Fuck Penn State, plain and simple.
This is definitely where I parked my car.
And every reprehensible disgusting thing it stands for. I have an Ohio State diploma on my wall, and at the end of the day, at least I'm not embarrassed of that.

So... would you say we're winning at life?
I don't understand the last 2 possessions.
I dont understand the last 2 mins. Just strange possessions, strange calls and no calls by the refs, a defensive breakdown and all the sudden it is over. I was like what just happened?
How many shots did Jackson make tonight? And you put the ball in HIS hands at the end of the game? I just don't understand...
Fuck Penn St man. Last 2 possessions were horrible.
The world is yours
Long lay off before the NCAA tournament. This team definitely overachieved this year but it's been fun. I imagine OSU will end up with a 5 or 6 seed.
More like 7 or 8. Losing 3 of our last 5 games in a weak B1G and then having more than a week off while the rest of the nation gets the main stage is going to kill our seeding.
No chance they're any worse than a 6 seed.
Judging from us being slotted as a 4 seed when we had only one conference loss, the Selection Committee clearly thought us to be frauds. Over the past three weeks we...well...proved them right. The week off is not going to help ANYONE in this conference as well.
No way is 24-8 an 8 seed. MAYBE a 7 at the absolute worst.
I think the B1G has gotten MUCH, MUCH better over the last month... a LOT of these teams were YOUNG and have matured. I won't be surprised if they do fairly well in the NCAA. PSU might be too little too late but they are a team that is VERY good right now... I mean VERY, VERY good...
You WIN with people.
Nah, Carr is legit badass.. but the team isn't that great. They depended entirely on officiating tonight to win, and on a record setting performance in the first matchup.. they also give us in particular a tough matchup position by position, but they aren't that good. They will get spanked next game.
Penn State has our number. Some teams just seem to play over their head against certain teams. And State Penn is one of those. I mean the other way.
I wouldn’t be so upset that we lost...except that it was against Penn State...for the THIRD time this season.
"Thousands of tired, nerve-shaken, over-civilized people are beginning to find out that going to the mountains is going home; that wilderness is a necessity..." -John Muir
Beaten by the same team 3 times. No adjustments at all. Out rebounded and beat down underneath. Absolutely no excuse for Dakich to be on Carr for so long. Just a piss poor showing by everyone not named KBD. Holtman left a lot to be desired the last 40 seconds of this game.
You can't be serious.
Elon Musk: 'I Want to be Clear: I Do Not Respect the SEC'
Seriously dude? PERSPECTIVE please... this team GREATLY exceeded expectations in October.
I am not very smart, but I recognize that I'm not very smart. --- W.W. Hayes
True, but it's not October. Basketball is won in March. Except the NBA.
In a one point game against a tough matchup we had a travel which didn't actually happen called on a possession in which Kam made a solid shot (probably an and 1 but I doubt it with the officials tonight)... That's the difference in the game.. we played not great but we did enough to deserve the win.
WTF-you expect Holtman to be John cheney in his first year on the job?
This one is tough to take.
I'm not around that much, running exhausted and lost...
We had 4 guys stand around waiting for KBD to make a play and he didn't.. then on defense we had 5 guys standing around thinking Carr was going to go iso... he didn't.... ball game.
TOUGH LOSS. But man how many times do these guys have to watch film that PSU is going to drive and dish back out for the 3 ball and three games now we overhelp and leave guys wide open..
Here's hoping we get a favorable match-up come Madness time..
If we don't "over help" then he dumps it to the low post.. if we don't help at all he makes like 80% of the shots he takes.. and gets fouls called on almost every shot down low.
C.J. Jackson doesn’t have a clue what he’s doing out there. He let his guy go for the free dunk. And then the last possession doesn’t make a pass. He made great plays this year but kid plays reckless and relies way to much on athleticism.
He had to immediately double because we had a walk-on guarding the league’s top scorer.
Yeah and that’s no Dakichs fault. Personally I would’ve had Musa Jallow on him but for some reason (maybe I missed it) he didn’t play. But C.J. gave up on the double and didn’t get help. His fault? No. But I’m not only talking last few possessions. Even though the final one was terrible. What was he doing? Going see how fast he can dribble from sideline to sideline and then shoot a jump hook for 3? I mean we have teammates to rely on.
I did not understand why we kept putting Dakich on Carr. It's not like Dakich was switching onto Carr -- we set it up for them from the beginning of the possession multiple times. The one time KBD guarded Carr late in the game, we got a stop. Pretty much every time Dakich was on Carr, the entire defense had to scramble to help.
Ball-man...he failed both. Dakich had Carr locked down, wasn’t beat off dribble. Jackson didn’t need to help
"When you help someone up a hill, you get that much closer to the top yourself..."
Maybe KBD shouldn't have choked away the ball
or does he just get a pass since he's our best player
Well KBD showed up so... what’s ur excuse for C.J. for the whole game? I mean don’t tell me nobody else showed up bc Andre Wesson balled. Dakich busted his ass and gave energy. I get on C.J. bc he seems to hold the ball too long and drive in when there’s no chance of anything happening.
If you want to simply point your finger to the weakest link go ahead. There's plenty of blame to go around though. Like you, I don't have high expectations for CJ at all.
When we give the ball to our best player for what's supposed to be our final possession I don't expect him to turn it over.
He gets a pass because he got fouled... twice.
B10 POY with 25 points against constant double teams the entire game, but yeah...he choked. Wow this fan base sometimes.
Knowing ignorance is strength; ignoring knowledge is sickness - Lao Tzu
Call it what you want.. we got shafted at the FT line, and if they called the prior foul on Dakich on the strip, then KBD was also fouled on that possession.
He had 6 assists and zero turnovers
I play, coach stays. He goes, I go.
Remember Jackson was a late recruit and allot wasn't expected of him. He isn't a true point guard and was forced to play it all season. Maybe Pearl Washington's kid will solve the point guard problem next year?
"We're going to give the ball to dumb-ass and grind meat"--Woody Hayes
Nope. C.J. isn’t from Jackson. You’re thinking of another kid that oddly didn’t play today. C.J. has been in the team.
Shit, if I were Pat Chambers I'd lobby for them to play us the full season. We wouldn't win a game.

Damn, this article didn't take long.

I would've had it written already as of this morning

Hey, we a football school right? A rivalry is born
yeah, this is exactly what those jerks were hoping for. not only do they get mentioned in the same breath as Ohio State, but in CFB and CBB the last 2 years, theyre 4-2 against us.
1-1 in football, 1-3 in basketball. I think Thad = 1-0, Urban = 1-1, Chris = 0-3. Is mediocrity dressed in bland white and navy his kryptonite or something?
I said it in the forum and i ll say it here again. Psu is to B1G basketball what iowa is to B1G football. An average team that ruins a top team’s season but craps itself against everyone else. Never gonna be a rival but it’s comical watching them try so hard.
dissatisfying username tonight, man.
Tell me about it
Nits might not be Our Rival in football, but I'm changing my tune where the BasketBucks are concerned.
<insert Muttly growling and gnashing of teeth>
This is the one year out of ten where theyre better than us in basketball. Next year they wont have carr anymore and will be back to being a joke again. Osu might lose KBD but has a much more proven track record of replacing stars.
it was fun watching the team dribble around the perimeter until the shot clock expired.
RIGHT! Right.... Right........... Can we run? Do we know how to run and cut like we mean it, and run around screens and run and move our legs faster than a walking pace? When we do that (sometimes) we actually do well.
Reach in on Dakich called then same play on the other end and no call. Refs come in at the end and hit the game winning calls. People will say oh you can't blame the refs but when it's one point and the refs were calling a shit game it's the refs fault. Has happened all across the Big Ten this year. Sometimes in our favor but a lot of times against us.
Edit: yes last possessions were abysmal. Just a pissed off guy over here pay no mind just venting
Come on now this is something I would expect to read on a Penn State message board.
nah, it'd be much worse from a PSU fan.
I have been pissed at the officials all season long. They have been absolutely awful this year. Not just in our games but across all the Big Ten. Again I'm pissed off so most of this is me being pissed off but overall the refs this year have been as inconsistent as I've ever seen them. Were there things we could have done better? Yes. Do I think the officials played a part in the outcome of this game? Yes. Do I think if we did those things better that we could have overcome the officials? Also yes.
I'm with you on the anger. I just punched the punchin bag until my knuckles started bleeding. now in drunk texting with bloody knuckles. it's fun being a sports fan.
Lost three times to the same team in four weeks including a neutral court loss. Yeah. It was the refs. Not sure how I missed that.
Fuck Fuck Fuck!!!!!
Ok but on the bright side, Penn State won’t make the tournament unless they win the next two games.
So chances are good we won’t have to play them a FOURTH time. Maybe.
Remember, going into the season, no one would have guessed the Buckeyes would have this season.
Also remember, the Buckeyes are Penn fucking State away from winning the conference regular season and possibly conference tournament. Unbelievable.
at least last year we could beat Penn State
that was drunk anger. feel free to DV it, but it's too old to edit. It's just frustrating. I hate those guys.
This is a team with one game remaining in its season.
The most "loud mouth, disrespect" poster on 11W.
F'n Penn State...
Got fucked by the refs again.
Lame excuse. Play better and harder and not have CJ playing defense at the end.
Ur right the refs made all the right calls..we love the refs. Can't say anything about the refs...lame.
I think he was just saying it's a Penn State/Michigan thing to do to blame the refs. There were plenty of things we could have done to win this game. Sometimes the losing team has to take responsibility for the loss instead of putting the responsibility on someone else.
They just had our number this year. I wish KBD turned it on earlier in the game, but too many misses from the supporting cast in the middle game. Use this as a learning experience and move forward with the tourney that matters!
I came. I saw. I conquered.
You lose 3 times to the same team then part of it has to be with game preparation.
It is like they cannot figure out how to guard Carr.
And as a coach you have a pathetic defensive player on the floor in CJ who promptly gives up the game winner.
Agreed Id rather have given up some shot making ability and put in Tate at the beginning of the offensive possession.
Well, I think it’s safe to say I’m sick of them.
"Because I couldn't go for three." -Woody Hayes
Tough loss but the future looks bright for you guys. Your coach did a great job especially when you had to play guards like Dakich.
Your future looks bright, too. 3rd place in the Big 10 East.
4th place*. Are you forgetting about PSU or little brother?
I was thinking they’d overachieve.
Salty fans downvoting you. Here's a +1 for being amicable.
"Anything easy ain't worth a damn"
No, he comes in here with amicable comments after a bad loss with a passive aggressive comment on Dakich. Douchebag Michigan stuff.
So complimenting your coach and the job he's done this season and simply pointing out that you had to play a walk-on significant minutes makes me a douchebag? Just going to assume your pissed off about the game totally understandable I get the same way. I think regardless of what happens in the tourney you guys will look back on a hell of a season considering the projections in the preseason.
I didn’t see your comments in stories about victories.
You've also never seen me knock your team in any loss or come on here and talk any kind of smack even after Michigan won at home. I wasn't gloating because you guys lost and let's be honest the most important college sport we suck at.
Don’t worry about it....the reality is any team that plays a guard who still shoots underhand layups and set shots and is not named Hickory should be happy to be over 500. Anger should be directed at the coach...no way should Dakich have been in that matchup for the final possession.
If you have nothing to hide you have nothing to fear.
I agree. Coaching and execution were both poor to close this one out.
how do you lose to PSU 3 times in one season... no matter how overall season went, how do you lose 3 times against PSU.... not MSU or Purdue... but PSU... 3 times.
Horrible coaching adjustments ... what was last play all about? you took TO to do that?
last 1/3 of the season showed, we over-achieved majorly and true color showed up.. glad we will make NCAA... and that's a big win for sure, but very disappointing end..
losing 3x to PSU... that's just great
Many things can be blamed for the loss. Missed front ends of 1 and 1s, too many offensive rebounds given up, many missed point blank shots.
But I see this game being lost on the offensive end because they just do not have the horses. Their strength is inside but teams can double up in the paint and the outside threat is just not there consistently. There is no one who can consistently break down a defense off the dribble. Then, at the end of a close game all a team has to do is deny KBD.
need a point guard .
In the worst way.
Well, let’s look on the bright side we get to play ONE more game.
No more than that.
If we win we would play two more games and so on and so forth if we keep winning. That's the way the tournament works.
Where was Tate down the stretch? Did I miss something?
On the bench. Holtmann got tired of his bonehead plays tonite. Guy is totally clueless.
Yeah I thought the same thing. Defense would have been a lot better down the stretch with Tate in the game instead of Dakich.
I can't believe they call tricky tack fouls on dakich strip and yet diop didn't get fouled?!?! You suck refs
Good job. Now I gotta listen to a million penn st fans in my ear. A lot to build on obviously but this pisses me the fuck offf.
fuck Penn State. Enjoy watching us in March bitch cuz you won't be there
"The hate of men will pass, and dictators die, and the power they took from the people will return to the people. And so long as men die, liberty will never perish" - Charlie Chaplin
Dude we have NO right to talk shit to Penn State. They own us.
Not talking shit, just stating FACTS
at 68-64... it was the 'goto guy' compared to the team... once again. Two missed front end 1&1s & a missed close shot...
the Buckeyes played tight & poorly for quite a while in the 1H, but had nice 3pts shooting when moving the ball quickly, and several gutsy rallies...
What is it about playing against us that makes every crazy shot Tony Carr takes go in? Two of his shots from 3 were absolute prayers. Unreal how lucky they were against us this year.
He averaged 20 a game this year. He went for 28, 30 and 25 against us in those three games. There were a couple lucky shots, yes, but he's no fluke. He is the real deal, shows up on the big stage, and we simply had no answer for him this year.
Need to try more answers than Dakich...
Hey Delaney, fire all of those refs. Do it now.
Carr...go to hell and I hope your ACL explodes tomorrow
Stay golden, Ponyboy.
That’s pretty disgusting.
I don't give a shit. Fuck that bitch
We’re classier than this.
Maybe so...but I think PSU and everyone associated with that school are the scum of the earth
Grow up dude.
That's disturbing on many levels. Maybe you might want to get some fresh air, sir.
CJ Jackson is worthless. He did nothing but fuck things up tonight
Except for his 6 assists and 0 turnovers?
Defensively he was terrible.
I'll start by saying giving up offensive rebounds was a large contributor to the loss, but...
I rarely complain about officiating, but that was a bit ridiculous. Not sure what we could have done when Carr is allowed to use his off arm to create space on every touch he gets, and any time we even breathed on him, it was a foul. Not sure how many times Tate got mauled in the first half on a drive without a whistle.
Refs were par for the course, no worse than normal. But yeah, Carr and Stevens use a stiff arm push off on every drive and only one got called on Carr.
And feel bad for Tate, like you said, he seems to absorb a lot of contact with no call when he takes it to the basket. And then his 2nd thru 4th fouls were all absolute touch calls. The one he flopped on a Carr elbow, it was a flop, but it sure as hell wasn't a blocking foul.
That was not exactly the way to end a season. Hoping for better results next year. We don’t match up against good defenses and we have no defense against good offenses. Bye, glad I did not fly to NYC for 1 and done...
Which 12 seed do y'all think will beat Ohio State in the first round?
— Ryan Ginn (@rmginn) March 3, 2018
Lol, what a twerp
Ginn loves negativity and LSU, that's why I don't follow him or read Lo10.
Fuck Ryan Ginn. Cherub.
Ryan Ginn needs to go suck LSU's dick some more and stop covering OSU
have to wait until the brackets come out, but remember 2014 when #6 OSU was bounced in the 1st rd by #11 Dayton.
Doesn’t Penn State have the exact same team next year? Welp
Carr will likely go pro thankfully.
Carr is playing like he'll fucking dethrone LeBron next year
Penn State got every damn call. When they missed...they were bailed out.
Just once I want us to get a decently called game. KBD got fouled twice on his last possession and nothing was called.
Man, I almost hate PSU worse than TTUN and I have never had respect for Chambers...
We need to figure this thing out...we have a shot in the tourney, but cannot play timid like this. Let’s Go Bucks! 2 weeks to get things straight.
Agree 100 percent. PSU was bailed out time and time again by them getting the foul called
Tourney play is all about defense and guard play, Ohio State can't count on guard play.
They can count on the refs calling it closer than they have in the Big 10, especially in the last 2-3 weeks.
The only player who seems to enjoy and thrive in these slug fests is Tate.
Simply embarrassing. How does this coaching staff and team let the 7th place team in the B10 beat them three in a row? Where was the 3pt defense. . . again? Significantly out rebounded . . . many times PSU got multiple shots under their basket due to our lack of rebounding. Highly disappointed but I guess we get what we earned.
We can cry about the refs, but one critical point down the stretch was when Bates Diop misses the front end of a 1n1 after the under 4 timeout. Had a chance to separate
Not to boast right now but I got obliterated when I said we got lucky with Cj taking the last shot against Indiana. Now same people are saying he stinks. Seems reasonable.
I know a lot of guys here love him, but Dakich frustrates the hell out of me. Me makes me nervous when he handles the ball and he freaking dribbles right into trouble more often than not.
The last couple possessions by the team overall we horrible. Tough loss for sure.
Fields of Dreams
There is a reason he played a total of about 30 minutes in 4 years at Michigan. He is a walk-on who has no business on the floor at this level.
If you want upvotes for being critical of Dakich need to go mgoblog...here the delusional force is strong. The only thing he would touch if he would of stayed at ttun this year is a towel.
BUT having him in in crunch time guarding the best offensive player on the floor..is a coaching issue not the player.
Steven Bardo is a fucking asshole.
He is. That was a punk ass comment on KBD.
KBD got tackled by Garner. Bardo hates OSU. He has been a bitch all season toward them
This team is just not very talented. No reliable shooters or scorers outside of KBD. No post presence on either end. The only guy who knows how to run an offense is a walk-on who played 26 minutes in 4years at Michigan, and we now have him guarding the league’s top scorer at the end.
OSU will be no better than a 6 seed in the NCAA tourney. Michigan will be a 4
I hope Purdue drops PSU by about 40.
PSU will probably shoot somewhere around 10-15% from the field. As long as it’s not against us they suck.
Yep. They will get beat by 15 plus and won't make anything
When ypu have Dakich and CJ guarding what do you expect. Good teams dont guard an NBA player with 2 pathetic defensive players.
Carr beat us by himself THREE games in a row. Home, away, neutral. Stud.
He pushes off every play and banks in 3s. I'd hold off on calling him the next Michael Jordan...
CJ Jackson just was terrible tonight. How do you let a guy cut across the lane and not even see it
Rival or not.
I don't like those guys
Varys: I've always hated the bells. They ring for horror, a dead king, a city under siege.
Tyrion: A wedding.
I just hate it that we lost this game when they had such a key player out with injuries. At some point, they need to step in and make a play.
Also, for whatever we're paying him, we need the head coach on the radio for postgame.
I withdraw my comments regarding the head coach. It seems that he was shuffled off to the press conference per Big Ten practice so he couldn't be in two places at once. My apologies.
Everyone is a little bitter right now but we can't fault Holtman. What a season. I am really anxious to see what he can do next year.
Double post. Still pissed but optimistic.
It's almost as if the B1G wants a couple more teams to make the NCAA tourney lol laughable reffing
Buckeyes going to be a 7 or 8 seed
If i could change my username, i would
Six seed sent way out west
They fucking hacked the shit out of KBD when the ball got stolen. Then everybody wants to stand around holding their jock strap as the dude cuts to the bucket smh.
We’re a 2 seed if Penn State doesn’t exist... Instead we’re gonna be a 6 or 7... Man this sucks.
Great unexpected year by the good guys. Thad never lost 3 games in one season to psu, hopefully Holtmann figures out how to beat psu by next season.
Tony Carr will be playing in the NBA next year and Garner is a SR so that will help.
Tony Carr will be in the G League. He plays little defense and he will defended with ease in the pros
He's a top 30 1st rounder in the mock drafts and whether he is playing in the NBA or not, most likely he'll be playing pro ball somewhere next year. I couldn't care less where he plays pro ball but I'll be glad he's not abusing Ohio State's guards anymore.
The NBA has about 100 Tony Carr's already. Great college player but he is a poor defender and would be just another jersey in the NBA
Like I said, I don't care, he won't be at PSU next year, which is good for Ohio State. Alhough Luther Muhammad might be able to handle him, well at least better than any guard on the roster right now.
Glad I turned it off after PSU’s and-one at the beginning of second half....
The loss sucks for sure, but it's great to see so many emotional comments on an osu b-ball thread. Remember where we were at this time last year.... Not even an nit bid now Big dance for sure this year! Love coach Holtmann and love this team! The future is bright my friends!
Dakich guarding Carr most of the night was the game. Dakich plays hard but that is a mismatch. KBD should have been playing him all night. Coaching on that call there. Terrible.......
Saban on a cart eating cold pizza
I like Diop helping out and we needed him as a rebounder/ rim protector. Do agree it shouldn't have been dakich. Think we should have put Wesson or Tate on him.
KBD doesn’t need to guard their backup center halfway to the three point line on the game winning dunk. If he has a foot on the block then he can at worst put Reaves on the foul line
If they called PSU on the fouls they called OSU on....Game would not have been close. Garner straight mugged and tackled KBD...the same play earlier was called a foul on Dakich
The officiating towards the end was atrocious. Missed calls against Penn State, call on Dakich that shouldn't have been called. Yes, I know Ohio State kept missing shots, but when the officiating goes downhill towards the end, the team that shouldn't have won, ends up winning
That's a Buckeye touchdown!
I got the same empty feeling like I get when we lose to Michigan or the National Championship in football.
No. Sorry. It’s not even close to that unless you are an alum who played basketball at Ohio State. Otherwise it’s not even in the same universe.
Whomever is going around downvoting all the people complaining about the refs needs to go rewatch the game. The refs beat us yet again. Plain and simple. Penn State has only beaten us one time this year. You can call it sour grapes all you want, but it's just simply facts. Losing by one point with an egregious amount of one-sided officiating. We have reason to be upset about it.
There’s a lot of unnecessary downvotes on a lot of comments.
The problem is (and FWIW it's not me doing the downvoting) that there's too much crying wolf in here about the refs. According to the collected wisdom of the basketball game threads, the Bucks are now 24-0 in well-officiated games and 0-8 in badly officiated games. There were ref-blaming comments in the game at State College, where we barely showed up.
Oh please. Did you watch the game? PSU was bailed out time and time again with fouls being called. KBD was mugged at the end by Garner. Carr pushed off with the free arm time and time again.
The refs sucked but I mean PSU had like a million players in foul trouble. Pretty sure we were in the bonus and bonus + before they were. Missed free throws killed us.
Hate me all you want for this, but I have a funny feeling that this is going to be Holtmann’s best team at OSU when all is said and done. Nothing he has done from an in-game coaching standpoint has really impressed me this season. There will be a big drop off next year when the talent that Thad left him is gone.
The butt-hurt is strong with this one.
Behold the chunky whoop ass.
I respect your opinion but I think it is a little unfounded and harsh. Holtman has won with lesser talent this year even to the point of recruiting walk ons and Dakich. With the little chance he has been given so far, the results have been beyond expectation.
Woah, you saw all that from one game? Seems a bit reactionary...
also I had a good laugh at "all the talent that Thad left him"
Please tell us about all the talent Thad left him.
You’re a dumbass. Go and root for Duke or something so you can be happy
CARDALE JONES! CARDALE! JONES, THE WHOLE STATE OF OHIO IS COUNTING ON CARDALE JONES!
The talent Thad left him? LOL!
What a fucking stupid comment. When Holtmann got here he had SEVEN scholarship players. SEVEN. His rotation includes are 4 year walk on Grad Transfer and a kid who should be playing his senior season of high school basketball. When he got hired people were wondering if would even have enough players to practice and he turned that into a team that finished 2nd in the B1G regular season.
This team only goes as far as CJ Jackson takes them. If he sucks they aren't winning
Big Ten network really loves jerking PSU athletics off when they win anything....
I had to listen to the game on the radio, at work. I wonder if it was as frustrating to watch as it was to listen to?
"If you're not changing, you're falling behind."
I'm pissed, but tbh I'm glad the passion is back for basketball. look at all the comments on this article... about basketball. Fuck Penn State, let's send them a postcard from the big dance while they enjoy the NIT.
Yeah, and they still beat us three in a row.
Going to the dance is better than the NIT.
Yup. Must be salty for them when they watch a team they went 3-0 against playing in March Madness from their couch.
Why was Tate on the bench the last 7 mins of the game? I thought OSU coaches would have at least put him back into the game at the 4 min mark. Bates-Diop responded like the player of the year, but there were times the shot clock reached 1-2 secs resulting in bad shots being taken. Penn St is athletic and will be a handful for everybody left in the tourney. Carr needs to start calling his 3 point backboard shots (his 3 pt winning bank shot in Columbus and the one he hit this evening were critical to PSU's favorable outcomes).
I was wondering the same thing.
Would have put Tate on reeves, wesson on Garner and KBD on Carr....
agree. Tate is a good defensive player. I still don't get why Tate wasn't in at crunch time?
Was that Matta in disguise coaching?
On to the wrestling tournament.
Why? To watch us lose to Penn State again?
I kid. Somewhat.
Can't win games with 2 guards in the game that can't make shots and cannot defend very well.
At least it wasn't Rutgers... All in all, not enough support for KBD, need more points from others to advance in NCAA tourney.
"Ice! It's in my veins!" - D'Angelo Russell
Rutgers is up 3 on Purdue at halftime.
With Watkins out I thought that Wesson would be fed the ball all night and have a big scoring night. PSU offensive rebounding, second and third chances killed us. Missing a couple front end one and ones hurt also. Tate not being in down the stretch was a head scratcher. Tate had a couple tricky tack fouls 94 ft from our basket. We let one get away from us tonight. Last minute and a half of offense was not good. I am setting up a go fund me page for a new tv if your interested in giving. I was given an intentional foul by my wife on the tv.
24-8 and going to the big dance is still a great accomplishment for this team and I’m proud to be a Buckeye. Go Bucks
Getting out of the Big 10 will help OSU. At this point every team knows everything about you and as usual the Big 10 refs should be calling middle school hoops
Some of these knee-jerk reactions are ridiculous. But with that being said, this team has really come down to earth hard over the past month. By no means does that take away from the job this team has done as a whole. It makes the 9-0 conference run and a 15-3 finish even more remarkable because the deficiencies we thought would dominate this basketball season are starting to rear their ugly head, and at the worst possible time.
KBD deserves to have that 33 retired for what he meant to this basketball team this year. There aren't many good Division I basketball teams I've ever seen that are this dependent on one guy to generate just about all of the offense. It's a blessing and a curse. Thank goodness he has risen to the occasion, or this season might have been vastly different.
What sucks is having to wait a full week to find out where they are going.
Goal for next season...get a damn defense!
Goal for next season...get a damn point guard
Need a PG in a bad way.
anD a competent PG...
and a solid 'big'...
and someone who can replace KBD's production....
16-2 is SWEET!
Well ... think of the positives ... the team will be well rested.
The will to win is not as important as the will to prepare to win. -- Woody Hayes
I'm ready for football...
The Big Ten network pushing hard now for PSU to get into the tournament. No chance they deserve a bid.
Free throws killed us all season..
Down the stretch they did. Wesson and KBD missed a ton of front end 1 and 1s the last few games.
And 2 big front end misses from both of them tonight.
I said it about March madness but true here as well...crunch time comes down to guard play execution...we are limited. only thing that that would make this loss worse is if Purdue looses to rutgers
If the Bucks play them again, they lose again. Welcome to basketball where matchups mean every thing.
And like the Eleay led Broncos, they will get stomped.
Me thinks the Big Ten will not do too well in the tournament. Purdue, Sparty, OSU are so beatable...
Michigan probably goes the furthest in the dance
The knock on KBD is that he’s soft, and he did nothing tonight to dispel that notion. Sorry to pile on, but not only did he miss his free throw, but he loses the ball on the ensuing possession (after a time out)—and then is caught standing and watching on PSU’s winning basket. A POY just doesn’t let that happen—very disappointing.
All true comments but I shutter to think where this team would’ve been without him tonight and how they can even be remotely competitive next year without him —- in the absence of at least two incoming freshmen world beaters.
very true as well, and again, the reason I pointed these out was because he IS our leader--and with the praises come the criticism...and fwiw, why the hell was Jea'sean on the bench during this stretch?!?! Unless I'm crazy, I don't think he fouled out, did he?
Haven't been this pissed off at a loss since the game in Iowa where they made the Hawkeyes look like the best team in college football...SMH....just seething
Can we start to cry like psu fans, it has started to work for them. They shot 9 more free throws tonight, thats the difference. They have complained for years about football and basketball about how they dont get calls, seems to have paid off for them.
What in the name of fuck was Jackson thinking on that last possession ?? Did he think we had 1:03, instead of 0:03 left on the clock ?? It looked like he was trying to go into a stall ?? I saw no sense of urgency to get to the basket, when a two point try was all that we needed, not some ridiculous three-point flub .... OSU should have been crashing the boards on any shot, but that ridiculous dribbling display by Jackson killed any chance. He should be in the locker room begging forgiveness from his teammates .... I don't mind players missing shots, as long as there is an effort involved - Jackson showed zero resolve to get up the court with speed and take that shot ....
I was too busy watching Jackson take his time, but who was guarding him...Tony Carr. Insult to injury. Yes, OSU could use a good point guard, but also some length at guard period. Too many times OSU could not get a perimeter shot over PSU guards and when OSU was defending on the perimeter, PSU shot over them.
Sorry, my hatred for psu has been raised exponentially since joe pa had let a pedophile run unchecked for decades. Then their fan base still supports the enabler.
That has nothing to do with the bucks losing. It was a better year than we all thought. Now let's get a team that can win. I am very happy with this year.
Such a frustrating loss. Too many missed free throws. We don't have anybody that can guard Tony Carr. KBD can't lose the ball on our last full possession. CJ Jackson has to get off a better shot at the end.
Free tri to NY with nothing to do..too bad.
If Tate is the team's second best player and is often said to be the " heart and soul " of the team, why was he not on the floor in the crucial last few minutes ?
The idiots in my household could not wait to rub it in my face... I will be glad when Basketball is over and football takes over. The expectations are too big for them too early. Let’s go back to just liking their efforts when they decide to show up. We have a fine coach that just needs the players that can be consistent. Good luck with that.
Plain and simple Coach Holtman, the B1G Coach Of The Year got Outcoached and Exposed again (third time by PSU).
I have said this all year long when up by 10-15 points some of these so called genius coaches can do no wrong. But when the game gets under two minutes and the score is close, suddenly adjustments aren't made along with poor decisions.
The real deal coaches show their knowledge of the game. After losing twice to PSU no adjustments were made and they were without their big man to boot. Meanwhile OSU has the COY, POY, one of the Top Freshmen, and a Second Team All B1G player.
They still can't figure it out or coach it out.
This was an epic fail. Lack of ball movement, nothing out of the last time out.
What was Andrew D doing out there at crunch time on D? Everyone at MSG knew KBD was going to get the ball in the waning moments. How about using him as a decoy? Send him to the bucket to rebound a possible miss with his length and put back ability. It worked at Purdue. Go Bucks?
This Is A Journey!
There is no excuse losing to the same team 3 times. What the fuck did they work on all week? Geez.
Fire Holtmann. They shouldn’t make the tournament. /s
Always remember that you are absolutely unique. Just like everyone else.
I am so proud of what this team has accomplished this year. Way over everyone's expectations. The lack of a dynamic - true point guard really hampers this team, especially down the stretch of tight games. We just don't get into any kind of offense.
