After the latest ranking updates he is now the 718th ranked player overall (30th TE).  I do believe that somebody wrote the article a while ago and has been sitting on this information.

They actually updated all of that within the last two hours.

Lots to be proud of if you’re his folks. I can’t wait to see what he does in Columbus.

Deserves got nothin' to do with it

Man, this kid is going to be so easy to root for.  Reminds me of BB Landers where people try to tell the kid he can't do something based on his size.  He's going to be a good one.

So, I saw the headline of a 3 star TE and I'm saying to myself "Why should I be excited about taking a 3-star TE?!"  But then seeing that this guy paid for a greyhound out of his own pocket for a 12 hour ride (which I have done several times in my college days) and played his ass off even with an injury......well, that kids sounds like a guy I would love to have on this team.  He's like Rudy, but talented.  And athletic.  And interesting.  And a huge upside. And likable.  And, well you can see where I'm going.

I bleed scarlet...literally

Kid took a bus to visit from TN because that was his only way. That says something: no excuses, does what it takes. Guarantee he's a hard worker in all that he does.

The fact that he's a blocker first is crucial- he'll get on the field quick in Columbus. I'm pretty excited to see him play.

As far back as I can remember, I always wanted to be a gangster...

Looked good in both the blocking and passing game in his High School tape. Was concerned about his height but perhaps it isn't an issue and he moves well at 256 too.

Heart, desire, work ethic. Three things that no recruiting service can measure. Talent without effort and attitude rarely wins out

Going to be a force on special teams, punt coverage especially.

I don't use social myself but do peak at things when they are posted here.  When Cormontae first came onto the scene, I somehow ended up on his twitter (if not mistaken for one of the other social media sites) and saw he followed Inky Johnson.

If you aren't aware of who Inky Johnson is, check him out on youtube.  His story is one of the more inspiring ones I have ever heard.  When I saw that it, in my opinion, spoke to the man Cormontae aspires to be one day.  I'm very excited about Cormontae being a Buckeye.  Go Bucks!

The 6-foot-1, 256-pound Hamilton might not have the prototypical size that most big-time schools look for in a tight end, but he makes up for it with a tireless work ethic and arguably the best set of hands — and catch radius — in the entire state.

This, coupled with his sacrifice in getting up here for Friday Night Lights is all I need to hear.  I love this kid already!

Immediate impact in short yardage situations. Anything he can add in the passing gave is gravy.

For unicorn formation fans, this is the same size as Oklahoma's Tre Flowers. If you are lining up in the backfield and wham blocking & catching play action passes, height isn't as much of a consideration; athleticism is. Plus "Bush push" assistance.

Winning is a habit. Unfortunately, so is losing.

yea you got it...not the “prototype” but a hammer you can use in a variety of complementary ways...special teams, h-back, pseudo fullback in a 2 back set...and if he gets stuck on the TE depth chart...maybe flips sides of the ball to LB

Kudos to this young man for making it happen for himself. No excuses...just effort and determination. Happy for him.

Hamilton becomes the 15th in Ohio State’s Dynasty ’19 recruiting class, joining fellow Tennesseean Kane Patterson, a four-star tight end who hails from Nashville. He will certainly be the only tight end taken by the Buckeyes this cycle.

I’m confused. If Kane Patterson is also a tight end, how will Hamilton be the only tight end taken in this cycle?

HS
Andrew Lind's picture

Supposed to say linebacker. Just thinking too much about the tight end position at that point in the article and misspoke.

HS

I love 3-stars that are this easy to root for!

A roster full of entitled 5-stars won't win anything without hungry grinders like Hamilton on the team pushing the pace and setting the locker room culture!

Hamilton is a perfect choice.

A big strong, athletic blocking TE that has the hands of a WR.

Gonna be a great short yardage guy in the power run game and 3rd downs and around the goal line.

Great pick up!!!

I could see him getting on the field early in a h-back flex blocking role like Noah Brown did in ‘14.

Love that this kid had the intestinal fortitude to find a way to get up to Columbus and work out while nursing an injury and earn that offer. They say he is one of the hardest working and most committed guys in this class, hope to see a kid like this who has an outstanding work ethic become a leader in attitude for his peers. A leader in the weight room, classroom and on the field hopefully. Very impressed with the kind of maturity this young man should in how he handled his recruiting situation!

Big BOOM! GO BUCKS!

Not my personal prototype TE. I prefer the Ruckert/Jimmy Graham mold, tall, athletic, basically a uber tall WR. I think honestly has a fullback with good receiving ability. In the spread you're TE is your FB. Nice compliment to our other weapons.
