He does look like an elusive runner. Defense is going to have to be more patient this time around, but I've seen them do that before really well so I think they'll be fine.
We have not faced a qb like that this year. I hope the preparation is intense, We need this game to keep the momentum of being one of the few “Elite” teams in the country. Not to mention PSU is looming. All focus on this one for now...#GoBucks
I think facing Tate Martell in practice so many times has prepared them well for TCU’s dual threat QB. Looking forward to a real test for this team, and curious to see how the starters handle playing a game where they will not get so much rest.
"Woody would have wanted it that way"
I'm looking forward to watching how we try to contain him. I'm a little nervous that some of the guys that haven't played as much, like Young and Cooper, might get caught over rushing and create space for him to set up and escape the pocket for a big gain with his feet.
a little friendly trash talk during the game...
I noticed he sure does have a lot of time to find his receivers. Hopefully he won't have nearly that long against our D.
I agree. It is hard to imagine he will. But this is where gap discipline from our LBs and strong safety play will be essential. I am sure our D-Line will pressure him, but that will lead to more QB runs. Let's hope our back 7 is ready for that.
"The minute we stop expecting greatness, we become Wisconsin."
The spotlight will be on the OSU linebackers. Quick short passes with the ability to run will put pressure on them. I've noticed them sitting back, slow to react and missing tackles. We are allowed to blitz I think.
with horns?.....Sounds stupid
Your mascot is a nut?!?!? Don't you think somebody could have come up with something more creative? (google Horned Frog, it's surprising)
Next time try posting something that has to do with football.....
Relax, it was a joke.
We're all out of "Little Sisters of the Poor" jokes...
There's a good mix of humor around here, as you may have noticed...ranging from goofiness to outright snark. No harm meant here.
Belated welcome to the site, good luck this weekend.
I'm not around that much, running exhausted and lost...
Our mascot is a POISONOUS nut! People alllllways leave that part out.
No, the Buckeyes haven't seen a QB like Robinson this year, but he hasn't faced a D line like ours either. Gonna be a good battle, but I see the Silver Bullets emerging victorious.
"We gotta go win this next game and make the State of Ohio proud!"-UFM
He is going to punish the buckeyes for overpursuing, especially the linebackers. I hope they learn quickly but just don't have confidence in the LB play.
If the offense can put 50+ on the board, it won't matter what the defense does. Doubtful they give up 50.
Why not? Oregon St put 31 on you guys, and I doubt they will do that again this year.
Week 2 - Oregon State 48 Southern Utah 25
I'd happily give up 31 points to TCU if the Bucks score 50+

Oops!--I guess this season was only 1 week long . . . eh dog?
All progress has resulted from people who took unpopular positions. -Adlai Stevenson, governor, US ambassador
I don't know if a running QB can survive against this defense. The quarterback is already taking a ton of hits even if he is just a pocket passer and both starters have already been knocked out of the game against us in the games we have played. I just don't think it bodes well for Robinson if he is out there taking more hits than he already would have been.
I can see Urban putting Tate Martell in with the 1st team O line against the 1st team D in practice this week to prepare the defense for this quarterback. He did it last year to simulate Mayfield and Mayfield hurt us more with his arm than his legs. Tate will have the black jersey on, of course, but if the D can keep him in front of them then they should be ready. Tate is about as shifty as they come and he showed last week that he's a decent passer. Let's hope the linebackers don't repeat the mistakes of last year. Go Bucks!
It's these types of subtle story lines where you have guys from a state with a rich history who have matched up previously, it's great because even if ESPN isn't talking about it, it matters to those kids and gives them something else to sink their teeth into.
Urban Meyer left an incredible legacy. 12/4/18 Ryan Day begins his.
Rutgers beat a similar quality opponent to TCU's two wins. Didn't go well for them last Saturday iirc... Clearly TCU is better than R however they aren't a great football team. Good but not great. Buckeyes can take good Coaching and game planning so I will believe they improve in week 3 as much as they improved in week 2; gap sound, keep qb in the pocket and squeeze him. Don't you think our D line can crush that O line like a submarine at depth? And a fast LB or two to spy qb/short middle? And that leaves 5 back to cover pass, etc outside? Hold them to 24 and we win by 24. Do you think they have answers for our offense? Other than their offense? Ain't gonna happen.
Are you reelin' in the years?
I'm pretty sure the defense is well versed in trying to contain a running QB since we've had Tate to drive them nuts for two years! I have to believe Bosa, Young, Jones, and Cooper will make his time in the pocket a bit shorter than he's faced! It all comes down to LBs and DBs in coverage! I cannot wait to witness it in person Saturday - it is going to be electric to say the least!
