Was only there a few years. I got a good laugh out of people who had Alabama as their favorite team and Auburn as the second favorite team.
yup.....ive seen it. I have a friend who is a big time Gators fan that has a UGA tatt on his ankle. Born and raised in Georgia.
Moved to Charleston, SC from Savannah, Ga about three years ago. I know your pain oh too well.
Charleston in nice. My daughter lives there. Was just there 2 weeks ago.
I lives there from 2011 - 2013 for grad school. I could never figure out who was more annoying, Clemson fans or USC fans. The teams were a little more even then, but I’m sure Clemson fans are more obnoxious now with their recent success.

I’m in Chucktown as well. It’s actually a terrific college football town because there’s no local team (outside of The Citadel, Bama’s Chickenshit Saturday “rival”) and many of us are transplants from somewhere else. I work with a ton of Clemson and Carolina fans, and let them know their rivalry is *cute* compared to The Greatest Rivalry. Clemson fans are pretty full of themselves right now, but they’re also grateful for the current performance, knowing that it has been, and could bee, fleeting. Carolina fans are tight lipped because it hasn’t been pretty for the last five years.
We have a bunch of Bama bandwagoners, a bunch of Virginia Tech fans, plenty of Buckeyes and Penn Staters, more TTUN fans than I’d expect. In short, there are a lot of Navy and Air Force vets who finished their stints here and settled in. It’s a great town, there’s plenty of banter and ball busting, and everyone has one eye on the Buckeyes.
As a Citadel grad and Charleston citizen I can confidently say I have fun rubbing it in Carolina fans faces that the Citadel owns them. And for that my friends that are Clemsom fans give me a free pass as a Buckeye fan. In all actuality the ACC fans team up with us in rooting against the SEC.
Fighting the good fight in SEC country. "Our honor defend"
At least you have Husk.
Nothing cleanses the soul like a no call pass interference.
Raleigh, NC. Neighbor across the street is a graduate, a political door knocker came to my door from Lima last week, multiple salespeople I speak with regularly are grads or buckeye fans. Buckeyes are everywhere. GO BUCKS
I'm in Cary. Weird thing about the triangle is the general lack of interest in local CFB. NC State has a following, but it's mostly a tailgating crowd. UNC (where my daughter goes) and Duke couldn't care less until the ball gets round. Best fans were at ECU, but that program went down the toilet the last few years.
**This space to be filled with an inspirational quote from a famous Buckeye**
I moved to Cary then the Brier Creek area. Tons of OSU fans. Locals generally think we are on the annoying side simply because there are so many of us and we always have OSU gear on. Local Buckeye bar is packed right by NC State. Cracks me up.
Was Raleigh for about twelve years. Spent many a Saturday at the Alumni bars, first the Hilton, then the one near NCState. The folks that run that group do an incredible job!!!
But I liked the Hilton better, closer to our home, and like the layout better. But both are great fun!
Also loved the fund raiser raffles and auctions! Got two Archie signed footballs that way. And most of our OSU gear came from those events.
Miss the fun, but being back home in Ohio is great.
Beat everyone, in every sport, all the time!!!
Lived in Charlotte for nearly 20 years and there is no strong local allegiance there, Split among UNC, NCSt, S Car and Clemson fairly evenly.
Buck fans were quite plentiful there though, had a neighbor who was an alum for my last couple years there.
That said I was happy to leave in 2013 for the Philippines for 3 year then did a year in Monterey, CA before returning to Columbus area about 2 + years ago, glad to be home!!!
yes they are....

Hilliard (Amlin), but know the area very well. Just a little ball bustin!
Belated welcome, B75...thank you for your service.
I'm not around that much, running exhausted and lost...
Thank you and no problem.
Augusta is where I live, but I travel around the SE for work, so I’ve heard it all. The Georgia fans are probably the most fair weather fans I’ve ever been around.
Feed the trolls
I'm right across the river from Augusta these days in SC.
Apex, North Carolina, just outside of Raleigh. On my little cul-de-sac there are 4 Buckeye families, 2 Va Tech, 1 UNC, 1 NC State, 1 Michigan St, 1 Tennessee. I lived in Myrtle Beach for 5 years and learned very well how to hate Clemson and South Carolina.
Depends... Do you consider Virginia in the south?

Definitely, if all the history classes I took in college don't fail me I believe Richmond was the "capital" of the Confederate States of America until good ol' General Sherman had his way with them.
I'm not a civil war expert, so I'll defer to those who are, but it was Grant who took Richmond. Sherman had finished his march to the sea and was punishing SC and NC (apparently to a lesser extent) on his way north.
I live in NW MS and work in Memphis. Bama fans everywhere but there are a fair amount of Buckeye fans here as well. I grew up in SE Ohio but I’ve lived in the south for 28 years.
B75 - seems like SW Georgia just got smacked around my Michael. Hope you pulled thru the storm OK. I live in Fla and in our neighborhood on Saturdays there are 4 Buckeye flags, 1 Alabama flag and 1 Cincy Bearcats flag. I'm feeling pretty comfortable here. BTW, thanks for your service.
I'd rather be an hour early than a minute late.
it did pretty bad......still folks without power. Mexico Beach, Fla which i like to go fish out of is gone.
I'm 20 minutes from Clemson. The heart of ACC/SEC country! But I constantly run into fellow Buckeyes.
You poor bastard.
I'm swamped by Clemson fans. I understand why Woody wanted to punch these people...
I am near Tryon on the southside of the NC/SC border. Used to live about 7 miles from Clemson. My experience is that the followers of Dabo are knowledgeable about football and have treated my OSU fandom as something to be pitied as exemplified by the phrase "bless your heart".
Too much time spent at the North Heidelberg rather than the classroom. SSD 68-72
Yes....live in Newnan, Ga, about an hour south of Atlanta...Uga, Bama, Auburn fans abound. Wear my Ohio State gear loud and proud. Have actually ran into Ohio State fans that live here in Georgia as well.....you ARE NOT ALONE!!!lol
Franklin (just south of Nashville) Tennessee here. Pretty good melting pot of folks who’ve relocated here from different fan bases. However, because Vandy and Tennessee have been irrelevant for so long, riding the coat tails of other SEC teams’ success is so widespread it’s like the state’s unofficial past time.
"Always bear in mind that your own resolution to succeed, is more important than any other one thing." - Abraham Lincoln
Moved from Columbus in grade school to NC. Currently live near Greensboro NC. Lots of Buckeyes in my area. Neighbor when I lived with my parents played for the Bucks (Jerry Vanscoy). Carolina-Duke is overrated (mid 80's it was UNC-NC State). ESPN started that whole thing.
I've mapped 'southerness' so if y'all are not in the red zone, y'all are not really southern... :)

Chickens - interesting.
Broiler belt! KFC!
Huge buckeye fan here in Kitty Hawk NC! (Outer banks).. Suprisingly surrounded by penn state and Virginia tech fans! ( half a$$ nc state/unc football fans also) ! But I go to a beach bar every game day with at least 20 buckeye fans every Saturday ! We are everywhere! First ever comment by the way!
Welcome to the board OBXnc-Buckeye. Regardless as to where the road takes a Buckeye, we do have the best damn fans in the land! Go Bucks!
Welcome aboard, OBX - have some family down your way (Nags Head, Wilmington).
Spent some time in Roanoke, in Maryland now...ACC fans can be tiresome.
Hovenut , I went to school at uncw and live a few miles from nags head! Heaven on earth !! Hard to be a big ten fan down here!! "Love to be hated " !!
Thanks for the wind!
I'm an OSU alum in Houston and the locals are into Texas A&M and UH. Everyone here is pretty good natured, they're more into pro sports, it seems.
Southern Missouri here. Got a mix of Mizzo fans and Razorback fans all around. Since both teams suck I don't hear crap from any of them when I go to the store with my Buckeye gear on.
Let Meatchicken Beat Meatchicken!!!!
Since both teams suck I don't hear crap from any of them when I go to the store with my Buckeye gear on.
I can relate.
Its really nice to of found this site. Im sick of living in the south and not being able to talk to fellow Bucks.
I feel exactly the same. Facetime with my cousins, games with my brother, and 11w is what I get by with.
Dude, you went to OSU for 11 years & got 4 degrees? What do you do for a living?
Lol... These days I teach 5th grade. I had a boatload of aspirations, decided to give back first, joined Teach for America to teach at an underprivileged school for 2 years, fell in love with the opportunity to teach the future generations, won state teacher of the year after my first year, and never looked back. They say I'm overqualified and keep trying to get me out of the classroom to do something else. But it is all I want to do for now. It's a fantastic way to be both a professional and poor.
I'd say a 'Thank you for your service' is in order.
Thank you, Wargor!
New Orleans here.
Lived in NEast Georgia for 3 years awhile back. Felt a lot of venom toward OSU, and didn't understand since at that time we were 0-whatever in bowl games vs the SEC. My only conclusion is that they all knew where Grant and Sherman hailed from.
AKA the Horseshoe, the Shoe, and the House That Harley Built
Buckeye fan in Atlanta GA. I went undergrad down here and man I feel your pain. I am friends with fans of various southern teams(UGA, Auburn, Alabama, Florida, LSU, Miami, FSU, Oklahoma, Texas) but man those SEC fans are special. They root for the conference heavily and don't understand my disdain for the Buckeye's conference rivals. One particular UGA fan can't stand the Buckeyes and every time I remind him of UGA's lack of success he never responds. One thing I can say though, I have been to UGA campus countless times to hang with my frat brothers and it has always been a great time. (Sidenote: my best friend down here is a Detroit native and a Michigan fan. His optimism every year is hilarious.)
My son is a freshman at UGA. I've had a great time every time I've been there.
One thing the SEC for sure has us beat at is tailgating and general campus set up for game day. Man, I wish we had a grassy area on campus where people could go.
Proud Graduate of The Ohio State University-2014
Nope. Even worse. Stuck in Iowa.
I'm in Cumming GA and I run into Ohio State Fans every day. There is even an Ohio State Sports Bar across the street from where I work.
Yep.. The bammers are easy to handle.. Just say 42-35. The dawgs are also easy.. Just say “aw 1980 is a long time.. bless your heart.. “. Living in Lexington I even get crap from BBN, that is until I ask them if they’ve ever watched a bowl on New Year’s Day.. Clemson on the other hand.. Can’t help ya there until the Buckeyes beat them..
Pigskins & Porkrinds
Albany GA? I did a project a few years back at LOGCOm. Had to double check each flight as my travel agent would often book me to Albany, NY.
Lived in south for quite some time. Have found if a fan actually went to the school they tend to be decent, it's mostly the others that tend to be idiots.
There are worse paces to be stationed. One guy I served with chose to go to Auburn on his Navy scholarship because of all his choices AU had the prettiest women.
Strive at all times to bend, fold, spindle and mutilate.
Yes, I work there as well.
SWFL for last 20 years. Large Buckeye Alumni Base down here. Own land in northern FL dead center between Tallahassee and Gainesville. Oddly enough there are just about as many bama fans there as gator or seminole fans. My undefeated out of conference sticker has gotten me in a few precarious situations...
I'm a Buckeye, in Orlando... been here 12 years. Central Ohio born and raised (Westerville). Went to Ohio State for a short time (not as long as I should have)... ok, I've said too much. I hope UCF plays and beats Alabama in the playoff and then runs into Ohio State for the national championship this year, where the Buckeyes will put them in their place.
Truth in advertising.
Not sure why you would get a DV there...
All their love for SEC could be some form of insecurity. I feel your pain. They don't like OSU.
I'm a Buckeye in metro Atlanta. I recently gave a presentation at a corporate meeting and my final slide was requesting a moment of silence for the Auburn football season. The reactions were mixed to say the least but these fans down here cheer for their conference as much as they're own team. I feel everyone's pain and truly hope I live to see a year in the football playoffs with no SEC team. This part of the country would implode on itself.
I would upvote my own comment if allowed
My wife and I grew up in central OH and move around a bit after college. We landed in Atlanta 20 years ago. Lots of B1G fans here in the northern suburbs where all the other transplants ended up.
Too many bandwagon AL fans here, and the UGA fans have been pretty rabid the last couple years. At least hey know when to sit down and be quiet (like this week).
I wear my gear before and after every game, even the disappointing ones. Get lots of O-H's.
Had a Florida fan ask me when we were going to play someone tough and I had to apologize that we couldn't squeeze Kentucky in our schedule this year. :)
Moved to Atlanta about 5 years ago from Columbus. It's such a different thing here being in the heart of SEC country. We see a lot of Buckeye fans, actually, but when living in Columbus, 95% of the college swag you see is Buckeye gear. Here, it's like 30% UGA, 25% Bama, 20% Auburn, and then quite a bit of Florida, FSU, Ga Tech, Tennessee, etc.
My coworkers and friends don't talk much trash. The Bama guys are the most vocal, of course, but all I can say to them is "Yeah, you guys are the shit. DId I ever tell you about the time I went to the Sugar Bowl when OSU played Bama? That was fun."
The worst thing is just the TEAM SEC bullshit. The funny thing is, it's fans like Tennessee who do the Team SEC stuff the most. "We've won X championships in the past 12 years, blah blah blah". No, squirt, Tennessee hasn't won a damn thing this century.
I grew up in Columbus and moved to the Atlanta area, for the last 23 years I've had to listen to how great the SEC is/was. Georgia always winning the September National Championship along with Florida & Alabama. Just moved away recently and can't say that I miss any of it!
I can’t stomach them still calling us Yankees. I have yet to hear a person in the north, refer to them as Rebels. It is extremely childish.
How about 'Treasonous scum' ? George Washington and crew were rebels.
I'm down in Gwinnett County in Lawrenceville. I've lived here for all 24 years of my life. It's torture. I also lived in Statesboro and went to Georgia Southern
"We talkin' about practice?!" -Allen Iverson 2002
In college, I lived in a house with 3 friends. They were Alabama, Georgia, and Clemson fans.
kick ass profile pic, im going to steal that and get it on a tshirt
Lawrenceville .. I live in Dacula. We're practically neighbors!
"They couldn't beat me with two Michigan coaches. So they had to come down here and take a coach that I trained."
I'm in ACC/SEC hell as well. West Palm Beach, FL. Miami and FL fans can't stand us and I love it! I have found that Buckeye fans are everywhere!
I moved south from Columbus 25 yrs ago to Spring Hill Tn. The GM/Saturn plant brought a lot of Big Ten fans down here. So not only do Buck fans have to deal with all the overbearing sec fans who will swear up and down that they invented football, we also get to deal with blue fans as well. I have lived in Memphis and Northeast Al. as well. Over the years I have found that the sec fans with a brain (very few) can hold intelligent conversations about football. The rabid dog bandwagon people however are the norm. Another year of domination in the bowl games would go along way to making life easier for us down here, talking to you Meatchicken!
I grew up in Niceville, Florida, a small town in the Panhandle that would probably have always been a tiny swamp village had it not been for proximity to Eglin Air Force Base.
I'll never forget the 2006 National Championship because my dad made the mistake of inviting all the neighbors (Florida fans) into our house to watch the game. By halftime he'd locked himself in his office to keep from fighting someone.
"porque las estirpes condenadas a cien años de soledad no tenían una segunda oportunidad sobre la tierra."
I used to pass through Niceville all the time on my way to Destin.
Been there a couple times. Sister lives there.
Jacksonville, Fl here.. FSU, Miami, and Florida fans are most prominent but their are a lot of Georgia and Bama fans also..
GO BUCKS. BEAT MISSAGAIN
I am on record as living in Mandeville, north Of New Orleans. Probably have spent more time here now than in OH.
Left Ohio in the mid 80's and never made it back. Did have a chance in the late 80's early 90's but glad I did not as the job did not pan out and was short lived.
I have also done time in Atlanta, Birmingham (twice), most of FLA and San Antonio TX. My LA deer hunting crew love them so Joe B.
I have worked with a lot of engineers from Auburn, Georgia Tech and Texas A&M. Most were pretty good guys.
Could never get over the all the Alabama fans who never even graduated from high school. Roll Tide?
Moved to Mississippi a few months ago from Minnesota. It has been a shock on many levels, mostly just finding someone willing to do the job they're paid to do. I still don't have reliable internet and I'm paying 2 carriers (Jr Bubble needs the connection for college). Don't get me started on kudzu.
Fun fact: You can get MS license plates for Auburn, Bama, LSU, Memphis, and of course all of the in-state colleges. Also included among the 200 choices are high schools, adoption, soil conservation, dental hygienist, professional hair designers, and the Elvis fan club.
They do the license plate thing here too.....Miami, Clemson, Bama, Auburn, SC, Florida, FSU...Plus all the in state ones. I think thats all ive seen.
We moved to Atmore, AL nearly 15 years ago. Bama fans are incorrigible, for the most part, Auburn fans are ignorant, Florida fans are jealous and bitter, and FSU fans have comletely given up all hope. Rarely do I wear Buckeye gear without getting positive comments from fellow Buckeye fans.
Dual citizenship. House at Indian Lake (Lakeview, Ohio) and property in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
An angry fan...rooting for an angry team...led by angry coaches
I’m in Charlotte. Got a good group of friends I watch fball with every Saturday. Mix of USC, UNC, UGA, & Auburn. No fair weather fans as most went to ‘fball schools’ (except UNC but even they care about fball to a certain extent).
I really enjoy the mix of ACC/SEC fans. There are plenty of Buckeyes, UM, Notre Dame, & Penn Staters as well bc of the banking presence.
I don’t mind USC but I hate Clemson. 2 NCs and they act like they’re a blue blood. That being said, OSU is hated by nearly everyone ha. My friends will be nice and pull for us but they find our fans obnoxious and hate our cockiness. I was told we’re ‘trashy jersey wearing’ people even though I rock a polo. Oh well. It is what it is. Go bucks!
Not SEC/ACC territory but I live in Austin, Texas. Naturally, I went to ACL this past weekend wearing my OSU Ezekiel Elliott jersey and you would not believe the amount of O-H's I got from strangers, amazing there seems to be buckeyes everywhere.
Lived in Austin for a little over 3 years and have also worn one of my OSU jerseys to ACL! Definitely a different feel in TX than when I was living in TN for how people view the Buckeyes. Helps that I lived in Austin when Texas was miserably bad... Would have been nice if the alumni bar wasn't the worst bar in the city.
Checking in from the Louisville, KY area here, so both ACC and SEC. I don't get much grief from the locals, at least during football season. Up until this year, what I always found funny were the fans who wore their UK football jerseys but would happily give you a "Roll Tide." My son goes to UK, so I'm happy to see them actually having a good season for a change. And, of course, I love wearing my "85 Yards Thru the Heart of the South" T-shirt around all of the Bama fans here. Working on a military base, there are a lot of them, but the Bucks are well-represented, too.
I've been in Tampa, Florida for the last 11 years. Originally from Scioto County, OH. I see almost as many OSU fans down here as I do Gator and FSU fans. Lots of Buckeye flags here.
"You're the patron saint of the totally effed" - Hot Tub Time Machine
Stationed in Jax right now. We were also stationed here 10 years ago during the 41-14 debacle. Last year when the gators were average, it was tolerable. This year, they're better, and the old dusty gator crap is coming out of the woodwork. Must be time to move again!
Living in Baton Rouge, LA for the last 7.5 years and I have received many thanks for having Jeaux Burreaux come down from fans...but yes, SEC fans on the whole are frustrating. I lived and went to school in NW Bama for 4 years, so I am 11 years in SEC Country.
I do ministry on campus at LSU, so the Tigers are a second love for me, but every other SEC fans are brutal down here...
