A lot of people view this site as a place where politics can be escaped.. Being in college, I also view it as a site where anime can be escaped

New Day for OSU. Same noon for TTUN.
Berzerk and Dragon Ball Z are the greatest animes of all time /thread
Barney Fife lives, and he lives among us.
That may be to true. I think some people may have had a soul-crushing divorce with their waifu based on their reactions.

It cannot be be discussed until it reaches the character development and plot sophistication of any episode of Yosemite Sam.

"What's the deal with anime?"
No idea, but if the first and second (by my count, in intermittent attention paid on the board the past few days) threads haven't caught on. maybe hold off on starting a third.
Don't force a discussion, it's a mistake to try and do so.
Hindsight is, and in, 2020
Yeah second, I won't bring it up again. Just strange how there's an off-topic segment of the site to see if there are common interest outside of Ohio State football I brought up one thing that some people are into and it's the most offensive thing I've ever said on this site. I was taken back a bit because there are discussions of different movies and TV shows all the time.
No worries - and rereading my first comment - apologies if that comes off harsh.
Welcome the topic, but will say timing is everything - you're on an Ohio State fansite at the start of a new college football season...
Also if it does happen again could the MOD's add anime to the inappropriate topics header? That would be very funny.

Senpai will never notice you.
Anime should stay in the privacy of your bathroom, preferably with the water running, so others don’t have to hear you
I had an anime once it was a thoroughly unpleasant experience.
Try decaf the next time

Second Benjamin Button reference on the site this week.
Not too big on anime, but have seen a few that I have liked over the years. The one that I found most enjoyable recently is more of a parody of superheroes and anime in general. That would be One Punch Man. Which was pretty freaking funny.
No idea, but the phrase "Know Your Audience" keeps popping into my head for some strange reason...

Are there no anime forums out there in the vast sea of the internet for you to discuss anime on? This is a sports forum, there isn't much crossover fans of sports and anime to my knowledge.
Well, this is the off topic segment of the site and it's not like it's a topic I bring up every day or even ever just once after I noticed some ppl on the site were interested in it. We've discussed and do discuss many different things all the time.
In his defense, sports is probably only about 70% of topics discussed here, so if he wants to throw anime out, let him live.
It doesn't matter whether you're the lion or a gazelle-when the sun comes up, you'd better be running.
Hey, to each their own. I'm not into anime, but I am addicted to Fortnite at age 30. No shame in my game. I'll take a gold SCAR, though.
The ones I’ve kept up with are One Punch Man and My Hero Academia.
My daughter is a dancer, and several years ago I observed one of her Modern Dance classes. At one point, the instructor told the class, "Let your butt have its own journey".
I'm not sure why, but it feel like that statement is appropriate here.
Honestly the closest thing to Anime that I've ever seen was animated sequence from this fight scene (a "fight" between two telepaths) during the season finale of Legion:
Don't worry if it doesn't make any sense, that's pretty much how this whole season went but I still found it too weird/fascinating not to watch (having Aubrey Plaza and a killer soundtrack helped as well).
Corey In The House is the best anime ever.
i like anime, let's talk about anime
also miyazaki's best movie is porco rosso. fight me.
I Haven't seen that one yet I'm gonna check it out based on your recommendation. I'll be back later for the fight. Because Spirited Away is Number 1
My daughter who is now a film major introduced me to Miyazaki's body of work. We have taken advantage of the Fathom events at the movie theatres and I have seen several of his works. The famous American voice actors were a plus but the visuals were fantastic. I think Spirited Away is my favorite followed by Howl's Moving Castle.
Don't apologize for bringing content. As Hove mentioned earlier it is your timing and not your question that if off. +1 from old dad.
Our people are everywhere, Esto Dignus.
Ooooh, Johnny chimes in here. Now it's official. Maybe the thread will stay this time!
Anime is pretty awesome when done the right way. There are some that are just unbearable to watch but when they're good, they're really good.
"Everything you see on the internet is true." - Abraham Lincoln
I have no use for it now ... but when I was growing up, I loved to watch Starblazers .... aka Space Battleship Yamato.
You don't know what you have until it's gone .... for example, toilet paper.
If you haven't seen Death Note I highly recommend it. Even friends of mine who don't like anime think it's great. If you can get past the aesthetic the writing is as good as any show I've seen.
Was into it years ago, still watch the occasional movie or series that pop up on Netflix. Ninja Scroll, Akira and Vampire Hunter D were a few of my favorites.
Didn't know Vampire Hunter D was a show too. I'll be checking it out.
"The magic word's rock n' roll, Man!"
I like anime. I think the fact that it all starts out in japanese limits the audience though, since the english versions are usually much worse. I'm guessing less than 1% of the commentariat on this site are interested in anime, which is why no discussions are sparked. If you want to spark a discussion, you would probably have to educate people/get them interested in it first.
