This feels like an absurd amount of money to spend on what appeared on the surface to be a pretty straight-forward investigation.
I hope the independent committee does a thorough job and wraps this up as soon as possible.
And Toledo still sucks.
They have some (and rightly so) big name people running the investigation.... no matter what they come up with and decide I'd rather have it this way instead of calling Saul.
"Football is, after all, a wonderful way to get rid of your aggressions without going to jail for it." Woody Hayes
Just about to start season 3.
I don’t see it.
Hey higher ups, did Urban tell you about this in 2015. Yes.
OSU, just send me $100k and season tiks 4life
The ugly truth is often downvoted
Well it would be over for Urban, but it may not be over the higher ups, and that might be what is going on...
You left off a BUNCH of questions.. this whole thing is about WAY more than just Urban.. just a few in what I'm guessing is a list with at least 50+ type questions they'll want answered..
1.What did the compliance department do with the report in 2015.
2. Did Urban and or Zach make Gene aware of the 2009 incident during the 2012 hiring.
3. Did the compliance department know about the 2009 incident when they investigated the 2015 incident.
4. Why was Zach allowed to sleep in his office when it became obvious it wasn't a one off late work nigh thing...
5. Was Zach ever drunk/hungover on campus around students/players..
6. Did any player/student or coach ever feel uncomfortable around Zach on campus.
etc etc etc etc etc
Objection! Leading the witness!!!!!
I've disliked the tone of many of your posts on the matter, TCM, because I don't believe Meyer should loose his job. However I get the feeling if Meyer doesn't score A perfect 100% on his interview, he gone.
I hope to be alive for 50+ more years and will see 5+ more coaches if not more than that over those years. My concern is about my school. If Urban didn't turn a blind eye to Zach and reported 2015 by the book he'll be fine. If he did 2015 by the book and the blind-eye stuff is a little more gray area then he's going to pay for that on some level. I tend to think Urban is going to get suspended and they'll say he handle this poorly because of his relationship with Earle..
I also tend to think the decision on Urban was made before they even called these folks. The committee to me is about the school. A school I love. A school that it seems like a lot of people seem to forget got slapped with a failure to monitor less than 10 years ago. And it will crush me if something awful comes out of this mess that diminishes the school or the football program.
Every time I post it's about the school... what is going to protect or hurt my school.. I'm not worried about Urban. I'm worried that there seems to be a lot of dots connecting a bad guy, who clearly had home problems, who clearly has a drinking problem and who may or may not have been an abusive husband.. None of that sounds like a guy who should be around teenage players/students..some of them women..
Football coaches aren't perfect.... but I want my University to be or at least strive to be..
I get what you are saying, and readily agree about the Go Bucks!
If Urban is let go, due to having Zach Smith on his coaching staff....that being his mistake.....we know that no man can be perfect, so please tell me what candidate and assistant coaches, can Ohio State employ that could be perfect?
Seems like no man is qualified, so we take those that try and tear them down, that isn't the Ohio State way, either
I don't expect Urban to be perfect.. just human.. and I've said since the get-go if it turns out he covered for Zach and deep down knew he shouldn't be doing it that's about as human as it gets.. Something every one of us would have probably done. Plus, in all the chaos it's easy to forget Zach has been around Urban almost as long as Urbans son has been on this earth. Maybe even longer..
Even if you do the wrong thing for the right reasons anyone would do... you still have to pay cost for taking a chance on "family" and getting burned..
Tress is going to be the most perfect coach in my lifetime and he still goofed up ( again for the right reasons).. he's human.. it happens.. but thought he walked away and just owned it.. mad respect for him then and now and for the rest of my life.
I appreciate your point of view.
I know come Septmber, on Saturdays, I'm willing to cheer for a non perfect man attempt to lead a group of non perfect students in a game that they hope to perform perfectly.
My late sister's cancer doctor at the James, wasn't perfect, but he is a Buckeye, and I don't hold anything against him.
Most Buckeye fans look forward to fall football because Ohio State has been successfull for over 100 years......not because of the 5(?)perfect seasons. Good with the bad, as long as we know the next time we will give it our best.
Does the University allow Urban room to grow as a person?
That's my half assed thought, anyway.
That's funny the vest most perfect. He had many issues at YSU and probably other things here too. That dude has no chance for heaven. Sorry to jump off target here but that's funny.
Wow. You're entitled to your opinion, but unless Jim Tressel peed in your rose garden, your animus toward him is stupifying.
Thank you, George Dohrmann.
Substantive discussion here, about where standards fit in our imperfections and responsibilities in life. OH the times and ways we set a standard... for others. And... except ourselves... or declare this or that "isn't relevant".
One ancient view of consequences goes thusly: "judge not, let ye be judged. For in the way you judge, you shall be judged." The first sentence we use to escape judgment. The second we ...omit.
So, where did Urban set his standard fr his program? On that wall. What does it say? "Honesty & Integrity". IF we add our beloved University [now DIversity at UNIversity] we have already whatevered ourselves into 'justice by whatever i feel'. No place 'measures up' to H&I morals. It is a thing, not a person. When Tressel lied on paper certifying his compliance with rules, he failed to measure up to the standards AND everything after became part of that lie. Even in civil litigation the object is to 'make the victim whole'.
These are two great coaches, IMO. IF they are moral men, did they meet their own set standards? It seems clear...my wants and dodges and parsing notwithstanding. IF a moral man sets an additional standard of "no tolerance" based on his fundamental standards [H&I], then he first obligates himself to it, and that obligation is the basis of his authority to obligate those in his program. In Tressel's case his operating standard is a tad less clear: "everything is important" begs any equivocation or relationship question. But signing a compliance certification... leaves no place for the equivocations of discretion or loyalty...just tips those scales.
It was a tradition of men that the captain went down with his ship. An acceptance of responsibility foreign to the DIversity of weighs it's 'ok' to sink others in every way, but not Me in any way.
There are nice and tempting places and things, but... there is no recourse for the man who feels right in his own mind, for he is his own personal god. Pay attention to the pronouns covering The Person. They reveal and point to our nature and common situation. We're so ready to declare 'I'm only human' or 'nobody's perfect'...both of which leave us no excuse in recognizing The Creator.
Even a ban won't work... it but points to The Relevance that we all, already know.
Seeing as how HUMAN BEINGS aren't perfect, and the university is made up of human beings, no system ever devised by them will EVER be perfect. Who then is qualified to be a coach?
"Be a first rate version of yourself, not a second rate version of someone else." - Judy Garland
He does need to "score 100%" but if they don't ask all the questions and get all the answers (some of which may get "partial credit" if not "perfect"), they won't know if he's at 96%, or 80% or 62% or whatever, and they need to know how everyone else "taking the test" does as well - Gene, compliance dept, wtc.
Will add do you also interview grounds/maintenance department, event support staff management, security department and ask those people if they have ever hired a candidate to an Ohio State job opening that has any questionable resume items or omissions
How deep does it go?
Seems like the answer is -as deep as it needs to go, for some.
Hindsight is 20/20
My two cents. We were coming off the Tress mess. That first waive of hires should have been SPOTLESS. If they told Gene about 2009 there should have been an understanding that there was a zero tolerance policy moving forward. One strike and it's done. We're not Florida. We don't want to turn on the TV and find out you've hurt the schools reputation.
I'd apply the same standards to the grounds/maintenance department, event support staff management, security department...
People deserve second chances. Lots of good people get put in tough spots that can make their resume less than awesome. Doesn't mean they shouldn't be hired.
Tmc, I think your non-glove cavity search is a bit much!
7. Did Courtney beat up Zach and try to kill him with her car?
8. How much money can we all make "investigating" this thing?
9. What's my favorite color?
I see so your one of these bozo's who thinks that what Zacks mom and his exwife's mom had to say about his exwife doesnt matter...
You WIN with people.
You forgot, Courtney, What affect do you think you suffered by the university along with Urban by Zack being employed by them and why are you cautiously optimistic about it's outcome?
Last I saw Mueller’s investigation was at $24 million. I know not quite the same thing, but still. In accord with site policy, I offer no opinion on this one way or the other.
You are entitled to you own opinion, not your own facts.
Agreed, not only "not quite the same" - but different by orders of magnitude in numbers of witnesses, subjects, targets, occurrences, documents, geographical sites, investigators, lawyers, forensic specialists (and others), and especially, in scope, given the ultimate existential import of what's being investigated. That price tag is likely to go much higher given the average such investigation goes 904 days - though a couple well-known others went roughly 2500 and 3000 days, and this one, including pre-Mueller investigation, is currently at roughly 730 days. By those standards what's happening now in Columbus barely registers in time and cost.
As usual, the only winners in all of this are the lawyers. They win no matter who wins. They get their $$$$ the longer it drags out.
Honestly, that's less than I was expecting.

Considering the stakes and what large organizations pay for legal services, that's about in line. I consider it well spent. OSU athletics is a $100M business.

Here come my down votes... If UFM is gone... I am a Notre Dame fan and excited to see him crush OSU and remind them of what they lost. Bonus question, given how ambiguous this is, how many offers has his agent already lined up? If OSU suspends him he should threaten to go and demand a pay raise or jet imo.
If I was UFM and they handed me a suspension I would just say no. They can't enforce it. If he leaves even after they clear him they will he viewed as having royally botched the handling of this and the AD and pres will be out.
Buckshots... in case you have amnesia.
If UFM is gone... I am a Notre Dame fan and excited to see him crush OSU and remind them of what they lost.
Don't let the door hit you on the way out. Ohio State is bigger than Urban Meyer.
Ohio State Engineering - Class of 2015
Ohio State is certainly bigger than Urban Meyer. Ohio State is also bigger than a handful of administrators, should they make a poor decision that defies facts and is done to appease the media and PR. My hope is that they release all the facts and make a fair decision based off those facts.
Guys, they are not going to fire him. Relax.
Is that a lot?

Are you sure about that... with some of the lunatic fringe OSU fans... if you ended up finding out something wrong... would you really want your name associated with Urban being fired, or OSU getting some sort of probation(because Urban did report it and the admin failed)....
This is a true story... I was on the buckeye cruise for Cancer 2-3 years ago. I was in the gym in the middle of the day... after I finished lifting I went to get on the elliptical, and the only 2 people in the gym, were me, Urban and Robert Smith.
Robert Smith was on an elliptical 2 machines down from me, and I was just chugging along, and urban comes and gets on a tread mill to walk...
He got on it immediately and started walking within 5 seconds.. .but he had sunglasses, some iphone/ipod and something else... He bent down to set them down on the floor(remember the machine is 6-8 inches higher than the floor... He stumbles and almost falls... I freak out for a second and look at Robert, who was not paying attention... another minute later he decides to set his hat down on the ground and stumbles really bad.... At that point... I got off my machine and left... I knew that if I was in that gym and urban fell and got hurt... Robert Smith would not be blamed for not intervening.. it would be me... and the small minority of our fans who make up the lunatic fringe would hunt me down and kill me... True story, and I did leave for that reason.
side note, I still think Shelly Meyer is one of, if not the most impressive person I have ever met.
I think you're nuts. Anyone needing help should be offered help, and I never, in a hundred years, would even think of how him hurting himself would affect me. Never.
I agree, with extra "wtf?". How is "if Urban slips and falls on that treadmill, I'm going to get blamed for it" the first place someone's mind goes? That whole line of thinking makes no sense.
There is a reason OSU had to plant security dressed in oppossing fan gear, after all the crap that happened during the texas game.
Plus you may not have been on the internet forums during the Cooper era.. were death threats were a weekly occurence.. and that was just for the people who would try to support him....
I'll do it for double that amount .We hire them ,then split the profits...
Say... are you by any chance a government contractor?
In some circles...yes. Others....no.

Justice delayed is justice denied....#FTP
I don't know what's required to sue a "reporter" in a case like this, but given the fact that McMurphy's original article has already been proven to contain several falsehoods that he has edited out, I really hope they can sue him.
"reporter"... he posted it on Facebook.. and you still would have to prove he lied in his post.
And "incomplete," "shoddy work" and "mean-spirited" are all different from "lying."
There's a thread(s) here highlighting edits that McMurphy has made without even noting that he has edited his story. This is a flat out lie from the original story he wrote: Smith,... was arrested Oct. 26, 2015 on felony counts of domestic violence and felonious assault against Courtney Smith.
He merely "misspoke"... or "miswrote"...
It's not a lie to edit your work if your source is a liar.. Should he have vetted her better. YES.. but you would have to have proof that when he typed on facebook he knew that there were holes in the story.. I just don't think that's the case and don't think there's any way you can prove it..
He had a rager for OSU, got a scoop and ran with it to get it posted as fast as he could... then as it got picked apart he edited.. shoddy, crapy journalism for sure... but that's not lying.. which you would need to prove for a lawsuit..
Not according to all the media and mob types that cite Urbans response at B1G media days.

And that is the most astute insight of this topic! Cheers!
Why is this investigation taking so long? I feel like we should've heard something by now.
At $1620 an hour, who is in a hurry?
The average American worker spends 10 min a day on the clock in the bathroom.
That's a 270 dollar dump.
That's an impressive dump! And we have seen some good one's here on 11W!
Reminds me of bankruptcy attorneys. The stacks of paperwork I have laying around from those guys is ridiculous.
If I was charging $1,620 an hour I'd take the full 14 days too
The Life Of PABLO
i would work nights and weekends
$500k/$1620per hour = 308.6 hours
308.6 hours = 12.86 days (24 hours per day).
To hit 500k the investigators would have to only take Sundays off...and not even all of the two Sundays.
It appears the $1620 per hour is per person.
If you continue to think what you always thought, you will continue to get what you always got. #AlumforStaff
The $1620 is likely just the partner in charge. The packers doing most of the legwork likely bill a lot less. You know, like maybe only $500 or so. A real bargain.
That's just the hourly rate :) Still would have expenses.. you can bet they aren't bringing in chipotle...
A lot of law firms have minimums for a task . . . like, every email they read gets billed individually at a minimum of 3 minutes (even if it only took 15 seconds to see "this email is Urban's lunch order"). A lawyer can bill over 24 hours over an 8 hour day if they play their cards right.
Not sure if that's the billing structure allowed here, but it wouldn't shock me.
The hourly rate charged by Debevoise & Plimpton is not to exceed $1,620,
That's about the going rate for labor at a Mercedes maintenance shop.
I'll wager the investigative team renders its findings orally so they can't be FOIA'ed or subpoenaed. That's what they did at Baylor.
Winning is a habit. Unfortunately, so is losing.
Half a million caused by irresponsible “journalism.”
You spelled "Facebook posting" wrong.

Irresponsible journalism and paid for by the taxpayers. Thanks Brett, you’re a real gem. Maybe someone should start digging into Brett’s personal life. Karma’s a real bitch.
Yeah so when it comes to budgeting for attorneys, I don't really want to tell them up front how much im willing to spend.
Not that I have anything against attorneys, mind you. ..its not my business what a person does for a living, you understand. ..just as long as their interests don't conflict with mine.
Where have i heard that before?
It. Is. Time.
But it's government - the rules probably say you have to set a "Not to exceed" amount.
Thats pretty much standard on T&M contract. Rates are set for each labor category with a not exceed amount. They can always amend if more is needed.
Strive at all times to bend, fold, spindle and mutilate.
Take that tax payers.
Should bill Courtney
The Hermans would take care of it.
That’s ridiculous. $500k for this? Are they going to spend that much on every investigation involving a public employee or just the football coach?
TBF, they could be making a $30M decision regarding Coach Meyer’s employment. Half a million is insurance that they get it right.

No kidding. ...they could at least spit on it first.
Seems about right Two week investigation with dozens if not more witnesses and other expenses like possible travel to Florida.
$500K is peanuts because at the end of the day this about protecting The Ohio State University. Can't put a cost on that imo..
Will be glad when it's over.
Gainesville FL - I bet the investigator who has to go there will wish Zach interned in Hawaii or San Diego.
What an absolute waste.
Rather they spend $500,000 than $38,000,000.
I think this is the point though. They’re desperate for cause. Urban is gone if they think they have it. May be gone either way. Seems like the outcome was predetermined. Just trying to appease the media. Fuck all this.
Looks that way to me, too. Going to be a long season, I'm afraid.
I honestly don't think there is a predetermined outcome. If they get rid of him they'll want to be able to justify it to the fan (donor) base as well as keep as much of the $38 million as they can, and if they keep him, they'll want the ammunition to answer the critics, the most important of whom would be donors and other revenue providers who don't what their money going to a "tainted" organization. $500,000 is chump change when it comes to protecting the image of a major corporate entity.
It doesn’t matter if they spent 500k or 500 flat. The critics would never accept an outcome where Urban keeps his job. So the money can only be for termination.
Of course you won't satisfy the critics. They need to teach the people who might otherwise listen to the critics.
The hourly rate charged by Debevoise & Plimpton is not to exceed $1,620, per Smola.
What a great time to be a lawyer.
Pffft. They'll burn thru that $500K by the end of this week.

Unfortunately there are lots of people outside the Buckeye fan base who listen to the talking heads who don't share that opinion.
Its supposed to be a legitimate investigation, not a mini series for bored housewives.
I would have lawyered the hell out of that investigation for a lot less than $500k.
You're a fake lawyer though. These are real lawyers.
My prices are fake compared to theirs that’s for sure
my consulting and research services are a lot less expensive on the hour -let's say 10% of the 1620 figure
Yes, I too am feeling very "cheap" at $300 an hour.
All that coin over a drunk and his crazy ex-wife... just sad all the way around. I’m beginning to care less about the outcome and more about getting this over with so I can get excited about football again, no matter who the coach is.
"Because we couldn't go for three"
So, the woman who's leading the investigation, Mary Jo white, is a partner at Debevoise & Plimpton, the law firm that will be billing OSU at a rate of $1,620.00/hour, with a maximum budget of 500k. I predict this investigation will require 308.641975 hours of billable time by Ms. White's firm.

What the heck, is this a farce of a collusion investigation where they find charges completely unrelated to the issue at hand and spend a crap load of cash for no reason? This "investigation" should literally take eight hours and be done.
I think we can rule out "farce" since this is unlikely to involve stained dresses or any place near the shores of Tripoli.
What a huge waste of money. This whole thing has been media driven. If it was another university and another coach the story would have lasted 5 minutes.
Bucks fans in Mass
What a waste of money.
One thing is for sure, when the 500k runs out this thing will wrap up so fucking quick it’ll make your head spin!!
They better get the outcome right.
Talk to Zach, Urban, Gene, the Sheriff, The Highway Patrol, and the Powell Police - Free. Talk to CS - 500K. You will need a team of lawyers to protect OSU's ass over potential frivolous charges (Hey if someone can win a case for millions over McDonalds for hot coffee, anybody can win). When this is done, they will create an investigation team to investigate the costs of the investigation team.

Tulane's AD should get fired, he agreed to get booed by 100,000 in Columbus for less than Debevoise & Plimpton LLP
Mary Jo White scares me: Richardson - gone; Bountygate - Boom Payton suspended; Zeke - suspended (on less evidence than this case). She seems to come in and lay a legal groundwork to justify railroading these athletic celebs.
In Zeke's case I thought the investigation didn't recommend punishment of any kind and the NFL said "yeah, were going to suspend him anyway"

No, he actually has a full head of hair covering two conjoined heads. That's why he's so smart.
I just wanna know... does he have to stand on his tippi-toes to kiss his wife?
Wait they are brothers? I always thought it was a father and son... so confused...
For 500 large I want the facts and I want them post haste. Lets get this thing done correctly one way or the other. Git r dun.
This Saturday, Urban will be back on the practice field and a bunch of folks will be laughing their asses off as they figure out what to do with the $500 K wind fall ..... What a joke - someone should send McMurphy a bill for his role in lighting the match on this pile of money ...
I think the investigation will be done in two weeks. Then they have to report to the trustees. None of the trustees will want to "ruin their weekend", so it will be reported the next week. Then the trustees will have to deliberate. Then they will have to schedule in advance so journalists can make it. Don't hold your breath for Saturday.
For $1 I’ll tell the committee what they need to know: Zach Smith is a dirtbag who never should have had a job. Case closed.
TCM 1968, this is exactly where I am coming from! I hope that our University survives with its integrity in tact. Anybody can coach, it takes a coach with integrity to win with honor, preach what you teach. That promise on the wall about respecting women needs to be more than just words. I have always wondered if Urban really means what he says. I am seeing someone that is usually careful with his words slip up a bit. Keeping secrets and living a double life will usually do that. Seeing the cracks. It is hard to see our great school have its hands tied by a guy that knows how to wiggle out of things. Only time will tell. No one person is greater than the Ohio State University! #GoBucks!
That was a boatload of speculative nonsense. Please come back and eat the crow that will surely be yours when this is over. Urban has some egg on his face for his handling of the B1G Media Day and will pay a hefty fine and perhaps a couple games of suspension. The more we find out about the "The Smiths" the more it is clear that theirs was a very toxic and manipulative marriage by both parties. That is not sufficient cause for firing a man or woman from a job. Period. Until Law enforcement has repeated occasions to intervene and file charges.
That was a boatload of speculative nonsense

I get that you want the media narrative to be Ohio State has integrity. But that is not a characteristic that the media gets to bestow upon us. Seriously, they don't operate with integrity--the measure of success for media businesses is to get people to click things so they get paid. Urban operates this program with a level of focus and discipline that I marvel at. So one guy keeps secrets from him about his terrible marriage and your faith in our program falls apart. Your faith should be made of sterner stuff. And the administration better have enough damn backbone to stand strong and tell the world that OSU isn't subservient to rumors and innuendo.
Reinstate the coach

Let the Smith's have their drama in court
Got bad news for ya: I don’t think Urban is going to survive this. The media wants a certain result and they’re going to get it.
I've got good news for ya. Urban is not going to get fired because of a bunch of idiots in the media. OSU is going to win the national championship with Uban at the helm. And this is the difference between an optimist and a pessimist.
The media is not God. The American People have in poll after poll labeled them untrustworthy. The media is looked down upon. They do not have the power they enjoyed 20 years ago.

I'd like to make $1600 an hour. Does this crack team have a newsletter I can sign up for?
Debevoise & Plimpton will bill every bit of that they can - I am sure the max rate quoted is what that lead partner actually bills at and they do not work alone, wouldn't be surprised if it was that partner, two or three more, a half dozen associates, and a bunch of flunkies pushing - just keep in mind that max rate for one person at full engagement for two weeks is around 130k by itself.
Wahoo! Wahoo! Rip, Zip, Bazoo! I Yell. I Yell. For O.S.U.
I'm sorry that society has degenerated to the point that Urban Meyer has to go through this at the expense of his reputation and our university and that the university does not seem to have the balls presently to stand up and bitch slap* politely rebuke the media into what used to be called "common" sense.
Self Edit: *Politically Incorrect use of late 90's hot-button colloquial phrasing...We're watching you, Mister!
I'd feel a lot less concern if she hadn't found in favor of the prosecution in every single case she's ever investigated. Including ones with very little evidence of wrongdoing.

How is this going to play out?
Are we expecting a Press Conference this Friday w Pres Drake MD or will we get a PR from tOSU that Urban is reinstated immediately and suspended first 2 games of the season for inaccurate statement to B10 Media?
Press conference by Drake terminating Urban Meyer’s contract, unfortunately. I’m about 76.8% sure of that.
Place your bet then! You can make some nice coin in Vegas betting that.
That is a strangely specific number.
What about the committee donates two weeks of their high priced time and OSU take the $500,000, adds more to it and donates the total to the various agencies that actually are making a difference for women, children and men that are at risk for abuse both mental and physical...! Of course, that story would not get the same number of clicks.. :(
We didn't lose the game.. we just ran out of time. Vince Lombardi
I use to do investigations that involved people dying do to people’s reckless actions for $29.00 an hour. And I never lost a case against the ones making over a $1000.00 . They will make their decision based upon a police officer making $45 K a year report. What a waste. Being PC is very expensive!
Whatever happens I’d like to see the 90 year old woman out in front of the cameras explaining the findings that exonerate Meyer while the press asks questions that she can’t seem to answer because she intentionally left out her hearing aid.
That would be my out.
Its important that we all understand the facts and then deal with them. Lots of serious accusations being thrown around on this topic.
No doubt tOSU will do the right thing once all facts are gathered.
Put Tom Sussi on the case! He can uncover some food violations along the way.
It makes sense to me. And I don't think this 500,000 means they are trying to find a way to avoid $38,000,000. To me, it means they know they have to have a rock solid investigation because this isn't going to stop when they make a decision. MrMurphy isn't going to stop digging, and neither are other reporters. They will try to find things that the investigation did not. I made this point a week or so ago. The hardest part with reinstating Meyer, will be making sure you are 110% confident with the investigation, to make certain that some Joe Blow reporter doesn't find a hidden piece of information that makes the investigators look like Asshats.
I personally think Urban survives this (like many in the media now believe), but you'd be crazy to think McMurphy doesn't book a flight to Cbus the instant after it happens. That is the only path in which this goes from an Zach/Urban/Gene issue, to a Ohio State University issue. And that is not what we need. Hope the investigators due their diligence.
Elliott dots the eye, on this national championship win.
I agree they won't stop looking. However, Urban will never be more of the ant getting fried by the sun through a magnifying glass than he is right now. I also agree he survives this, but will be somehow sanctioned for something that will probably be largely BS but puts him 'on notice'. Let's just get on with it....it's exhausting.
Agree with that statement. Don't like making negative predictions, but I don't think OSU has the stones to reinstate him with a clean slate. Suspension, Donation, and classes is my guess.
to make certain that some Joe Blow reporter doesn't find a hidden piece of information that makes the investigators look like Asshats.
Mary Jo White prosecuted John Gotti and dealt with his mafia lawyers. Seriously doubt they will get hoodwinked by a dumbass like McMurphy. One has to think there is a LOT to this investigation that nobody is seeing or being made public. Too much money on the line.
If I was McMurphy, I don’t think I’d be visiting the state of Ohio anytime soon
Wouldn't it be ironic if he disappeared at the same time that they planted a new tree in the Buckeye Grove to celebrate another Ohio State All-American? The tree would probably be healthy as it would have a lot of fertilizer feeding it.
So, based on where things seem to be headed, I'd bet we know where this ends by Friday. I'm staging a certain bottle of scotch that's been, well........ set aside for a special occasion. I can't wait for the smooth taste of reinstatement after this craziness.
Friday at 4:30 is almost certain imo. No good in making it the first headline of a Monday morning regardless.
God damn, the Attorney General himself has been pulled into this? Nice going McAsshole. Way to turn a toxic marriage into a federal conspiracy, courtesy of Urban Meyer. I hope when this is all said and done every dollar spent on the budget will have to be paid by McMurphy.
the Attorney General himself has been pulled into this?
the Attorney General himself has been pulled into this?
It's the Ohio Attorney General (Mike DeWine), not the United States Attorney General (Jeff Sessions). Ergo, this is entirely a state issue.
Well, no worries then. Sessions has been pretty much useless his entire tenure.
They should've just donated that $500K to the Smith's marriage counseling. Is this circus over with yet?
Some show up to play the game, others show up to win the game.
Dear 11 Warriors, will you please remove all pictures of Courntey Smith? Pleeeeease????!!!!
This may have been answered before, although I can't seem to find an answer on other message boards or in any of the 10,000,000 articles/facebook posts/tweets. If the abuse (will not mention her name...gag reflex) that she claimed was that bad, would the police have involved CPS at any point? I know that the kids weren't abused, but since they were involved to some extent, would CPS have been made aware?
This is all way too gray for me to be able to end a guy's career.
Brett McMurphy is the reason the phrase " Fake News" thrives.
A while back there was the thread "who leaves first Harbaugh or Urban." Do you think this ordeal sours Urban enough to make him the front runner? Assuming the decision isn't made for him, I have to believe that during this downtime he's asking himself if he really needs this crap.
How many students could attend OSU this year tuition free if that 500k was re purposed for something valid like an education. That's more money than some people make in a lifetime and that money is based on a bunch of he said, she said garbage that is somehow tied to our coach and his responsibilities? You got to love America guys and gals.
