Just hope he doesn't land at a B1G school.
Our honor defend, so we'll fight to the end !
Thad seems too good for a place like Ole Miss but if he gets the job I'll be happy for him that he has the opportunity to coach at this level again.
The last guy was there 13 years. He obviously got something good out of it - and the school did, too.
He won't cheat or lie enough to coach there.
Ignorance isn't bliss for the rest of us.
He can take his $10 million buyout from OSU to Mississippi?
I guess if Thad deems this the opportunity then I would root for his success.
While Thad had some very good years at Ohio St. What did he accomplish the last 2-3 years of his coaching career to warrant another shot? And what about is health issues?
One recruiting class that crapped out really did him in. He'll be starting from scratch here with that behind him. He knows basketball and his health is said to be better.
He recruited and developed KBD.
He recruited and developed KBD.
...and Jae'Sean Tate.
I preferred Rebels Losers better.
Oxford is actually a very pretty place. Loved the campus - all buildings have that stone facade. Cool place - there could be worse places to coach. AND IT'S WARM!!!!!
Besides UK, the SEC is a dumpster fire of a hoops conference. Thad could have Ole Miss legit within a couple years and have the second best hoops program in the league in about 4.....I wouldn't blame him - although his wife may want to kick him in the shins cause they JUST moved back to Indiana a few weeks back.....
No matter what he does, best of luck to him.
And UK may not be UK by that time. They are likely a part of the FBI investigation.
Many schools may be interested in a coach that has a reputation for being clean!
And I agree, no matter what, hope it works out for him.
Beat everyone, in every sport, all the time!!!
I am all for it.good for him.sometimes you just need to step away and get your mind on something else, plus getting your health better.let's not forget that is how we got our football coach.Thad did not get any sanctions and did nothing wrong.I wish him well.
I wish him the best as long as he never coaches a game against Ohio State.
Wherever he ends up coaching you can be sure that the NCAA will try to have him play against OSU in the tournament at some point. They love to do that!
One thing's for sure: he won't cheat at recruiting.

per report per report
what health recovery measures did Thad take in his ... interim?
I wish him the best, has always been a class act.
As he continues to collect his $3m/yr over the next 2-3 years, he can be picky enough to pass on jobs like Ole Miss. There will be something better that comes open with the FBI stuff and coaches with good reps (think Matta and Crean) will be in great positions to negotiate with schools that want to rebuild a tarnished reputation.
Thad, stay on the beach with drink in hand. don't work = 3 mil per year. work = 3 mil per year dealing with everything involved with B1G time college b-ball...
16-2 is SWEET!
They don't even have those umbrella drinks in Mississippi.
Glad to hear he is beating his health problems. Expected nothing less, but you never know.
I'll root for Ole Miss, (as the Godfather says) "as long as your interests don't conflict with mine."
Priority #1: Beat Michigan
If I'm Matta, I'm telling my agent to put out feelers to Arizona, it would be Karma for him to replace Sean Miller after Miller snaked Kobi Simmons from OSU with a big bag of money.
I had to look up sachems. I snickered both before and after learning the meaning.
I believe for him to continue receiving payment from Ohio State he had to interview for coaching jobs. He couldn’t just sit on the sidelines collecting his $$$$$.
TG Proud Buckeye alumnus.
Ahhh, like Les Miles interviewing with Purdue
Sometimes breaking with long time coach works best for everyone, like with Georgia, Mark Richt, and Miami. I hope that is the case with Thad, Ohio State, and wherever he lands.
"The only good thing about it is winning the d*** thing" - Urban Meyer on The Game The War
Just seems like a bad idea. Foot and back stuff doesn't go away. He'll have that for life and the downtime has probably done him wonders but that stuff will kick right back in if he goes back to coaching. Not to mention part of the problem was he didn't love the grind of recruiting. That hasn't changed. You can't zero in on a few guys these days. You have to cast a wide net and have constant contact with these kids... something he never wanted to do. Plus I'll continue to believe his biggest "failing" was not adjusting with the times. He had a great blueprint that worked at Butler and early on at Ohio State but that blueprint became round hole square peg as the game changed and he didn't adapt with those changes.
He will always be a Buckeye and will always root for him but sure would hate to see him get antsy to get back to coaching and then straight up flame out somewhere..
I wish Thad well, but it doesn't seem like the smartest decision to come back, given his health issues.
Sure, Urban took time off from a health scare and to decompress, but Thad has legitimate chronic issues.

Good for Thad, iam one Buckeye fan who loves his style. A winner a class guy, I hope he gets back into coaching and wins big where ever he goes.
Hope they like beer and fries in Oxford............

I'm guessing "the right one" means one in a major conference, but not one where the pressure is as great as it was here or other blue chip schools.
Thad is a class act all around - wishing him the best with whatever decisions he makes.
Go get'em Cal Poppy - we are behind you !!
It's not a rivalry .............. it's a wreckoning.
Thad did a great job for our program. I wish him the best of luck on whatever he decide to do.
