Much activity in the video background

The bouncing Beckys are a bit distracting.

I'd rather be an hour early than a minute late.

It's a feature, not a bug.  Try muting the video and watching again.

I didn't hear a word Kendall said the first 4 times I watched the interview.  Finally snapped out of it on the fifth try......

Excellent start to what should be a very good 2018 for Kendall Sheffield.

I'm not around that much, running exhausted and lost...

I can't believe that he broke TOSU's all time record in the 60 with a walk-off performance. This is like a hobby to him and he is now the fastest ever in the event for the good guys. Amazing.

Always liked what track could do for a football player.

HS

also reveals what 'fast' and 'competitive fast' means... and breaks down the elements of 'start' and 'acceleration/burst'.

looking forward to a return to the heydays of yesteryear [early 1990s] with our sprint relay foursomes.

I kind of miss having the running track around the football field, before the Horseshoe expanded. It sent a clear message, "We honor fast players".

Good to see he has been given room to compete in track. I think he'll show big success next year in football and perhaps prove some former idiot players from alabama that he wasn't some sort of entitled freshman that expected too much his frosh year. He paid his dues for leaving prima donna land, happy hes excelling here.

Good morning, over coffee, Blackcoffee.

We just had a whole thing about commas, and now we are left with this excellent example of its necessity.

Lots of time at football practice. Lots of time at track practice. Lots of time in the training room. Sure hope there is time left over for classes and homework. Don't want any academic issues.

I'd rather be an hour early than a minute late.

Sheffield was an Academic All-Big Ten selection this past fall (meaning he had a 3.0 GPA or better at the time), so academics seemingly shouldn't be an issue with him. I didn't think to ask to clarify, but I would imagine the reason he only practices two days a week with the track team is because the other days conflict with his class schedule.

Thanks, Dan, for the info. Sounds like Sheffield has got his act highly squared away.

I'd rather be an hour early than a minute late.

Thanks for the info Dan - this guy clearly gets it. I suspect he'll do very well at life after football.

Go get'em Cal Poppy - we are behind you !!

It's not a rivalry .............. it's a wreckoning.

agree quality - attitude & learning methods - are major factors... as time ticks for everyone.

good example here that finding elements in common among endeavors, is a major 'quality' enabler in terms of efficient work/study.

Everyone says Okudah will be our best DB next year. I think Sheffield continues our 1st round DB legacy. Kid will be a stud, mark my words.

One mystery to me is why kamikaze pilots wore helmets.

HS
Buck68's picture

my WAG is our potential 'best' 2018 CB is between Sheffield & Wade.

a major question is what coverage and play-on-the-ball techniques our 'new' DB coaches favor.

IMO Sheffield showed a lot of mental toughness working through his mistakes on the field last year.  Conley, by comparison, took a year of 'mental rehab' after his 'far encounters' with MSU his first year at CB.

The DB competition should be fierce... and continual!

Fun fact....Both Sheffield and Ted Ginn ran the fastest 110 hurdles in America as seniors FWIW.

Let him return punts/KOs?

...wasn't Ginn's best 110 a 10.21?

Buck68

HS
CieGrant_Blitz's picture

Hurdles?  No.  That would be a world record by like 2 seconds or more... I believe that was his 100 meter dash time, though.

HS
cdub4's picture

His best 110HS time was 13.26w and 13.40 without wind. About the same as Sheffield.

Anybody remember the name Chris Nelloms?

HS

Ted Ginnessh speed in the hurdles and we don't get him the ball somewhere on special teams??????  Maybe he doesn't want to do it but wow on film..

HS

Funny, with Sheffield’s mention, I am now kind of missing 9-route.

HS

It seems like Ginn's low hurdle was one of the fastest in America too.

You gotta be a great athlete to be a great hurdler. Renaldo Neihimia & Willie Gault parlayed being world class hurdlers to NFL stardom back in the day.

Sheffield's willingness to work hard in two sports says a lot about him. Keep grinding, young man.

HS
McGrind's picture

Would like to see him get a shot on kick offs...that is serious football speed.

If you have nothing to hide you have nothing to fear.

HS
Buck68's picture

looking forward to the World of Football Speed Trials... at the end of spring ball...to count & compare the number of "serious".   ;-{)}

Agree that KOR is an easier, less risky play than PR.

Hopefully he'll be able to beat out Mike Weber for the job

Makes you think.. If Denzel Ward was considered the fastest guy on a team with Kendall Sheffield and Parris Campbell... how fast is Ward. I would not be surprised if Ward beats Curtis Samuel's time of 4.31 for the title of fastest Buckeye in Combine history

I've always been a fan of young men being multi-sport athletes.  Track and football complement each other well.  Maybe the best part is that a young man can't really compete in two sports unless he is highly self-disciplined.  Best wishes to Kendall.  Go Bucks!

HS

Good job Kendall. I wasn't sure how that time stacks up but today 6.37 was run in the indoors on TV.

Very happy when we got him last year. Love how he improved as the season went on. Interested to see how future CB’s will look without coombs. #NoRedBull

Go Bucks!

Urban likes to recruit 2 sport athletes. Even Urban himself played baseball in the minor leagues before football. Good choice for us.   http://www.thepostgame.com/blog/eye-performance/201502/wanna-play-footba...
