Personally I hope he can prove his innocence as I have no desire to see him burn. Can't say the same about a few other coaches in the cross hairs.

The pain of discipline or the pain of regret, take your pick

Well this is a juicy development.  Either:

1) There is no tape and ESPN is going to look incredibly stupid when the FBI investigation concludes with it never popping up

2) Said tape gets released and Miller looks incredibly stupid for being so arrogant and doubling down here

NCAA...what a racket. A bunch of wealthy old farts making Billions off the backs of kids. Maybe the system made sense back in the 50's, but like so many bureaucracies of it's ilk, it  crossed the point of diminishing returns decades ago. It's time for P5 conferences + ND to pull out and form their own system.

He's a cheat and can act ignorant to the all the shenanigans that go on around HIS program. Kobi Simmons was all set to commit to Matta and sign an LOI. Then all of the sudden Arizona who wasn't even in the recruiting picture for Simmons swoops in at the last minute and gets the kid to sign an LOI without him ever stepping foot on campus.

$omthing $eems $trange about how that all went down, $henanigan$.

I can't upvote that enough. It's all a show. The freaking FBI isn't lying about having 3000 hours of conversations. He's a dead man walking.

Gotta love it.

Miller is parsing the language to try and skate

The Yahoo story I believe said that he "discussed" a 100K payment.

Now he says he has never paid or directed payment to a recruit or his family.

Not he is not refuting he discussed it, he is only refuting that he paid it or directed someone to pay it.

maybe instead after discussing it, he directed a booster to call the 3rd party with a wink and nod knowing that the 3rd party would request and the booster would pay 100K

see i never paid or directed some one to pay.....

I don't think these two cases are anywhere near similar.

Just curious how they justify his actions.

I guess if you deny it loud enough and enough times will people actually listen ??

Update:  SI is now reporting that ESPN is going to be sued back to the stone age:

a source familiar with the college hoops corruption investigation confirmed with SI that the details of a wiretapped phone call involving Miller were inaccurately reported in a story by ESPN that said Miller “discussed paying $100,000 to ensure star freshman Deandre Ayton signed with the Wildcats.”

The U.S. Justice Department has a 93% conviction rate. They didn't get that by bringing charges without plenty of evidence. That being said, there is the possibility that false info was leaked by people with an agenda to hurt someone or something. To be determined.

They're all chickens. The rooster has sex with all of them.

They have a 93% conviction rate because they have unlimited resources and will bankrupt a defendant, so many plead guilty.

Also Sean Miller, from what I've seen, is not under investigation by the DOJ.  Even if he did what the ESPN report said, that's not a crime.  It's an NCAA violation.

Well, there is no middle ground for him now, that is for certain. He'll either sink or swim with the hand he has at this point.

Where there is smoke there's usually fire, but $100,000 for one player above and beyond a scholarship?

It seems far-fetched to me, but maybe I'm naive. I thought most kickback violations from boosters were free cars, spending money and a little more on the side for mom.
