear we werent. now we have a 29 point loss. it might just keep us out.
Nebraska just got their first win, and Scott Frost knows he can salvage his season with a road win over the buckeyes. Hopefully this team gets some fire in them and some coaching, before the huskers come to town. No more mulligans, time to get mean and nasty.
We just got our asses beaten... badly and there is no upside here.
"Wait until next year"...

I've said this a few times this evening. But I always thought this year was going to be more of a rebuilding year. New QB, New coaches, almost an entirely new Defense. I mean seriously I never thought they would run the table this year. And I certainly never believed they would win the NC. But Haskins and the passing offense have far exceeded my expectations and I think perhaps gave far too many people a false hope that this was the year. But for anyone that has been watching ANY of the games this year it was clear the defense is a major rebuilding project.
All the mad buckeye fans really had out sized expectations this year.
Obvious issues. Urban’s run scheme only works with the threat of a running QB. Defensive changes need to be made as far as coaching goes. Urban held onto Zach out of loyalty even though he underperformed. He’s doing the same with Schiano and Davis. There’s no reason why a defense full of 4 and 5 stars should be getting toasted by 2 and 3 Stars other than poor coaching.
Don't listen to Freddy P. Soft
Lol. This year ain't it, friend.
We just lost to Purdue by 29 points. We aren’t making the playoffs. Our loss is ugly AF compared to any other team’s loss.
Agreed about the playoffs. I’m just hoping they’ll loosen up and have “fun.” They play stiff with so much on the line.
We may not win again this season. Not exciting.
And oh yeah, think about this. If were out of the playoff discussion with 1 more loss do all our draft-eligible players quit the team like Bosa did? Haskins, Dremont and Fuller leave we wont win again this season. Period.

We’ll probably win out and it won’t matter. An ass whopping by a mediocre Purdue team disqualified us from the playoffs. Besides, Alabama would absolutely embarrass us if we were to play us. This season is a wash. It’s time to start considering Day a the future of OSU.
