I’m only seeing rankings from players #101 and above...
"Man I wish everyone stop saying I beat a kid in the hospital 91-35.... It was 98-35, had 91 with 1:26 left in the 4th"
- Cardale Jones
The top 100 was revealed either yesterday or the day before, can't remember.
Landing Olave would be a complete steal. Hope it happens. I think this year's WR class (along with the LBs) need at least 2 guys to hit as having major impact during their Buckeye careers - and surefire pros
Make preparations in advance. You never have trouble if you are prepared for it.
Holy crap! I didn’t know there were two Jeremy Ruckert’s!
Dude is so good, it's as if he's in two places at once. He's uncoverable.
“When we feel love and kindness toward others, it not only makes others feel loved and cared for, but it helps us also to develop inner happiness and peace.” – Dalai Lama.
I hope Urban signed the good one.
Ignorance isn't bliss for the rest of us.
Whoever put him at 101 needs to put the pipe down and slowly back away from the rankings.
29 Saturdays till kickoff
Lol! It's always funny to watch OSU's guys drop in the final rankings before NSD. I would be interested in seeing similar stats on Alabama, Georgia, and Clemson. Not suggesting a conspiracy, just interested. Google, here I come.
I survived Cooper, and I hate Tai Streets.
Coaches are allowed to visit 2019 recruits now?
They can just say “hello” until April. They meet with their coaches now.
@Andrew, great news on Olave. I'd love to see either Nicholas Petit-Frere or Rasheed Walker (or preferably both) join this class. What do you think the odds are?
they’ll make the numbers work
I've always been curious, what exactly does this mean?
There's this "unwritten' rule to not speak of current players by name regarding transfers and the like, but transfers (and med DQ's) always happen. Is "making the numbers work" a way of saying, "for each recruit we take that puts us further past the scholarship limit, that's how many more guys we'll tell, 'you gotta go'?"
The Buckeye behind enemy lines...
It works itself out due to injuries, better opportunity for playing time elsewhere and other reasons. Kind of like real life in a way
It has always worked itself out and then some. This past year OSU had an extra scholly to give to the walkon on kick coverage. They were over at this point last year, too.
I think there are 4th year juniors like Brady Taylor and Dante Booker who have been told that at the end of spring practice, if they are not the starter, then they will not be given a 5th year.
I highly doubt with Wolabaugh transferring bat anyone in their right mind would tell Taylor that if he doesn't start he is gone.
So who is hitting the road then?
Are you still on the Brady Taylor hate thing?
Not at all. If he wins the competition, great. If not, then we don't need any 5th year benchwarmers whether it is him, Booker, Pridgeon etc. Give me a 18 year old who could be an All-American as opposed to a 22 or 23 year old whose ceiling we know that isn't starting.
I haven't a clue, and won't act like I do. I highly doubt it's Taylor thought. Why don't you tell us.
I get it, but what if they ARE the starters though at the end of spring practice? Not saying you (or anyone) has the answers, but how many scenarios are there to where they "make room" in February, for hypotheses in the spring?
I guess my point is, we dance around naming names because "it isn't fair to the kid," but we all know that transfers etc happen, the team WILL be at 85 or less come the fall, yet for the must have recruits late in the process it is known that there will be spots for them...now.
I guess you can't ask an honest, sincere question these days...
This is basically a hand wave explanation. The rule is under 85, so you do it.
The coaches know who's leaving, but we don't. They know how many they can take, but we don't. Urban is a good guy, so he's not going to do anything sketchy. Medicals happen, and they know about some transfers. The only wiggle room is that we guarantee 4 year scholarships, not 5+. If there's a 5th (or 6th) year guy who hasn't and isn't going to do anything, they don't have to keep them on scholarship, and this can mean them transferring or just ending their playing career. But you'd have to be pretty sure they can't be productive, because it's rare that losing a 5th year player for the one freshman player you can now fit is a good trade (I think most coaches mostly think short term).
However, this doesn't mean that it's good form to speculate on who's going to leave. They're Buckeyes, so they should be treated with respect.
When will ESPN come out with their new rankings?
Are we still in it for 2019 OT Devontae Dobbs or is he pretty certain to go to MSU?
Fields of Dreams
Still in it.
Anytime we can pull CA kids....think of the impact when other CA kids tune in to watch Wyatt Davis dominate next year. Or Marcus Baugh catch the game winner in an incredible comeback against PSU.
They are talking about Max Wray and describe him as a converted tight end. He stepped up and did his part. Reminds me of Reid Fragel...
"converted tight end"
I must admit to not being knowledgeable on recruiting, but didn't the NCAA impose a limit of 25 recruits per class? If so, and they are at 23, that means 2 more, unless they drop someone who has not signed the LOI. If so, any guess on who, what, when were or why?

There are early enrollees that can be backcounted to 2017. So in effect you can sign more than 25 in a given traditional HS class.
It used to he that any of the early enrolees could count against last years numbers. Don’t know if that is the case now with the early signing period.
I believe that it still is. The only numbers crunch for the Buckeyes is the 85 by August limit.
"Any time you give a man something he doesn't earn, you cheapen him. Our kids earn what they get, and that includes respect." -- Woody Hayes
Seems like a lot of kids are trending towards this school I've never heard of called VIP
That'll be 5 dollars
I guess the good news for 2018 is the loaded wagon is going to pull up with Olave in it. The bad news may be if they are short and they are chasing Olave so hard, it may mean someone else is leaving or Walker and/or Frere won't be on the wagon when it pulls into the stadium. I really hope that is not the case.
Haven't seen any update on DE Javontae Jean-Baptiste from Bergen Catholic, NJ.
This is too good to share. This must be a HOF post for UM fan depression about OSU success, taken from MGO:
I have officially moved into the acceptance phase....
1. Denial – Jim Tressel is going to do what again? That dude just left Youngstown fucking State for God’s sake. Not too worried about him that's for sure.
2. Anger – Jesus S Christ Lloyd. You’re up by five late in the game and you’re punting from the OSU 35 yard line???? Get a God Damn first down and this game is over.
3. Bargaining – OK God if you just let Denard be able to throw the ball a little bit we can use him at running back and the decoy will keep OSU from keying on him. Just a little bit is all we need OK?
4. Depression – Pick 6, fumble on 1 yard line and HE WAS SHORT. Plus why oh why could we not tackle that jerkoff on third and 10 for what would’ve been a 10 yard loss…….
5. Acceptance – Of course we just lost the 4 Star DLineman we’ve been leading in recruiting for to OSU. Of course their OC turned down a job in the NFL to stay at Ohio State. Of course they are #1 in recruiting the B1G and nationally while we muddle around in the mid teens at best.
This is too good to share.
So why'd you do it then?!?
Haha I meant too good NOT to share.
Thank you for sharing. I head over there from time to time to drink their tears when I need a nice pick-me-up.
To hell with Gatorade! Wolverine tears are the emotional thirst quencher for Buckeye fans.
"The future is bright at Ohio State." - Urban Meyer 1/1/15
Olave caught 93 of Tuttle’s passes this season for a San Diego Section-record 1,764 yards and 26 TDs.
Dang what does it take to be a top 100 recruit if that doesn't get you there.
It might be a factor of his competition. I say this not knowing a thing about San Diego football quality.
69 in 18
Just check Max Prep he played on the ranked 96th highschool team in all of the country. Only loss the team had was a 7 point loss to the number 29 team in the country.
But who did they beat? Losing by 1 TD to 29th but winning against 150+ would be irrelevant. (I have no idea how to check this stuff w/ Max Prep, just proposing a scenario.)
Well Olave the sound of that
My father-in-law is a dean at Belleview and met Urban today when ur was there to see Tarquin and his coaches. If I knew how to post his text he sent I would post it.
The day Carman signed with Clemson. I went to bed crying. Today I just realized I was over reacting. Wray started over Carman at the army bowl which means we got the better OT in the end.
I went to bed crying.
I hope you're kidding
I don't know what's worse, you crying over that, or the fact it took you over a month to realize you were overreacting.
I mean, I gently wept into my pillow when Brenton Cox decommitted, but I would never shed tears over Carman..
The only Carman I've ever shed tears over is Carmen Ohio after the '94 TTUN game.
Olave told me tonight he’s announcing on Sunday.
But did he tell you who he is picking? /s
No more half measures, Andrew. SPIT IT OUT!
New Day for OSU. Same noon for TTUN.
I think that's a good sign Olave will be #24
How cool is it you get to talk with these young men and get to know their families only a few years before they become NFL super stars.
I think he did just tell you.
If you have nothing to hide you have nothing to fear.
Let’s all cut to the chase here. If OSU, Alabama, Clemson, etc needs to get to 85, they “get rid” of kids They don’t have a choice. It’s the nature of the big business of college football. You don’t have 92 kids and get to 85 “by chance”. Sorry folks.
Too many goody two shoes will talk about issue, but shame a person for mentioning a valid name. It is only an open board if they agree with one's opinion lol.
Ruckert is a top 50 player. Ranking him 101 is flat out ridiculous IMO.
"Always bear in mind that your own resolution to succeed, is more important than any other one thing." - Abraham Lincoln
TE’s don’t get ranked in Top 50. They RARELY have an impact.
1) I don't totally understand why it isn't okay to speculate on players who may be transferring? Why is that okay, but lobbying for players to be benched isn't?
2) Looking at the roster, besides the ones who already haven't left, I don't see obvious candidates to leave and go elsewhere? No one sticks out
Neither one is in good taste, but there's too many JT/other haters to stop them.
Andrew...You know there are really bad places in hell (well, Xichigan..same thing)...for people who post like that.
