Would be a nice addition to zone 6.

Common sense would point to UT, but I somehow have a good feeling about this.

His size might not blow you away, but his stats sure do.To put up those type of numbers in Texas class 6A on a team that played in the state championship is quite impressive. Bring him home Urban.

Really need to land this kid, for multiple reasons.  If Herman gets him he also gets more momentum with Texas recruits.  (not that he isn't doing extremely well already).  Urban really needs this one.

Not quite sure how the hiring of Stein helps out Texas in its pursuit of Wilson. Stein was with the Strong regime at Texas and, although he was kept on by Herman, he obviously wasn't considered important enough to compensate him enough from becoming an OC at the high school level?

HS

I have no idea if it helps or not, but the Texas guy I talk to told me that Stein loves Herman and loathes Petrino.

I think Meyer can obviously close this one out. My concern is the long period of time between his commitment and the early signing period in relationship to Texas and their proximity to Wilson on the day to day...

Urban Meyer left an incredible legacy. 12/4/18 Ryan Day begins his.

I'd like to think this scenario is a little different since he's originally from Ohio. Worst case scenario is Texas has a great year and makes the playoff, then things might get interesting.

Trust me, when Brenton Cox commited last spring, the last thing I thought would happend would be that Georgia would win the SEC, make the playoff, and have their best season in 40 years.. You just never know.

Until Tim Beck is no longer OC and they have a decent qb, I'm not worried. Beck can't coach QBs

Have you ever seen a fierce animal who you were sure wouldn't bite? Because I haven't.

Historical proximity matters, being originally from Ohio. But if Herman and Co. are close to enough to make 2 to 1 or 3 to 1 visits vs. the Buckeyes it could be tough to keep him at bay. But we’ve seen it, it’s recruiting so it will be the normal game of holding off the competition

"Theories" provide conclusions that 'help' us search for 'the facts' to prove them... and omit the rest of the story.   ;-{)}

It's a continuing, head-to-head competition between two excellent coaches... which we all know be cause both of them took our Buckeyes to the top then.

But this... is NOW.

'Raise' this time, Urban!  ;-{)}

Go Bucks!

I still can't believe the numbers this kid had last season...high school or not, those stats are amazing.

The recruitment of four-star wide receiver Garrett Wilson is winding down, and the next two weeks will likely tell the tale as Urban Meyer and Tom Herman continue their duel for the nation's No. 6 wideout.

I can see Mensa Man now: "This State ain't big enough for the two of us!"

Guns Up, Urban.

Go Bucks.

I love this kids tape. He runs great routes and he’s shifty in the open field. He has great hands and sneaky speed! Baldwin was throwing some pretty damn good balls to him as well! Consider me very impressed.

The mark of excellence, the test of greatness, is consistency

Watching that hi-lite tape of Wilson also reminds Buckeye fans of how lucky we are to have Baldwin in Columbus.  As is so often said when speaking of QB's, Baldwin is great at "throwing his receivers open." Let's hope Baldwin & Wilson reunite in Columbus as teammates.  Go Bucks!

I like our chances but this is one time living in Ohio means little unless he has big time family here. I'm much older than most of you but I don't recall to much about the 6th grade other than being a traffic guard and my first kiss. Both would tip the scales to become a Buckeye.

So, is that Baldwin at QB? Hell of an arm on whoever it is.

I'd rather be an hour early than a minute late.

I go to Houston at least one a month. Austin now has Frontier and Allegiant flying directly on the cheap. Sooo much cheaper than CMH to IAH!! That has to help his family visit and watch him. Kid has some great hands. I actually felt a bit creepy writing that.

He has two older brothers in OH.  One lives in Cbus and other is at BG.  This is a done deal.

That’s interesting. Did not know that.

His BG brother started his career at GTECH and transferred after his frosh year to play for Dino Babers.  He lettered 3 years at BG and graduating this summer with his masters.  One of my daughters graduated with him at Dublin Jerome and in fact they had lunch together today.  Get ready for the boom on this one.

Get ready for the boom on this one.

I've been following this one closely due to the fact that I work with his brother in Cbus.  I have also heard very promising news about Wilson's looming decision, but let's pump the brakes on spilling the beans too soon, so-to-speak.  Let the suspense build, Mtrotb! ;-)

With his high school qb (Baldwin) being here already, I think that seals the deal for tOSU.

HS
TxBuckeye5's picture

I don't think that seals the deal as most would think, as I've been told the two were not the best of friends in HS. Also UT QB Sam Ehlinger (also from Austin and former HS rivals), will be recruiting him just as hard as Baldwin.

We should show him and the rest of the world that WR's don't only block. They also catch touchdowns. Could be a very good year on and off of the field. Help Dwayne help you.

I'll assume UT but he chooses THE O.S.U. then icing on the cake and we can BOOM away.

So does Zach Smith become an asset or a liability to bring him in, since Herman knows what Smith is capable of coaching...

Smith is a great recruiter. Don’t let that fool you. Kids play for coaches and Zach is one kids want to play for. It’s all in the sell.

HS

it would be quite a lesson in perspective and overall development if we were to overcome home state, outstanding offensive/QB coach, and better receiver progression in 'the passing game'....

A mighty 'King of the Hill' test for Urban.  And then, either way... the competition continues....
