Cool. Time to shine Jashon. Go get it.
If LJ likes it, I damn sure love It!
I appreciate the fact that we rotate. Hope we have enough to rotate the LB and Secondary too. Seems like the RB are destined to alternate as well.
Rotation on the DL is a must to be able to disrupt offenses through the end of a game. It helps nullify opponent's adjustments as games wear on. Not sure I agree with a LB rotation, as they need a lot more reps each week in practice to train their eyes for that weeks opponents. DL doesn't have to see as much, they just gotta go. But depth at LB and games reps here n there are important to keeping the backups engaged in case an injury to a starter occurs. Rotate the corners too but not the safeties for similar reasons.
I’m sure he learned a lot about playing on the inside and that will help him with moving back outside as far as new moves he may have never developed. This D-line going to be tough and deep once again. I also read that Johnson is considering moving Barrow out to end as well.
Just posting and hoping my comment isn’t deleted.
We'll have a 4-BEAST rotation...
You Got Barbecue Back There!?!?!?!
Hell yes! I'm stoked for Cornell. He hasn't had a chance to showcase himself yet, and I'm sure his motivation level is at 11. I'm sure it is not easy to be a five star recruit and go to low man on the totem pole, but he's been a loyal soldier waiting his turn. I hope he takes the bull by the balls and runs with it as they say at Delta Tau Chi.
Or was that Dean Wormer?
Do you have pencils in your nostrils?
I'm feeling some double secret probation coming on!!!!!!
Whenever Cornell was in the game last year you heard his name for making plays.
yes! this is a safe move he's playing his natural position with experience!
The whole worlds a circus, don't you be the clown.
Wasn't Cornell originally recruited as a DE and they tried switching to DT and he's been adding weight to do so? I understand they needed depth at DT but he's always looked like a DE to me, even after adding weight. Can't wait to see him in a more expanded role.
I think 11w might have posted an article on your exact question recently!
Bosa, Cooper, Young and Cornell in the 4 man rotation makes me very happy. I literally have zero worries about the dline. Geeze its gonna suck being the opposing team QB
We don’t want to put 90 plays on Nick all of a sudden
Glad to hear this. Ive seen fans call for Bosa to be on the field every snap. That makes me cringe. Our DL is elite because it stays fresh.

Our DL is elite because it stays fresh.
And also because they're elite athletes, coached by the best DL coach of all time. But it's got to be demoralizing to opponents OL, to see the Buckeyes rotate bodies, knowing that they're all studs.

LJSR is wise, LJSR has forces ready for battle.
Hindsight is, and in, 2020
That is quite a group of ends and I think it's the perfect fit for DE's and DT's.
Now with Cornell not playing at DT (specifically backing up Jones at 3 Tech) it looks like that paves the way for a guy like Haskell Garrett to step up and claim those snaps. It also might help a guy Taron Vincent see the field faster.
Davon Hamilton and Haskell Garrett were the second-team defensive tackles in the opening practice the other day, so I'd expect them to get the first shot at claiming the backup spots behind Jones and Landers. But Taron Vincent, Antwuan Jackson and Tommy Togiai, as well as Jerron Cage and Malik Barrow, could all certainly have something to say about that too.
Exciting times. I think a lot of us have been sleeping on Haskell Garrett and forget he was a high 4* DT in the 2017 class. Everyone gets enamored with the defensive ends on the team or the DT's we landed in the 2018 class and forget about Garrett and what he can do.
And Garrett played for a team in high school that played mostly against the nation's elite without losing a game, I think, in years. Impressive background.

Completely forgot about Barrow. He was a 5* before he tore his ACL, no?
Excellent memory, he was well on his way to a 5th star, having really stood out at IMG before tearing his ACL. If I recall some scouts said he was the best DL that they had, which is high praise since IMG is always loaded.

I read/heard so many articles/podcasts listing a freshman as the 4th DE this year and I would get soo frustrated. Why would we rely on a freshman (unless he's a Bosa material) when we have Cornell who has been working his butt off for 4 years now to make an impact for this team and came in to play DE. He's earned it! And I thought Cornell looked very good in limited action last year. I look for Cornell to be a difference maker this year!
Defensive depth is essential if the offense wants to go uptempo. That's why teams like Baylor never got to the top. Their defense was worn out because they were on the field 2/3 of the game.
Winning is a habit. Unfortunately, so is losing.
What a freaking great problem to have. Talent

15-1 is SWEET!

His time will come.
Scary thought to think about both Young and Bosa lining up on opposite sides of the ball. That's a two headed monster that is going to be a force to wreckin with for opposing offenses. I'm also very excited to see what kind of a season Jonathon Cooper can put together this season, hes gotten stronger and more physical since last season. The numbers may be down for depth but I don't think that is a bad thing. Bucks are gonna be ballin on the defensive side of the ball this year.
I gotta believe that the only 2 freshman DE's that LJ is referring to has to be Tyreke Smith & Tyler Friday. I think the other 2 will need a year or 2 of Coach Mick's magic in the weight room. Either way, the 4 we got playing right now looks more than fine to me.
Remember when Cornell was the #1 player in his class at one point? It's time for the big man to have a breakout season.
Yes! This is his year! everytime we saw him on the field last season he was making plays or around the ball!
Looks like we finally got the DT cabinet all stocked up
Sometimes I think we should field two teams, we have such an embarrassment of riches! Get'r done, Jashon.

To me this means Cornell was too good to keep off the field, so he found a role out of position last year on a stacked DL.
I seem to remember being excited about 10 star Tuesday when he and Hilliard committed on the same day. This will be great. That's 20 stars at DE if my math work right

A great part of OSU football is that the 22-30 4-5 star “starters” are backed up by about 40-45 4-5 star “more starters”. I believe I own an 11W T-shirt that makes this point quite comfortably. I recommend you all get one!
Am I misremembering but aren’t all four of them previous 5⭐️ out of HS? So that would make 20 ⭐️ Rushman package, right?? I am feeling pretty certain they all were..... wow can this year be that special??
Jones was a 4 star. Cooper was only a 5 star by one service. Bosa and Young were composite 5's though.
Cornell has shown great potential the last two years. As has been the case in Columbus the last 5 years it doesn't matter a bunch who OSU has on the D-Line during the game. I remember a couple times last year (probably against the bottom or mid-level BIG10 teams) it was 3rd and 5 and either Bosa or Hubbard weren't on the field. OSU still pressured the QB. I'm just glad too see all the D-Linemen buy into the 8 man rotation thing and not transfer. They know if they stick around and get into the rotation they'll get drafted with a nice signing bonus.
