Bunch of stupidity in all of this. Stupid by MLB and ESPN to take the tweet by Baumann for more than it was (a joke) and stupid by Bauer to "demand" a retraction.
They should have retracted it when asked.

ESPN would never run with a story based on unsubstantiated tweets.

Outrage over Twitter and ESPN?
Gonna be a fun week for sure.
I'm not around that much, running exhausted and lost...
It's Sunday, so the brass at ESPN are trying on new and used cock rings from Amazon.
Used ring may Kilauea. At the very least, one could wind up with macadamia nuts.
Hey Cancer! This ass kicking is brought to you by the Guernsey county mafia. Give it Hell 84!
Sports media reporting something as fact that without verifying, so it ain’t so.
Bauer has a very thin skin. He got really mad at an Indians beat writer for Cleveland.com back in 2016 when he said the Indians' WS aspirations died when Carasco got hit and injured and was out for the remainder of the season. Frankly, the resulting short pitching rotation probably did do the Indians in.
Personally, I like when players or people in general speak their mind rather than say the safe pc responses.
Bauer has a very thin skin.
That's why he should stop playing with drones.

They still made the extra innings of the 7th game of the world series. Clearly their WS aspirations did not die with Carasco's injury.
The first letter of ESPN stands for Entertainment. We need to stop expecting ESPN as a fair and balanced journalistic outlet.
I mean just type on google "ESPN fake news"
Its thousands of examples of actually tried and true fake news as we know it
No one should take anything on ESPN as anything more than The Onion in so far as news
There are no denials or statements from ESPN on any subject at all, they know
I'm pretty sure ESPN is Spanish for misinformation.

Not surprised here-they enjoy throwing shit out there and seeing what sticks like McMutt.
Enjoying daily the 62-39 ttun beatdown.
No shock, good for Bauer for calling out these connivers.
Now we know why Bill Belicheck and all great coaches/players etc, hate the media and ESPN for what they are.
Thank you Urban Meyer and Gene Smith
Exactly! Just be a scrooge to reporters like Belicheck, Saban, Popovach and even Haurbaugh. Speaking to the media does not get you any golden stars, but it can hurt you.
Added a pg word and was not thinking before I typed haha.
Meyer knew who this scumbag was when he said, "Who would write a story like that?"
He knew McDirtbag's reputation when he was at UF. He knew what a lowlife loser with no ethics McDirtbag was and is. So this was a message to him at B10 Media Days, and McDirtbag is trying to get back at Meyer and take him down.
Not going to work though. At the end of the day, Meyer keeps his job and McDirtbag has to work for an unknown sports website at the peak of his career. He's proven to be desperate. What a sad life he has and I bet his daughter wants to be nothing like him.
Give me a break. The Baumann tweet was *extremely obvious* satire, and Bauer getting bent out of shape over it is really stupid. If anyone were actually dumb enough to believe that the Baumann tweet was legit, that would be hilarious. There's plenty of reasons to shit on ESPN, but come on--Bauer needs to develop a sense of humor.
i feel like a hypocrite right now because I assumed rather looking up the story. It definitely is sarcasm and was pretty good haha.
Just because it is humor doesn't mean it is any less inappropriate. Humor can be worse because then what you're saying becomes an alibi, but people still come away being manipulated by a story.
It's used in politics all the time. Do you think when Donald Trump called Ted Cruz "lying Ted" wasn't a strategy to take him down?? Same goes "little Marco," etc. Howard Dean ring a bell? Humor is a serious tool used to manipulate the masses.
Anyone who was "manipulated" into thinking that Trevor Bauer had "begun a course of blood transfusions and colloidal silver to rid his body of CIA nanites" (bolding to emphasize absurdity) is a literal fucking idiot. Furthermore, in response to your political analogy, I would ask you this: what is at stake here? If someone believes a lie uttered by a politician and that affects their decision in the voting both, that's one thing. If someone believes, somehow, that Trevor Bauer is on the DL because he has "CIA nanites" in his bloodstream, what effect does that have, other than to provide a laugh for people who have a sense of humor?
I presume Bauer is upset because people ran it as news not because of the joke itself. There is a distinction.
Deserves got nothin' to do with it
Sure, but like I said--is he worried that anyone will actually believe it? It's obviously a joke on its face.
So we all agree we don't believe mainstream media? Ok cool.
The problem is that people believe whatever the media tells them. I know that this was in a joking matter, but you would be surprised by the amount of gullible people.
Sadly this seems to be the norm for ESPN and their hacks, putting stuff out there as fact without doing a single bit of confirmation and fact checking first!
Nicely done Seattle - not surprised one iota.
Go get'em Cal Poppy - we are behind you !!
It's not a rivalry .............. it's a wreckoning.
I miss Bobby Knight. No offense meant to all sports journalist. People complain about coach speak but watch this and you will get the point.
That is absolute gold, JGB!
Such a shame with Bauer. Great season and having him and Kuber are probably the main ticket where OSU has a shot in the playoffs. Just a tough brake for the guy, no pun intended. Having such a great season.
I don't think Bauer is going to affect OSU at all.
