Yep. Every employee with a domestic violence complaint should have to release it, no?
HOW SHOULD THE MEDIA EAT CROW?
Zone6, with rotating WR's, will have 1000+ yards at all 3 WR positions this season
... but, they won’t.
How should the media be forced to eat crow?
Right out of McMurphy's...
I saw Ryan Day hang 62 on Michigan...His hair was perfect.
Go Buckeyes Beat Michigan
Better chance of monkeys flying outta my butt than the media admitting they did anything wrong.
If Urban survives they'll just report that the investigation by Ohio State was biased and glossed over.
Nope, the narrative is already turning towards us "winning at all costs."
I guess there's only one thing left to do...
You're too stupid to have a good time. -Dalton
How about Espn with the headline- "Urban Meyer: 'Failed' in denying I heard allegations." How can a title that badly written be made? Did the writer state that he/she heard allegations and Urban Meyer failed to deny them?
It's written to mean that in denying the allegations, he failed. As in, failed to live up to his core values. Still a terrible headline and obviously phrased to fit the narrative they've been putting out. That's what it means, though.
Okay that makes a lot more sense
I thought the same thing Gmac
"Mongo only sausage in bowl of soup"
How can a title that badly written be made?
It's Friday night in a newsroom. Apart from on-air talent, no one there but interns and reprobates.
And on-air is just running with the copy that was written before the Meyer/Smith news broke.
BTN walking back the rhetoric substantially.right now. Legal departments working overtime?
Well, Baylor scored 60 and rolled, and Ohio State scored 60 and escaped Illinois.
We're not out of the woods yet, this post is a little premature.
"porque las estirpes condenadas a cien años de soledad no tenían una segunda oportunidad sobre la tierra."
Bleacher report, Detroit Free Press, USA Today, ESPN. All blasted Urban over this.
What was that one ESPN Article? Something like "As times have changed, Urban Meyer hasn't" ? GTFO!
The table is set for the media.....
Enjoying daily the back to back ttun beatdowns.
Wait you think the media is going to back off this? Hahahaha that’s cute. This is going to be an us vs them mentality all season for Ohio State players, coaches, fans, students, and university. Shut everyone out, shut up, and play football.
No, I know it won’t because it still has delusions of grandeur in thinking what it says matters to normal people. That’s why I said “Let’s have some fun.” Calm down before you have an aneurysm.
Unfortunately Brunstar, the “media” is going to win this bout. It’s just a matter of time before Urban and Smith are gone. I don’t agree with it, but it’s just a matter of time.
2x account suspension survivor
Well they will eventually retire, yes.
Oh, they're not going to eat crow, they're just going to work harder to make Courtney Smith a bigger victim than McButtMunch could have ever dreamed of.

Urban straight up lied about the whole thing. I don’t think he deserves an apology. He turned this into a shit show.
I don't believe in no-win scenarios
"Most Noahs have two of everything, he's got four tonight" - Gus Johnson on Noah Brown's 4 TD catches against Oklahoma.
If he had told the truth about passing the info on, none of this would be happening. Zach Smith would still be gone and Gene Smith would be facing the pressure.
Fuck the media.
I have a few suggestions but I might get banned for too much uhhh...creativity.
I rarely read Twitter but I got linked up to a few media asshats (McMurphy and Cowherd) and those two got me coal fired!
Thankfully, I can vent the steam here.
$85 is worth every penny to be a 12th Warrior
Dont think about it just do it
Twitter requires 2 drinks per tweet read. (maybe 3 tonight)
"Year for what?"
I've got a bottle of Macallan 18 that I am saving for when Urban is back in the saddle. It was for another occasion but this one trumps it...lol.
Finally, someone sticking up for Urban. It’s been damn hard to find. Even our former players and the local (Ohio St) media hacks.
What do you think is the purpose behind this tweet? And which local media do you think tweeted this?
I’m not sure of the purpose ... like the intern sent that letter? Confusing. Who retweeted it?
Very cryptic. Not sure how that is relevant.
Thought it was common knowledge that most of these Twitter accounts for Coaches and other prominent figures are handled by someone else? Isn't that the case? I don't do the Twitter thingee personally, so I am just going by what my understanding was.
Maybe it was a joke? Albeit a bad one. Or maybe he was making fun of the person that sent the original tweet for being naive. Who sent the original Tweet?
Seems odd to me too. Almost like a shot at Urban's integrity
I genuinely don't understand the point of the bump tweet.
Is it simply throwing shade?
Is it a passive aggressive assertion that Urban is so out of touch he doesn't send his own tweets?
Is he saying Urban is so smug he paid a staffer to tweet his statement?
Is he saying someone was paid to write his statement? If so, that's true. His lawyer did, or at the very least approved every word.
Seems he has been throwing lots of shade this week.
Stay golden, Ponyboy.
He also claimed he wrote around zach smith for years ... so there is that ..
"To The House"
So he knew about Zach Smith? Why not come forward??? Could it be for the same reason OSU didn't? No hard evidence? Wow, imagine that.
I genuinely don't understand the point of the bump tweet.
I'm pretty sure he's throwing shade.
It seems to me that he thinks how Ohio State and Urban is handling this is "gross":
Personally, I think he's jumping to conclusions.
Other then #4...is 1-3 bad when there wasn’t an arrest, and it’s he said she said? A PIP is exactly what you do to get manage out an employee...however...I don’t know if that personal stuff would/could be included since it’s not directly job related. You could put in something about absenses/tardiness, but you can’t even mention alcohol abuse.
1-3 make sense.
4 makes more sense after listening to yesterday's radio show.
I have my reasons, but my perspective is a little different than his, and that makes neither of us right or wrong.
So did Urban steal Ramzy's girl, or... ? I mean this is getting ridiculous. Isn't he a mod/staff here? How?
Nothing wrong with questioning the situation - but he really seems to be jumping to conclusions.
I really feel like OSU needs to do a better job sticking up for its own. The Arizona basketball coach is on an FBI tap trying to pay recruits.
Maybe that's too far, but people arent standing up for Urbs for a criminal report (not conviction or charge) on an assistant 3 years ago. He's done so much for the state and university. Stick up for the man when shots are fired.
But, sadly, Gene and Drake don’t strike me as having big sets of balls.
I’m Jeff, and I approve this message.
Andy Geiger did
This concerns me as well.
Poor, poor Doug:
People all over him for nailing Urban to the turf?
MOMMY!!!! He hurt my fweelings.
For real...the members of the media have no problem raking people's lives through the mud, but the minute it's turned on them, they are innocent little sheep.
What many media members fail to recognize is the bonds and friendships these coaches form with fellow coaches, coaches wives, their kids, etc. Those media members expecting Meyer to reveal all or blast Smith simply do not know the brotherhood or they have forgotten it in the desire to break a story. I am sure the Smiths attended many dinners at the Meyers’. I am sure Meyer was a role model to Smith. Meyer had to fire him. That stings. A failure. A kick in the nuts. He was probably second guesing himself and evaluating the impact on Smith’s life...like the forever impact. Now throw bright lights and a microphone in your face.
Urban messed up, but do you know how many media members mess up and no one chases them down or camps out in their yard. They basically bend the truth daily in hot pursuit to break a story online before getting the facts.
As the son of a former high school coach I can confirm this is true. My assumption is that the bonds are tighter at the college level because the community is so much smaller. In the history of football, no college coach has ever lied or mis-spoke to a reporter when asked a question he was not prepared to answer, right. Trial by twitter does not have an adequate appeals process. Suck it scribe or learn balance.
Our people are everywhere, Esto Dignus.
Did anyone on Columbus radio support Urban in the least? Rothman, Common Man? Carpenter, Hawk, Laurinitis?
Did anyone on Columbus radio support Urban in the least? Rothman, Common Man? Carpenter, Hawk, Laurinitis?
Not sure it matters anymore. News writers CONTROLLED the message not so long ago. Now the best they can do is guide it.
And with hundreds of thousands of nano-reporters (fans/commenters), the really rank establishment reporters get found out and exposed fairly soon.
The media is overzealous and Urban admitted to lying at a press conference. But sure, let’s throw stones at the media. I think it’s pretty early to sling mud in any direction. The blind support from this fan base is a bit disgusting to me. The same fan base that still blasts Penn State fans for their blind support of Paterno. Just say less. Let this play out rather than put yourself on the wrong side in hindsight.
Not blind support. Many are complaining about those who are calling for our coach to be fired without the facts. This has been a one sided frenzy to hang him and it's vastly different than Penn State.
It’s a fine line between arguing against premature firing and blind support. Administrative leave is that fine line. In my opinion, there’s a lot of people taking one side or the other. Perception is reality. Speaking objectively, the OSU fan base looks like it’s blindly supporting Urban. Right or wrong, I don’t see many defending Urban who don’t have OSU ties. Probably because the sensible ones who err that way know better than to publicly support him without knowing everything.
According to the media and public opinion, everyone involved are already guilty. No one ever waits for due process anymore, if someone is accused of anything, they are guilty until proven innocent.
Good thing they’re not the ones doing the internal investigation then, huh?
Once again, comparing this to Sandusky/Paterno is so disgustingly gross and asinine I truly feel sorry for your cognition skills and upbringing.
"I find your lack of kalua disturbing" - Darth Lebowski
If you’d like to read that again, I compared the fan base reaction to allegations against a coach. I could compare the actual events to what happened at Baylor, albeit on a lesser scale. But I didn’t.
Coach is accused. Fan base refuses to believe coach could’ve done something wrong. Seems similar to Penn State when you put it that way, right?
Coach is accused. 100 percent guilty without even having all the evidence in the case yet. Seems similar to almost every incident in the social media era, right?
If Urban did in fact lie and there is 100 percent evidence in the matter, he should be punished. To this point, nothing that was been posted so far is definitive enough for Urban to be fired.
If you owned a company and your best employee was all over the news as an alleged criminal, would you not cover your ass? Or just go all in with an advertising campaign? “Here at Gmac44135, we employ *murderers”.
Yea, maybe it’s a knee jerk reaction, but you can’t take the PR hit by not suspending pending investigation. There’s exceptions to everything, but generally speaking, people who do the right thing don’t get accused (falsely or not) of these things. Sort of like nothing good happening after 10:00 PM.
Chris Hardwick was recently cleared of abuse allegations. He probably knew his ex was trouble and he would’ve been better off to get away from her sooner. Maybe (definitely) the social climate has swung too far in that direction, but that’s kinda how a correction happens.
According to Paul Finebaum, Courtney looks like a victim so she is telling the truth. I am glad he is not a judge because he would be sending a lot of innocent people to prison based off how they look and not by evidence.
He's a sideshow act.
Exactly. Plus, to his knowledge, there was no b police report or charge. He should have answered it better but you don't publicly talk about that stuff in such situations.
Yep. Urban was trying to protect a family from just this sort of media circus, but some asshat media types aren't bright enough to recognize that. I used to work with the media on a regular basis and my team viewed them like vermin, because we saw them turn into spineless predators who would eat their own family if it got them the next story.
Hopefully after this BS is settled and Meyer is reinstated he will blackball these media guys from attending any OSU events.
Especially the local guys. They don't even want to wait for the facts anymore. Just create news to get clicks.
Let's see how well their stories do when Urban pulls their press passes.
The media is going to go in harder on Meyer now than ever. They are going to write hit piece after hit piece tearing him to shreds.
Seems everyone hates the media when it comes to politics and loves them when it comes to nailing college football programs and coaches
There will likely be a few cease and desist letters from Meyer attorneys that will slow that train.
Already seen tweets from most Florida sports writers, Finebaum, some chick named Nicole Auerbach, McMurphy, Mandel...pretty much everyone of the national media ripping him and OSU to shreds...It is going to get worse before better.
There is nothing these crybabies hate more then when it looks like theyre not going to get their way. It's going to be 100X harder to fire Urban if he reported the incident.
The media can eat crow anytime of any day of any season. If I watch a game on ESPN or any sports channel Im turning the volume off so I dont have to listen to any more of their idiotic blathering.
That’s what I do. The ONLY time I watch ESPiN is if an OSU football or basketball game is on. Then I mute it and put Paul Keels on for the play-by-play instead.
I think the talking heads and news cycle ran too far with the story but the opinion people pushed it too far.
The reporter did turn up information. With a free press and free speech that is what it is. The information in it was true, but apparently incomplete. Other reporting failed because they did not try and dig deeper at all. I would also say the University dropped the ball on this too.
Keep in mind, this is not really over and the reporting may lead to big issues occuring still. We do not know yet. It seems like Meyer is probably in the clear but that is all we really know at the moment. And even that clear is a bit questionable. It still matters what he knew and what went into the choices made not to fire ZS based on what was known at the time.
We are looking at all the evidence in retrospect with things that for sure were not all available at the time. But that is not always easy to separate unless somebody is trying. That said, the evidence was fairly damning and if Urban knew but said nothing he was in trouble either way. Be in violation of law, policy or just general morality. The University would have grounds to fire him for any of them.
They still would in some respects, unless the University decided to pass down that there was not enough evidence to fire him. And then the call was made at that point. People would still question but it would at least be legit. It would still end up hurting hte University in many respects that people are ignoring.
It's time for Gene to shut it down. Anyone know who has more money on the line, tOSU or media companies? If we cut them off, then who loses more? If we have contracts that require appearances, then the gloves should come off. There should be three answers and only three given to the media: yes, no, and/or no further comments. Those are the three options.
The media will double down on the accusations, pushing the "lie" to the media last week and pushing the narrative that Meyer protected a known wife beater.
My phone is been on the fritz. What's all this hub bub about?
Buckeye born, Buckeye bred,
and when I die, I'm gonna beat the shit out if Bo Shembechler
I was hoping to provide an outlet for some humor, but you're not having any fun!
Really like Pete Thamel. His stuff is just good reporting.
What does Urban Meyer's statement mean? A legal analysis, including this from Stu Brown: "Meyer and Ohio State are in a much better position to resolve the matter with some type of mutual acceptance of responsibility." https://t.co/zbFrgL9B66
— Pete Thamel (@PeteThamel) August 4, 2018
But let's not be delusional about it. I was listening to something recently (hard to remember what, with all the fire storm...promise it wasn't one of the dumb threads we have going) which said something to the effect "UFM and OSU probably came to an understanding of what 'administrative leave' means. It will be interesting to see if UFM has a public thing to say soon. If the administrative leave permit it, maybe he'll talk to someone friendly in the meeting about his side."
And I thought...oh yeah, I bet Pete Thamel is already working on this.
New Day for OSU. Same noon for TTUN.
What did the media report that was wrong? Urban admitted he knew.
What, are you trying to be an Irish R&B singer??
Yeah. I don't think this development is positive from a what's best for Ohio State football perspective. Urban's statement reads like an "I dare you MFers to fire me, I'll burn this place down" best I can tell.
Lifetime vs. UM: L 9-1, C 8-0, T 5-0
Ohio State University President Jim Tressel
With his name getting dragged thru the mud, he needed to set the record straight. If you're innocent, it's hard to keep quiet.
McLovin, the media is turning the statement that he knew into "he knew about the alleged abuse and didn't fire Smith". Most are focusing on the supposed lie at Big10 media day and on the fact that Coach Meyer didn't fire Smith (even though charges were never brought against him) and few are reporting that Coach Meyer did the right thing and told the AD.
Also something laughable I heard today in the media rounds - "Jim Tressel's transgressions were trivial"
Really? Because that's not what you were fucking saying 7 years ago.
They'll never eat crow.
When the initial narrative fails... they'll create a new one.
The unsubstantiated hatred for Urban via the media during this episode will discredit them all.
Behold the chunky whoop ass.
This thread was completely hijacked, thanks.
