I knew he was great but didn't know he was godly.
Somewhere a Wolverine fan is screaming that Winovich is better.
Well bless their little heart! It really sucks to be so bitterly disappointed!
I'd rather be an hour early than a minute late.
You mean the guy that flew like Jabrill Peppers when Billy Price blocked him?
Yep, That would be the one. Don't you just love airborne Wolverine defenders?
I have the iso in a tweet from a while ago. And All World Rashan Gary tackling air.

I mean Gary is really good, Winovich just simply isn't near his or Bosa's level.

It doesn't matter to me either way. Based off the eye test I think Bosa is more talented as is Gary. But, last year's statistics would say Winovich is the better player of the 3.
Tackles - 34
Solo tackles - 19
Assists - 15
Tackles for loss - 16
Sacks - 8.5
Forced Fumbles - 1
Tackles - 73
Solo tackles - 36
Assists - 37
Tackles for loss - 19
Forced Fumbles - 2
Tackles - 58
Solo tackles - 25
Assists - 33
Tackles for loss - 11.5
Sacks - 5.5

This is why I always tell people that stats don't always tell the whole story! You may want to go back and see how many snaps each of them played last season. Then correlate the above information to how effective each guy was per snap that they played? I mean I would venture to say that Winovich and perhaps Gary also didn't come out of the game much, definitely not nearly as much as Bosa who was rotating "behind" Hubbard and Lewis in a true four man rotation! I would argue with that snap count limitation you may find Bosa "statistically" was just as effective as either of them "when on the field"?
I would argue with that snap count limitation you may find Bosa "statistically" was just as effective as either of them "when on the field"?
That would make a better argument if you had those stats. Without it we can only go based off what we know.
LOL, that's why I said before making the argument Winovich is better "You" may want to get that info and compare. I am saying I have a suspicion that the snap count totals may show a different story than just the raw totals that u put up. I didn't make the original claim one was actually better than the other if you look at the numbers as you did, I was merely pointing out that the numbers you gave don't necessarily paint an Apple's to Apple's comparison.
So your right I could go find those snap count totals for all 3 and come back here and dispute the claim that baby Thor is better than Bosa if you look at said stats above...but I simply have other stuff to do than to take up however much time it would take to do that.
Conversely, I could just reply your original argument would hold much more water if you thoroughly researched and compared the 3 players in questions numbers in a more comparable scenario than just the raw totals which isn't a complete picture of their effectiveness??
Either way my argument is valid, and your argument was incomplete at best. I never said who was better either way which is the difference. I merely said I would bet with more info you may see that Bosa was just as effective. I wouldn't give you a definitive statement that one is better than the other unless I had looked and compared all the data. However, I still "think" Bosa is the better player, LOL.

I poked around prior to commenting and don't believe snap count statistics exist for individual college football players (only teams).

What leads you to believe that?

Those are all the stats that exist. We don't know snap counts. Even if we did, why would that show the guy with fewer snaps is better? More productive in limited situations/time, but If he overall was better why wouldn't he play more snaps? Maybe he's a pass rush specialist and doesn't play the run as well? But, it's not like he was injured at all or missed any time.
Either way my argument is valid, and your argument was incomplete at best.
That's all the data we have to go on.
I still "think" Bosa is the better player
Nothing wrong with thinking that. But, realize that it is an opinion based on your eye test and assumptions that are not backed up by any data. I agree that based on the eye test Bosa appears to be the more talented player of the two. I also think Gary is more talented than Winovich. But the most talented players aren't always the best. Or maybe Bosa & Gary get doubled teamed a bunch, who knows But, that is anecdotal evidence which as not as compelling as the data I supplied prior which supports Winovich being the better player and more deserving of the award.
I’ll take Bosa and LJ over Winovich Gary and Don Brown.
I don't think either one of these two guys will stack up statistically well against Chase Young, even, by the end of the season. Our defense is ridiculously loaded.
The only thing that's new in the world is the history that we have forgotten.
Most of them are upset that Bosa got the DL of the year and Gary didn't.
For some reason they think he is better than Bosa.
well, it will be determined upon the sacred turf of the ‘Shoe
and me thinks lil’ Bear will outshine Mr. Gary

No surprise here.
I am a little surprised that we only had 1 guy... I understand they have to spread the love, but I would expect to see at least a few other names potentially on this list, and plan on seeing them when the real list comes out in December/January. Dre'mont Jones, Michael Jordan, JK Dobbins, Kendall Sheffield/Okudah, and Jordan Fuller are all watch list guys for all conference/AA
^^^THIS^^^!!! I was shocked Michael Jordan was not on this list! Definitely think he will be by season's end! Others have a shot to make their way on this list but to me MJ not being listed was criminal!
Kevin - the PFT (maybe a typo?) link in the article comes back with Pro Football Focus...
I know this because I too am prepping for my Fantasy Football Machine.
I'm not around that much, running exhausted and lost...

What about Archie and Ray Griffin? Archie carried most of the water but there was soooooo much water.

Hmmm, one would hope so
They also tabbed Chryst as COY, which presumably means they like Wisconsin to win the B1G.
The Kirk Ferentz B1G COY Award has nothing to do with winning the conference.
I thought COY only came if you were 8-4????
You Got Barbecue Back There!?!?!?!
I hear what you are saying but I have to agree with these other guys. COY seams to go to any guys other than the actual best coaches in the country (Saban, Meyer, Sweeney) who have "surprisingly" great seasons! Just look at the BIG10 COY award, if Urban didnt get that coming into a team who the year before went 6-7 and in 2012 went undefeated, and if Urban wasn't COY in 2014 after winning the 1st ever CFP National Championship? I mean Com'on Man!
That family needs to have more kids
Don't sleep on Chase Young. I can see him being an All American by years end.
Could not agree more. Teams are going to realize real quick though that if they try to double team Bosa, Young might be even better than him... No disrespect at all to Tyquan, but Young is faster, stronger, and more violent. There is no way teams can devote 2 guys to Bosa. Both will put up huge numbers this year. Especially with a fresh rotation and Dre'Mont in the middle.
Convinced more each day that our DBs will be ranked quite high nationally at seasons end. Not only are they talented but the DL will absolutely dominate the LOS opponents’ backfields.
do we think there is a competition amongst the DL players on how many TFLs each can rack up?
Definitely deserved, a no brainer.
Urban Meyer left an incredible legacy. 12/4/18 Ryan Day begins his.
So then, even *ichigan people should be able to figure this out?!
They'll know when Shea Patterson has Bosa's cleat marks up and down his spine.
Slightly off topic it's a joke Cam Akers is getting way more preseason accolades than JK.
That's probably Weber's fault more than anything. FSU's second leading rusher graduated last year so Akers is going to have a much higher workload than Dobbins.
