He's not wrong. They are a softball school.
Michigan is a football school.
If it's the early 1900's. 2000's....not so much.
Haha, as far as bitchagain is concerned, me neither.
The two most important days in ones life is when you're born and when you find out why you were born. We were born to be champions. - TyLue
No, no, no...
Moved to College Sports.
I'm not around that much, running exhausted and lost...
Where was it originally..
see URL, which doesn't change: OSU Football.
But let's be clear, forum placement is far from the only problem,
New Day for OSU. Same noon for TTUN.
Ohio, the greatest state in the Union!
You know, it may seem a farce but more and more people in this country have never known this to be untrue.
They're more concerned with trolls over at MgoBlow than they are with Michigan football. That should give you a good idea of where that program really is in the minds of their nerdy fans. It's disgraceful that Harbaugh has brought in 3! Transfer QBs instead of being able to actually coach up the ones who bought his bullshit recruiting propoganda and signed with Michigan out of high school. Those guys probably regret that decision every single day... Should be real good for Michigan recruiting going forward. Jim Harbaugh is a fraud.
Urban Meyer >Jim Harbaugh for ever and ever, Amen. 0
I guess a guy doesn't always get Lucky twice.
Varys: I've always hated the bells. They ring for horror, a dead king, a city under siege.
Tyrion: A wedding.
How are they not a football school, I mean they are a blistering 147-82 this century! Their suck is the gift that just keeps giving.
Wow! That record is bad for a program that portrays itself as an elite blue blood
What do you mean? When you take out 2-3 OOC cupcake wins every year (plus the one loss against App St), they're STILL above .500. Isn't that a good record?
Cowherd is a fucking idiot.
Man your first comment with Finebaum’s name was funny as hell. +1
I assumed it was finebaum when I glanced over the title. Edited for accuracy. Applies to both.
Yeah no worries man, it does apply to both. You made me chuckle when you put Finebaums name in there, appreciate it.
TSUN fans might actually agree with Cowherd, and play the "we aren't obsessed with football like OSU is, we're about academics," as they attend games in the largest stadium with 114k obsessed fans.
Thank you Urban Meyer and Gene Smith
Sometimes drawn there by free Pepsi. Maybe they're a soft drink school?
I believe it was Diet Coke.
To be accurate, you had to pay for the cokes, and you had to buy two. They ain’t just giving a quality product away. It’s the tickets that were free with purchase.
Got it. it makes sense that you'd have to pay for the item of greatest value, getting the other one for free.
It did make me wonder which school is closer to becoming a football school. I do think Harbaugh is a top level coach when it comes to game plans but not a great recruiter or motivator. He is an ideal NFL coach. I’m not sure about Herman but he has a large advantage in recruiting and a less competitive conference. I guess I would go with Texas Tom but I’m not sure either is turning a corner in the next few years.
49er fans said the complete polar opposite of that when it came to Hairball.
Cowherd is right....Their not a football school, haven't been for decades......how about ttun making the playoffs????
Jimmy Mora's take on *ichigan making the playoffs......
Enjoying daily the 62-39 ttun beatdown.
Off topic but I thought you guys would be interested (I don't create threads because I've been berated and belittled both times I attempted to do so). This from our very own DJ on the Heisman Train

this is the one big negative for me on 11w. Some real arrogance floating around. I actually commented above about the jab on this post. So what, it was short. He wanted to create a topic and share it. Also, don’t spell something wrong or use the wrong “there”. I suspect the same pompass asses who don’t stand at games feel a need to be grammar police or flat out grammar elitist.
As for Jt/Dwayne, I don’t even care to bring it up. The boat was missed. Jt was one of Urbans favs. Great kid, and as we know loyalty sometimes blinds our kind hearted, good intention filled, Coach. We can’t go back... so forward it is....on the Train.
I agree with both of you and I say that as someone who pays money to help keep it afloat. When I first started posting, I was given crap for breaking an unwritten norm or having an opinion that didn't jibe with a longtime member seemingly every time I posted. It almost kept me from posting/coming to this site. However, while still a shame, I find that that is simply internet/message board culture and not an exclusive problem here and is much worse in other places. Keep posting, and consider that while the person who berated or belittled or showed a little too much arrogance might have been a prick for the way they delivered the message, may have a valid point.

You are not wrong.
I've pretty much stopped commenting in the PL, because of the way some mock threads, posters, etc.
I will get my fair share of downvotes for this take, but the reality is it only hurts the site.
Ring the f**king bell, you pansy
Half a title in 50 years? No shit they're not a football school.
We can't stop here; this is bat country...
Cowherd was sayingit for both Michigan and Texas.
They haven’t been a football school since January 18, 2001. Tressel put TTUN on notice, sharpened our focus, and they’ve never recovered.
Michigan leads the country at chess, and Texas is the cow-tipping center of the college world.
I'd say they're not football schools ATM.
Urban Meyer left an incredible legacy. 12/4/18 Ryan Day begins his.
If Tom Herman would stay out of the strip clubs and start taking recruiting seriously, he could turn Texas around pretty quickly.
Herman recruits fine-what he doesn't do is coach and emphasize toughness on D and the OL-he is one of the new breed coaches who think a program can 5 wide it's way to success if the players have enough stars next to their name. Urban and Saban know better-there is a reason tOSU and Bama are both factories for NFL OL and DL under both coaches. Emphasizing this doesn't play well w/ the 7 on 7 flag football swaggy set.
Texas will always recruit fine. What Herman doesn’t have is a staff worthy of being at Texas. We know from our own history all too well how the wrong coaches can submarine an otherwise strong program. Part of Herman’s responsibility is to spot, recruit and develop talent on the sidelines. Or pay for talent that’s already developed. Either way, he has to recognize what he needs to be successful, then convince the right guys to come. He could get away with some of that at Houston. Not in the big leagues.
Well it depends on your definition of what is a "football school".
If you define a football school as a school that cares most about football...fans, alums, all that...then yes, I would say TTUN and Texas are still football schools.
If you're defining it based on recent success, though...then no, they aren't football schools anymore. TTUN would definitely be more of a basketball school (3 Final Fours in the last 6 seasons...what has their football team done in the last 6 seasons besides lose to Ohio State? Every. Single. Time). You know, though, that fans of both of those schools REALLY want to be good at football again.
Class of 2010.
Considering their hoops program is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more nationally relevant, he's not wrong.
I don't believe Colin Cowherd isn't a douche.
TTUN was at one time able to beat high school teams. I really don't think they can anymore.
“Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.” - Mark Twain
Cowherd also pushed for Urban to be fired before the committee was even formed to investigate the situation. He's just another snake journalist selling himself for listeners. I don't consider anything he says to be even remotely credible. He even called Clemson a fraud the year they won the national title, so its not just us. And really guys, with all jokes aside, when you think about TTUN, you think about football. Cowherd just realizes if he makes that statement and puts a video on social media quoting it, people will click it and give him attention. "Make outrageous knee-jerk subjective observations that aren't remotely factual" the current sports media in a nutshell.
I love to hang a slang on TTUN as much as the next guy and I think in the last decade+ they haven't really shown much for a "football school"
Texas is a bit of a stretch for me though. Their total wins are at 898, not bad. That 2005 Ntl may be a little more than a decade, but I remember a 2008 Fiesta Bowl where we had a late lead and they broke our hearts on their last drive. Then they followed that season up with a 2009 loss in the BCS championship to bama.
So yes, a decade of mediocre football now, but I don't think they're not a football school.
In every battle there comes a time when both sides consider themselves beaten, then he who continues the attack wins. - Ulysses S. Grant
The common thread between TTUN and Texas: Arrogance.
TTUN's alumni and fanbase are arrogant in assuming that total wins means winning every year.
Texas is arrogant because Tom Herman is arrogant. MENSA genius losing to Maryland (wut?). They're also arrogant enough to start their own TV channel and chase other teams out of the Big 12.
But arrogance does not translate to winning.
"We get paid to score touchdowns, not kick field goals"
-- Urban Meyer
Neither does anyone outside of Detroit if we're being honest.
Cowherd has a problem with Michigan like Mark May has a problem with the Buckeyes. The difference is that Cowherd is not wrong.
The Browns are no longer the worst franchise in all of professional sport.
