He will be on an OV so I do not believe he is permitted to workout anyway.

Well since it's not open to the public Im not sure how many updates we will get :(

Hey AE or AL any way we can sneak you guys in?

KBonay's picture

He looks to be all Buckeye.  Anyone know when this is happening in Atlanta?

6-27 thru 6-29 is what I see online.

KBonay's picture

Thanks, my search showed the older events.

KBonay's picture
ELJTSA76's picture

I wonder if Urban pulled the rug out from under the public (reversing the advertised “open to the public”) because there is at least one recruit who doesn’t want to be seen in attendance...?

Ludwig Yards's picture

It's been moved indoors. Just no room for a bunch of idiot fans in the WHAC.

IBLEEDSCARLETANDGRAY's picture

Or the fact they cant fit 10,000 people into the WHAC?

Or you know, lightning.

Ludwig Yards's picture

If lightning inside the WHAC is a concern, OSU has a larger problem.

ELJTSA76's picture

I don’t think the forecast has changed since yesterday... weather and secrecy are the only reasons I can think that they would move the event to a place where the public can’t attend.  So, I’m fully aware that they may not want fans in the WHAC on the practice fields, but that’s not what I’m talking about. Could they have convinced Mertz to attend - or someone else who is committed elsewhere maybe?  I’m just wondering and guessing here.

bd2999's picture

Possible, but probably is like others are saying. Potential for bad weather had them move it inside so they could perform their evaluation easier and inside the WHAC there is not enough room for all of the people that would show up.

I doubt it is anything more than that. If there was room I am sure they would not care if people came to watch.

Byaaaahhh's picture

I HIGHLY doubt that. I don't think there's a recruit out there that could make him do something like that.

Benwin put the weather hex on us since he’s pissed you posted early.

Desymond's picture

Columbus weather has fucking sucked for like the past month. Check the weather in the morning, 90% chance of rain, don't get anything. Check the next day, 10% chance of rain, we get 2" and it thunderstorms all fucking day. Makes me want to strangle a meteorologist. The weather so far would have been literally perfect for outdoor FNL. They should have prepped for both and ran inside if it started raining.

65 Toss Power Trap's picture

Correct.

Run inside if lightening strike like every HS, college and pro football team has done for the last 100 years.

Per Kurelic, he's outside the WHAC and reporting on what he can see.

- posted that the QB's are outside on the practice fields throwing since apparently there's no rain

SpoonerBuck33's picture

QB's are now throwing to WR's outside. Hoping Bill at least discusses how they're doing instead of just posting that they are QB's who are in fact throwing a football to people who catch it

buckslan's picture

Only Bill at the WHAC? Expect some juicy click bait headlines.

Desymond's picture

Sources say Bill is beside himself. He's driving around the WHAC in a golf cart begging Urban (through texts) to let him in to watch.

Woodshed's picture

Sources say that there’s a really good chance bill might get into the whac. But the Andrews and birm are also serious contenders to get in. It’s tough for Bill to say for sure but everyone has a really good chance now of possibly, maybe, definitely not getting in.

SpoonerBuck33's picture

Yeah I'm thinking they can't be happy he's openly campaigning to make his offer commitable .....but I'm ok with this if it helps with Dobbs and Barnett

buckslan's picture

My thoughts exactly. Why else would Dwan Mathis show up? I'm more than happy if Mathis is our 2019 QB and we get Dobbs and Barnett, 2 prospects we're very high on.

NHBuckeye's picture

SpoonerBuck33's picture

Correction Mathis did not throw since he's on an official

SpoonerBuck33's picture

Alan Trieu just confirmed in the thread (link above) that Mathis is indeed on an official visit.

Unofficial visit is one thing but an official visit has to be absolutely no bueno in the eyes of the MSU staff.

It rained earlier, now it's ridiculously nice out. Too bad they moved it inside!

I was supposed to golf in Jim Pike's golf outing today (former engineer at Franklin County, now with city of columbus) sponsored by asce at darby creek. They cancelled it, so a group of us went up to rolling meadows instead and got 18 in. Its a shame OSU moved it inside considering how nice it turned out today.

I have asked before and hasn't been answered , how does a silent commit help a team recruiting? Please provide some of "many reasons they happen" . I just don't see any positives ...enlighten me . Thanx

bucknut1994's picture

They can still recruit other kids to join the class, they just will tell them to not reveal that they are committed and to #RespectMyDecision

#94Ways

clark15kent's picture

I never made any comments on how silent commits help with recruiting, but I agree with 1994.  Whether a recruit decides to share his decision with reporters or fans they can still talk to other recruits at camps or in DMs.  A lot of these players enjoy the attention, but they also put up with a lot of crap too.  As far as I'm concerned they can choose to make their choice public whenever or however they prefer, but I was just stating that personally i'm impatient and just want to know already!!!

iowabuckeyes's picture

It could be that he needs to clear it with his folks first. Or Ohio State wants something, like his ACT score. Or that there’s another kid they want and have asked the silent committee (committer?) to keep it on the QT, because they want to lock down a 2019 kid before the 2020 announces, as it has been rumored about our QB situation. Or he wants to take another visit but wants assurance he’ll have a place in the class. Or he wants to announce on a certain date that’s coming up. Lots of reasons.

SpoonerBuck33's picture

Yeah that was my initial thought was to gauge how close of a flip is Mathis before offering Maurer but I guess we'll see. I'll just be happy to have this odyssey over already.

Surprised there hasn't been any commitments and not a shred of news on Jordan Battle, Marcus Washington, or Jameson Williams. I know their OVs aren't over but I was expecting some boomage.

WorthyBuck's picture

Those are not commitments. Those are not even as dependable as a crystal ball.  But go give that clown your money.

GetBuckedUp's picture

Hot take right here.

You do Nevada is pretty close to people in the program, right? His info is worth a rivals subscription alone. Add in Givler and it's even better.

When Nevada gives a === it means a recruit gave then a verbal. Since I joined he hasn't been wrong yet. Jackson Carman was the only one who ended up somewhere else but he gave the staff a commitment early on.

niblick's picture

nevadadouche doesnt know 1/100th of what he would like you to believe. that ass clown is wrong as often he is right.

Moneymike's picture

i agree with this i see people put stuff he said and a lot of times its wrong. Also with the = seems like he just does it for recruits that most insiders have already said are good bets to join the class but when he's wrong chalks it up to oh this came up or this went wrong.

SpoonerBuck33's picture

So every insider ever when it doesn't happen? Lol you guys are funny and since he joined Rivals he's been wrong only with Trey Sermon and Carman - but then again all your fav insiders were wrong on that one weren't they? But hey let's argue about who's information is best bc of our $8/month investments we make in their companies lol

BradentonBuck's picture

Nevada was GREAT when JT was the coach, I paid for Scout when it was he and Bill Greene and they were as solid as it came. Urban plays things a little closer to the vest (ironic huh) but I would guess his info is still pretty solid. I didn't make the move to Rivals and dropped my scout premium immediately... this site is all you need.

iowabuckeyes's picture

One thing I always liked about Danny Clark was that he had a lot of charisma. I remember a similar post FNL interview when that showed his self confidence, not an arrogant swagger but rather a maturity and comfort and engaging personality in front of the camera that said he’d be a great leader. It didn’t work out for Clark but I’m seeing that same quality in Miller.

Oh well, hopefully we get some confirmed good news before the weekend is over!

Looking forward to some great Boom gifs! That's one of my favorite things to see are all the crazy stuff on here. Let's go Urban, remember rue ABC's...Always Be Closing! LOL

Numbers's picture

Many of these guys are on official visits. I assume these are over multiple days. Rarely does an official visitor commit in the beginning hours of said visit.

iowabuckeyes's picture

Right. I think it would be more someone on an unofficial visit who covets an offer, gets it during FNL and commits on the spot. Someone like Darvon Hubbard. So some offers were handed out and no one bit...que sera sera.

As I have posted before, I am intrigued by Jared Harrison-Hunte, who had 23 catches for 227 yards as a 6-4/275 TE on an 0-8 team last year. He reminds me of 2018 4-star SDE Thomas Booker, who the Buckeyes offered but signed with Stanford. He also played TE at 6-5/280.

"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." - Edmund Burke

EvanstonBuckeye's picture

Thomas Booker is a specimen, huh? I remember him being as impressive mentally as physically, too. If I recall, his list of finalists were all top-notch academic schools.

iowabuckeyes's picture

Booker's a beast. I would've loved for Ohio State to have gotten him.

"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." - Edmund Burke

Moneymike's picture

bill greene is saying he is hearing the staff will accept the commentment of who ever commits first between Maurer and Mathis. But the staff would take 2 if maurer commits first then mathis wants in but not the other way around if mathis commits first,

iowabuckeyes's picture

That has to make Maurer feel special...

fenger's picture

the staff would take 2 if maurer commits first then mathis wants in

We are going to carry FIVE QBs on the roster? Hard for me to fathom that with Miller on deck.

Moneymike's picture

im assuming it boils down to the fact they really like mathis. thats why they would still be willing to take him if maurer commits first but wouldnt take maurer if mathis commits first.

Grisle's picture

You never know, Haskins could set the world on fire this year and jump to the pros.

logamaniac's picture

By the time miller were to get on campus Haskins wouldn’t have eligibility so that would theoretically give you 4.  If Tate doesn’t beat out either of the other 3 I don’t see him staying either.  So that puts it at 3.

buckslan's picture

Haskins would be a redshirt senior while Jack Miller is a true freshman.
