Kerry Coombs returns to Ohio State as the team's secondary coach and defensive coordinator.
Wisky fans are nervous we might steal Mertz from them.

I sure as heck hope we do
Andrew, I’ve been hearing that they could take 2 QBs in this class or in 2020. If there’s a transfer and/or Haskins blows up this year and turns pro, there would only be 2 QBs on the roster. What are your thoughts?
Right now they've got 4 scholarship QB's. If one of them transfers in Spring, they're still in acceptable shape for this upcoming 2018 season. If nobody transfers, but Haskins leaves after one year, they're still in fine shape for the 2019 season. It's only if one transfers AND Haskins turns pro after only a year that they'll be in a tight squeeze in 2019 where they'd start to get into a real crunch.
That said, recruiting 2 QBs at once seems pretty tough simply because you can only play one guy at a time. So unlike other positions, elite QBs are usually turned off when they find you're seriously recruiting (or accepting the commitment) of another guy. At this early stage, the staff would probably love it if they could get two QBs, but when the rubber meets the road, it might not be really feasible.
Tisdale looks like a really great prospect to me. I’ve only seen highlights but he looks perfect for our offense.
He's also a winner having just won the Texas state championship.
Winning your state championship doesn't guarantee college success. If it did then the college football HOF would be filled with QB's from Moeller and St Ignatius. Those two schools have accounted for approx. 20 Ohio state titles and I can only recall two or three QB's that have gone on to having careers at big time D1 programs
Yeah not saying it guaranteed anything. Just pointing out that he can add that to his resume on top of everything else mentioned above.
Man, Grant Tisdale looks like the prototypical Urban read-option quarterback. If we land him, look to see a competition between him and the Baldwin Bus in the future...

Can Miller just reclassify to 2019 like JT Daniels did in 2018?
I really think the offense would do well to trend to players who are more pocket passers but can escape and get out and make plays with their legs when necessary. I really like the idea of that combination with the offense and talent we have.
Urban Meyer left an incredible legacy. 12/4/18 Ryan Day begins his.
I agree. We really could use an Aaron Rodgers, Cardale Jones, or Carson Wentz-type QB in this offense.
For real. Those are the players I was thinking of as I was typing that post.
I hope we choose to go in the direction of Gunnell, or someone other than Tisdale. If you liked watching the Barret offense than you probabaly disagree.
Because Tisdale is compared to JT, fans don't want him lol classic
Stupid fans, wanting more advanced passers.
Just because they want Grant Tisdale doesn't mean they aren't getting a good passing game. Urban won national titles with Leak, Tebow, JT/Cardale, and not one of those guys I would call an elite passer. Tisdale gets compared to JT and all of a sudden the JT haters come out and say nah don't want him. It's priceless.
Everything you say is always on point lol.
Jack Miller is going to be a beast throwing all over the field.
Nothing that comes easy is worth a dime.
I like getting one qb a year. Couldn’t go wrong with Tisdale for sure, but Mertz could take us to another level imo. Just gets all the talent involved. I’d like to see us trend more in that direction.

How about Riley Keller for 2020??

I was browsing 247.com to see top pro style Quarterbacks in 2019. The top guy is from Arizona and is committed to Oklahoma. I would like us to throw a little temptation his way. Why not at least try for the top guy ? Any QB with a pulse will see we are loaded but the best won't question their value.
Faster than JT....ugh just what I wanted to hear...

Next couple of years will be very interesting. Unless Burrow wins the job outright, I believe he will graduate transfer after spring ball. He can play immediately and will help a bunch of teams at QB, and we need to thin the roster to get under the schollie limit. That leaves Haskins and Martel as viable options for 2018 and I’ll be shocked if Haskins isn’t the starter with plenty of work for Martel in sub packages and mop up just to mess with the opposition. That gives Baldwin a year or 2 to grow into a Buckeye and if Haskins has a Heisman contender year and taps out we still have Martel for 2. After that we should have reloaded at the position. Also, if the coaches play to Haskins strengths, we will attract pro style QBs for the next couple of years. I think that’s the true unknown at this point: will we let Haskins play to his strengths?
Do you think the Buckeyes could snatch Graham Mertz if they made him the guy for the 2019 class? I can't tell if he's firmly committed to Wisconsin or would come to OSU if we put the heat on.
Mertz is getting big time offers every week now. I work with his dad. It will be extremely difficult to pull him from WI (IMO). He is headed there for a 3 day visit right now and has a tight bond with the coaches. He believes he has a shot to play as a freshman up there. I have no doubt he could right now. Stranger things have happened... insert Emory Jones.... I hope I'm wrong.
I Think Mertz is going to be a stud man. This kid can throw and he’s accurate. Also moves well in the pocket. Really liked what I seen in his drills video especially. Go check those out.
Andrew, why no discussion of Sam Howell? His tape looked unbelievable. Do we have no shot, or are we just not that into him?
Always intrigued by the people that post that say "have you seen this player or that player's film". Amazes me that someone can judge a high school kid's ability and talent by watching a 90 second film clip not even knowing the quality of the competition that they're playing against. If someone is that adept at judging a player based upon watching 90 seconds of film then they should be coaching on someone's sideline instead of typing about it on a keyboard
Watch 90 seconds of Randy Moss’ HS tape...you would be buying him a car too if you were a college coach.
And I'm quite sure that some people thought Joe Bauserman was OSU material based upon "90 seconds of film".
