Nice touch... in his 150 yr career. HAHA
Shit Happens Bum Juice
Less than a TD per year? #startHaskins
Only 147 touchdowns in 150 years? Not even one a year, smh barrets a bum
150 years is child's play.
What a great video DJ - thanks for the memories
Go get'em Cal Poppy - we are behind you !!
It's not a rivalry .............. it's a wreckoning.
From the Confederate States of America to Jim Harbaugh, Barrett scored against all enemies of the state during his time in Columbus.
Clemson notwithstanding, of course. Dad-gum Sesech, anyway.

Thank You KillrNut for putting this together!
ONE Not Done!
Nice work KillrNut
I still miss Devon Smith.
Agreed. After watching that video I also miss Michael Thomas. Not sure if everyone realizes it but he’s pretty good at catching a football.
Look at the clock. _ichigan still sucks.
Drop in and be recognized, KillrNut.
I'm not around that much, running exhausted and lost...
Yep. Come and get your helmet stickers, KillrNut.
One can also UV right on the original post.
Dont forget to tip your waiter, folks.
Posted below, but thanks.
The 2014 version of JT Barrett could have beat the world. Just saying. After that year he never seemed quite the same.
There can be only one
Agreed. He just looked different before the injury.
My thought also, 419er.
Also why I think the next man up will bring some fire. There is something about the innocence of slinging the ball around without worry of consequence that a younger QB brings. I also think that Ryan Day is a better mentor, but JT was too far into the weeds already.
2014 JTB had Tom Herman. That dude knows how to coach QBs. Look at what he did with the kid from Houston and how he made Texas QBs better. After the injury...and then having Beck/Warinner...JTB regressed. One year with Day helped, but he would need two to have exorcised all the demons.
You win with people.
And so forth...
9 Units Strong!
Agreed. Two years under Day and I think JT takes a huge step forward. Unfortunately, I guess we will never know.
One year of really good and one year of merely decent coaching in his 150 year career and he barely managed to break all the conference scoring records, along with every school QB recordWithout the Beck-Warriner curse, he had a shot at the all-time, all-division NCAA records, no doubt.

Boy, I got vision and the rest of the world wears bifocals! - Butch Cassidy
Did you notice how the tds changed over the time. Early he was hitting guys everywhere. As time passed more running TDs
Never realized how often they went to the TE in the red zone in '14. Nice little routes by Vannett and Heuerman.
I aim to misbehave.
There is no doubt in my military mind that JTB was at his most confident in his running and passing ability during the 2014 season before his injury in the TSUN game. He threw the ball with authority and timing, and his legs (see #35) were almost unstoppable.
Best wishes going forward to Joe Thomas Barrett. Buckeye Great. Buckeye Forever.
True. And I like how almost everyone here is being fair to him about 3 coordinators and QB coaches in 4 years and the only one he had for 2 seasons was he who shall not be named. J.T. for Governor!

This was beautiful in so many ways beyond that nugget. Nicely done KillrNut!
C'mon man. Why not an individual thread on each one of them.
Because only JTB as a topic generates a shitton of clicks, that's why. There's nothing like trying to move forward while your ex still calls every day. Exhausting after a while.
The most successful QB in OSU history is being compared to an annoying ex girlfriend.
No, Buckslan, and that's one heck of a leap. Is that seriously how you took my post?
The most successful QB in OSU history is being compared to an annoying ex girlfriend.
In the situation above you, maybe the ex girlfriend wasn't really the problem. /s
Most successful QB in tOSU history? Sorry-gotta give Rex Kern, Craig Krenzel, 12 Gauge, and whomever started in 58', 53', and 42' credit first.
JT got us in position for a title and saved our season after Brax went down. Any credit that goes to 12 Gauge, and i love me some Car-Dale, has to go to JT as well.
Sorry Stx; Kern, Krenzel and Kardale were legendary QBs, but "most successful"?
Why don't you do this? Put on some highlights of 12 Gauge in the 2015 season, if you can find any.
And the -DVs are not from me.

Success=Winning the whole enchilada The 6 QBs I named did that for The Ohio State University
That is the ultimate mark of of success in a team sport. A QB's job is to lead his team to victory in big games. The more he does that, the more successful he is. If people want to giggle themselves silly over umpteen zillion TDs against Rutgers-go ahead, it's a free country and free website. I'll keep to my own criteria.
So a QB like Rex Kern for example, whose job was to hand the ball off to RB's and who threw more INT's than TD's, is a more successful/better QB? Come on man.
More successful-absolutely. "Better" as to the position-that's certainly open to debate.
JTBIV won 4 out of 4 games as the Starting QB against Michigan. We are therefore currently sitting at 2,258 days since TTUN has beaten us. THAT is also a big marker of success for our QBs in my humble but correct opinion. Don't bother looking up who else has done that as a starting QB.
I am not saying the dudes on your list aren't worthy of being in the discussion STX, but JT is also worthy. There are plenty of arguments against him, but there are arguments against the others as well. For instance without the ridiculous defense in '02, there would have been no way Krenzel would have taken that team all the way. We won so many games that year with less than 20 points on the board. So your criteria is also flawed, which is fine. That is what makes this so fun to talk about. With that said, we are allowed to love all of these guys. They are all buckeyes!
Success=Winning the whole enchilada
Barrett was a CRITICAL part of Ohio State winning the 2014 Title. Him and Cardale both get credit.
You make a good point abt winning championships, Stx. (I don't know what enchiladas o cualquier otra comida mejicana has to do with it tho'.) And as I recall, JT Barrett has a 2014 championship ring on his finger.
Edit-replace 53' and 58' w/ 54' and 57'!
Quite the difference in the number of running TDs between years 1 and 2. Quite a few scrambles in Year 1 that replaced by designed runs in Year 2...
"Making the Great State of Ohio Proud!" UFM
Yea when they figured out that JT could run the ball they changed everything to focus on that instead of progressing his throwing ability.
What stands out to me early is that I forgot how good Michael Thomas was a YAC and taking it to the house. Dude was a stud...JT was pretty good, too!
Great video of a Buckeye great and his accomplishments as a Buckeye.
J.T. Barrett !!
Buy the ticket take the ride.
Outstanding archival research and compilation, KillrNut. Professionally done. Thanks for your efforts in bringing JTB's accomplishments into focus.
Awesome! Haters everywhere especially to the north, can choke on it!
It's crazy how well those rollouts worked in 2014. Annnnd not so much recently.
The things weve taken for granted!
I can't help but echo what my fellow posters are saying. JTB was absolutely lethal in 2014. Yes, it was his best supporting cast, but his accuracy and decision making were never better. Credit Tom Herman, Zeke Elliott, Devin Smith, a confident and trusting Urban Meyer, a solid O line, and you have the recipe for greatness. After the injury in the GAME, the loss of a deep HR threat, coaching changes, porous O-Line, etc., and you have a perfect storm for a gutsy but marginalized QB.
In another universe, that same Ohio State team plays that same Virginia Tech team...but later in the season.
And lays them out.
Maybe. But I will always believe, that loss was the best thing that could have happened to that young team.
The same thing could have been said for the Sparty debacle in the rain in 2015....if it had not cost us a shot in the playoff.
Hard to swallow! Two Natty's in a row. Oh, what could have been?
"I think Alabama would beat Ohio State if they played next weekend!" Clay Travis Fox Sports Post Championship Show 1.12.2015. Needs no explanation.
Really, if that team clicked they would have won it that year. Not sure there was a team out there that would have been favored over them. At most maybe a push or only a few point advantage. Situational losing stinks in the worst way. Guess it proves it is better to lose ooc if you are going to lose.
Just....stop......he is gone. ....let.....him.....go
It's the off-season, Joe. The content is fun (for some of us, not for everyone) to look back on and have something to analyze and reminisce about considering all that he accomplished. In a dead zone for news on the football team, I.....for one....welcomed the video.
Oh, Joe. I'll never let go of your negative comments. Especially this one.
He only had to start on his own side of the field once and only came away with field goal when that happened, then pooped the bed the entire second half. That game proved that we would have likely been blanked again had we gone to the playoffs. Hardly a post to showoff as proving your point. Sam D. had by all accounts an awful game an still tripled Barrett's passing yards.
Stop abandoning the running backs.
You do realize our gameplan COMPLETELY changed once we jumped out to an early lead. We leaned on our defense and played ball control on offense...that's hardly a recipe for gaudy QB statistics.
Your post wasn't exactly one to "showoff' your point either.
But yea, let's just put it ALL on JT....again.
People don't want to grasp that Urban went full Tresselball once we went up 24-0. No need to give Sam Darnold chances to do to us what he did to PSU the year before.
I don't necessarily agree with going Tresselball there, but that is exactly what happened. Can't blame the players who outside of one play executed the plan the coaches had for em.
Yeah. It was boring. But Urban does get conservative like that in big games. And Darnold dismantles PSU last year because they got into a shootout. Tresselball was the safest call.
So why don't you start a more interesting thread instead of bitching about the fact of everyone else having an opinion in this one?
Thank You JT Barrett!!!! In the History of the BIG no one has accounted for more td's. GO JTBIV!!!! GO BUCKS!!!!
WTH? Not one replay for those that missed the play. /s
what a bum
2014 JT was the best JT. He was uber confident and decisive. If he didn't break his ankle and have Tim Beck for half of his career I bet we see that JT for all 4 years.
Also damn @CantGuardMike was good.
The world is yours
I always think of that long touchdown at Minnesota as the OJ touchdown. It's like that long, slow chase down the highway.
Man he threw the ball so much better and had way more confidence in 2014!
And it's amazing how JT's receivers were getting open then-- Devon Smith and Michael Thomas and Jalen Marshall.
And, Evan Spencer.
But yeah, catch-capable receivers do wonders to a QB's confidence in throwing the ball.
Does wonders for all the work receivers put in and run routes when there’s reasonable assurance that the ball is on time, and target too!
Amazing in 2014 - then the injury, miserable QB situation in 2015, and Tim Beck's incompetence
I just watched all 104 TD passes & 43 rushing TD's. And so many great team moments...Amazing! Thanks JT! (Thanks KillrNut). And I'll probably watch it again before SeptemberSaturday.
Wow, what a Buckeye Legend! JT will be missed. Thank you, JT! And thank you, KillrNut, for the compilation.
It was fun to take a trip down memory lane and soak in the greatness we had with JT at the helm. Great job by KillrNut
Two things stand out to me:
1) He didn't have a weenie arm. He could throw darts and bombs.
2) The receivers and the OL play greatly impacted his success. When he was firing on all cylinders he had time to throw and the receivers could catch and run to the end zone.
One of the all-time greats at TOSU. We're going to miss you, JT.
"We get paid to score touchdowns, not kick field goals"
-- Urban Meyer
2) I noticed how many guys were wiiiiiiide open in 2014, and when they weren't I saw Thomas go up and make contested catches that I don't hardly see anymore.
Thomas was a special talent though. He is even proving that in the NFL.
Excellent compilation! Pondering whether or not I should send KillrNut and JTB a Trumpy Bear to reward their efforts.
I’m a mini van driver in a mega fun world
That was fun, thanks KillrNut for putting that together!
150 years. that's certainly what it's felt like during the last 2 years.
I thought he looked older than all the other players.good non the less but older..............
Gentlemen, you can't fight in here, its a war room
Just wish he could have been more consistent in the passing game like in 2014. That guy was a do it all sort of guy. Not sure if the play calling just got spooked about the passing game or that he was so good at the zone read or what. Just was a very noticibale shift. There is no doubt the guy has and had talent.
I think it was all QBgeddon and the lack of a QB coach to help the transition. Remember Cardale struggling, and then it was decided he plays to the redzone, and JT came in. And JT was deadly with the zone read. When he got in a groove, he was named starter until his DUI.
Great work! Awesome compilation! I wish it included Barrett’s first down against that team. It was like a touchdown.
I season my simple food with hunger
I LOVE the muting of audio of Beth Mowins in the Maryland game - nice touch.
It was nice, only thing that could have been better is if he somehow found a way to bring in the silly tones of Paul Keels for those.
Every offensive staff member should watch this on repeat just to drill how much he really regressed while he was here. That's not a good look. Play calling certainly hardly helped after 2014, but also lacked the same spin, and accuracy on many throws after. Of course I find it hilarious that after Cardale's run people were saying JT couldn't throw the deep ball... rewatch his 2014 tape and he hits plenty of deep throws. I seriously think he took it too hard and was trying to throw the ball as hard as he could instead of just slinging it after that.
...And after finishing watching the entire film, the offensive issues, you know the ones where you go seriously wtf, and feel like you're watching a Browns game, is wholeheartedly coaching. I would absolve all players save for maybe some terrible WR drops for offensive issues, and even then catching isn't as highly valued as blocking at WR so that goes on coaching as well... I look forward to hopefully watching players utilized to their fullest potential hopefully in the coming season. -__-
Very fond memories! Thanks for putting this together! Loved every second of it.
Video is 26 minutes long, 25 of those were for that TD run against Minnesota in 2014 ;-)
62 - 39 = 7 consecutive
I remember watching that at the time thinking "this is the slowest 'breakaway' TD run in CFB history!"
Just Touchdowns. Also Mike Thomas is a BEAST.
KillrNut leaving the Michigan fans leaving the Whore House in 2015 was sublime.
Tom Brady lost to John Cooper. Never forget.
I am glad so many of you are enjoying the video.
I'm not sure if enterprising is the right word though, I'm not getting any money off this. I just happen to think that despite the inconsistency he had at times, Barrett's career is one worth celebrating, and he had some awesome moments that are fun to look back at.
LOL at the removal of Beth Mowins audio...great video
Class of 2010.
I count 11 touchdowns with less than a minute to go in the first half.
Class of 81
Great tribute video to JT.
It looked effortless for him in 2014....Devin Smith and Michael Thomas were amazing.
Man, I'm gonna miss JT Barrett...
Side note: in the 55 games Ohio St played in over the last 4 years Barrett wasn’t on the field at all for 41 quarters. Imagine how many more TDS there would have been with essentially an additional season of play.
Wow after watching that it is quite obvious that JT was going backwards(degressing). His throws in 2014 were very crisp and had quite a few long/medium ones and threw with confidence. His speed was even much better just 3 short years ago.
Watching his TD's last year were short passes where a runner broke loose. He had a great career and I wish him well.
I'm so glad...
Onward and upward! Go Buckeyes!
Any given football play lasts an average 4 seconds. And yet he has over 25 minutes of TD plays alone. Wow.
On the passes only, there were quite a few WRs with big-time YAC to get the points onto the board, but there were two or three times as many really good throws. All those groaner-throws removed from the context of this compilation eliminates the narrative about the weenie arm and the completion % record shoots down the inconsistency argument.
you know, there will come a time next season where we can't get a stinking yard on 3d and 1 to salt away a big game, and we all will think, "damn JT would have gotten that All. Day."
then we'll miss him even more.
And as much as some picked on JT for his weenie arm or throwing a bad ball, he was way better than Krenzel or Kern at throwing it.
Shoot, Art Schlichter never threw a tight spiral in his life.
JT, you were one of a kind, and once in a life time.
I still think we'll go 15-0 next year, but I'll always miss JTBIV.
great video! I work in Ann Arbor and I think I'll play this on flat screen in out conference room.
you know, there will come a time next season where we can't get a stinking yard on 3nd and 1 to salt away a big game, and we all will think, "damn JT would have gotten that All. Day."
I seriously think that 2014 National Title made (and still has) many Ohio State fans so spoiled. I mean so many of them were ripping Cardale a new ass early in 2015 and screaming for JT to be put in, and then 12-18 months later the same fans are calling JT garbage.
I do think that I read a stat where on 3rd and 1 or 4th and 1 JT was like 77% successful I believe.(something like 78 for 102 or something like that). The guy from Miss.St Fitzgerald was like 22-25 - 88% - anyhow. Again the thought process is that he ran it all the time because he got it all the time but the numbers show it a little differently...
