No hate from me on Pridgeon having a rough week but that holding call on Dobbins wheel route was a crappy call.
Just posting and hoping my comment isn’t deleted.
Absolutely! Pridgeon was just bigger and stronger and basically pancaked the defender.
Yup I saw the Pridgeon’s man fall backwards. Not a hold.
I think Matt Millen thought it was a bogus call also.
"You're welcome for the house I built."
Yeah, I would grade anyone who got a penalty against Rutgers on a curve. That officiating crew was one of the biggest collection of busybody divas I've ever seen ref a football game. Someone please tell those refs that nobody came to the stadium to watch them.
Case in point: Chase Young's first personal foul...and maybe the second. Even if they were technically Personal Foul's, the lack of fumble call on that play was silly.
The lord of brevity.
Neither call on Young was a PF, both were unsportsmanlike conduct-kinda just bad juju for Young. If a player spikes a ball anywhere outside the end zone, he's gonna get nailed, way of the world.
Agree on that-he basically knocked the dude ass over teakettle and went down w/ him. The B10 announcer, upon looking at the replay said "Well, I'll just say I've seen a lot worse...."
When I saw the headline, “Malcolm Pridgeon Suffers Setback”, I initially got scared because I thought it might be an injury. I’m relieved that it was not that. Team penalties, however, are a concern especially against a team like TCU but they’re correctable with discipline. Besides, at least one of the calls against Pridgeon and Young was questionable to say the least.
Derrick goes overly dramatic on the headlines. Missing DJ in the editing department.
New Day for OSU. Same noon for TTUN.
Sparty was highly thought of going into this season due to the number of returning starters, but they have played uninspired and have some real issues along the O-Line (like that other TUN). As shown below, the B1G season may be rough on Lewerke and Sparty.

ONE Not Done!
Poor Sparty dude got steam rolled
Go get'em Cal Poppy - we are behind you !!
It's not a rivalry .............. it's a wreckoning.
Is he dead? Cecause he will want to be during that film session.
Pain of Discipline
Pain of Regret
Take Your Pick
Some things put a huge smile on my face and this is one of them.
Oh!! Oh my... Today I learned that I could play center at MSU. I wouldn’t be any better, but I could certainly do that.
I love seeing Sparty getting flattened as much as the next 11Wer, but that should've been offside. Watch how far ahead of every other lineman's movement he is - the ball hadn't even been snapped yet when the defender is on the center.
“The best executive is the one who has sense enough to pick good men to do what he wants done, and self-restraint enough to keep from meddling with them while they do it.” – Theodore Roosevelt
I honestly don't mind that quote from Cole, I know it got thrown around a lot this week, but iirc he was asked about Nick in an interview and said that. Saying its up to him to keep it that way is the truth no matter how unlikely it was that he actually kept it that way, its not like hes going to go up there and say "Yeah I got lucky he was rotating the last two years, he's going to kick my ass when he's in full time" and he also didn't imply that he was better than Nick at all.
Its me Austin! It was me, all along!
Yeah, it was absurd that anyone thought that was trash talk. He stated a fact, and acknowledged his job to protect the QB. WTF is wrong with that?
yep more media spin to create the story rather than accurately report the full story
You win with people.
Agree with everyone here. He said exactly what he was supposed to say. This is and has always been a non-story.
I agree with this take, but 11W staff didn't present it as a non-story,imo, just saying................
Stx, correct. If they had kept it in good fun, fine. But 11W really beat this thing to death and made it seem like the dude was just trash talking Bosa. I don’t agree with their approach.
Exactly...I doubt anyone from Rutgers was gonna be talking trash to Ohio State, especially their best defensive player in years. He had a task to take care of his QB and he made it known that was the case. This whole season they are going to be interviewing the guys blocking Bosa for obvious reasons...what are they gonna say..."well I'll try and block him but hopefully our backup QB is ready because he's gonna kick my ass". They are out there as a team trying to win a game just as much as our guys.
Bringing up that Bosa had 0 sacks against him isn't that bad but its still talking about how he has beaten him. If we play Clemson and Dabo talks about how badly they beat us in 2016 and Urban Meyer has never beaten him that would be taken as trash talk
I second this. Irritating that it was being passed around as trash talk or disrespectful when it was neither.
The holding calls were rough but the one on Dobbin's big catch and run was pretty ticky tacky. It is the old statement that they can call holding whenever they want to really. Just feel like Rutgers did more consistent holding and got few holding calls against them. OSU's was more costly in the sense that it stopped a big play from happening that was run to perfection.
Penalties are something they need to work on, especially personal foul kinds, but holding is right up there. I have to hope that they are more disciplined this week. I honestly thought some of the calls against OSU were a bit border line and should have just been allowed to pass. That said, they did fix issues with pass interference in the secondary. Which was great to see.
I know we only have one angle, but it looks like the Rutger's guy stumbled over the back of Munford's feet and Pridgeon just helped him down. Even the announcers said they didn't see a hold.
I'd rather be an hour early than a minute late.
I only saw the broadcast but I did not see anything either. Does not mean I catch everything. The announcers did comment on it. Just seemed like a mercy rule sort of call to me. SEveral did at any rate.
Right off the snap Pridgeon had his right arm around the defender's back. That was the reason for the call, not the takedown.
"We gotta go win this next game and make the State of Ohio proud!"-UFM
BD, did you see the when Bosa was literally pulled to the ground by the dude falling to his back at the start of the game and no holding was called? This was right in front of the ref.
I did actually, I probably would have been madder if the game was close but I did comment at the time. I am sure other lineman had similar issues but it is a statement to Bosa that he was fighting through that stuff all game and still played well.
Year after year, the B1G referee crews perform as some of the worst officials in all of college football. Not just for OSU games but for all teams. They seem determined in proving they are in charge by over enforcing the rules.
Stock Up - Jordan Fuller. He came in and provided much needed leadership to help solidify the DBs. I hope that continues this week as well.
Agree, this one should be number one on the list!!
Beat everyone, in every sport, all the time!!!
Yeah the difference in the secondary with Fuller in the game was enormous.
Shaun Wade stock up...way way up!
"Age wrinkles the body, quitting wrinkles the soul" Woody Hayes
ALL THE WAY UP! Small sample this year, but I like the way he is playing. I'd argue moving him ahead of Okudah on the depth chart. Just my 2 cents.
URBAN FOR PRESIDENT
Revised: Two down, 13 to go!
Stock up: Shaun Wade, Ryan Day; Stanford;
Stock down: Nebraska / Scott Frost; F$U; Florida; UCLA; USC; the other USC;
16-2 is SWEET!
I cannot be the only person who noticed SEVERAL would-be holding penalties that were visible during just about every close-up replay shot on TV. None of those were called of course. Then the one time they finally called the first holding penalty it was actually the only one that didn't really look like a holding penalty. Go figure. Either way - CLEAN IT UP! No room for that against better teams!
Michigan State pisses me off so much. They are looking like trash, but you know when we play them they’ll look like a playoff contender. Hell the season they went 3-9, they were a 2 point conversion away from beating us. It just sucks because it’s looking like a no win situation for that game. If we win it’s not going to be looked at as a quality win, and if we lose.. well that’s obvious. I guess the simple solution is win em all baby and take the human element out of it.
Feed the beast!
Win by 40-50 points
just like last year! :)
MSU is always motivated against us most of the the kids are from Ohio , and dantonio has really become known as the team to spoil TOSU season. They will be ready. But as for now all my focus is on TCU. National Stage this is Dwayne Train ‘s moment
"Vitalum Vitalis "
You mean we'll make them look better. I'll never forgive not getting Zeke the ball in bad weather, costing us another natty opportunity. Or if you want to go deeper 1998 team's 5 turnovers and inability to block Julian Peterson upset to Sparty.
Not giving Zeke the ball should be a criminal charge !
Didn’t a weekday hangover land him in the hospital leading up to that game?
Wasn’t it a staph infection in his leg?
You're too stupid to have a good time. -Dalton
According to his father, it was something like that. They sent pics to prove he was in the hospital. I never heard the team medical staff’s opinion, nor saw his playing status change (or be in question) leading up to the game. Wierd, huh??? I guess as the father of 2 teenagers, I’ve become too sceptical of excuses.
Exactly what I have been saying this week about MSU & Nebraska. They lose these out of conference games, which doesn't hurt their B1G chances, but then manage to give the Buckeyes a conference loss. 2 years ago, it was Penn St, before that it was MSU. Heavy is the head that wears the crown I guess.
"When you win, say nothing. When you lose, say less" - Paul Brown
MSU defense has been poo since Narduzzi went to Pitt.
I was telling all my B1G friends that ASU was going to win that game. Not only does MSU not play well when they go west, but B1G teams are 0-11 playing in Sun Devil Stadium. SInce I live out here and go to games in September, I can tell you Midwest teams aren't ready for 110-120 on the field (it is typically 20 degrees hotter on the field than game temperature). About 8 years ago, a favored Iowa team came in here and lost something like 44-0. I will bet anything MSU finishes with a better record than ASU because I think they are the better team, but this result was no surprise to me.
You are entitled to you own opinion, not your own facts.
Didn't Bosa get 2 sacks in the Rutgers game?
Stock up : linebackers if only a little.
Hilliard and Browning even looked decent later in the game. Malik jumped about 15’ up to tip a pass. Wow. Talk about upside.
All new angles this weekend with better athletes.
Glad I wasn't the only one that saw that. Had me thinking about those slam dunk videos from the team last year...Wasn't it Harrison that won? Either way, dude got up, way up.
Didn't Realize Winfield Jr was back with Minnesota. Didn't he run into some kind of disciplinary problem last year?
I recall that we passed on him in high school, don’t recall why, his height maybe? Or better prospects? This was a huge miss. The guys is uber talented! That game winning interception was as ice cold as it gets. That’s a shame. The other huge miss is Rondale Moore at Purdue. The guy was amazing. He set a single game total yards record for any Purdue player ever in his very first game! I watched the whole game and it made we wonder why we stopped pursuing him.
He was involved with rape allegations a couple years ago.
Oh dang, didn’t realize that.
While it would have been a great story if Winfield JR came to OSU, he probably made the best decision. He would have been called for targeting on that play if he was at OSU.
Pridgeon was NOT holding on that Dobbins pass, he threw the guy to the ground not pull him, very frustrated with this call!
Dixon is having a tremendous start and can only hope that as teams blitz he will get single looks outside! We faced so much zone last year along with not throwing to routes between the hash and sideline he was not likely to have those type of match ups!
I would rather be on hand with 10 men then elsewhere with 10,000 - Timur Lenk
Tariq Cole worked his way out of being drafted inside of 3 hours. It was not just Bosa that abused him.
I don't think that is the case, I thought Cole did pretty decent considering. That being said, I think he will be an NFL guard, but not a left Tackle.
Shaun Wade is starting to turn some heads, for sure you can't deny the kid's talent.
Urban Meyer left an incredible legacy. 12/4/18 Ryan Day begins his.
Michigan State beat Stanford in the Rose Bowl.
Stock way up on Coach Day.
Unfortunately I would add Brady Taylor to the stock down list. He has gone from expected starter at center to an afterthought at left guard. Wonder what the deal is?
I don't buy one goddam drop of gas in the state of Michigan!
This is the last time I'll beat this drum on here: but stock up on C.J. Saunders. Not once did my heart skip when he was tracking a punt in the rain and he continues to impress on his route running.
At last, Kerry had cracked open his first Red Bull with an impatient delight. And the rest, as they say, was history.
CJ Saunders gets better each time that he fields a punt. On the first 3-4 punt returns, he really struggled any time he had to make a fair catch in traffic. He did draw a couple of fair catch interference penalties, but on "bang, bang" plays, he might not get those calls in the future. So, I'm very pleased to see that he keeps getting more and more comfortable with each opportunity. You can literally see his confidence grow. By halfway into the season, it wouldn't surprise me if he becomes a true weapon as a punt returner.
Stock Down: DeMario McCall...makes me so sad!
Not to recklessly speculate, but any chance that CJ Saunders just works harder at it than McCall does?
I like DMC alot, but with his carelessness on PR, it is not hard to extrapolate that to figure out why he is not playing more often.
You can’t commit heresy against the GOAT!
I just signed my death certificate
I trying to figure out what the PR team is doing when the punt returner is interfered with. Everyone just stops and does not go after the ball apparently figuring that the call will go our way. However, you never know when the ref may determine that the guy hitting the returner was blocked into him and we lose the ball. Whenever that ball hits the ground after coming into contact with one of our guys, everyone needs to be working to get on it before the kicking team does. That was driving me nuts while watching it.
I thought pridgeon was excellent in his run blocking and solid in pass pro. 2 holding calls (1 bogus) should not bring his stock down IMO.
Nice to have 2 QB's who can hit receivers.......get the ball out.No more 7-8 in the box.
That's why I'm a bit surprised that our running game wasn't more prolific last week. Take away Tate's two long runs, and the ground game was nothing to write home about. Let's hope that it's back in gear this week so that TCU will have only two choices; 1) damned if you do, 2) damned if you don't.
My aim, then, is to whip the Weasels, to humble their pride, to follow them to their inmost recesses, and make them fear and dread us. Fear is the beginning of wisdom. - William Tecumseh Sherman (with apologies)
Blame Day and his playcalling-after Dobbins TD, Weber got a grand total of 2 carries w/ the first team OL the rest of the game, and Dobbins was finished. The running game was crushing fools, Day just took his foot off the gas.
