One thing I appreciate most about the current staff and players is that they never seem to take this game lightly. I have no sympathy for TTUN, but it's the Game. Anything can happen, so they have my respect. And somehow, we've only lost twice since 2000.
Yep...and as long as Urban is at the healm it will stay that way. He knows what matters as HC of Ohio State.
You're too stupid to have a good time. -Dalton
Wish all fans felt that way. 1 undefeated season, 1 national champ, 1 tourney and 1 just outside top 4 and people complain. I love what he has done and have enjoyed the whole ride.
twice just outside top 4...
Bucks were 7th in final CFP standings in 2015... by one last second field goal to the B1G champs.
Just to play the Devil's advocate here. It's because our standards are high thanks to Jim Tressel, who at this point in their tenures, has done more than Urban with less talent. This will be Urbans' seventh year, he's been to one national title with a chance at his second coming this year. Jim went to THREE in that same time span with LESS TALENT.
I think people would be more forgiving if the QB run wasn't so forced. It cost us a shot a two titles after losing to Michigan State each time, and the second time the ball was kept out of the hands of the best running back in the entire nation (both college and NFL). It's awful hard to accept the second one.
Stop abandoning the running backs.
2011 didn't count lets be real

Purdue's last win vs the Buckeyes was also 2011...
I have sympathy for the Browns, not for Michigan.
Remember we only won 31-20 this year (thanks to Haskins)
So we're just gonna pretend like #16 didn't rally the troops from a 14-0 deficit & was going to lead US to victory? Oh i forgot, Haskins throws the receivers open and plays defense as well. My bad.
Let it go man. Haskins won us that game. JT did not. JT is gone, let him go and let this argument die.
Wrong. The players that played won us that game. That includes both Haskins and JT. We needed the comeback from 14 down and Hastins heroics. We have no idea how that game pans out if JT or Haskins play the whole game. Keep spouting fake narratives if it makes you feel better about your opinions, the rest of us will focus on what actually happened.
You are entitled to you own opinion, not your own facts.
I'm just thankful that we had that kind of talent on the bench ready to come into that pressure cooker and thrive while doing it. JT played a big part in that win too.
Lol, mentioning JT in a thread is like dropping an incendiary bomb on the conversation.
Urban Meyer >Jim Harbaugh for ever and ever, Amen. 0
What fake narratives? Haskins came in down 6 and lead 3 scoring drives for the win. Thats not a shot at JT or a fake narrative. That actually happened. Nobody took a shot at JT. Take your condescension elsewhere. JT is no longer on the team, so we no longer need to argue JT vs Haskins. Let the argument die.
@ Michibuck, Haskins winning us the game is the fake narrative. You suffer from the myopic recency-primacy bias. We needed the 14 point comeback before that to put Haskins in that position for him to be heroic. And some defense stops. And UM screwing up/not taking advantage. You know this is true because if you add up the points that Haskins's drives produced it isn't enough to win the game. It really isn't more complicated than this.
Did Haskins not come in when we were down 6 points? Did he not lead 3 scoring drives at the end? Theres nothing fake about it. Nobody is saying JT didn't play a role, or that he doesn't deserve any credit. But when the chips were on the table, Haskins is the one that played the hand. That doesn't in any way diminish what JT did. This isn't about JT, and its certainly not about Haskins vs JT. Why is that so difficult for you to understand?
Not hard to understand at all. You overvalue what happens at the end of the game at the expense of what occurred before. Much like the people who think Cardale won us a title because he was the starter in the last three games not realizing that without the efforts in the games before it, there would have been no title. Just say Haskins played a key role in helping us win that game rather than saying Haskns won it. Problem solved.
Snnnap!! Great point.
Well said, Nut. The team needed both young men.
I survived Cooper, and I hate Tai Streets.
JT got hurt and therefore did not have the opportunity to finish and potentially win the game. Yes, Haskins contributed to the win. Good for him. And it's hard to let the argument die when people are taking potshots like "Remember we only won 31-20 this year (thanks to Haskins)". Let it die? You first.
I aim to misbehave.
He didn't just contribute he won that game!
MICHIGAN STILL SUCKS
Played defense and special teams, too, did he? Must have missed that.
no he didn't play defense but we were down 20-14 when JT got hurt, so in order to win you have to score.Haskins came in cold off the bench and took the team right down the field and we scored the go ahead TD. And lead the team on 2 more scoring drives in the 4th. A third ended in a missed FG. The team responded to him and the coaches were not afraid of him throwing the ball. Which really was a head scratcher that we didn't see him at all in the BCG with JT coming of surgery just 6 days prior to the game.
Lets look at the facts. JT 2 scoring drives in 8 attempts and fell behind and Haskins 3 of 4 and only because we missed a very makeable FG and gets the win. I have doubts(not fact) that JT equals that but he contributed to the win.
Nobody is taking shots at JT. Relax.
Funny that your request to drop the argument is followed by a perpetuation of the argument.
Well, a good QB can throw receivers open by making on time, accurate throws away from the defender.
From the time Haskins came in until the end of the game, UM had ONE first down. (If you take away the 3 or 4 they had on their last drive with 90 seconds left and OSU up two scores and in prevent.) The defense was the big hero IMHO.
I never said that. I said we won thanks to Haskins, who was there to relieve Barrett. You're living up to your name.
Recall: The Buckeyes rebounded from a slow start that included a 14-0 deficit and a negative yardage total at the end of the first quarter. Quarterback J.T. Barrett got the offense going with his legs, totaling 67 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries before leaving the game with an injured right knee in the third quarter. Dwayne Haskins took over for Barrett. Haskins was great, completing 6-of-7 passes for 94 yards and adding a couple of good designed runs that kept the defense honest after Barrett's exit
Saying we won thanks to Haskins is just another way of saying what he said.
We won thanks to all the efforts of the players who played including Haskins. Stop spinning false narratives.
Wow, Nut, you've come a long way since I last saw you...now you're giving Haskins SOME credit for what he came in and did! Some progress is better than nothing.
I was at the game, when J.T. went down, a _ichigan fan behind me asked who the backup was (what a dummy, I knew their 2 deep) anyway I said “ Haskins, he can spin it and we will win” he gave me a funny look and said “ thanks”. I must say the _ichigan fans as a whole were pretty cool before, during and after the game. But fuck them
It features a dozen 3-star recruits, which is as many as the Buckeyes have signed over their past three classes combined
Is this what Michigan fans meant when they said "Just wait till he get's his players" ?
"¯\_(ツ)_/¯" - Joey Bosa
Jim isn't the savior of Michigan football and their fans are starting to realize it. I don't know what's going on up there but it's obvious that Harbaugh seems slightly disinterested and tired of it.
I was slightly concerned when he was hired-that he actually could revitalize the program. Not anymore.

”He”, Harbaugh, being the anointed one. I agree. And I think this recruiting cycle is a true barometer of what’s in store for TTUN. I, also thought he was a great hire. But Harbaugh lost that 2016 game. And his press conference after the game was deplorable as well as shocking. Let’s face it, TTUN is going to be a top 20 recruiting class for the foreseeable future no matter who is coaching the team. I understand the feeling of misgivings the fan base is having. It is well founded.

Concur. We have a traitor in our midst.
Somebody just loves me--That's all! After all, it is Valentine's Day.
It would also make me happy if we could beat them 10 more games in a row so that we are on the positive side for all time wins and have the longest winning streak instead of their 9 game streak from 1901 to 1909.
During this ten game winning streak if Urban can just say fuck it one time and win by 87 points or more so the largest margin of victory in The Game will not show ttun 87- OSU 0. Screw them, a score from 1902 should not be able to make any of us cringe ever again.
That's how winners play. We convince the other guy he's making all the right moves.

I personally feel nothing but joy watching them squirm while becoming more and more comfortable with mediocrity. None of their failures on or off the field will ever elicit an ounce of pity from me. To modify a quote from the movie Tommy Boy: "They're a smug unhappy little bunch and they treat people like they're idiots."
I know there's a game Saturday, and my ass will be there.
I Believe In Ohio State.
I am on same page. A ttun grad could have a nice job and life in general, but if he has to face a Buckeye fan and get reminded that it has been 2272 days since anne arber community college has beaten Ohio State, well, he is now miserable man.

I'm constantly conflicted between wanting some semblance of competition between the two teams restored and wanting us to continue the beat-down that has been the last 18 years and has kept all their fans quiet as church mice. I don't think TTUN accomplishes the former with Harbaugh as their HC though so onward with the slaughter!
How Firm Thy Friendship
85yards, this is why I want Michigan to be ranked every year when we play them. And beat them. I want them to be good, and then the week of The Game they start to get that Dread.
I work in Ann Arbor, and I'll tell you, the last few years, The Dread is real.
I want Michigan to be ranked every year when we play them ... I want them to be good
In order for them to be ranked they have to win games. Winning games fills their fans with hope, joy and confidence. Maybe I'm just a sadistic SOB but the only time I want them filled with hope, joy & confidence is at the end of the season when they realize their team won't be playing (and thus losing) anymore games until next season. I want them despondent, downtrodden, miserable and utterly defeated.
THAT would hurt so much more than your notion of them riding high and feeling good about themselves 364 days of the year.

Oh, please, oh please, let it be.
I've been watching The Game since 1967. I want to see OSU exceed UM in the head to head win column during my lifetime. Ten more and we're ahead.

My concern with the diminishing product on the field is that the rivalry may be lost in the current younger generation and future generations. When I came up, you dropped what you were doing to be present in the rivalry. Surgery scheduled? Cancel it. Opportunity for a trip of a lifetime but there are no TV's? Sorry give it to someone else. Sooner or later if the trend continues, for the kids that are now 10 years old, Michigan will just be the team we play the last game of the season if it's not beat into their heads by their parents (my kids know to hate Michigan, I remind them regularly). Make it competitive, maybe I don't want them to beat us, but maybe I want to see them coming into the game every once in a while undefeated or at least ranked in the top 10. No more pre-season champ talk for Michigan. Until they can prove that they can last through a season, I'm tired of hearing about them.
We live in Ontario. Visit family in Ohio often. Every trip, we stop at the Michigan Welcome Center (heading north or south) to piss on Michigan...it's a family tradition! Ohio State & its fans are literally keeping the Rivalry Alive.
I love it, teach the kids. Any kid you encounter, list 5 reasons to hate Michigan.
Well, that falls on parents to make sure their kids never forget it. My 6yr old daughter and 3yr old son know who we hate in our house...All I have to yell is “Go, Ohio...” and I’ll hear a “Beat Michigan” come from somewhere in the house.
MAYBe the rivalry is our gift and not theirs. What do you want more—preservation of the rivalry or wins over TTUN? Choose carefully because they are indeed mutually exclusive, at least some years.
I'm just hoping for all the above....if that's possible? Haha.
But what does that mean? Because 3 of the last four or five went down to wire.
Meaning Michigan comes in with less than 2 losses and a higher ranking than the 20's range. Without them coming in on their way to their November meltdown that has become the norm in the Harbaugh era.
I prefer my grand-kids someday to sit by my side and remark during the Game - "Papa is REALLY old - he can remember when TTUN was good!!"
You can put me in the "No sympathy for the devil," camp.
Just this morning a TTUN fan friend from grade school texted me with trash talk about OSU's basketball team. They can suck forever, 'cuz it never gets old for me.
And one other thing: I think recruits are really turned off by Harbaugh's creepy karma that he gives off. They can sense something isn't right with that guy, upstairs.
"If you're not changing, you're falling behind."
Is it a once or twice a year thing that he texts you? And for the sole purpose of shit talking? I have a few of those. They never text to hang out or even see how I'm doing. They only text to talk shit. The best part of this run the Buckeyes have been on is that I very rarely hear from those ass hats anymore.
I posted the video on Facebook of the two OSU basketball players paying homage to the Olympics, mimicking the olympic curling event on the OSU basketball court with the Libman Swiffers and basketball. You may have seen it.
So I have this Michigan fan as a friend on FB(that I've known since 5th grade, but haven't seen for 25 years) and he makes a degrading comment about the OSU basketball player's sexual orientation, if you know what I mean.
I reminded him that OSU's basketball team is in first place in the B1G. Nothing but crickets after that.
If I could do a GIF this is where I would insert the picture of the Irish guy saving Sir William Wallace from the traitor saying "I didn't like him anyway. He wasn't right in the head".
I don't buy one goddam drop of gas in the state of Michigan!
I have absolutely no sympathy for them. And quite frankly, I think they are standing at the edge of the abyss right now. Their last two coaches have been miserable failures. If Jim Harbaugh continues on the downward trajectory they are currently on, I don't think they ever recover. I think they are on the edge and one more step backwards and they fall into the abyss forever with the likes of the Oklahoma States, Virginia Tech's, UCLA's and all the other programs that float from terrible to pretty good, but never great. And I would love nothing more than to see this years Buckeyes be the ones to push them over that edge.
I have no sympathy for them whatsoever and I will appreciate the Buckeyes beating them in every game until the sun explodes.
I saw Ryan Day hang 62 on Michigan...His hair was perfect.

I never truly "hated" TTUN until that day. Their trash talking, douche fans were horrible. From that day forward, my two favorite teams are Ohio State and whomever is playing Mishegoon.
in that first gif, Stanley Jackson, I presume!
What is "being Michigan again"? I'm not even sure what that might mean anymore, but I hope it never means beating our beloved Buckeyes again. I've gone back and forth on the "I hope they're good right up until we play them" thinking. But this year I think I'm hoping they're good until we beat them by 45 in late November, because I think that would crush their souls just a little more.

Fuck Michigan. That is all.
I spend the majority of my school day on 11W
TTUN suffers from the (nearly) exact same malady as Notre Dame. They are a fading brand, both hired 50 year old coaches (give or take a year or 5) with NO head coach championships in their past, paid them Saban / world class money, and expected Saban/world class results. Problem is, past performance predicts future behavior, and both Harbaugh (and Kelly) are doing what they have always done, which is displaying mediocrity. All you ever had to do, for both Kelly and Harbaugh, is look at what they had accomplished as head coaches before their hiring, and you are getting EXACTLY what that history showed. Unfortunately for both schools, $ 7 or $ 8 million a year starts to pose some prickly questions when you are losing 3 and 4 games per year in big time college football. Oh well, they are both jerks, which is yet another common denominator... O-H....
IO. Think the Irish are a bit above the Weenies but I take your point. I'll say it again, this just may be their last real chance to change the equation for quite a while, maybe ever. I don't want them to be horrible but I'm fine with mediocre and losing every game against us by 20 or more.
Don't be too kind to the Irish, their continued arrogance, even in the middle of constant mediocrity, is staggering. I'll give Kelly a single prop, he does appear to be winning those pesky HOME GAMES against the service academies and un-ranked Northeast / Big East teams. Those losses were such a treat to watch when Fat Charlie was driving the tug-boat... That end of game deer in the headlights look is missed....
We hold the conference head to head record but we do not yet hold the head to head record. There is still some reckoning to do.

"Ohio State will measure itself against Michigan's superior ghosts whenever the current form isn't a strong enough analog, because that's how rivals operate."
No, we never measure ourselves against them. They measure where they are against us and it ain't pretty.
What stands out to me is how many of their fans have given up. When you watch replays of last year's game in AA, you can see scarlet jerseys all around their stadium.
As for UM's teams, they seem to lack fire. It's as though "winningest program 100 years ago" and "top 5 public school" will win games. It will not.
Urban Meyer, the team and the OSU fanbase have more intensity about The Game. That's why we win.
"We get paid to score touchdowns, not kick field goals"

I've been to the last two versions of The Game in Ann Arbor. Two of the most satisfying sports experiences of my life. Those arrogant bastards deserve every ounce of misery they receive.
You'd think getting your ass handed to you over and over and over would instill a little humility. Nope. Still arrogant condescending pricks.
The day they learn a little humility is the day I'll consider showing sympathy. So basically never.
"Everyone has a plan, 'til they get punched in the mouth."
Carr was at the end of his run (he deserves greater reverence in AA), RichRod was a bad fit, Hoke was a bad hire (likeable guy, but being honest).
My sympathies ended somewhere along those lines, if they ever existed at all.
Hello to any visitors from Mgo.
I had to run away high, so I wouldn't come home low...
Although I think Rich Rod is a decent coach, I don't think he realized that he could recruit non 3 star players. He recruited like he was still at West Virginia.
Hoke, I think is a likable guy, and a mediocre coach. I think he hired more mediocre coaches. Although I think Madsen is was his best, one good coach can't turn a program around. It takes a team of Kerry Coombs recruiters.
Harbaugh is a good coach, but I don't think he hired great recruiting assistants, and that is pretty obvious. I think Harbaugh's weirdness rubs recruits the wrong way.
Like you, I have zero sympathy for UM, Zero, I lived through the cooper era and they can simply get better or suck it. Let them have their Pre-Big10 records. If they didn't have 1897-1918 they wouldn't have anything to be happy about, and even most of those wins were back before facemasks, and before touchdowns were 6 points. Screw that team up north, I enjoy their dumpster fire.
The lord of brevity.
Let them have their Pre-Big10 records.
You hit the nail on the head. Once both schools officially joined the Big10 TOSU has at least a 2 game lead. It might be 3 now with last year's win.

I don’t care how bad they are or appear to be...it will never calm my nerves on the morning of The Game. I’m split on the whole “we need a good TTUN” argument...I see both sides. Neither guarantees a victory in The Game though, because records truly don’t matter. I’d personally love to see 42-13 every year, no matter how good they are.
One thing is for certain...I’ll never pity that team and it’s fans.
We need good conference opponents but it does not have to be ttun. 42-13 for the good guys every year works for me. If they happen to be highly ranked when it happens, great. If not, do not care. The idea of them having to be good for the Big Ten to be viewed as good is no longer relevant except for the lovers of ancient history. It is not the Big 2 and little rest of the conference any more. PSU coming into the league hurt them a lot more than it hurt the Buckeyes.
I love that I first read your comment as I spit on the "we need a good TTUN" argument. I like it that way much better.

I don't think it's too much of a stretch to connect the decline of the team(s) to the decline of the state of Michigan. Living in Toledo, I get a first-hand glimpse into the general condition of the state's entire infrastructure. It is basically an insolvent state without the money to repair roads, remove snow (which equals out because the roads are gravel anyway), or keep from poisoning its municipal water. While the university may still be very high quality and the lakeside towns are great for summer vacation rentals, it's a truly depressing sight when you at much of the state just crumbling. I can understand how in-state recruits don't want to stay there. How do you make that pitch to a 4 or 5 star in the Detroit area? Pride in their statehood and playing for the mediocre program that they grew up watching?
Being from Toledo, I can't say all of this with an heir of superiority; more like, an understanding. But definitely not sympathy. I hope ttun keeps losing their rivalries and finishes 8-5 for the rest of time. Just good enough to keep it in that "maybe" territory, but always falling short.
I once handed Archie Griffin the keys to his loaner car.
I'm from Toledo as well, and I get to Michigan for work frequently, and have relatives and friends there.
The state of Michigan is NOT a poor state. In fact they are one of the wealthiest. The auto industry has brought them much wealth. All i see on I-75 heading south to Florida for the winter are retired auto workers in their $150,000-$300,000 diesel pusher motorhomes.
They have the worst roads in tbe country, but the problem is their elected officials are corrupt and mismanage taxpayer $, and that's as far as I'm going with that.
Corrupt elected officials mismanaging taxpayer money...sounds just like everywhere else. They definitely took it to a new level with the lead poisoning. That took some effort.
Perhaps I should update my profile signature to "Zero (0) research has been performed to support any points made in this comment." That is the case with my comment as well. Appreciate the supporting info, too.

I understand the argument advocating for a strong ttun. It is grounded in this theory:
Those who subscribe to it would encourage ttun to keep trying.
To that I say,
It should not matter whether ttun is successful, as long as tOSU IS successful.
In fact I wallow in the pure joy provided by their misery and ineptitude, and celebrate things like a defeat at the hands of mighty App St.

Stanley Jackson "threw" that game away, if you know what I mean. I am convinced to this day that Stanley was paid off by bookies to throw that game.
Late first quarter score still 0-0 ball at the UM 33 1st and 10 ie already long FG range, Jackson fumbles to give the ball to UM at mid field. But UM cant do anything with it and they punt. May have cost us 3 points and gave them a huge momentum swing.
Its not until mid 2nd quarter that UM starts to move the ball and gets a TD, followed by Woodson's punt return for a TD so it is 13-0.
OSU starts the 2nd half with a drive to the UM 7, 2nd and goal before Jackson throws a pick in the end zone, drive killed. That's at lest 3 more points lost and possibly 7
The very next snap he takes is the 43 yard pick 6, 20-0. he wont see the field the rest of the game
OSU gets a TD on a Germaine pass and then recovers a fumble on UM's next possession but we eventually punt, the next UM possession ends in another fumble recovery which we do punch in to make it 20-14 with 13 minutes left.
But we would make only 1 more drive past mid field and that would be the final score.
His fumble ended a promising early drive and could have led to potential points for UM, his first INT took at least 3 if not 7 points off the board for the Bucks and the last INT to this day is inexplicable as no OSU receiver is within eye shot of his throw and of course gave them another 7.
If he just throws away those 2 INTs, OSU wins that game 17-13 at a minimum and possibly 24-13.
I got so mad I lost an OSU hat I had on that day as I was watching in a sport bar in Charlotte, NC and threw my hat across the car in disgust and never got it back.
I swore that day I would never root for OSU again until Cooper was gone and stood by that fact until the day Tressel was hired and made his famous half time speech.
Stanley Jackson was just being Stanley Jackson. He was horrible, every game. If anybody was throwing a game, it was Coop, with his moronic platooning of Germaine and Jackson. Locker Room politics aside, Germaine was 5X the quarterback Jackson was.
John Cooper starting Stanley Jackson over Joe Germaine was is one of those #@%! inexplicable mysteries. Weak zoo keeper letting the animals run the zoo?
Ua Mau ke Ea o ka 'Aina I ka Pono. The life of the land is preserved in righteousness. (Hawai'i state motto) Aloha nui kakou.
Cooper wasnt the only one that did that. Joe Bauserman actually started for Ohio State.
It's a what have you done for me lately sport. Recruits don't care what your program did 10 years ago, much less 100 years ago. That's too bad for UM.
As I recall, Cooper had good teams, but couldn't beat ❌Ichigan. It cost him at least 1 national championship, but his team's were ranked. ❌Ichigan fell outfit the rankings.
Shit. Show. Remember back when people were like "Jim Harbaugh is a great coach like Urban Meyer?" hahahahahahahhaa
Round on the ends and "HI" in the middle. O-HI-O.
I have no sympathy for Michigan ever. I enjoyed the 2008 42-7 smashing as much as the 2016 OT thriller. If they lose I’m happy no matter what the records. I never want them back. College football will evolve as it always has when teams fall off the map. The rivalry is still as fiery and intense when they suck. Here’s to another two decades of misery for them.
I wondered why recruits keep picking Michigan. Then it happened, this season zero top-100 recruits picked Michigan. I think this is the beginning of them falling off the cliff.
Harbaugh has kept that program going on hype for 3 years but after a decade without results even teenagers will start seeing through the hype. Let's bury Michigan dead and end the rivalry once and for all!
Go Piss n' Blew!
2-15 is SWEET!
16-2 is SWEET!
Excellent read! Thank you!

Recruits are realizing TTUN is one of the most over rated college football programs in existence today with a borderline nut job coach. Would you play for a program with a proven track record of modern futility? Consider TTUN's list of recent short comings:
Last outright Big Ten title: 2003 (OSU-2017)
Last shared title: 2004
Number of Big Ten Title game appearances: 0 (OSU-2-1)
TTUN short comings continued from earlier post
Number of College Playoff Games:0. (OSU 2-1, 2014 champ)
Number of BCS title games- 0 (OSU 1-2, 2002 Champ)
Last outright Nat Champ-1949, (OSU-2014)
Number of claimed Nat Champs: 11, (OSU-8)
NUMBER OF NAT CHAMPS AFTER THE START OF THE KOREAN WAR -1 shared title-1997, (OSU-7)
Who's got it better than them? OSU for one and in a big way. How do you convince a recruit to come to Michigan? It's awesome, isn't it?
Said it before...but next year on and off the field is huge for ttun...will determine if they compete with OSU or become Iowa with a winged money canon
If you have nothing to hide you have nothing to fear.
Hang on just a minute there, sonny! I smell a whiff of sympathy, a pinch of TTUN apologist, and a large helping of reason and logic in this shitigan puff piece....hmmm.
Generally speaking, I’m for all of the above. But when it comes to TTUN, FCK *ichigan!
I honestly think Michigan football glory days are over. They were once a pretty good team for about 10 years but since 2000 they have pretty much sucked and these HS players do not know of the Michigan glory days. The Harbaugh impact came and went. They are back to mediocre and I think they stay that way. They may compete for a BIG title about once/twice a decade but will never be competitive on a yearly basis.
Harbaugh had the recruiting momentum with 2 top 10 classes but with this 2018 class it was 1 step forward and 2 steps back. I think the schedule they have this year is going to be another 9-3, 8-4 season which will not help recruiting in 2019.
I hope they suck forever. We don't need them to be a strong program to help us in any way. If we end up passing them in the overall series record in next decade (which I think we will do) and then running away with it the decade after, that is perfect. Our success isn't tied to theirs and they are in a much weaker overall position than we are. We have a geography advantage, a winning advantage, a public awareness advantage, a coaching advantage, I could go on and on. ttun has always relied on recruits from Ohio to keep them going and there just isn't any reason to believe they will start to win head to head battles with OSU for very many of those at all.
I hope TTUN goes 0-12 every. single. year! I hope I am still on the right side of the earth when Ohio State rips away the last piece of their soul as they move past them to become the team with the most wins in college football! That will be a glorious, glorious day my Buckeye friends!
The best thing about Pastafarianism? It is not only acceptable, but advisable, to be heavily sauced
I hope *ichigan loses every game in every sport. Plain and simple. They deserve to be bottom feeders from here on out. MSU can take their place as a worthy opponent.
Its good to be the king
I think Penn State has become a bigger adversary across all sports than Michigan.
Sympathy is not something I am capable of as far as they go. No sympathy, no mercy, no pity. EVER.
Not when they quit football for fear of the Buckeyes.
Not when they fill the Big outhouse with cement.
Not when they weep at the word 'Ohio.'
Not when they color their pants 'maize' at the sight of Scarlet and Gray.
Not when I'm being buried and my family is singing Carmen Ohio over my grave.
hey wolverines -- if you are looking for SYMPATHY it is in the dictionary between SHIT and SYPHILIS
There's no reason to predict things are going to change any time soon. There's no reason, even as a Michigan fan, to predict success next season. I am shattered enough that at this point, I will believe things have changed after they've actually changed. It is pointless to make excuses, and to think that things are going to get better any time soon.
HOWEVER . . . strange things happen. Key injuries to OSU, scandal (look at MSU), getting caught doing something wrong, exceeding expectations, for OSU to do much worse than expected. All I will say is that Harbaugh takes the rivalry seriously, as do the players. It will take some luck and some circumstances, which I won't anticipate, but Michigan will get to the top of the hill or die trying.
As an aside, I have been visiting 11W almost never. Between not really being welcome, which is just fine, and your dominance, and just life, there's no point to wander over here. I'm happy for you guys, but I'm not a glutton for punishment. Enjoy the ride, which seems like it will last a long time.

They do indeed, Blu. This Buckeyes fan isn't so smug as to think that TOSU is forever going to go thru a season unscathed leading up to The Game. That's why I'm always on pins and needles whenever late November rolls around.
Appreciate your perspective, even at the risk of slings and arrows. Don't be a stranger.

The words of an experienced OSU fan. Unless you lived through the Ten Year War and/or the Cooper Saga, your Buckeye perspective was formed in a bubble...a relative 'walk in the park' and not in reality. If college football survives the issues at hand (as Ramzy pointed out so well), TSUN will be back seeking their pound of Buckeye flesh, even if they have to hire yet another Ohio Man to do it.
scandal (look at MSU)
Deflect much? I take (passive/aggressive) issue with this Blu. I have spent decades listening to my lifelong UofM friends/brothers hounding me about OSU paying its "thug players" to attend an inferior U to major in communications or general studies, and the horrible scandal of so-called Tat-gate, and the long annual gloat during the John Cooper years, etc. and now you, a complete stranger, are doing the same thing.
Sorry, but I'm sick of the perennially unjustified arrogance & self-righteous BS of TSUN fans. UofM has had its share of ongoing issues since B. Gibbons/T. Lewan, and Top 25 schools for player arrests-2015, and...and...etc. while you guys relished in the 'free enterprise' violations of a few Buckeye players that led to the demise of Coach Tressel, and our own sad list of arrests & violations...(and let's not miss the real possibility that UofM may still find some skeletons in its own closet from UofM grad Larry Nassar's serial abuse scandal (just 2+2...no actual evidence or insight). You, pointing to 'little brother' as the example of "scandal" just pisses me off.
All schools that bring in unknown recruits run the risk of scandal. OSU has had its share and may well have some going on right now that none of us know about...but you see, this is the difference between most Buckeye fans that I know and seemingly ALL UofM fans...you guys simply do not avail yourselves of these opportunities to gain some humility & institutional self-actualization. (Example: If I was UofM's prez right now, you can bet we'd be looking into Nassar's record while in AA, and not to cover it up- I doubt this is happening). There really 'seems' to be a culture up there of systematic ignorance about your own shortcomings, while claiming superiority because of ancient history. NewsFlash: all Michigan Men are Human & scarlet or blue underwear do not whiten teeth.
PS - I for one have enjoyed having your input here sometimes. I hope you will not leave permanently. It takes a unique Blu person to tread these boards for as long as you have. Cheers!
I won't further identify myself, but I actually agree with you . . . this should be a time when Michigan examines itself, to avoid what happened with Nassar. I haven't heard peep about Nassar while he was in Ann Arbor, but it should definitely be investigated. As for Michigan, I believe they are among the worst in terms of FOIA requests (freedom of information act.) That's something that needs to improve. They did dump Gibbons, who was not a good actor. And Harbaugh cut loose a guy on the football team who made a decidedly bad and wrong decision.
I also agree that far too many Michigan fans have been too full of themselves and of Michigan. They need a huge dose of humble pie, and haven't eaten enough of it yet.
My main point is that we don't know what is coming down the pike in terms of injuries, scandals, academic performance, substance abuse, miscalculation of actual ability, early entry to the NFL, etc., etc., etc. Right now, Michigan is so far behind, it will take a combination of those kinds of things for Michigan to win. And the number of coincidences that are necessary is really too great. Imhe.
As regards MSU, I think that ESPN is going to be digging into this, and not letting it go. But I've been wrong before. It could end up amounting to nothing. There was something else ESPN put out today about a freshman on the basketball team. I get the feeling that MSU and ESPN are going to be going at each other for a bit.
I’m probably the minority here, but I love when TTUN is good. Then we beat them. Like 2006 was great and then going to the game last year was the best sporting event in my life. It’s so much more fun to be the reason they aren’t playing in the national championship game (or the college football playoff)
The day we don't fear the devil is the day we are lost. My biggest fear is that we lose our fear. We wrap ourselves in our success and we forget or don't believe the devil is for real and that is when we are taken. When we believe who we are is better then who they are and indifference sets in. It comes with our experience and how impressed we are with what we have done. It comes with star ratings that say we are so much better. Arrogance and pride pleased to meet you as I lay your souls to waste...

May they suck for 1000 years. No sympathy at all.
I’ve been to two buckeye games in my life. Kent state in 2002 and The Game in 2014. We were blessed in 2014 to be given tickets on the 50 yard line by a big time booster who got upgraded to sit with his good friend Gene Smith. We got parking passes and parked with the coaches families. It was the treat of a life time. To top it all off, when the final whistle blew, my dad who is a shy man, looked his sons dead in the eyes and said “let’s go down to the field”. A superb finish to a day I will never forget. Our hatred for scUM runs deep in our house. I spent most of elementary school in Michigan in the 90s, not a good time! The memories from this rivalry and the hatred we have pumping through us will mean this rivalry is never dead. It doesn’t matter if we win 20 in a row, I will still wake up that morning with my heart already pounding in my chest. I love it and you can bet your ass my son will feel the same way. He’ll be here next month and already has buckeye outfits and books
Buy the ticket take the ride.
