I also hope this season goes better than 2015.
Somebody hired T*m B*ck. It can't possibly get any worse.
As long as the coach doesn't try to recreate Haskins as the new JT (Run then run more) we will be better. Much better. Believe it when it is proven.
Absolutely. Very frustrating season, and only ended up12-1, beating ttun, and beating ND in a bowl.
Should be easy to do better than that

Yeah, we’re a very spoiled bunch.
It’s become a ‘National Championship or Failure’ proposition
"You can never pay back, but you can always pay forward."
Spoiled? Maybe. High expectations? Definitely.
I'd much rather have a "National Championship of Bust" mentality than a "Hey, maybe we'll win nine games this year and go to a NYD bowl" one. The first one is a winner's mentality and the second is the guy who is ok with mediocrity. It's the Yankees vs. the Indians.
Findlay by birth, Buckeye by the grace of God.
I get it, Ohio State will always have high expectations as they should. But getting to play for a NC can be a crapshoot. You can argue that team was so talented that they shouldn’t have been challenged, but they’re human. It’s not easy to replicate what 2014 was. I think Urban will win another NC, but I don’t t think he’ll ever repeat as Saban has.
Speaking of that, The post Urban world will not be much fun for a lot of fans.
I don't think it's being spoiled to say that 2015 was a failure, because that should have been the best team in Ohio State's history, loaded with NFL stars, which returned almost everybody from the 2014 title team that steamrolled through three straight Heisman finalists. Before the season, there was legitimate national discussions (not just among Ohio State fans, but nationally) about whether 2015 Ohio State could be a 2001 Miami or 1995 Nebraska level juggernaut that people remember forever. And then the season started and well...
The most talented team in Ohio State's history did not win a national title, was #7 in the last batch of CFP rankings, didn't crack the Top 3 of the final AP/Coaches Polls, was up-and-down all year even while winning, and finished second in their own division. I don't know how you can spin that as anything except a disappointment.
2015 should have been back to back National championships. That's Alabama type results. You should have lower expectations when you're paying the HC 2.1M per year. We had no reason to not repeat.
Yes, we didn't win the division, but we didn't get second; we tied for first with Sparty winning the tiebreaker. Fun Fact: Under Meyer, we've finished no lower than tied for first in the division
That's a Buckeye touchdown!
Watch the games and tell me it wasn't frustrating to watch that offense struggle all season, to watch Braxton Miller criminally underutilized, JT and Cardale's musical quarterback routine and that ridiculous loss to MSU. On paper 12-1 with a consolation bowl win vs ND looks great but it was a disappointing performance all year.
we now have a qb who can throw the ball and beck/warriner are nowhere to be seen. it will definitely be better than 2015.......heck, better than any of the last 3 years. i'll be happy to no longer see defenses putting 8 or 9 in the box against us.
2015 ain't happening again, this offense will not be stagnant...and there's no QB dilemma (yes, Tater gets some snaps).
I'd expect some early growing pains, but should this group get past TCU look out.
I'm not around that much, running exhausted and lost...
And if by chance we don’t get by TCU, see the 2014 season when we didn’t get by VTech.
And Bosa, a near lock to go in the top five of next year's NFL draft, is the biggest reason why the Buckeyes will beat out Clemson for the nation's top sack total.
Mmmm. I do like the sound of that
First off, Friday Skull Session?
Second, I watch most/all Northern Illinois games, which is sad for me I know. But Sutton Smith is the real deal, even when NIU played “big” teams like at Nebraska. That said, if Sutton is the truth, then Nick Bosa is the absolute rock solid lock. I would take either of them on my team, but no way should anyone look past Little Bear as the best of this year’s crop

Where did this week go?
Like they say, it’s five o’clock Friday somewhere.
actually, it's not, but is sure got me pumped regardless
Keep fighting CalPoppy
Best meme ever given the circumstances LOL
One day I will valiantly become a political prisoner of 11W jail.
Between that and "higher" instead of hire, I actually had to do a mental double check to make sure it wasn't April Fools' or something.
And that "higher" still hasn't been corrected
Nick Bosa could be the best player to not get Heisman consideration. He’s an absolute prototype of a monster pass rusher
Urban Meyer left an incredible legacy. 12/4/18 Ryan Day begins his.
I really hate speculation on awards BEFORE the season starts. Sorry, that's just me.
A DE is NOT winning the Heisman unless he has 20 sacks, 20 TFL and his team wins the NC
If that all did happen, Haskins or one of our RB's would end up winning the Heisman. We win the natty it means our offense clicked and no way is Haskins and our running game not putting up huge numbers.
To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift.
Okay, then. I’d accept that.
The only thing that's new in the world is the history that we have forgotten.
and his team wins the NC
That'll be tough, since the Heisman is awarded about a month before the national championship is played.
If Tuesday can be Friday, then the Heisman can be awarded after the national championship game. Which is should be, anyway.
In the spirit of George, today is Opposite Day.

It's impossible to even be considered for Heisman voting unless you are part of the speculation before the season starts.

All this after a bank heist last week... I feel like he’s trying to tell us something.

Why not? Urban has many endorsements as well.
What are they? I see Shelley on TV and hear ads on the radio, but Urban's are usually PSAs for partnerships with OSU - like Kroger food pantry to feed the poor type stuff.
They hate us cuz they aint us!! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Urban having endorsement deals is understandable though. Not that I've ever seen him endorsing anything, so I'm not sure that's true.
I've driven my last Dodge.
I don't give a damn for the whole state of Xichigan.
Suburban Drive sounds like a complete snoozer even it it combined James Corden's Karpool Kareoke with hot chix flashing their chests out the windows.
That soccer betting wmd is straight up out of control. We have long know that FIFA is corrupt and has zero control over anything, but the sheer volume of fixes and how many different areas and levels it hits is amazing. This quote also blew me away:
According to Interpol figures, sports betting has ballooned into a $1 trillion industry, 70 percent of which is gambled on soccer.
I am someone who has followed soccer for a couple of decades, and I still would not have had a clue that the amount bet is that high, nor that 70% of all sports betting is on futbol. The US is the onlyplace where soccer isn’t king.
Hell yes Bosa is gonna challenge Ed Oliver to be the top pick next year, for the same reason that Sutton Smith shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath as Smaller Bear. I'm sure Oliver will have a fine career in the League, but the competition on Sundays is going to be vastly different from what he sees in the AAC.
I'd rather hear this positive talk about the 2018 Buckeyes than hearing that the team will be fighting to have a .500 record, but I sure hope the boys don't buy in to all the hype and know that they have to earn it. Urban, he of the Doctorate of Psychology degree, will surely have to find ways to keep this squad motivated. Speaking of which, do we know the motto/slogan for this season?
"We gotta go win this next game and make the State of Ohio proud!"-UFM
Second that question. Does anyone know what the motto is this year?
Would make for a fun poll question, methinks.
Second that question. Does anyone know what the motto is this year?
I am not very smart, but I recognize that I'm not very smart. --- W.W. Hayes
Right, Khalil Mack will never be able to handle the NFL only having played in the MAC.
I completely get your point, but most GMs are going to take a player's level of competition into account when evaluating them. Most people thought the Raiders were crazy to take Mack as high as they did (although the move has turned out to be genius).
Hoping Darryl Lee's jewelry is found, that's f'd up.
Hoping the fence is an OSU fan and draws the line on the thief once he finds out who the owner was
The list of jewelry was basically a list of "things not found in a ttun player's home".
The fence is more likely to be a Michigan Man.
we're ready here
Cowan is gonna be the next star of “When keeping it real goes wrong”
I once played touch football and scored a touchdown
'Goons and savages' huh? Speak for yourself buddy, you took it to a whole nother level.
I never knew what Cowan meant by "being a savage". Until now.
"The minute we stop expecting greatness, we become Wisconsin."
He must of been talking about his 1 tackle and 1 assist last year. Now that is savage.
“Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.” - Mark Twain
Its like this whole skully was intended to get me excited way too early. First it was titled the "Friday Skull Session" on the home page, now we're talking about the insane amount of talent on the roster, and how good Bosa is. I'm officially over summer and ready for football to start.
I don’t think bosa will lead the nation in sacks next year. Not because he’s not the most talented, but because he’s going to get that “every play triple team” treatment Joey got his junior year. Coaches don’t want a star with a name beating them. They’re ok with a tyquan Lewis or Jonathan copper ending up with 3 sacks a game, but everyone will talk about it if bosa does it.
Coaches don’t want a star with a name beating them
If all goes well, Chase Young (and all of the D Line, really) will be stars a few games into the season. What will opposing coaches do then?
Yeah, go ahead and double Bosa(I just love that auto correct changed it to Boss). Not only will he still get recognition for having to be double teamed all the time, that will just give more opportunity for Young and others to wreck havoc! I'm good with that.
I saw a UFO once.......it told me to have a goodyear!
Should be another season of being the ONLY team in the country in top 10 in total offense and top 10 in total defense.
Obviously they have to pick, but what I’m saying is everyone knows bosa’s name because of the hype and his brother’s success. So when they see on TV that a bosa destroyed them, it’s like “why didn’t the coach scheme to stop him. He’s obviously good he’s nick bosa”. Fans wouldn’t have the same reaction to chase young or cooper who are both very good but not known by the average fan that doesn’t follow recruiting.
1. Someone needs to change the Skull session header; it's Tuesday. Otherwise, will start acting like the weekend is nigh.
2. Cowan should be recognized for the pilgarlic he is.
Winning is a habit. Unfortunately, so is losing.
My grandfather the pilgarlic had a sign in his bedroom emblazoned with the following:
So the talking heads/writers think OSU has a chance to be good this year. Now there's new news!
Beat everyone, in every sport, all the time!!!
He's already better than his brother...
C'mon. Nick Bosa is not better than his brother... not right now. Joey Bosa has achieved at HIGH levels on Sundays; defensive rookie of the year and a pro bowler. I hope Nick plays elite football this year, and I'd bet that he will, but he's not yet better than his brother.
When I die, sprinkle my ashes over the 70's
I think they mean better than Joey was at this point in his career, which could certainly be argued. I don't think they're really trying to compare him to Joey as a current NFL player.
Either way, I would take Joey heading into his Junior year over Nick heading into his Junior year.
I was one of the bigger Barrett proponents you could find, and I can’t even pretend to be worried about anything in Columbus. Even in one of the country’s most loaded divisions, Ohio State is a runaway favorite.
Talent has never been the issue. Play calling has usually been the culprit.
So Day sucks as a play caller?
To be fair if Barrett had Herman or Day working with him throughout his career (or at least someone consistently) I think there would be fair fewer questions about his talent level, and the play calling would have been a lot more unpredictable.
I was excited about the Greg Schiano higher (think you meant hire, mate) right from the start. Made Rutgers watchable and then had a decent amount of succcess in the League before coming back to college where his talents are better utilized. He's a phenomenal recruiter and a very smart coach. Glad to have him for however much longer we will be able to keep him!
LOL, beat me to it!
Can you believe I actually fretted about that higher once upon a time?
Just another remind that while it may seem like I know everything, I remain fallible.
Fact Check: True.
Thank God It's Tuesday
Meh, so we lost three days. There was a whole year in David Bowie’s life that he claimed his cocaine-addled brain couldn’t remember (and yet some believe it may have been the most creative period of his life).
A year? Thats it??? Shit. I dont remember....the 1990's. Apparently, there is this piece of paper framed on my wall. It says I graduated from Kent State in 2000, which is weird because I'm pretty sure I went to Kentucky....or Kennesaw State.
Newsworthy 11W article yesterday must've just forgot to include in the ICYMI:
6 Former Wrestlers Support Jim Jordan
"There's still some green showing before you see the chalk."
In the mantra of "Nothing good happens past midnight", Ill throw this out there. Surround your self with goons and savages and eventually that becomes part of your lifestyle. Prison, court, drug parties and encounters with the law are all to be expected. Its sad to see kids so enamored with the urban (Not our Coach) lifestyle.
I always told WC Kids that they would be known by the company they kept. It’s that simple, really.
I love Nick Bosa's game but to say he's already better than Joey is a stretch, he has the potential to be as good/better this year and limited snaps may have been a huge factor last season but let's not anoint him just yet....although, I feel at the end of the season we will. That being said it will be splitting hairs, they are both top 5 NFL draft players, I'd like to think of them as equally bad ass.
"I don't want to be around average, why be around average!" -UFM
Yeah - I also have Ursa Major better still at this point than Minor, but granted Nick has been in more of a rotation (at least in comparison to their respective freshman and sophomore campaigns).
Stat links for both:
I think Bosa the Younger is set up well for a bigger finish to his college career.
I believe this year's defense will be one of the best Ohio State has had. I cannot wait to see the Silver Bullets destroy opponents and turn it back to an elite offense.
That’s how many toys...
Beware the Ides of July! Kidding (mostly). Can't decide whether run or pass game will be more exciting. That's a good thing.
So sad and sucks about Darryl Lee!! Not a better guy around than him!!! Sickens my stomach!
Comparing Bosa to Smith is like comparing apples to oranges. As stated above, If Bosa played in the MAC he would have as many sacks as some starters had tackles on the year.
LB's still key to defense being the best. Disappointed WMD's did not include the incredible story of the Thia soccer team rescue, what those Navy Seals did over three days was amazing!
Was just resolved a couple of hours ago from what I read. Maybe DJ was just holding out for a good ending before linking - or figured it was receiving enough coverage. Dunno how his mind works.
At any date - definitely an impressive feat. And for those kids to survive that long trapped in a dark cave, surrounded by rising water... wow.
The title to the link for this article on the main page is "Friday Skull Session"... while I wish it was Friday, alas, it's still only Tuesday. Don't get my hopes up like that.
"Read not to contradict or refute; nor to believe and take for granted; nor to find talk and discourse; but to weigh and consider." - Francis Bacon
"But try to imagine a world in which Bosa plays in the MAC. He's likely already in jail for manslaughter."
Great line, right there. Would it be legal for Nick to pick up the tackle with one hand and the guard with the other and bang them together like a mechanical monkey with his cymbals as he chases down the QB?
Did anyone else notice that the car show host kept driving over the median like a drunk? LOL.
