It’s nice that she supports him, but I wouldn’t mind if these headlines ended soon.
Tell the national media pigs that. They're slandering my alma mater and a place I love. I don't have to fucking like it or ignore it.
Meanwhile I wage the small scale Twitter battle... I am so gonna get banned if I don't stop going on twitter when my ADHD meds have worn off. Zero control lol.
Have you ever seen a fierce animal who you were sure wouldn't bite? Because I haven't.
No sense in arguing idiots in the Twittersphere. That'll drive you insane.
I used to have a fledgling YouTube politics channel, so I got really good at dismantling the debate in a hurry and I do enjoy genuine debate, but yeah, this has been utter trash. Though I did have fun giving a devout clay travist an annyuerism the otherday.
plus you keep them relevant. please do not retweet the haters.
MICHIGAN STILL SUCKS

Never argue with an idiot. They will beat you with experience.
Blessed to be a Buckeye
True. I heard many years ago to "never argue with an idiot because they'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience." That has changed how I deal with idiots! Go Bucks!
Arguing with idiots is like playing chess with a pigeon. No matter how good I am at chess, all the pigeon will do is knock over the pieces, shit all over the board, then strut around like they've won something.

It’s difficult not to drop down to their gutter level but sometimes they need to be set straight. Not on Twitter but have blasted idiots who chose to focus the sensationalism aspects not the facts.

Comparing some of the media to pigs is insulting to pigs everywhere.

Yes. The media can't be turned into bacon.
We have a lot of “don’t confuse me WITH THE FACTS, my mind is already made up” going around in the national media.
TG Proud Buckeye alumnus.
I would not say just the national media But a LOT closer than that. Hint..Hint.
Agreed. I haven’t watched TV since the OSU press conference. It has been a tension free week and I don’t miss sports and politics at all. Just give me college football and my recliner.
The more you act like a lady the more likely he’ll act like a gentleman.
Out of all the national media pundits, the only sane comments made about the whole Urban and alleged DV were made by Jason Whitlock and Gottleib. They actually used reason and logic in their responses. All the other diatribe was based off of emotion and feelings.
Even Chris Carter, who says Urban is a really good friend, undercut Urban. Friends like that, who needs enemies?
Trevor Matich was pretty level headed if you heard any of his comments.
Mahalo nui, Mrs. Miller!
1. Context is everything. You've been there and know.
"I’ve had a past life where I lived it. I have been the woman whose life has been threatened and the police called... thrown into a wall... clothes have literally been ripped off... etc."
2. Actions speak louder than words. You put your son in Urban's care.
“If I thought for one second that Urban Meyer would not only condone that kind of behavior, but turn a blind eye to it — as he’s been accused of doing — he most certainly would not be a dear friend and you could bet our son would not be spending the next four years of his life with him."
Aloha, Mrs. Miller, aloha nui 'oe!
Ua Mau ke Ea o ka 'Aina I ka Pono. The life of the land is preserved in righteousness. (Hawai'i state motto) Aloha nui kakou.
Might be a stupid question, Silver, but are you staying dry out there in Hawai'i?
I'd rather be an hour early than a minute late.
Mahalo for asking.
"Much ado about nothing."
Huricane Lane was downgraded to a Tropical Storm. Much more rain on the Big Island, much more wind on Kauai, not as bad as expected here on Oahu, it rained a lot, but not A LOT. Even the sets for surfing were not all that.
Glad you're OK. The film we're seeing on the news looks pretty bad. Hang tough, the rain's not over yet.
My wife and I are on Maui with our grandchildren for their visitation with their Dad (our son). We can verify what Silver stated: Much ado about nothing" We are seeing the same national stories that you are and can only imagine that it looks to the rest of the world like HI is disappearing into the ocean. The media is sensationalizing all this by cherry picking anything that shows destruction. True, there was a pretty good fire on Maui, but it was nothing compared to the forest fires on the west coast. 7 homes burned, which is tragic, but the rest of Maui is carrying on as close to normal as possible. We even went to a movie at the peak of the storm here yesterday. The theaters were packed!
As for the winds, my son (who is a helicopter pilot for Blue Hawaiian) says that the winds were nothing out of normal for the trade winds that sweep the island. He has seen many days in the past year when he was grounded that were just as bad as the current storm.
Also, God Bless you Mrs Miller - you endured something much worse than this latest storm in HI. It is good to know that you are a survivor.
E komo mai, NW Buck. You may have it a little bit worse on Maui than in Honolulu.
I lived in Hawaii Kai for 12 years. What I wouldn't give for hot malasada from Leonard's! Aloha

Thanks, NW. Stay safe and have fun.
The media sensationalizing and cherry picking facts??? I can’t believe it!
We need people to come forward and rebut what I believe to my core is an unfair slandering of a decent man. I applaud her for coming forward with this statement.
Harry Miller is not just a great athlete, he is a great kid. That this statement came from this family and she has had this kind of past is significant.
Remember all the people on here that were saying this would blow over the first nigh?. Remember those same guy's ragging on the people who said it wouldn't?...…..This won't be over this year. And it's all because of Urban trying to be a dick at the B1G
You lost me at your last sentence. I think the investigative team report was flawed in many ways but it did make crystal clear what happened at B1G media days and it was not all Meyer’s fault.
Funny how people get so butthurt when Urban is a dick but they think it's cute when Saban does the same thing.
Urban Meyer >Jim Harbaugh for ever and ever, Amen. 0
We need to stop the finger pointing of -- "look someone else is just as bad." It's a very bad look for OSU fans right now.
The worst "look" one could have displayed, is the one tOSU exhibited when they cowered to the pressure of an uninformed PC shit circus.
It. Is. Time.
If Meyer had a Coke label forward all the time (as he sips from a separate cup of water) it would help them take him less seriously like they do with Saban.
And what is wrong with being a dick? I am proud to say that a lot of people consider me one.
"You win with people" — Woody Hayes
Yes indeed, Cleve, and "abuse" is such a nebulous term. I'm heartened that Mrs. Miller specifies what happened rather than just say "abuse" or "violence."
"I’ve been the woman who has watched her (now-ex-) husband’s foot come through a door as I was cowering in a tub, the furthest away I could get. I’ve been the woman who has been picked up and thrown into a wall with my back in a towel rack and head in sheetrock... I’ve been the woman who was kicked in the ribs so hard it sailed me out of bed..."
So sickeningly sad and frightening! So glad for her that she's out.
Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall. (F. Scott Fitzgerald)
They also have good brains and hearts.
Urban absolutely has been slandered by those who say he "enabled" zach Smith to beat his wife, as if zach's employment with OSU allowed zach to beat her. So firing zach in 2009 after the first incident would have changed Smith's into a model husband? Come on. He would have continued no matter where he worked--likely without a boss who wouldn't try to get him in counseling like Urban/Shelley did. They tried to help. And now they are blamed as enablers? Smh.
I beg anyone in the media to ask whoever claims he enabled DV, “how?” Just once! I really want to hear the answer.
Respectfully disagree with you, BrutusB. This is precisely the kind of positive message and vote of support for Coach Meyer that needs to be in the public eye right now. Lord knows, tOSU has completely bungled the PR surrounding this event and a message like this from a commit's mother might ease the concerns of parents whose kids may be on the fence right now.
"You can't be a real country unless you have a beer and an airline. It helps if you have some kind of football team, or some nuclear weapons, but at the very least, you need a beer." - Frank Zappa
I have agreed so much with your takes during this whole thing, BuckIhate, you are right on point once again. You’ve been devouring UVs from me.
My thanks, Sniper! I love the Buckeyes and hate to see the senseless treatment Coach Meyer has received from a morally and intellectually vacuous press corps. Leadership is a tough gig and to see Coach Meyer, a man who has done so much to develop quality young men, attacked by media trolls who have never stood point sticks in my craw. I stand firmly by Coach Meyer not because of the team he coaches, but because he's a man of integrity who gives everything he's got for his kids every day he goes to work. Here's to hoping Coach Meyer and the Buckeyes stick a Natty up the media's collective ass come January.
It's good to hear Mrs. Miller's opinion to counter the garbage coming from ESPN's blather-heads.
I'm am sorry that Kristina had to endure an abusive relationship, and thank God she got out. I wish her and her 2nd husband and her son all the best. Thanks for speaking up.
I only wish her story would get any traction aside from appearing on pro-buckeye websites. I’d be shocked if anyone from ESPN mentions this.
I see we need another Ramzy "Not this again" article.
Boy, I got vision and the rest of the world wears bifocals! - Butch Cassidy
Not this again.
Completely disagree. THIS is a type of headline that needs to happen more. The national media will run with their narrative for as long as it provides them viewers, readers, and clickers, and not a moment less. When you have a woman willing to make such a strong statement in support of Urban Meyer like this, that is only a good thing.
She's not a family member or a lifelong friend or co-worker. She's not a lifelong OSU fan. I'll take a million of these stories so that people who have jumped on the "Urban meyer is an evil bastard"bandwagon start to realize that maybe, just maybe, they've gone too far in their rush to judgment.
"No we don't give a da*n 'Bout the whole state of *ichigan"

The ugly truth is often downvoted
Jeez, I'd like a human condition where people didn't kill and condemn each other over ethereal beings in the sky, a killer starting pitching rotation for the Reds every year, and chickens that crapped chicken dumplings, not chicken shit. Not gonna happen.
Don't see why you are throwing backhanded shade at a DV victim who has seen through the media shitstorm and come out with a pov that is distinctly different than your take, based on your posts on 11W, throughout this whole mess. Given her history, and current relationship with the program, I'd sure as hell take Mrs. Miller's take on things over you and your #woke media types.
Thank you, Mrs. Miller. Very well said.
"Medicine is not a science" - Leo Spaceman
Good. Keep that support coming. There's more out there, 11W, so go get it.
"Have a Coke and a smile!.....along with $150 in UM football tickets"
Be careful who hears that. Just got called out by a fan from the worst academic university in the B1G for that statement. But yes it is
Lol just gotta throw out the "0-6" ... I don't give a fuck who our coaches are, unless our entire team has been pumping roids, all of ttun and their fanbase should just shut the fuck up lol
I meant Nebraska, academically I respect Michigan. But yeah they aren't doing to well against the buckeyes eithef
I was just taking the opportunity to make a dig at ttun academics lol I figured you didn't mean them, although I didn't bother to try and figure it out.
Exactly what I was going to type. I'm glad she was able to change her life and end the abuse. I imagine her son isn't going to let that ever happen to her again. He is a big boy! Glad he is coming to the good guys. :)
I appreciate her perspective.
I can't lie, that's pretty damn refreshing to hear right now.
It would help if this response would be used by the media but it will not. The same as the other side of the story not being used. Too many people rushed to crucify Urban and very few are big enough people to say they may have made a mistake rushing to judgement. They expect everyone else to be absolutely perfect in their life choices but that same personal accountability doesn't apply to McMurphy and those like him.
Puppet is the right word for some of these pundits. You may still be of the opinion that Urban is wrong, but this frothing-at-the-mouth fervor that is circulating out there is misguided. I think reasonable minds can disagree with the outcome and the events, but I am squarely in the Team Urban camp.
1 week until tOSU and UO football.
You must really like that tOSU is going to dismantle OSU next weekend lol. I'm actually going to be in the Beaver section lol. I have friends with Oregon State connections
Pretty much, haha.
Have fun in the "beaver section". Wish I could join you.
UO or you owe?
Do you recognize the difference between a duck and a beaver?
One does the f*****' and the other gets f****d.
LOL. Impressive language skills. I'm sorry I asked.
No -DV from me,
But maybe should be.
You won't find anybody that personally knows Urban that will say he's not a good, respectful human being who genuinely cares about friends and family (and his football players and coaches).
Even good respectful humans make mistakes. Blind loyalty to a grandson of a friend is one.
That's absolutely correct. I'm was just pointing out that Urban is not a guy who takes the abuse of women lightly, even though ESPN would have you believe otherwise... I think they're more worried about trying to hurt buckeye recruiting than they are about Courtney Smith. That's disgusting
They don’t care about Buckeye recruiting, they just want their talking heads spewing hot-takes all day.
Strong endorsement for our coach from someone with high credibility.
A very strong woman!
"Most Noahs have two of everything, he's got four tonight" - Gus Johnson on Noah Brown's 4 TD catches against Oklahoma.
She pretty much hit the nail on the head. It's absolutely asinine that people have questioned Urban's stance on his core values of respecting women. If I'm Urban that's what would piss me off the most, that my beliefs were challenged. It's great that a woman who has lived the horrors of DV and can talk with firsthand experience is not only backing Urban but entrusting him with her son.
Great to read an article of support and understanding, building towards the future. Hope there are many more to come.
What can we do about the past? What can we even do about yesturday? Just get better and work together. Is That Ohio State? I've always thought it was.
Sorry that Mrs Miller had to live that way at one time. Must be strong to get through that. Truly can't imagine. Her perspective is appreciated.
Who would DV this?
Brett McMurphy has a lurker account
Courage and class.
You've got barbecue back there?
And very articulate. What a courageous woman to share such a very personal and heartbreaking story with a bunch of anonymous strangers, just to stand up for something, and someone, that she obviously strongly believes in. Salute!
My aim, then, is to whip the Weasels, to humble their pride, to follow them to their inmost recesses, and make them fear and dread us. Fear is the beginning of wisdom. - William Tecumseh Sherman (with apologies)
Thank you Mrs Miller for putting everything in perspective and also thankful you are a survivor! I do wish, as you do that people would get the facts straight before condemning anyone. Unfortunately, there are a lot of puppets in the news media. (fake news)
would have been a lot more powerful without the “fake news” needlessly tagged at the end
Everybody and their Mother knows Urban Meyer did nothing wrong. Courtney Smith filed many false police reports, the police investigated her claims on numerous occasions and found her allegations to be untrue, her own parents say she is lying. She is a disgrace to the real DV victims out there.
Also, Michael Drake needs to resign. What a sorry excuse for a leader.
but... but... he brought THE Tom W. Davis Clock Tower to campus
"I feel ready for whatever awaits me on the other side. I don’t fear adversity. I don’t fear the spotlight. I don’t fear success. And I don’t fear failure." - Braxton Miller
"Everybody and their mother."
I see what you did there.
Drake didn't suspend Smith and Meyer b/c he wanted to appease woke media types, he suspended them for being idiots in keeping Zach Smith on the staff for 6 years in the wake of everything that has come out. I certainly don't fault him for that-and he has done a great job overall as president of tOSU-he has few more things on plate than keeping cranky football fans placated.
Serious question. What has Drake done that has been great? I get that money is still rolling in, but from what I have heard he has been very disruptive over at the med center (the cash cow) and is potentially causing real damage there. The public perception of him tends to either be negative or nonexistent. I imagine he has some good, but I can't think of anything impressive. And he has now added to the PR nightmare with the press conference the other night.
I wouldn't mind at all if the university chose to go in a different direction with their president. Tress was born for that job, btw
Campus building/expansion is going well, the The Stephanie Spielman/James Cancer Center expansion, the initiative to lower (or not raise) , he also did a good job handling the terrorist and BLM occupation messes when they came up. Drake is the CEO of a multi-billion dollar enterprise that happens to have a football team w/ a fanatical fanbase attached to it. If you are the type of person who judges him solely by the level of "support" he gives the football HC when said HC handled a personnel situation badly, your priorities and understanding of his role are very myopic.
I don't understand this continuous whining about Drake when the BOT themselves have stated they voted in unison regarding suspending Meyer. And one BOT member has stated that no one, including Drake, wanting Meyer fired.
Drake didn't unilaterally suspend Meyer, the BOT of OSU voted to do so and directed Drake to carry out their wishes.
This lady's testimonial is a credit to her own strength and her character which she has kept through a horrendous experience. I wish only the best for her and her family.
They would’ve said any action they chose to take was a unanimous decision. You don’t meet for 10 hours if it’s a unanimous decision. The entire board, aside from maybe one member, wanted Urban completely reinstated. Michael Drake wasn’t on board.
They did not vote in unison (unanimous). That was clearly not the case as Drake stumbled over that part of the press conference.
This is what the media doesn’t understand, Urban and Smith were suspended because they didn’t get rid of ZS a long time ago not because he committed domestic violence. The media just sees the 3 game suspension and turns it into what they want the suspension to be for which is domestic violence and they want to say that’s not enough for that.
All the people in the media want to act like they are all high and mighty and have never done anything in their lives that was wrong, never knew there was that many perfect people in the world.
Napbuck, I agree with you but it’s Ohio State’s and Drake’s fault the reasons for the suspension weren’t clearly spelled out and the media were able to spin it.
Wow, what a powerful read, God bless you Kristina Miller. I can't even image the horror you lived through. Thank you for your support of the best coach in college football and the best university in America.
Wow well said !
Thank you Mrs. Miller, no woman, EVER, should have to go through that. I'm a married man, and I cherish my wife. My job is to protect her and love her with my entire heart and any man, married or otherwise, who thinks differently is not a man. I don't think anyone in Buckeye Nation condones domestic violence, and we appreciate your strength to speak up during a time when all the national media cares about is skewing the facts to fit their narrative. We need more thoughtful voices with your perspective speaking out. If and I say if, Courtney Smith (CS) experienced DV, then we should fully support her in getting the justice she rightfully deserves.
With that being said, if it's comes out that CS made up these allegations or was the aggressor in these situations, called 911 as many times as is alleged (and supported by the police that when they responded they found no evidence of her allegations), and this was a well hatched plan to bring down her ex husband and Urban Meyer...then this women did a disservice to all woman everywhere that experienced what you went through and she should be called out and condoned for this behavior. I can only hope the media holds her accountable.
she should be called out and condoned for this behavior.
You might want to use a term like "chastised" or something similar, rather than "condoned".
Otherwise, I'm with you 100%! I was raised by old-fashioned parents, that a real man never raised a hand against a woman unless it was true self-defense. I've been married to the same sweet girl I met in college for 34 years now, and have never/would never even dream of mistreating or abusing her. That's also the message I have passed along to my two daughters.
God bless Kristina Miller for surviving the nightmare of her first marriage, and coming back strong. Sounds like she met and married a real good man the second time around, and has raised a gem of a son.
So glad to have a family of this character coming in to be part of Buckeye Nation!
How about "condemned"?
Thanks , you're right...I used condoned incorrectly. Consider this my official notification of an edit, "The previous post used the word "condoned" and it has been edited to say "condemned"." (See Brett McMurphy, I'm not even a journalist and I know how to do it)
Jason, I figured you knew what you meant and just had one of those spell checkers like mine, that changes what I say on the fly.
Thank you Kristina. It brightens my day to see someone stand up for Urban Meyer. Good luck to you and your family, and I hope your son has 4 fantastic years playing for the Buckeyes.
Wonder if McPuffinStuff will have the courage to tweet that statement....nah doesn’t play into his narrative....
The one that made me laugh is when he took Urban Meyer’s apology as proof that he knew ZS hit his wife...the dude has something mentally wrong with him and is very dangerous.
And he got excoriated for that tweet. It has been a full day, and he hasn't tweeted since. I thought it was interesting that Zach's lawyer said that Brett will be getting a phone call as he has found the person who hacked Zach's accounts and they are cooperating. Crazy stuff.
Omg that would be amazing. I think there could be more to come on CS as well that could paint her in a negative light and not as some poor helpless victim.
Wow. Stories like these are just make me shake my head. I guess that's why my wife seems to still love me even though I have 50 year old 'Dad abs'. Our time in life is so short, we need to make it better for each other.
Damn right I'm a Buckeye
Thank you Kristina.
New York Buckeye
Someone should send this to Blu fan and the mouthbreathers at that walmart site called mgoblog or whatever that freaking site is called.
Sincerely asking, did Blu.fan say something negative?
Blu.fan is actually rather respectful and takes a lot of heat in stride, as he should if he’s going to banter on a rival’s message board.
Never been to that site...and never will go there.
Well written and stated, Mrs. Miller.
I wish that the media would report things from a "neutral" position, examining the facts of the case and putting them out there so that the reading public can come to its own conclusions. However, we live in a time where the media attempts to manipulate the thoughts of the public and their only goal is to get as many "clicks" on their article as possible.
They don’t try to manipulate thoughts, that’s too much effort. They decide what their audience wants to hear and just gives it to them in lieu of the truth. This happens on both sides
Great message of support from Mrs. Miller, a courageous woman who sadly had to endure things most of us can’t even imagine. Sad that this well written and potentially helpful message to victims of abuse won’t be pushed out by the national media with the same force as the hate for Urban where it would have a greater chance of reaching more individuals in need and give them hope or the strength to try to change their situation.
Wonderful words. We need more level-headed people like her in this world. That last paragraph especially sums up this situation nicely.
And Mrs. Miller, if you are reading, thank you! And mad respect for you! Seems like a great young man you raised and we will be blessed to have.
Wow that was powerful. Love the Miller family already. Stud athlete son and strong mom.
Wow!!!! Thank you so much for sharing your story Mrs. Miller. I’m sure Urban is thankful for you sharing this and your very supportive words.
Fields of Dreams
All I can say is, wow! What a refreshing perspective from a courageous woman!
My God--someone who has principles!
Fair ones, no less!
Despite her personal history, she insists on fairness no matter where the chips might fall. Yes, this attitude makes sense, because she has been on the receiving end of tremendous unfairness firsthand and clearly didn't like it, yet it's so rare for a victim to maintain his or her highest principles, because most people cave into one-sided reflexive reactions.
I just hope she doesn't take her story to the national media, because I'm guessing they'd be only too happy to abuse her (ironically) for not sticking to their narrative. Why, how dare she sound like more of a principled human being than 99% of our sadly unprincipled journalists!!!
Small surprise that her son looks like a real winner on and off the field.
Thank you Mrs Miller. A must read for parents of commits and recruits. From here forward I predict many more justice pieces like this.
That is one brave woman.
Fitzbuck | Toledo - Ohio's right armpit | "A troll by any other name is still a troll".
Andrew, thank you for this post. It’s a refreshing pushback against the binary narrative that you either hate Urban Meyer or you don’t care about or believe victims of domestic violence.
I would have preferred it said that Meyer was suspended for his mishandling of numerous on and off field issues with Zach Smith including allegations of domestic violence. It is an important part of this, but it’s clear from the report that there was so much more to Smith’s almost pathological failings.
"Woody would have wanted it that way"
This is exactly why I am so angry at Ohio State - or at least its leaders - for how they handled this and the ambiguous message they sent. All they had to say was (1) there was no failure to report the DV allegations, so no punishment for that, but (2) we are suspending Meyer for failing to terminate Zach Smith for other instances of misconduct. They cowardly tried to appease the masses by saying he didnt do everything he ‘should’ by reporting it to bosses who already knew about it. They just gave life to McMurphy and all the other sanctimonious media members who want to cast Meyer in the worst light.
Snook wrote a new FB piece on this issue that is spot on https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10211987675436079&id=1498798014
Amen Mrs. Miller. I’m glad she shared her thoughts and support for Meyer.
This should be shared with the world right now.. put it out there and tweet it at every one of the national media personalities who have been blasting Urban.. make sure they see it. They won't touch it of course.. can't try to discredit a DV survivor's opinion without looking bad, and definitely don't wanna give her any credit and risk supporting Urban lol
We will be fine.
"Many treat information today like a buffet choosing the option that supports their views and ignoring the rest, which is exceedingly more difficult when a one-sided narrative is being driven. We all need more thought and less mindless hoarding. Research. Think without bias, otherwise you’re nothing more than a puppet. Most importantly, if you are a woman, get help, form a plan and leave.”
Gospel truth. Thanks to you, Ms. Miller.
I am not very smart, but I recognize that I'm not very smart. --- W.W. Hayes
Powerful words from a true victim of abuse!
I am currently married to a woman who was a victim of domestic abuse too, and has the scars to prove it!
Why is Mrs Miller the first victim to talk about this?
It's because a real victim knows the difference!
The national media has already convicted Urban and the whole OSU college for allowing DV, they must have been holding Courtney down while Zach was beating her!
Problem was, that's not what happened at all!
It was a toxic, vengeful marriage that still carries on!
Meyer was only guilty of giving Zach to many second chances!
Nothing to do with DV!
Ask a real Survivor, like Mrs.Miller, are my wife!
Someone buy this woman a drink!! /s
Wow, this is very well written from a person who has lived it. Thank you Kristina for your vote of confidence to Coach Meyer in a time when so many high and mighty in the media are calling him a fraud and a supporter of DV. You must be a very strong woman and I'm sorry to hear that you had to go through those terrible times. It will be great to have you and your son as part of the Buckeye family in the near future.
Amazing courage from her!
I don't have Twitter...someone share this to McDickbag and see if he responds to it.
That’s some of the heaviest stuff I’ve ever read on this site.
I wish you peace & happiness, Mrs. Miller.
A failure to plan on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part.
Bless you Mrs. Miller! For your statement, but more so for having suffered and survived to raise such a well rounded son. I can't wait to see him in the Scarlet & Gray.
Nothing cleanses the soul like a no call pass interference.
Good post I applaud her for putting herself out there for the world to see like that. That takes some serious guts to be honest.
Wow. What an amazingly well written message in support of our coach. One of two things will happen, either this will never be mentioned by the national media or she will be attacked for it.
It’s horrible what she went through and I’m sure she had to re-live it to write about it. My favorite part was: Research. Think without bias, otherwise you’re nothing more than a puppet.
They will not mention it. They would never attack a victim of DV, because the masses when then turn on them. Which would be amazing.
I hope the idiots at ESPIN see this, and digest it! Especially that asshat Paaawl Fartbox!
Mrs. Kristina Miller,
Thank you and your family for your first-hand testimony about abuses within the family. Thanks also for your descriptive opinion of Urban Meyer's character in this issue based on your long-term, personal, first hand experience with the Meyers.
Your example here points toward an attitude and direction by which ordinary people can address this complex problem... where experts and lawyers and organizations and communities... are unwilling to go.
Is this really you, Buck68?
I've been on here a year and have had trouble deciphering what your cryptic messages mean.
Now I feel a little bit let down by this clarity.
Thank you sincerely, Buck68.
He must have hired a PR firm.
The juice is worth the squeeze
Obviously not the same PR firm OSU is using.
Mrs. Miller, thank you very much for your words. I am so very sorry that you, or anyone, should have to deal with something like that.
When I see and hear specific, reportable, and verifiable claims from Courtney Smith, then I will believe that she is as reputable as Mrs. Miller. Alas, nothing I've heard so far gives me much confidence in her claims.
I am just so sorry that Mrs. Miller was made to experience what she did. I have witnessed brutality of that magnitude more than once during my sixty-seven years, and the very thought of those instances makes me sick to my stomach. Yet, she stands up for someone who, at this moment, is one of the most (unjustifiably) maligned people in this country. She has displayed more sheer heart (mixed proportionately with a nose for fact) than all of those self-serving "journalists" combined. Hat's off to her...
Support in the recruiting world and belief in Meyer among high school players and families is more important than explosive headlines.
My take is "Don't sweep nutt'n under the carpet". No matter how close/friendly/related you are. Tressel and now Urban have learned that. Shelley told him. His deleted text messages were deleted for a reason. Can't turn a blind eye to reality.
Stop being one of the tools and read all the information on this case so you can be informed and not part of the mockingbird press. Meyer didn't sweep anything under the rug. For God's sake, the police investigated every accusation.
Thank you mrs Miller for the brave story. It’s horrible that these media actors are just using this issue for views and clicks. Do they really care that women go through frightening days? Or just pretend to and use it as a springboard to drag down mostly innocent coaches? Disgraceful
Banks of olentangy
Great article Andrew and thank you for speaking out Mrs. Miller!
Thankful for Mrs. Miller having the perspective and courage to speak up. Harry and the whole family sound like great people and I am looking very forward to his college career here.
Why does society continue to think that DV is only a one way street? The women's BB coach At Brown University was arrested for DV for assaulting her husband. I mentioned this in another thread and I was called out by one of the moderators as making a ludicrous statement and called drunk by another moderator. Krystal Glover, the wife of a PGA golfer was arrested and charged with DV for physically abusing her husband for failing to make the weekend cut at a PGA tournament. Hope Solo was arrested and charged with DV. Heather Locklear was arrested and charged with DV. Studies have shown that women are the aggressors in 50% of domestic disputes yet society continues to falsely believe that women aren't capable of DV
Why does society continue to think that DV is only a one way street?
Why make a gross generalization?
I mentioned this in another thread and I was called out by one of the moderators as making a ludicrous statement and called drunk by another moderator.
I'll call you out for excessive complaining.
Studies have shown that women are the aggressors in 50% of domestic disputes yet society continues to falsely believe that women aren't capable of DV
...And that men are the other 50%. We get it.
Now please behave in the Staff posting.
PG <3 PG
I’m not saying women never hit men, but I would save your argument for the day we need a battered men’s shelter.
DV isn't just physical violence. There's also emotional DV. I have a neighbor who almost has to get permission from his wife to take a dump. I know nothing about the Zach Smiths marriage but it sounds like his wife is just as nuts as he is. Zach got arrested for trespassing at his wife's apartment complex simply for dropping off the kids when she failed to show up at a predetermined place to get the kids. She purposely set him up. That's DV, not physical but emotional
There are, and we need more, and when you have idiots on the internet argusing that men's shelters are a waste of taxpayer money how do think male victims feel. Martin is getting crapped on for how he started things, but he is not wrong about abuse being two way. It knows no gender. Look at this article, it shows light on the topic. Acknowledging baloth sides of a coin does not diminish one side and the same with domestic violence.
I almost never agree with Martin, but I do here. Some may not like it, but he does speak the truth. DV cuts both ways and I can personally attest to that.
There need to be better social support systems for women victims but remember there are virtually no social services when men are the victims of DV.
Send the Earth Reverberating
I agree, but why bring it up here? Did anyone say it’s a one way street?
Wow. The strength of this woman is absolutely incredible. I couldn't care less how people feel about Meyer before or after this testimony, I am simply in awe of her courage. Wow.
Some you may have seen my posts speaking about my past experience - both professional and personal - with domestic violence.
In some of those posts I talked about the difference between a relationship that has violence and a domestic violence situation. They are not the same.
There is power and control and the purposeful use of intimidation in domestic violence.
What this very brave woman just shared with us is the kind of serious situation laws and shelters and outreach and community and awareness are designed to help and protect.
I do believe there was violence - most likely mutual - between ZS and CS. But not the kind described by the survivor above. What happened between the Smiths appears to be 2 very toxic, immature, adults who lack appropriate problem solving skills and have poor coping mechanisms, who escalate situations for a whole host of reasons germane to an unhealthy marriage.
Many like Mrs. Miller live with an ever present fear. We don't call the police. We don't talk about it with family and friends. We hide our injuries, we don't document them. We don't talk back and we don't pick fights. We're ballarinas dancing on eggshells trying not to make a sound.
That's fear. That's power. That's control. That's domestic violence.
Any implied criticisms I've expressed toward CS has not been to minimize her experience, but because those women who are at significant risk for their lives cannot be lost in the muck and the mire of the Smith's marriage.
Thank you Mrs. Miller for sharing your story.
Buckeye born and bred. Buckeye til I'm dead.
Well said. You’re spot on. And so is Mrs. Miller. Her account is exactly what it’s like. every detail.
To me, it's amazing the Kristina was willing to essentially relive what she went through many years ago, although I'm sure that horror is with her every day of her life. I'm sorry for what she went through, but I am grateful that she is willing to lend a different perspective to this saga. I'm also very happy that she has seemingly found a life that she deserves. Thanks for sharing.
"We gotta go win this next game and make the State of Ohio proud!"-UFM
Tremendous courage and strength in this woman and class in coming out with a statement like this to help (hopefully) alter the media mob approach to Urban Meyer's imperfect (but not malicious) handling of a screwed up situation, a situation that clearly had a lot of confounding issues.
Thank you Mrs Miller . Sorry for your past situation, and your final words " get help, form a plan and leave" should be the mantra all who suffer the same adhere to . For a non-Ohioan sending your son 600 miles away to make such a statement , speak volumes and takes a lot of guts to tell your story. Perhaps we begin to see the 2019 version of Dawn and Stacey Elliott take shape and you and the Miller family can lead others in the recruiting class to verbally support Urban and the Buckeyes.
Headline from McMurphy:
"Mother of Ohio State commit offers scathing review of Urban Meyer."
Did Urban get suspended for mishandling DV as the lead to this story says? I would say he was suspended for lack of knowledge or control over Zach Smith The sooner we move away from the DV issue the better because I think most of us believe he handled that correctly
Ohio State wasn’t perfectly clear, which springboarded the lambasting, because those with an agenda were left free to spin it
It wouldn't have mattered what Ohio State BoT, President, AD, Meyer had said. The die was cast er nothing was gonna change the lynch mob's narrative.
Confirmation bias has a stranglehold on the dim-witted, simple-minded, empty-headed, obtuse media.
Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect. ~ Mark Twain
I dont agree. They needed to be crystal clear that the suspension was for retaining Smith despite other misconduct but that Meyer did not cover up domestic violence and was not being suspended for it. The minute that presser was over I started getting national headline notifications that he was suspended for his handling of DV allegations.
I was raised in a domestic war zone. I was the target of violence from age 4 until 21. I am blessed to have survived and to have, by God's grace alone, overcome.
Harry's Mom has too. She knows what she is talking about. It is called discernment. Having endured the painful experiences, forgiven, and moved on from victimhood to victor, she gets it...and is absolutely right about Coach Meyer.
Well done, Sis!
We've shared that common experience from previous commentary, OH-10.
To the survivors.
To the survivors & overcomers! Cheers, Brother!
Yes, OH-10, to the overcomers. To be an innocent victim brings our sympathy; to be an heroic overcomer draws our admiration.
We found our leader and ambassador for the class. Keep on.
Go for 3.
Thank you Mrs. Miller! Thank you for taking a stand for a good man, at a time it is not easy to do, due to the current bias, media-driven false narrative. The strength of your courage and conviction is truly inspiring.
Those replies are fucking disgusting. Absolute proof these brainless clods only want Meyer fired; they couldn’t give a damn about domestic violence. Then they have the nerve to move the goalposts when called out. Disgusting.
My heart goes out to the Millers, especially Harry for having to go out on his own and defend his mother’s honor from the social media horde. I’m glad to have such an independent young man joining the team.
Let’s not treat allegations as fact.
We can learn a lot from Mrs. Miller. Maybe OSU has a job for her?
Oh god, that would be the worst look ever
She could be a Real LIfe Wednesday speaker/guest.
And agreed on a job at THE while her kid is on the team. Think of the shady dealings by Harbaugh to players' parents and coaches.
She could SHOULD be a Real LIfe Wednesday speaker/guest.
In old Ohio there's a team that's known throughout the land...
Thank you, Kristina. God be with you.
I was about to comment on the use of the word, "Survivor", of domestic abuse as the word is usually greatly misused but then I read her post and shut the hell up. She really has the right to make such a claim and God bless her and I'm so very happy she's found a second life.
“Many treat information today like a buffet choosing the option that supports their views and ignoring the rest, which is exceedingly more difficult when a one-sided narrative is being driven. We all need more thought and less mindless hoarding. Research.”
Some great words of wisdom in there. Takes a lot of courage to bring out your own past experiences.
“Megadeth >>> Metallica” - Alum 2019. I couldn’t agree more.
A lot of people in the media will read that message from her and intentionally choose to ignore it.
I know some folks at a certain four-letter network that could learn a thing or two from reading that.
Thank you Mrs. Miller for sharing.

Thank you 11w for this story. And this was my favorite part:
If you are or someone you know is being abused, call the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 800-799-HELP (7233) or visit thehotline.org for help.
OSU’s PR department could learn something from Jason and his staff of writers.

I haven't always agreed with you throughout this tragedy Navy, but you are on the bullseye here, that is for sure! Imagine how much more helpful would this awful situation would be to people in their own storm if every article or T.V. segment took a few characters and seconds to convey such a simple message.
"The only good thing about it is winning the d*** thing" - Urban Meyer on The Game The War
Healthy discourse is what makes this site great. As long as we can all walk away and cheer for our favorite team together.
Amen, my friend!
Yes, there was a take-away to aid in doing something.
Since Urban is being held responsible for resolving his employees' personal problems, I find it surprising that Urban's phone number was not provided.
Like others have stated, thank you for sharing your very personal story Mrs. Miller. There is a passage " Be angry but don't Sin". Coach Meyer isn't perfect but the outright garbage hurled his way is extremely unfair and very difficult for me not to say what I want but knowing I will break that passage. Hope everyone is having a nice weekend and Go Bucks!
Thank you for being you, Kristina. For having the strength to survive what you did and then be willing to open up those old wounds to defend a good person from a different form of attack. It is precisely these types of relationships and outreach that will help Urban, Shelley and the Meyer family, and the Buckeye team get past the way the university mishandled this investigation.
Enjoy every moment of being there to support Harry for his senior season!
Obviously, she condones domestic violence.
Note to Finebaum, Dodd, "et al.":
I could give a rats ass what your opinions are of Urban Meter and/or The Ohio State University. This woman's words carry FAR more weight than the lies and gibberish that come out of your mouths or words that you put on paper to make your selves relevant to your viewers and readers. This woman has lived the life and knows what abuse is when she sees in and hears about it. Maybe for once you should set your pens down, shut your trap holes, and listen. It would server you well.
Amen. But we all know they like to hear themselves talk too much to actually listen to someone else.
Powerful. Thank you, Mrs. Miller.
"His biggest fault was in trying to help someone who obviously had too many problems, some never proven and many unknown, a choice now I imagine he deeply regrets."
"Many treat information today like a buffet choosing the option that supports their views and ignoring the rest, which is exceedingly more difficult when a one-sided narrative is being driven. Well said... Enough said
This will NEVER get passed on by the Maggots..It is so against their basic "philosophy".
She's my new favorite soon-to-be team mom.
Why the DV? A HS for you.
Courageous statement by Kristina Miller! Putting her own personal experience out there to share with all, takes strength and courage. Appreciate her personal perspective on UFM, and am appreciating her commitment and resolve. No doubt she would not have allowed her son to be part of our program if she had the slightest doubt.....
I'm so ready to see Oregon State waffle stomped next weekend!
I cant, for the life of me, figure out why you got a down vote for this. +1 to offset. Very nicely stayed.
Thank you for speaking from the heart, Mrs. Miller. I'm sure the Meyer's appreciate it as well. So glad your son has chosen to be an Ohio State Buckeye! Welcome to the Buckeye family and again, thank you for sharing your very personal story.
We didn't lose the game.. we just ran out of time. Vince Lombardi
If the media even pick this up they will probably spin it and say well Ohio State is probably paying her and her son to come play there anyways, or she is just saying it so her son has a better chance at playing early.
An angel is born!
"I think Alabama would beat Ohio State if they played next weekend!" Clay Travis Fox Sports Post Championship Show 1.12.2015. Needs no explanation.
This is the first article I have read during this excruciating witch hunt. Like most others on this page, I applaud Mrs. Miller for your courage and personal fortitude to write these statements. Whether you like Coach Meyer or not, your words about DV and how to overcome the violent past are amazing.
For those on here commenting on the national obsession to crucify Coach Meyer, and by association Ohio State, those fiends will never read, understand or about Mrs. Miller's words. They could care less what other people think as long as a few cretins follow and bow-down to their diatribes. Her words tell the truth, using facts, so she is immediately disqualified in the jackals minds.
Thanks again, Mrs. Miller and GO BUCKEYES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My favorite players mother already. She loves her child so this carries weight. I believe she wouldn't let him go to OSU if she thought something was wrong. This can only help with other recruits families with doubts.
I'm glad his family has critical thinking to understand that UFM is against DV. Let's sue Brett and ESPIN for slanders so that we can recruit better.
I hope Mrs. Miller is healed well. My hats off to her. Go Bucks!
Thank you, Mrs. Miller for dropping the knowledge and the mic!
Something lost in this is people can survive and thrive this stuff and it's never too late to get help. If you're in a situation like this get help! Reach out in whatever way you can! I've seen this site save a persons life and I'm thankful that they posted the number to the National Domestic Violence Hotline in this article. It's more than I've seen any other media outlet do.
I spent over twenty years in the Armed Forces and I am simply in awe of this woman's courage.
I don't know how long she was in that situation but to live in mortal terror like that and still somehow find the strength to drag yourself out and seek a new life is beyond my comprehension.
Don't wrestle with pigs. You get filthy and the pigs love it.
By all means I have nothing against bacon.
However those characters at eSpin, et.al. are rank pickled pigs feet and should be trash canned.

Nope, it's "You're still guilty even though a high-powered independent committee said you weren't".

-- Urban Meyer
Thank you to Ms. Miller for sharing her story of abuse and triumph. Her own experiences with DV serve as a reminder of what some women have had to endure, often without the necessary or appropriate support. To not only survive that but to thrive speaks to her strength and spirit.
If there was any evidence that DV was condoned by Coach Meyer and OSU, my support for Coach Meyer would have ended for sure. However, the 'evidence' never added up for me nor did the allegations ever really make sense.
From an OSU perspective, it's great to have such a high profile recruit's mother address these accusations and her firm belief in Coach Meyer. The haters will hate anyway but it's certainly hard to argue with someone with her perspectives on DV and this matter. Go Bucks!
This just in McMurphy says this is all spin and that Mrs Miller is nuttin’but a ho.
God bless Urban FRANK Meyer
In Antoine Winfield I trust
I know you're joking but I will say this. I hope to God for his sake McMurphy is an absolute saint to his wife and has never done her wrong once in their marriage (not likely btw). Cause if he's anything less than that and even worse, he has dark skeletons of his own that are in any way similar to ZS you can bet a lot of people who dislike him will look to bring them to light as well. Just look at Asia Argento who is the driving force behind the #MeToo Movement. She herself is now being accused of sexual misconduct (against a minor no less). That's hypocrisy at its finest right there.
Thank you Ms. Miller for sharing this story and addressing these accusations.
Your son will shine at Ohio State and I look forward to cheering for him, Coach Meyer and all the Buckeyes.
It’s suffice to say Miller’s mom won’t be scoring an interview with ESPN or the Columbus Dispatch. I’m so glad she took the time to voice her story and opinion of our head coach.
Couldn’t come at a better time, much respect to you Mrs. Miller for overcoming a horrible situation.
Nothing but respect for Mrs. Miller. I'm glad she's a survivor.
I'd like to see more outpouring from Buckeye parents and recruits' parents. Maybe in some coordinated way -- I'm recalling the video from the Tressel era where parents expressed their pride and love for their sons. Someone could do that for our Coach.
Urban Meyer speaks about how Testimony trumps Theory. This is best example of testimony that could ever be spoken.
In fact, Mrs Miller, I applaud you for continuing to stand up for victims of DV, and especially in the face of the national media which does not care to learn from your truth.
Thank you and may God bless you.
To my present-earthly friends at EW,
I haven’t remarked on here in a long time, but I visit here nearly every day for Good Buckeye takes and (mostly) reasonable comment creators.
I haven’t read any other comments as yet, but I felt I had to log in simply to say, “God bless you, Ms Miller!” These are the people who see Urban Meyer intimately, and know him well, unlike 99.99% of the rest of us.
So many haters out there...I wouldn’t know where to begin my rant, so I’ll just refrain from ranting.
It is more than obvious that our coach is human, and NONE of us know the pressure cooker world of a world class coach at a world class university.
It is also more than obvious that these kids and their parents love the man, and Ms Miller is just the beginning of the outpouring of genuine love and compassion that eventually will drown out and shame the pompous pundits and hell-bent hacks.
And I will tell you another thing...THIS is the year it is all put together again...an angry and talented team indignant about the way a beloved mentor has been raked through the muck.
Clemson, Alabama, and Georgia will be praying they don’t have to face these Buckeyes until the final dance...and even then will crawl away, soundly thrashed as a sacrificial substitute for those wide-lipped liars who will soon be salivating to spew forth their poison this year.
Endure it with your head up and jaw set.
This IS the future. I have been there and I saw it.
Buckle in Buckeyes, for the ride of your life!
Your other-dimensional friend,
PS: Yes, Hove, I see you about-glad you’re still kickin it!
I like cookies.
Let your voice be heard more often.
Let's give a big collective handshake and hug to our coach when he returns to the sidelines. I'll be there.
People on twitter attacking her.
It’s almost like they don’t ACTUALLY care about DV victims but rather just use people like Courtney to further and anti-OSU/Urban Meyer agenda
Where are people attacking her on twitter? That's disgusting if true.
These are the actions of cowards who can’t bear to have their I’ll-begotten narrow views threatened.
I appreciate how difficult it must have been to write this, Mrs. Miller. Thank you for offering your perspective. I am so happy you are now in a safe place.
I've had one experience with domestic violence. Here's my story. I'm a sturdy son of Ohio, Class of 1980. Dad taught me to respect/defend women. Left the North Coast for SoCal in 1982. Met Juli, one of six siblings 5 sisters one brother. Product of a divorced family so no father figure around so I couldn't fault John for not defending his sister. Next youngest sister, Jill, had an abusive boyfriend and I was to meet him for the first time at a July 4th family function and had to promise not to beat his ass on sight.
I broke my promise.
After meeting "Stu" I was disgusted by his presence and invited him to "have a talk" behind the barn where I informed this rodent that there was a man in the family now and if I heard anything about him getting physical with Jill I was gonna beat him to a pulp. Specifically I told him I'd be out of jail before he was out of the hospital. He laughed at me. I was 29, 6'1" 235 pounds and proceeded to break his nose, knock out a couple teeth and broke my right hand on his face.
The abuse ended that day.
People came running to Stu's pitiful cries for help. I embarrassed Juli. I questioned/challenged her sisters boyfriends manhood for allowing the situation to go unchallenged (I was the new guy). My actions were derided as being something less than civilized, Juli's oldest sister, a Univ Southern Cal PhD grad (we never got along) inferred that I just might be the missing link. But I didn't care. I did what needed to get done
They didn't understand.
i spoke the abuser's language and he understood. Meet violence with violence. No need for therapy. Like Woidy said, "nothing clears the mind like a good ass whooping".i never saw Stu again he just disappeared. This was the one and only fist fight I ever started in my life. .
My younger brother had a short stint after high school where he fell into with a bad drug-using crowd. He changed from being a respectful young man to becoming an asshole, for the lack of a better term. Our mother, who was about as quiet and pleasant as one could be, was trying to encourage to build upon his previous strengths to be a better person. He instead unleased a stream of vitriol toward our mother. I am not a big nor physical person, and when you're my size, you have a tendency to be a negotiator, not a fighter, but I told him right there if he said one more bad word about our mother, I would take him down. His answer was "fuck her and her nagging."
I hadn't been in a fight since a two minute slap boxing escapade in 6th grade at recess. So here I am confronting my brother years later, I was 24 at the time and he was 20. My brother is bigger than me and was heavy into weight lifting. I popped him so hard he went completely down flat. I then told him he better not ever speak a foul word again in her presence. He laid there for about 20 minutes and went into his room for about 2 hours. He came back out told my mom he was sorry. He never said a sour word to her again. He's been drug free since that day.
I haven't used any physical violence since then other than stopping a guy from mugging an older woman near the subway platform when I was 29. And frankly I felt bad about hitting my brother afterwards. Ever since then, we have gotten along great.
So yeah, while I'm a huge believer in quiet and calm discussion, I can see there are times in your life when you have to take a stand to protect those who cannot protect themselves.
Great commentary by Mrs. Miller. Kudos to her for sharing her story and her support of Urban.
I have tremendous respect for Kristina Miller. She is a courageous person and a good soul. Life is about learning, maturing and growing into the person that Jesus Christ wants us to be. Serious stumbles and circumstances that we don't ask for can come to anyone anytime, It's how we can walk with Him in these times of trouble with his protection and grace is what can see us through and make us better in His eyes going forward.
