Dremont Jones Says Nick Bosa Was on Him All Year About Not Leaving Early.

The combination of a full time starting role and getting to play opposite the Predator sets Bosa up for a monster season in 2018.  I'll be shocked if he doesn't leave early.

Yeah...  short of a massive letdown in production this year, he will (and should) leave.

He goes early.

Dremont will help the D-line dominate again and the he and Nick will leave for the NFL together.

He will probably have a monster year and go pro.  I'm just happy we'll get to see him on the field a lot more

HS

Bosa, along with the rest of the team, I think feels something great coming together next year. Adding Dre'mont back give that D-line a key third guy that's a monster in pass rush. He's also one of the better DTs in the country overall, point blank period. I don't think it's any indication Bosa will stay after this year though.

Jones should have had a side deal with Bosa that he stays as well.

Go get'em Cal Poppy - we are behind you !!

It's not a rivalry .............. it's a wreckoning.

Jones is nowhere close to Bosa in terms of draft projection. Even if Nick could have left this year he would be drafted much higher. Jones has more to gain by staying another year. Nick on the other hand, his paycheck is waiting.

100% says he leaves but imagine Bosa, Cooper, and landers senior year to pair along with Young junior year. Probably would be looking at two of the top 3 picks in the draft that year which would be insane. Also, a good shot at a first rounder in Cooper with Landers being a first team all big ten lineman I bet that year. But yeah no way that happens with Bosa staying his senior year.

HS

It’s a little outlandish to think any college football team would have two players from the same position be 2 of the top 3 picks in a draft. Maybe both could be first-rounders

What do you all think of their podcast? It's longer than most, so they go a little more in depth week to week. Plus they have their thing I guess with talking about food. I listen to the Bucknuts, Eleven Warriors, and Land of 10 podcasts also. I think Eleven Warriors has the best one.

HS

I listen to them all and like Cleveland.com’s “Buckeye Talk” the best. 11w dubcast is very good also, but Beau Bishop rubs me a little annoyingly. Guy thinks he’s so awesome and sometimes I just can’t deal with it.

oh how could i forget! Bucknuts morning 5 is the best!!! It’s supposed to be 5 min everyday, but always runs about 10-15. I especially enjoy Tuesday & Thursday episodes w Dan Rubin. That guy has the gift of gab for sure. His vernacular & phrasing is so unique. Tbh i’d say he’s of the most entertaining speakers I’ve ever listened to.... (I know, I know, I need to broaden my horizons a bit. haha)

I totally agree with you on everything besides Dan Rubin. I like the guy but my goodness he says some totally retarded stuff from time to time. He definitely makes me laugh. I like Cleveland.com but Doug Lesmerises annoys the shit out of me with his constant negativity (Ironic that I'm bitching right now) and how he always points towards all the flaws and asks the "got ya" questions like he's smarter than anyone in the room. I'll listen/support anything talking about my Buckeyes though.

HS

One would only need to take a look at Lesmerises' AP votes when he participated to understand where you're coming from on him.

Bosa's comment was more about winning a national title as opposed to helping Nick's stat line. A starting DL of Bosa, Jones, Landers, and Young with a 2nd unit rotation of Cooper, Cornell, Hamilton, and maybe Jackson or Garrett would make our DL insane. If they can fix our LBs our defense will be a Top 5 unit again.

I actually liked what I saw from the backup LBs this year and am still holding out hope that it all begins to click for Hilliard in 2018.

'suddenly'

we've gone from OT and DE rich to 'thin'

and OG and DT from thin to rich.

Good thing our coaches recruit and develop... 'flexibility'...   ;-{)}

There are a lot of people that share Nick Bosa's offensive sentiment.

HS

butt... what do you FEEEEEELLL we must 'think'?   LOL

this is sooooo... 'offensive'.  ;-{)}  Somewhere, some inspired somebody just snared a wildcat... and elsewhere some chicken is crossing the road... and in the Coop, there's only coaching coaches... and nobody knows when that old chicken will reappear with just a single wing....

====meanwhile, we're out of the 'preference' frying pan, into the 'be - is' fire?

we all 'have' our preferences, but only you & i are right about them...and i'm not so sure about you....  LOL

From the Jan. 19 interview with Nick Bosa:

Q: What do you think the offense will be like if Dwayne Haskins is running the show?

NB: I just think he's a drop-back passer, and I think that's what we should be, a team that throws the ball with the quarterback and runs the ball with the running backs. And I think that'll be really good just to get the running backs the ball more, and have Dwayne just slinging it back there and making our receivers look really good.

Q: Did you watch the national championship game?

NB: Yeah, I watched it.

Q: What did you think of Alabama going to the backup quarterback at halftime?

NB: That was a good move. I think that's why Nick Saban's great. He's willing to put the team before one player, and just really put the best player in the game, and that's why he's looked at as one of the best coaches ever.

LOL Mensa that's funny. That's something that very few belong to and only dream of. Sad thing for me is I have a son smart enough to get in but has the common sense of a pet rock. I have always said you can a very very high IQ but if you have no common sense your not going to far...

HS
raiderred's picture

Same case with my brother. Has absolutely zero street smarts.

HS
Dasniksder's picture

My brother is the complete opposite. He always has a hustle and con working. Extremely street smart, but dumb as hell. I told him my kids and I were taking a trip Gettysburg and he told me to watch out for jellyfish and sharks.

HS

Lol.  Everybody knows that most of the sharks down there are nurse sharks and they don't bite.

HS
Buck298's picture

I feel your pain, my brother (shaking my head) clearly got all of the brains in the family, but, holy cow, poor guy just has no common sense or normal social skills at all. I love him dearly and look out for him the best I can. However, he has a heart of gold. He would take off his last shirt he owned and give it to me if he thought I needed it. So yeah, we're opposites but complementary.

I think Dremont will slide over and do some SDE work for us....He was a DE in HS.  It will improve his draft status in terms of his versatility...

This seems like an exceptionally confident team from everything we've seen this off season. CFL players are always confident, they have to be to compete, but it really seems like there is an extra level of confidence from all of the comments coming from the guys coming back for another year.

HS
Buck68's picture

dunno about "confident", but...

listening to the player interviews [esp Bosa], it seems that a group of players 'had issues' with UFM's offensive 'preferences'... but overcame that in deciding to stick together regardless.

it is not uncommon that such differences have led to much 'celebrating diversity' smoke, instead of real and/or perceived sacrifices in team building.

And... yet... at least on the outside... some players expect certain changes [as compared to 'change' & 'transparency'] as the basis for renewing ...trust and sacrifices....

the competing will be revealing....

In Nicks interview today he said this was his last year, laughed and then corrected himself and said probably his last year. Enjoy it while it lasts.

HS
RBloodworth's picture

Not that I think that he WOULD do this, but, if any player in all of CFB today COULD sit out his entire junior year to prepare for the NFL Draft, it would be Nick Bosa.  His draft stock won't get any better than it is today and his family is both financially secure enough and experienced with the entire draft process to make that scenario work.

HS

I will help you, he has already decided to leave early next year. Just like Joey did.  And I do not blame him one bit, the kid is a beast and is only going to get better.
