That’s SEC speed. Must have gotten that at Alabama.
You know damn well that's what they're going to say.

He played by far his best game against USC. He continues to play like that with the type of size and speed he has, and he will continue our run of first round DBs.
That boy fast!

About 1970, when at OSU, I saw the Buckeyes' indoor 60-meter record tied. Looking in the program, I learned that the record was held by a J.C. Owens, aka Jesse Owens. I was astonished that any track record could have lasted 35 years. And yet there it was. Still, on that day it was equaled—but not surpassed. Yet.
Our honor defend, so we'll fight to the end !
Good share, Ibuck. Thanks.

Broke a record that stood for 23 years? That alone is amazing.
Next step, turn and find the ball?
I knew it wouldn't take long to see comments like this.

Our guys were taught to play thru the hands of the WR. Agree, that I’d like to see them turn and play the ball more. It seemed to work when a guy like Ward could play in the hip pocket of the WR. Other guys like Arnette would play catch up and would run through the WR early and get PI. Will be interesting to see what Taver teaches vs Coombs.
so do y'all think a change will come with the addition of Coach Grinch?
“Save yourself and relax during every game. I recommend a fine bourbon.”
I’d think so.
True so true.
He probably didnt have the cb skills to play as a starter but his size and speed made him an obvious choice for Koombs. Probably wanted to give him the time develop through playing time.
Truth hurts for sunshine pumpers-the 16 DVers. Speed don't mean squat if you don't use it to make plays.
I wonder if he has any shake to go with that bake; he might be an interesting option as a kick returner.
Three things cannot be long hidden: the sun, the moon, and the truth.
Watch his JC film....Don't know why he wasn't seriously considered at OSU for either PR or KR.
I remember Urban saying that he was getting some of those reps during fall camp last year.
I've seen this video.
I watched his Blinn tapes... let the man return!

That's fast. NFL combine loves that speed
You know, I'm something of an athlete myself
I could probably do that in under 12 seconds
Yeah, me too. Then I’d win the puke fest and pull a hammy.

I can't even think that fast!
I'd rather be an hour early than a minute late.
His start out of the blocks was nearly perfect. Again, to all of my non-track friends, a 6.63 will translate into 4.2-4.3 territory at the combine.
This guy is the real deal. If he can continue his technical development this off-season, we have another Marshon Lattimore on our hands.
One step at a time. I like Sheffield and I think he probably started a year too early, but damn dude Marshon was about as good of a college corner as you get. Going to be hard to reach that level
I'd say closer to 4.3 rather than 4.2 but still really fast
Hard to say given the importance of reaction time in track, but irrelevance of it at the combine.
From a track article on John Ross 4.22 40 yard dash, they estimated his 60 m dash time to be in the 6.6- 6.65 range. So it's VERY possible Sheffield could run an official sub 4.3 at the combine. Samuel ran a 4.31.
They run it on field turf with a crown right (maybe not if indoors)? Look the guy is super fast, but translating speeds on a track to turf is a tough deal especially when dealing with times that fast.
They run the combine 40 on a track.
Because I couldn't go for 3.
You sure about that?
Curious how that time stacks up a guy like Ted Ginn Jr?
"Cry havoc, and let slip the dogs of war."
He's fast, but the dude gets lost in coverage. He was a liability in pass coverage and got the sense opposing teams would pick on him when he came in the game.
With that kind of speed there's no reason he shouldn't be a shutdown corner. A don't throw it my way or else type of corner.
Those coverage stats... ouch.
The guys got all the physical ability in the world, but there are ton of freak athletes at the CB position that for one reason or another just can’t play the position very well. I definitely expect him to make a big step this season and turn into an above average CB, maybe even elite, but he’s got a lot of work to do. Arnette gets more flack, but this dude got flat out picked on at times. Gonna light up the combine though.
Wonder what he’d do in track and field full time. Extremely impressive.
Yet Mike Weber returns kickoffs.
Maybe it's because he has such great hands?
I like to see Mike Weber run between the tackles and use his good vision to gain yards. Its hard to beat Dobbins at running back, but I would agree that Weber is best utilized when in a running back situation.

Sheffield also recorded the fastest time in the preliminary round of the 60-meter dash, completing the event in 6.69 seconds in his first run of the night, which you can watch below.
Don Brown must've attended night school, because he got owned by Day.
Always knew he was fast, but....
Can't freaking wait to see him on the field next year. He was an impact guy the moment he stepped foot on campus
Congratulations and best wishes to Kendall Sheffield in next week's B1G Indoor Track Championship. . Go Bucks!
I would love to see this race with only 300-plus heavyweights
Sheffield was not looking back on pass protection. That is going to change this year.
The runner to his right also. They must not have been very strict on the false starts at this meet.
But, but Coach Coombs is the bestest CB coach ever-how on earth could we have a starting CB who had bas technique!!!!!!!!!!!
Looks like he false started.
No it was the guy next to him that twitched. Ironically it may have helped him because he might have reacted to the movement and the gun fired at just the right time.
Sheffield steadily improved as the season went on. If he continues that trajectory he will have a big season next year
"You win with people" — Woody Hayes
Okudah is already better then Arnette IMO. Sheffeild on the other hand looks like he is finally going to be the lock down guy the coaches thought. 2nd year for this speedster is a whole new world. He was the best CB in JUCO. That's no real coaching and all talent. 2 year learning at DBU and I think he will be our next 1st rounder. Bank on it.
Said this yesterday on the predictions story. Stand by it again. Turning and finding the ball is one of the steps that make a great corner and Shef will have this down by the time the B1G games begin. He has the hips that are starting to limber up as he showed in the last 3 games of last year. This along with his speed is why i believe that he will vault to a first rounder. Grinch will polish him up. Arnette on the other hand. Meh, not so much.

I feel like he would play better at safety.
Fastest time this year in the BIG, but only 14th fastest in the country? Damn there are a lot of fast dudes out there.
To err is human. Really sucking requires having yellow stripes on your helmet.
Taver Johnson is smiling. Sheffield is just one of the superior talents he gets to mold.
Winning is a habit. Unfortunately, so is losing.
Oh boy, next year's defense is going to be gooooooood!
Again. Need LBs to show up.
did you see him come out the blocks. most sprinters practice and practice that to get the jump. I doubt he practices as much as the men there just for track. He came out the blocks perfect and had a step on everyone. The last 20 meters looked like he pulled away a little.
The film wasnt the greatest but I think he can get better. His start and finish looked dominating. When he finally gets into his sprint motion he looks like he maintained his lead but didn't expand it until last 20. So maybe he can improve on his middle. But for a guy who probably doesn't practice a ton that is incredible.
He looks skinny in his football uniform, but completely jacked in the track suit. It is all just a matter of comparables.
At least he doesn't have to worry about fans yelling at him to turn his around in this sport.
“Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats.”
Technique can be learned. But record speed is >50% gift. Go Kendall.
Excellent sprinter start. First five steps Kendall keeps his head down and out in front. Reminds me of the way Teddy Ginn built up a head of steam for his footraces.
Can't coach height in basketball. Can't coach fast twitch and raw speed in track. They are natural gifts.
